La Michelada is a new restaurant. We stopped in after seeing a couple walk out talking about how more people need to know about them. They just opened up where the captains grill used to be. It's a 5/5 for me! Ambiance - Still looks like the Captains Gill, it's nice. It's comfortable, clean (clean bathrooms), and the music is good (favorable for conversation). You could dress it up or dress it down. Service - the wait staff is attentive, helpful, and sweet. They were kind to my kids. The food didn't take long. Value - Taco Tuesday $10! I got a whole plate for $15 Food - another win it's authentic Mexican food. Best Michelada I've ever had! The rice reminded me of my Mexican mom's rice recipe. They nailed the basics. I ordered the chicken enchilada and it was good, a bit salty, but I think that's because they use cotija. Overall - you have to check this one out! read more

Just tried this New Mexican food & bar spot and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing honestly tasted like my grandma made it, full of flavor and super comforting. The drinks were just as good, especially the micheladas... definitely on point. Service was fast and really friendly, which made the whole experience even better. This place just opened, replacing what once was captain grill. We did try the micheladas and a shrimp appetizer (picture attached) and they were delicious! Michelada had a great taste and a tiny bit spicy (not complaining, it was good) and the shrimp also had a good flavor. Service was really good, our server was super attentive. The guacamole tasted like all lime, the Horchata was gritty and my chicken quesadilla (didn't think you could ruin a quesadilla) but had no cheese and the chicken had a very weird flavor. The food is really good. Large portions. The owner and his daughter are very attentive . Lots of seafood based dishes but they have tacos, burritos and chicken enchiladas too. Great cocktails,, house-made aqua frescas, more tame than their sister locations in Monrovia & Fontana but a nice edition to downtown. read more

My friends and I stopped her for a quick lunch after flying into Ontario International Airport. We were all really impressed with the food, the drinks and the staff. The owner checked in on us several times. It is a bright open space with both indoor and outdoor seating. The lunch menu is very well priced and the portions are generous. We had the chicken enchiladas with green sauce and the beef birria tacos. Delicious!! The complementary tortillas chips and salsa were on point. The margaritas were well balanced and very enjoyable. First of all the service was not there. They took forever to come over and during our meal, not once did she check on us. Now the worst part,I ordered the shrimp ceviche. She brings me a bowl of raw shrimp and told me that's how they serve it. I understand it's ceviche, I'm latina, but I know when it's completely raw and it should not be served that way (wish I had a pic). I tried it because I felt bad sending it back, after 3 tastes I almost threw up. It was nasty and horrible. She didn't offer to send it back or to replace/refund it. It was a very disappointing experience, I will never come back nor will I recommend this place! And I got FOOD POISONING! Service is so bad they promoted a watch party for the world cup went with my friends a hour and a half early they stated it was reservation only but if we wrote our names down and it was passed 6pm and people did not show up at exactly 6 for their reservation we get to take the table so we waited it came around to 6 they had 2 empty tables and what did the hostess do act like they did not see us we waited 15 more minutes and the game had already started we were right in front and the hostess went up to a girl she knew and was like heyyyy girl ur tables ready ur reservation for 6 and mind u it was already 6:25 at this point and the girl was like yes im late is it cool and she said yesss ofc come with me so the hostess lied to us and other ppl we were frustrated and told her and she said sorry they had a reservation at 6 so a bunch of bs don't go here waste of time and a bunch of liars read more

THIS IS SOLELY ON MY EXPERIENCE DURING "FIFA" MEXICAN GAME We have been here plenty of times, we remember the bartender Raul by his name because he is on point! The only one behind the bar, chingandole and serving everyone. Our disappoint comes from the 2nd Mexico game; they coordinated poorly!!! Offering "reservations" instead of offering to first come first serve: ONLY because the tables were open for a while, they came in late and were not even "regulars" or consuming! Service was poor that day. Diana was catering to the people she "knew" instead of walking the floor and checking on everyone. ***ALSO, THERE WERE A GROUP OF girls at the bar (heavier girls, until a dude joined them and he started drinking) and couple of guys that were not consuming, they were not drinking, not eating! Just chilling. The first 1 hr of the game, all they had was diet coke and club soda with lemon (hey, if you don't drink, that is fine, but order food, consume! Otherwise, let someone that is willing to drop their money seat there) - don't just warm up the chair! HOPEFULLY THIS WEDNESDAY'S GAME; * THEY PLAN OR COORDINATE BETTER; SET A DRINK LIMIT! * No reservations unless they are getting a bottle, or bucket minimum (etc) * Bar seating: drinking is a must! As mentioned before, we have been here plenty of times, one of the first ones to come when it opened up and a regular in Whittier, so hope they do good, especially after the world cup; so remember, people's experience now is going to set expectations for future visits. I just had to visit this location after finding out it opened. I have been to the Fontana and Monrovia location before. Ordered the aguachile and mixed ceviche tostadas and it was amazing. The staff was friendly and the service was excellent. Our servers checked on us frequently and the manager even stopped by to have a brief conversation with us. It felt authentic and genuine. I would recommend this location to anyone that wants to experience delicious Mexican food. Thanks again for the great service. Would definitely come again. read more

First time experience. Loved the food and the atmosphere. The server and everyone working was very polite, helpful, and on top of needs. We ordered fish tacos, shrimp tacos, chicken plate, chicken nachos and a kids meal for our entire family. Nothing was bad! It took a bit to get but when we got it, everything was hot and fresh. So no complaints. We also ordered margarita flights and a beer and both were delicious!!!! We'll be coming back. read more

Best smelling bathrooms!!! lol I'm really big on that. Especially in Upland ,(if you know what I'm talking about ) Food was perfect authentic Mexican dishes. I didn't try rice or beans strictly taking about the ceviche , birria tacos & shrimp tacos. Fresh seafood is a hard thing to find. Bartender Raul very quick cool. Owner bought my wife and I a tequila shot which was awesome. Waitresses are really nice. Beers $6.50 ish not too bad , $5.50 when you get draft (avg) overall we spent about two hours hanging out at the bar after the farmers market this Saturday.
