It's with great regret I have to rescind this great review of five stars. Town Fair Tire New London went way downhill with John becoming the new manager. He just tried to bait and switch me. I called and spoke to Ryan. He quoted me $130 to mount and balance and dispose of four tires for my truck. When I got there. John stepped in and was very disrespectful and condescending and he said that since I didn't buy the tires there, it was gonna cost $300 in lieu of the $130. John is not a very good manager and I would definitely not recommend doing business with him. It's not the first time I had issues with John. He always tries to upsell and the price always seems to go up with these fees that we were never disclosed upon initial quote. If you decide to do business with John make sure you get it in writing. I will no longer be doing business with Town Fair Tire and whoever chooses to, be careful for the switch and bait. read more

They were professional, courteous, and the value of the tires were awesome, made the appointment in one day they put the tires on aligned them and balanced them. Person at the front was quick to check me in and I was able to get my alignment done in less than an hour.

Brought my car in for tires. Went to lunch next door and came back to pick it up. The young guy brings it around from the installation bay but I notice him stopping and going and stopping again. He parks it, runs inside, leaves the key with the ass't mgr. I go in and pay the bill. I get in to drive home and ....NO BRAKES! The installer didn't tell anyone but let me drive away with no brakes. I go inside and talk to asst. mgr and tell him. He said I saw brake fluid on the lift but thought it was from another vehicle. He looks under the car and sees that brake line is leaking. He says, 'must have twisted on the lift.' He says the car is old..which it was...so I said I'll go half on the repair with you. He agrees. I was more pissed that he didn't even check to see if I had breaks after he saw the fluid on the lift. I had to get AAA to come pick it up while I rode home in the AAA truck. It took me extra 2 hrs. I had the car repaired by my mechanic. It cost $200. I called the mgr. (who wasn't there the day it happened) and he agree that somebody should have told me I had no brakes before I drove away and could have hit a car in lot. I told him he owes me $100. He said you have to come back in (35 miles) give him a the original invoice so he can make a copy and then can give me a check for $100. He said he couldn't do it my email! I never went back down there. It would have cost me $30 in gas back and forth just to get $100. plus at least 2 hrs of my time. No excuse for allowing me to drive away with no breaks. I should have charged them for the AAA fee as well. Don't waste your time and money going there. Incompetent and careless. read more

Not sure what happened but I got another flat. I drive pretty carefully and pay attention to the road, avoiding small things in the road as I drive. But as you can see from this checkin, I got another one and went to Town Fair tire. I always seem to get great service from them, from the greeting all the way thru when I leave. They found the hole and had it plugged. I was worried I might have to replace it since the day before I had to drive a little ways to a gas station to fill it with air. But luckily, there was no issues and they were able to fix it with no other issues. Waited about an hour for it to be fixed. read more

Never in my life have I've been so confused by the lack of communication, professionalism and common sense. My experience started as I was told it would take a few hours which was fine. I had a donut on my car and needed 2 new front tires. After 4 hours. I asked for an update. All I got was something is wrong with the back of the car. These poorly trained people ripped my exhaust apart. Without asking. I was waiting on a new piece so I had a patch piece temporarily in place. If someone would've said hey ur exhaust looks bad. I would've quickly said I know and don't touch it. But nope they ripped it off and I had to say screw the alignment just give me my car back around your 5. Also I didn't wanna buy their scam warranty and they didn't ask. They just put it on there. 30$ I'll never see again. Don't come here. I brought my truck to the Old Saybrook Town Fair Tire 3 times to have them do an alignment. The first time they got my steering rack boots all twisted up and my steering wheel was cocked to the right. I brought it back to them that day, they told me they couldn't fix it, and sent me to another (non TFT) shop to fix it on their dime. The 3rd time I brought it to them to redo the alignment, my steering wheel was cocked way to the left and they also left the passenger side jamb nut loose on my steering rack, making it relatively unsafe to drive my truck. At that point I had lost all trust in the Old Saybrook TFT. I called the New London TFT and they were able to get me in that day for a realignment. There were many notable differences between the New London and the Old Saybrook TFT which makes the NL one much more desirable. 1. The techs at the NL location took more than twice the amount of time with my truck. I'm not sure if it's because they had to undo what Old Saybrook did, but it definitely showed me they were more attentive to my truck and safety. 2. The tech was able to not only fix my steering, but fixed the camber/caster of my front wheels (which OS said I needed to replace parts to fix) 3. They didn't charge me anything since they were fixing what another TFT messed up. At this point, I almost feel bad I gave my money to OS and wish it had been given to NL in the first place. I've read some reviews and people have complained that it took longer to get their vehicles back. Be thankful that they're taking more time with your vehicle to make sure things are done right. It's sad they had to fix the mistakes of another TFT for my truck, but I will forever be a loyal customer to the New London TFT, even if I have to drive more than twice the distance I'd drive if I were going to the Old Saybrook TFT. If only I knew the name of the tech that worked on my truck, because I'd specifically request that tech to work on my truck in the future when I need it. He was professional, honest, and showed me that my safety was priority after working on my truck. That dude definitely deserves a cold one from me. Life lesson learned: I'm never going back to the Old Saybrook TFT, and all of my future tire and steering needs will be brought to the New London TFT. read more

I got a flat one morning and started my search for a place to get the repair. I started at another shop across the street. They were not interested in doing the repair... so I left and noticed Town Fair Tire as I was leaving. Stopped in there and they hooked me up right away.... like $13 and 15 minutes later I was out the door and on my way. No upsell (which I hate), no "we'll need to replace your engine" BS... quick, and honest. Get you tire work done here. read more

They take advantage of "telling a woman how it is" Townfair tire agreed OEM wheels would be acceptable to install 5 tires on. Day of appointment, vacation day burned and schedule rearranged, magically can't be done. Townfair Tire reps said they can't install them because "the wheels were MADE IN CHINA" ... unbelievable. I love this place. Every time I go there the exceed my expectations!! I went in today for a safety check, because I was hearing a sound from one of my tires. Thank goodness I did! They found a large bolt stuck in one of my tires that was not visible from outside the car. The removed the bolt, repaired the damage and balanced my front in...all for no charge because I took my car in for a safety check. My car runs perfectly and noise free again. The other review, I JUST wrote, from about 30 mins ago, VERY detailed and specific... was just deleted. Let me just say a couple things about this TFT... Over the years- 3 times total so far... Many issues. First was a Bait and switch scam with 4 tires bought online FROM THEM & IN-STOCK... We get there, they said they didn't have those tires, but had the next ones up which would have been an extra $15+ a tire... Bait&Switch is when you advertise for something, but where you get there, they say they don't have it and offer more expensive item for you instead... It is FRAUDULENT AND A SCAM.. I reported to the BBB and nothing came of it... Corporate did nothing... Next was my dad called asking for two tires, they said they had them, get there, couldn't find, searched for 2 hours, came out and had yet again said "we don't have those sizes" LIARS!! SO, my dad, a disabled veteran, had to come up with an extra $80... Nice job guys! (Mind you this was a few years back...) Now lastly, and the reason why I will never go to them or recommend... IS because My father called and said he has 4 tires he bought himself from the internet, NOT from TFT, needed them on and balanced and 4-way alignment... the guy on phone, said, "no problem!" made apt for today, we went there (QUITE the trip on bad tires mind you), was instantly and interruptedly, "NOPE we don't do outside tires." I was upset, swore a little, then this... Dominick, a "worker"(I GUESS?) there, told me not to swear or get out, he then walked up to the counter at me all ghetto-like, like he was about to do something, rofl... BOY, DO I WISH HE DID...Arrogant jerk! Anyways, I complained to supervisor about the other times in past few years, he said "nope that doesn't happen here" so calling me a liar basically... trying to save face... Trust, respect, and competency are key component for good customer relations. All three were lacking in my experience this morning. I came here 3 years ago and had all 4 tires replaced and asked that one of my old tires be kept as a spare. The young man at the counter graciously (so I thought) offered to give me a tire that they were no longer selling instead. how nice ... right? Well as I discovered the next time I had a flat .... i was given a tire and rim that do NOT fit my car. I went in today to purchase a replacement tire which I was told was in stock when I called the day before and spoke with Destiny, i was informed that what I needed had to be ordered and would purchased at twice the price. As if that wasn't bad enough the man at the counter treated me like I was cognitively impaired. When I expressed that I needed to ensure that I had a spare tire that fit my car he continued to ask exactly what I needed - one to replace the I'll-fitting tire in my trunk or one of the correct size. I repeatedly told him I needed one that would FIT my car, not a repeat of their mistake. Of course there is no record in their system of the ill-fitting donated tire. I do believe the first attendant had good intentions. I can't say them same about today's attendant. Trust, respect, and competency are key component for good customer relations. The staff was able to complete my appointment in less than two hours, provided recommendations for local repair options, and offered to complete the alignment, free of additional charge, once associated repairs were completed. I got 2 front tires for my Honda last year and noticed lately they were loosing air. Brought it in and John took great care of me. He explained they had been damaged during installation last year. He replaced them with just a small $12 fee for the balancing. I was really happy with how he rectified the problem. Bought new tires from town fair tire and was told to come back in 6 months for free rotation. Went back there in 6 months and made an appointment for tire rotation. Took a day off from work to have my tires done on scheduled appointment and was told I wasn't in the computer as having an appointment. I was then told I could wait 2 or 3 hours to have my tires rotated. I was very upset over the whole situation and told them to just forget it and that I would never again buy tires from town fair tires again and that everyone I know will be told what happened to me and hopefully they wont purchase tires there as well. I had one of the best experiences at this location. I had just replaced all 4 of my tires in may and somehow i got a hole in the side wall of my tire. I went in there fully expecting to pay for a whole new tire. I knew it was out side of the 30day warranty. TJ was so amazing when we dropped off my car. He managed to get the car in sooner then anticipated and even took the initiative to talk to his manager and surprised the heck out of me, they covered the cost of the tire. TJ saved me a great deal of stress and money. I was BEYOND thrilled. I did not ask for a discount in any way, to do this on my behalf WITHOUT being asked is TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE! When all was said and done, he even helped me and my husband set up an appointment to replace his two older tires. Even made sure that they had the tire. TJ and his team are the absolute best! Customer service was great! He was very friendly, quick and efficient. Bit of a wait, but that's normal. Wasn't the cleanest, but decent enough. Went in for a patch job for one of my tires. They plugged it and even filled up the air in my spare. Only cost $6 for a quick fix. Most likely will return for future tire buys/patch jobs. read more

We had an appointment made for 4:30pm and they were very rude and almost like mad that we had a reserved time. They proceeded to tell us that sometime in the evening they would get it done....everyone who entered after us was taken before us. Great location and great selection of tires. Most people know what they are doing and talking about, but occasionally I was left feeling as though what I was asking went in one ear and right out the other. Got a new set of rear tires for my Hyundai, tire pressure adjusted and alignment done. I was told I was good to go and once I started driving all it was doing was wiggling. Went back again, asked for them to adjust the alignment. They did another tire rotation and 'adjusted' the tire pressure for free to fix the problem. I went to Goodyear to have it actually fixed. Turns out that due to a bad alignment, my tires became cupped. I apologize if this turns anyone away from this business. They are excellent at finding tires, but unfortunately I wouldn't go back to them for an alignment. read more

Yes they have great deals here, and like most retail stores, they push the product lines that benefit them. But if you do your homework this is the best deal in town My problem is with their customer service. I realize they may need to keep strict business hours, but don't sit and read the newspaper and drink coffee right in front of your customers as they sit in their cars waiting for you to open. We ordered all season tires online and had them installed with Town Fair Tire early spring. We didn't have a problems at all. It was an easy transaction. Fast forward a few months and my tire pressure light is coming on every so often. Once I put more air in that tire, light turns off. So, the TPMS is working but something is off. Since I was close to Norwich, I went to that location and they weren't helpful so I came back to the New London one. Since I had a spare TPMS from a set of tires/rims from my car, they easily swapped it out for no charge. Sweet! I did have to come back a few days later because the TPMS light came on but they took care of me then, too. I'd call to make sure they're free or even make an appointment to guarantee your spot. The service counter employees are super pushy, tried to get the same sized tire as my other three, but because I didn't want to buy four tires, they couldn't even get that right. Never going back and I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone. Well played, now my truck looks dumb and you suckered some money out of me. I purchased Goodyear tires from Town Fair Tires a few years back. Although they weren't cheap they did beat everyone else's price. Over the last year my tire light has been coming on every now and then. I checked the air pressure on all of them and sometimes one or two would be low. I thought it may be due to the changes in temperature. In the last few months it's been happening every couple of weeks on all 4 tires. I took it to Town Fair Tire where I bought them to see what was going on. They stated that one tire had a nail in it and the others were leaking around the rims. They used bead sealer and said I should be fine. A month later it happened again and when I went to put air in the tires, I noticed that bead sealer was smeared all over my rims and some on the side of the car. I didn't notice it previously because I hadn't been driving the car. I took it back to them and told them they were losing air again and showed them the mess. They had couple of guys come out and try to remove the mess on the rims in the parking lot. Then they took it in the shop. Again they put bead sealer on the rims and when I got home I noticed again that it was all over my rims. The work quality at this place sucks! How can you let something like that out of the shop? Obviously the bead sealer didn't work before, why do it again? The rims are cast not steel so there isn't any rust. Their tires may be cheaper but their work quality is not worth the time you have spend getting them fixed. I wouldn't recommend Town Fair Tire to anyone! read more
