Great store and the people were very helpful. Easily the best coin shop on the island.read more

Decided to make a Yelp Account today because of this business. Today was the second time I went…read moreinto this store, and almost certainly the last. The first time several months ago, the staff was somewhat friendly, even though I felt their prices were unfair. There was a weird discussion where they talked to me about refining costs, and melting down gold bullion coins, such as $50 U.S. Gold Buffalo coins and other numismatic coins, which obviously no store nation wide is doing, nor would ever do. Clearly not true and I am unsure why they would feel the need to lie about something like that. Jewelry: sure. Today when I went inside, the staff was not very friendly and everyone ignored me but Jeff. I was looking to sell and it was awkward and uncomfortable the very short time I was there. With spot price near 4,100. They offered me 3,700. I didn't try to renegotiate, or even show them what I had to sell. I told them, "that is way too low," and I then left. I cannot imagine anyone giving away $400, multiplied by however many ounces, plus the premium they are going to make on each sale. To me that is very greedy. Those are pawn store prices, not what a reputable coin store would offer, which makes this place extremely disappointing. Beyond disappointing actually. To the point I recommend to everyone to avoid this place, even in spite of the fact they have a very large and unique selection. I presume this practice is common here because most people are desperate for cash and will reluctantly take abysmal offers; but then that also makes this offer predatory, not just insulting. I also presume they take advantage of the fact that there are not many coin stores/bullion dealers in Hawaii. I miss Vince so much at Ali Coins, in Kaneohe Bay. He closed shop earlier this year, but he always offered pricing close to spot, minus or plus a few dollars. Extremely fair and good guy even though he was a bit eccentric.
