I have had this place on my "must try" list for awhile and I'm very glad I finally got around to trying it! The service is top notch. Incredibly friendly and very helpful with the menu in sorting out which sauce pairs best with the chicken katsu and they offered up a ton of sauce samples so we can really figure out what we like the best. The teriyaki was a little on the sweet side for me, but the blue lagoon and basil sauces were delicious (even though the blue coloring messed with my head a bit lol) The chicken katsu was delicious. So fresh! It stayed crunchy even taking it to go, which is a huge plus. As great as it started, they definitely have some small areas that they could improve on. Both the udon and the white rice tasted overcooked. The textures were off a bit. The fruit salad had lots of good fruit options, but every single grape had a small stem attached to it still. Is that a huge deal? No. Is it annoying to pick off or out of your mouth? Yes. The regular salad and the veggies were almost all cabbage. I ordered the salad assuming it was some lettuce blend, but it was all shredded cabbage and I found that a bit disappointing. On the plus side, I still tasted the salad dressing and it was delicious! Great place I discovered in upland next to sprouts! This isn't the biggest place, but there are some seats inside if you do want to dine in. What I like about it is that they make it simple, you order a base, a protein, you order a sauce and it is $15 just like that. The katsu was crispy and the beef was tender.
