i've always been a big fan of Sees candies every year. I buy boxes of the candy bars to hand out This year I'm too embarrassed too. They literally are half the size of what they used to be for more money. All you taste is chocolate you don't even taste the nugget or anything on the inside I had an old bar in the freezer and I matched it up in size and it literally was half the size and if you look at the picture the wrapper, they still have the old picture and then you look at the candy bar and it's literally half as thick as what it used to be and even shorter in size very big disappointment. I love buying Sees candy, and the location in Chula Vista Center has been my store for over 30 years. I have always been greeted with a nice smile and welcoming words until today. I looked at the cashier and she looked at me and nothing not even a smile just an ugly look! I couldn't believe it, honestly I would have left if I didn't have to buy a gift. I think the sales lady was named Henrietta, I'm so upset that I can't remember her name! When I was in line to buy the candy she looked at me like I was going to steal it! I come here regularly for small gifts or a chocolate rush and boy do I love them. See's candies embodies the perfect business model. Going into any small see's candies shop gives you happiness. You are promptly greeted with a "hello, welcome to see's" and given a chocolate with the option of dark or milk chocolate. Their employees are kind and seem to really enjoy their career. I want to say thank you to the kind staff who kindly helped a man out who I believe works at the mall as a security who came in saying he needed a quick chocolate of any kind because his blood sugar was low. He seemed close to fainting and the lovely ladies were quick to provide him one without hesitation. He quickly threw it in his mouth without delay and took a few breaths while quickly chewing it and instantly felt the difference. I'd like to say I witnessed a miracle because had see's candies not been there, I'm scared to say I'm not sure where that man would be. I hope he's all well now and I commend this location for being quick on their feet and providing a great service to all of us in the community. Went In for the usual Father's Day gift . Place was clean and peanut brittle was available. Thank goodness . Jasmin was super sweet , kind and patient . My son was paying with his very first bank debit card and he forgot his pin . Jasmin was super nice and reset the register about 4 times as he kept inputting the wrong PIN number . She empathized with him as she remembered having the same experience herself . She suggested running the card as credit as he couldn't remember the pin indefinitely. I was really excited to visit this location since I have had good experiences in the past but sadly, it was a huge disappointment. I had an incredibly frustrating experience at this specific location due to the rude and unprofessional customer service. From the moment I walked in, the staff seemed uninterested in assisting me. Specifically Henriqueta who acted like I was bothering her when all I did was stand in line and wait for my turn quietly and patiently. When I asked a simple question, the employee responded with a dismissive tone and gave me a vague answer. I tried to remain polite, but the lack of respect was shocking. It's clear that they don't value their customers, and it's such a shame because the product/service itself is good. I grew up in Chula Vista, and I have very fond memories of walking to what used to be at the Chula Vista mall. It was about a 2 mile walk from our house, and my mom would take us there and we would visit seers and at that time seers always had a candy shop inside but on special occasions, we would go to the sees candy store and it was a very memorable moment for all of us to go there and get chocolates now as an adult I go there and I get my favorite butterscotch, lollipops, and, some specialty candies nuts and chews and never have. I ever felt so good when I walk in that place the staff is very warm and helpful, professional friendly, kind and everything that you would want and a local candy store. Thank you for making my memories come true because while I grew up here, I left the area for about 40 years after I went into the military. Came here to check out the chocolates and get my free sample. My daughter loves chocolates so we found some milk chocolate balls that were $7.95 a bag. I didn't want to spend too much on chocolate. The quality here is pretty good. The lady who gave me and my daughter samples was very nice. The store is clean but small. Everything was easy to find. They have small packages of chocolate in the center of the store. There were so many different kinds of chocolates that had nuts, caramel, etc. The store is located at the corner of the Chula Vista mall near JC Penney. You get a free sample of chocolate every time you come visit the store. No purchase necessary. There's plenty of parking in front and around the store. I highly recommend stopping by. Went to uni sushi decided to get candy with family so while the kids wait in car husband and I get candy. Get to the table picked out about $20 of chocolates. These ladies hands me a small bag and says thank you, now fyi it's about 5pm in cali and I dont if you order like this before but it's about 15 to 20 pieces of candy. So I said what happened to the box she said I cant take the candy back I said ok then she hands me the smallest box they have, I said it's not going to fit she said it will, I said ok. Guess what I get to the car and sure as crap it didnt fit by then the candy started sticking together. I tried to put them in to where even after the kids I still had 3 left over the box. I was visiting from out of town and needed a gift. I decided to try See's Candies in Chula Vista. The candy is the best I've ever had and the display was gorgeous. So many choices! My favorite is the new dark chocolate peanut butter hearts! The service was superb and everyone was friendly. What can I say about this place, it's pure evilness and decadence. It's a chocolate lovers paradise. So many good choices, what to pick, I guess I'll have to try them all. They always give out free samples. Lady asked if I had a sample yet, I had, but I said I won't pass it up if you give me another, and she did, even gave me a piece that I hadn't tried. I'm such a bad boy! Chocolates so good that it makes my mouth water. Sure it costs about $16.50 for a one pound box of chocolates, but it's the best you'll ever have. I can have chocolates in my house and they'll last weeks or months, but with the See's candies, lucky if they last a week. They're like potato chips, you can't eat just one! Given the current covid pandemic I understand certain establishments are required to operate much differently than they otherwise would- which also results in the general public trying to work with places also. The procedure as of now is you have to purchase your orders online, which is what I had done. I customized my box like I would at any other time, but the online process is a bit different in that you choose the percentage you would like to fill your box (ex: 10% is the equivalent of 2 pieces of the same candy.. so on) at check out I had chosen all my chocolate options and with that did 10% per chocolate. At some point that changed once the payment processed went through, changing the percentage from 10% to 25% per chocolate... meaning all of my options changed from 10 different chocolate flavors filling the box, to only 4 types (6 pieces of 4 flavors). I explained to the employee my dissatisfaction and how I am unsure where the error happened given that I can clearly see on my end all of the chocolates I had chosen (showing her that my options are in the check out cart).. she said her manager said that need to order ANOTHER box online and they cannot fix it. I am not spending another $30 on a box of chocolate. Being in the hospitality industry, customer satisfaction is always my main priority- I cannot let a customer leave disappointed, especially if there is anything I can do to change it.. the manager did not care about my concern regardless of her working for a multimillion dollar company. This is a great SEE'S CANDY! They are centrally located. On an 'end-cap'/ corner of the mall building. (sometimes, in the Mall's they are inside the building). It's easy in/out. They are a 'full service' store, not just a few boxed items or holiday stuff. They have a full counter if you want to choose your own or want Rocky Road or something out of the ordinary. They are well staffed. If it is a holiday month, they will have a good number of people working in order to serve you better. They give you the customary 'free sample'! It doesn't get much better then this, if your looking for your SEE'S CANDY FIX!! How can you not love this place? YES, it gets a bit busy around Mothers Day, V-Day and Christmas, but that's for a reason. The ladies are always sweethearts here, and are always generous with the freebies. It really does help if you come prepared with what is is you want in the box, and remember that if you're just buying a pre-prepared box, you can skip to the front. If you're not sure about what the hell it is you want, grab a guide and study it.
