As someone who understands how impactful and helpful reviews are--both to the consumer and the owner--I am compelled to share my unpleasant and unfortunate experience. Let me preface this review by stating that I have been a customer at SecureSpace Self Storage for the past three years, 2021-2024. I've rented up to three different spaces at the same time (#500, #202, #73) both for personal and business use. Today, that is no more. December will be my last month here. Here's why: Today after unloading my business equipment in my storage space #73 (which had no lighting by the way, so I had to use my phone light the entire time I was unloading), I realized it was a few minutes past closing time 6pm. So I quickly gathered my belongings to leave. I got to the code panel to exit at 6:08pm. The panel prompted the manager to assist in opening the gate; he arrived at 6:10pm. When he arrived he sarcastically and condescendingly asked if I had seen the sign that read it closes at 6pm. I confirmed and asked to be let out. He then said the following statement, "If you do this again, I will have to terminate your lease." A baseless and inflammatory response. No questions asked, no customer care, no relational data collected. Only assumptions, disrespect, and sarcasm. Since when is threatening a customer and lack of empathy and courtesy thereof reflective of effective interpersonal managerial communication skills and customer service? Whoever this manager was, clearly lacked respect--something that can't be bought. Very frustrating, disappointing, and unfortunate. read more

Got a unit in August and the price increased in Dec 50 dollars. Came to get some things out and noticed a piece fell off the lock THEY sold me. I took it to the office they said "looks like someone tried to cut the lock" I was never called or notified via email of this. Then proceeds to charge me 20 bucks for another one. Luckily, none of my things are missing (from what I can tell). The "manager" doesn't know about the security schedule (his words) and is probably the rudest person I have ever had do deal with. They raised the rent after only six months instead of the one year that was promised. They say oh well that's how it goes. Also the place is overrun with rats. There was a dead rat in my space. All my stuff stinks and I had to clean all of my bins. There should have been some kind of notice about the problem. read more

We are clearing out my late father's house and needed a place to store furniture and other items until we can sell or otherwise dispose of them. Edward was friendly and very helpful in helping us determine the size space we would need. Also, our daughter previously rented space from SecureSpace and was also happy and recommended them to us. I originally posted the below review 6 months ago. Not sure why it's not showing up so I'll add it here but with an update since then. From 6 months ago: They REALLY REALLY need to step up the security here. Each time I go to my unit, I see another storage unit that was broken into. They dont even mess with the locks most of the time. Instead, they just bust in on the flimsy doors and bend them open. I've had my locks sawed at before. Luckily they didnt get in that time. The place has razor wire on the fences, cameras everywhere, and the main gate locks at 6PM. Yet, units still get broken into all the time. How is this happening? Is there not someone on site 24/7 that is notified if the cameras pick up activity after hours so you can call the police? Today's update: Gate entry is 7am. I show up at 9am and can't get in. The gate won't open and the keypad to open the gate is dead. This has happened multiple times in the past. Can't get help from the office because they don't open until 10am, and no one answers the phone. Very frustrating because I must get to my unit to get items to do work for the day. Now I can't do the work I have scheduled and it's affecting my business. This needs to stop happening. On the plus side, it does look like they updated or beefed up the security camera system. read more

Don't put your stuff here!! It started when I rented the storage over the internet in December of 22. When I arrived to put my things in the manager let me know that they were out of locks (I paid for one over the internet when I reserved the unit) but they would put a lock on my storage & as soon as they received locks I would be provided with one. Well I didn't get my lock until February! In that time I made several trips to my storage & was unable to get in because no one was on the property OR didn't answer the phone to let me in. By the time I did get in my storage The Bay Area had experience horrible rain storms. Water got into my storage & RUINED clothes of mines!! When asked about the insurance (because of course I paid for insurance) they gone tell me it doesn't cover water damage!! What kind of bullsh*t is that!
