Over the years I have used several storage facilities in the East Bay, extra stuff, selling a house, moving, etc. So I have my little list of what I look for: - helpful employees - good security - clean facilities - indoor unites with some level of climate control - easy access to the units - reasonable rates It seems like a basic list, but not all places provide all this. Security Public Storage does provide this, and more. The facilities are some of the cleanest I have seen and the security is very good. The staff (Lisa, the manager, in particular) is friendly and helpful. And while a lot of indoor facilities have poor access to some units, this place seems fairly well laid out and organized. They also have a good variety of unit sizes and shapes to meet your specific needs. The office sells a number of items that may be useful at a reasonable cost - packing boxes, bubble wrap, tape, locks, etc. At first I thought the rates seemed high. But when I shopped around I realized they are in line with the area. and the other facilities didn't seem as nice. read more

If you really don't mind how people treat you, then this is the place for you. For me however, this was the most unpleasant retail encounter I have ever had. The on-site manager, Kimberly, was the most unprofessional, impatient, and rude employee I have ever encountered. She acted like I was a complete inconvenience to her. When I ask her the difference in the prices between a 5X10' space and a 10X10' space, she said I don't know - we don't have any. So I said if you did, how much would it be. Again, I don't know - depends. After deciding on the smaller unit, she emailed a DocuSign document to my phone. I was having some difficulty getting it to re-size on my phone so I could read it and had some difficulty getting the finger signature to work on such a small screen size. She became more and more impatient and finally said, I can't believe you can't do this, it's so easy. Finally, I called her out for her rudeness to which she replied "Sorry, I'm not feeling well". I guess that makes it ok to be rude? After I got the contract signed, she gave me a code said go around back to the back door. I asked which way I needed to go to the back, where to park, and if there was a map to where our unit was. She said No map! Then said just go down the side, you'll figure it out. So I went around back, entered my alarm code - no problem. Standing next to the elevator, Kimberly comes walking down the hall. So I asked which way do I go when I get up to the 2nd floor. Then, she starts raising her voice and said "it goes up! You don't know that an elevator goes up! Oh my God!" I had simply asked her which way to go when I got off the elevator. Wow! That was it, it was all rudeness that I could stomach for one day, so I demanded my money back and asked for the name of her supervisor to complain to. After repeatedly asking for a supervisor contact, she refused to give me the name of her supervisor and refused to give me a refund while I was there - said she would do it later in the day. I take pride in being a nice guy and pretty patient for the most part, but I just can't tolerate rude, condescending attitude. You know, maybe she didn't feel well, or maybe she was having a bad day, or maybe she's just a jerk but none of these justify how I was treated there. Also, their units are very pricy compared to other storage businesses in the area - this one just happened to be very close to home. The facility IS nice but not so nice that you should have to deal with people like Kimberly. We are in the process of combining two households and after an amazingly fast (3-day) sale of House #1, I found myself in need of a secure, clean, safe, location for many of my possessions. I'd never rented storage space before so this was my 'Virgin' experience! I simply couldn't be more pleased with Security Public Storage of San Ramon! Their attributes are numerous: -People: Lisa (Weekdays) and Bruce (Weekends) are always incredibly warm and welcoming. They go out of their way to be helpful and provided me assistance with every aspect of the process: determining space needs, how to pack the unit, methods of packing boxes, packaging materials, carts, dollies, tape, scissors, etc. etc. etc. Anything and everything I needed, Bruce and Lisa were there. Even fill-in help, Nicholas, remembered both our names after one visit; talk about feeling like a welcome guest! -Location: Ideal for me; minutes from the office at Bishop Ranch and seconds off I-680, it couldn't be more convenient to get in and get out. -Facility: I'm a big fan of A&E's 'Storage Wars' and was initially apprehensive about what to expect. My fears were quickly laid to rest after touring the facility. Originally constructed as a Breuner's furniture facility, the building is built like a tank; cement floors, extremely high ceilings, State of the Art Security (cameras everywhere and individual alarms on each unit), and a climate controlled environment, insuring my stuff stays the way I stored it. Additionally, the place is spotless; I think dirt and debris are scared to be there! Amenities: in addition to the physical storage space, they have plenty of heavy-duty carts and dollies (regular and furniture) to assist with moving whatever you have. They sell (reasonably priced packing supplies, and even have treats (chocolate, pretzels, and water) for guests; very welcome after struggling with a huge couch! This place is great. First of all, the units are all climate controlled and secured with both key codes and padlocks. Almost as importantly, the staff are super nice, friendly, and helpful. This is the only climate controlled facility in San Ramon, so they are pretty full most of the time. The manager, Lisa, worked with me via phone to make sure that I was able to rent a unit in time for my cross country move, and I was able to complete the application and make payments online before I moved here. The hours are convenient, too, 7 days a week. They have an elevator to the second floor units and dollies for you to use. When you come in, they always offer you bottled water, candy, and pretzels. They are very sweet and welcoming. The place is spotless, too. Who knew the whole process could be so pleasant? read more
