If somehow Bangkok became Canton or Hunan - this would be Thai food. But it appears the great General Tso has laid siege to this so called 'Thai' establishment. Lets get something straight, I love Chinese food or what I know of it. But when I go to a restaurant decorated like a scene out of "Ong Bak" - I expect Thai food. It isn't bad food. It is actually alright. But I've had my fair share of Thai food at far superior eateries, mainly in Woodside or Manhattan - and this mirage of a restaurant serves what appears to be a Chinese interpretation of all things Thai. For example, the pineapple fried rice = Chinese fried rice, with a few slices of pineapple, my vegetable dish in basil sauce again tasted like something right out of a place like 'Hunan Balcony'. The 'Thai' spring rolls - were the equivalent of any old spring rolls at your local take out. While I did not sample it, the 'Pad Thai' couldn't fit the vaguest NYPD description of Thai food. Again the food is not bad - but it is not Thai. As the conversations around me drifted towards our table, I could hear voices rasped by cigarettes and hairspray exclaim "this sauce is so good I could drink it", "pass the duck sauce", and "Oh my God, I love Thai food!" It made me sad, because I too love Thai cuisine - but I don't appreciate being lied to. read more

Yeah ok so after having some of the best Thai food in NY in Brooklyn my boyfriend and I decided to find a place local that could satisfy our Pad Thai craving. Enter Seeda...found on the one and only Yelp! pretty good reviews so we decided to try. First went to the website which I must say was pretty schnazzy (is that a word and if so did i spell it right?) impressed we order our fav Chicken Pad Thai. The 12.95 price tag was a bit steep for noodles but I figured we would be receiving a full dinner. To go with it we splurged for an order of veggie spring rolls as well. 30min later we are positioned in front of the TV Pad Thai in hand...I must say I was disappointed in the portion size. For 12.95 a plate i expected more then half of your average chinese lunch special container. I say half because half had Pad Thai and half had uncooked blanched bean sprouts and shaved carrots. I could see immediately from the way the they stuck together and seemed to mush in with the chicken the noodles were overcooked. But still optimistic I picked up my fork and dug in.... ....... ..... ...... ....... ...... .......really? No, really? It wasn't the worst or inedible but it was not even worth 5 of the 13 dollars paid for it. To make matters worse, my boyfriend takes 5 bites and says (and i quote); "Babe, I think I'm nauseous" He proceeds to jump up run to the bathroom and empty his tummy of what little pad Thai he consumed. Honestly,if given a choice I wouldn't choose a Thai restaurant over a Chinese one,or even a pizzeria... unless,of course,we're talking about eating Thai food at Seeda Thai. I've been here twice,the first time was with my family for my mom's birthday,and the second for dinner with a friend. The restaurant itself is clean and pleasant to look at. My only problem with this location is the parking;I wish they had a nearby parking lot (other than CVS or the lot next to Seeda Thai which I doubt is for its customers). Of course I'm not here to discuss restaurant parking...I'm writing this to comment on the Thai food,which is fantastic in my opinion. Both times I came here for dinner I had Pad Thai,my go-to entree at Thai restaurants (and I don't have Thai very often). The second time I went my friend had one of the restaurant's Green Curry dishes,I forgot what it was...if you're a fan of spicy foods you might want to try one of their curry dishes because I started tearing up against my will. Many years ago, Seeda had a buffet. This was my idea of heaven...all the Thai I could eat! At that time, we went as often as possible. I hadn't gone back for years, and decided to visit the other day. I ordered Papaya salad with Grilled Chicken. The salad was on point, spicy and flavorful dressing, but lacked the traditional dried shrimp to make it authentic. ( It should be noted that few restaurants include dried shrimp. ) The grilled chicken was more oven-fried, yet still good. Our appy of Chicken Dumplings was delicious...really heavy garlic- YUM! Anyone who rates this restaurant poorly has no idea what they're talking about. The food is consistently outstanding. I often go for the Chicken Pad Thai which is better than any other Thai place I've been to in Long Island. The menu offers many various spices and Thai dishes. I've had the Massaman Curry a few times which is also great. My wife and I go frequently and she loves having the sticky rice with her meals. We almost always order a Thai Iced Tea here. All their beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are top notch. The menu ranges from super traditional Thai dishes to the more popularized ones. Something for everyone. The service is always good to great and the staff is exceptionally friendly. We drive and extra ten minutes to get to this place because it's so much better than places near us. I can say enough how much we love this place. Give it a try and you'll likely be going back. I was looking for a Thai place in the neighborhood but should have extended my scope of search and not pick the closest establishment. The Setting was nice and cozy and it had a Zagat sign on the door so i was kind of optimistic. It wasn't a busy evening either, Maybe about 5 patrons in total. The server took our order and on one of the meals i ordered he suggested i order rice with it and i asked why and he said it goes very well with rice and i asked him if it was that good a match then why not have it with the order at all times and he mentioned that his boss was frugal and i was like "Alas". When the stir fry arrived it was bland and tasteless and made me wish i went to a better thai restaurant. You don't have this remorse feeling until you try bad thai. We returned one of the stir frys simply because it didn't taste right and substituted it for the Scallops Samrod which arrived later and wasn't fully cooked. I mean how do you serve raw Scallops ? It takes less than 2 mins to cook so we returned it and were still billed for it but i didn't even mind at this time cos i was just ready to leave the place. I star for the awful female manager here. I asked for a clean menu because the one I was given has food all over it. I also informed her that my chair was wet. Her response was, it's been a long day, we're all tired. It was 9pm and I can understand that but it's the tone and body language that turned me off. One of my fave places. Their drunken noodles are the perfect Spicy and so flavorful for me. Their soups and salads are good, their curries.. really everything I've ever had from them are really tasty. I've had a couple of drinks from them years ago and they were also very yummy. I really like their panaag curry the best! Really good dishes here and they come in large portions. Also the cook makes each plate look fancy, it's really cute how they decide to do the plating. They have drinks and the most delectable desserts! The atmosphere is dimmed and very romantic. The only thing that had me miffed was that once they cleared my table it took 20 minutes of us trying to flag down a waitress to give us the bill. If you're ever looking for a change of pace with Asian cuisine, Seeda Thai is a good option away from the Chinese take out or sushi spots in VS. The place doesn't get too crowded and the service is never lacking. The thai iced tea is an excellent drink to complement dinner, especially some pad thai. The prices are ok and will certainly be higher than what you might expect to pay for Chinese take-out. Even then, the portions are rather good for the price. Note: Parking is tricky depending on when you go. First, the CVS next door has a miniscule parking lot for their customers as is; maybe you'll get lucky and be able to park there. There's street parking on both sides of Central Ave. but it's metered parking. The meter actually isn't so bad if you're used to the meters in the city. What are these frogs legs that everyone mentions? I don't remember seeing them on the menu today =( Frogs legs or no frogs legs, the food was good. Ordered the calamari (with a kind of sweet and sour sauce), chicken dumpling (ground chicken with peanuts and garlic on top), and tropical rice (entree size with pineapple, peas, raisins, cashews, and chicken.) Used to eat here often when I was little but at the time I was picky and didn't like thai food. All I remember from when I was little is the ice cream. Figures. [Edit] Okay so we tried the frogs legs, and they're delicious. My mom was pretty irked though when we got the check and a suggested tip was on the bill. Local gem that we've been going to for years. I stick to my normal order of yum nuur salad (salad with sliced steak and lime dressing), sauteed beef with oyster sauce and onions with rice. Ordered 5 entree meals for my family and was left significantly disappointed. Got pineapple fried rice and shrimp fried rice .... and frankly I make better fried rice than this. Lacked color and flavor & I don't understand why they don't believe in taking the tail off the shrimp? Not to mention the shrimp was not good, overcooked maybe. Tryed this place for the first time. Prices are extremely high for the portions they serve. I ordered sweet and sour pork, there were 8 thin 1x1 inch pork bits, my wife had sweet beef, same issue, the pinaple rice is about 1 cup roughly. Paid $55 dollars for three meals and every single one was dry. I literally oiled a pan and refurbished my food with spices and such. I shouldn't have to do that.
