Easily in my top 3 bakeries in South Bay. I bought a cannoli, cheesecake, and tamales for my sister and tried most of them. The cannoli was still super fresh and crispy with some chocolate inside as well. The cheesecake had a whipped cream and almond shavings on the outside with a layer of strawberry jelly on top. It satisfied the cheesecake flavor I needed. The tamales are really good here and never dry. Whenever I would come here, the bean and cheese tamales would usually always be sold out. Today I finally finally got to try one for the first time. It was so good that I wanted to go back inside and buy more, but I had already bought other tamales for my family to work through. Every flavor of tamale will not disappoint you, whether meat or vegetarian. Generally speaking every item here is made with love from these little older ladies. They make everything as though as they're making it for their families because everything tastes like they perfected their craft. They are easy to talk to and I love their customer service every time I come in. They are always joyful here. They now have seating if you want to enjoy your treats there. I love this bakery. Been coming here since they had the old location. They have the best cheesecake in soutbay in my opinion. They have a decent selection of pastries baked fresh and at reasonable prices. My favorite are the tortas. I always get the milinesa tortas. The bread is fresh and the sandwich has a good amount of heat to it because of the peppers. It's good enough for two meals and is $12. They also have a big selection of tamales at $4 each. Those are very good as well. Their January staple of their Roscas are unbelievable. They are so different than any other Roscas in the area. The bread is soft and fresh and the ingredients taste like they were just made that day. At $50 for a small one they are not cheap but the best I've had here in San Diego. My only wish is that they opened earlier on the weekends. Waiting till 10 AM kills me lol. It's mostly a takeout place and is very cozy. It can get packed during peak times. I came in here while waiting for my matcha drink next door at 12 hr matcha. All of the baked goods looked super yummy. I bought a couple labubu cookies as a gift and my friend loved them. I work nearby the bakery. Over the years, many employees requested a cake from here for special occasions. This trip I ordered a half sheet strawberry. The cake is a traditional white with whipped cream filling and fresh strawberries. The cake is extremely thick. I counted four layers. There is whipped cream in between each layer with fresh strawberries smack in the middle. Around the outside of the cake is sliced almonds and large whole strawberries with a sweet concoction that embellish the top. The cake was a hit with everyone. It is delicious. The ordering process was easy. Patty took my order. I had questions on what size to get. I was ordering for 50 people. They have a template to show you what the size of the cake is. It makes it stress-free when you can see how much you are getting and can visualize how large each piece will be. The cost for a half sheet is $80.99. Since the cake serves 50-60 people, I think it was very reasonable for the quality that you receive. I ordered the cake four business days before my event. They require a deposit but I chose to pay up front in case I was running late on the day I went to pick up the cake. When I arrived to pick up the cake, it was not decorated. However, it only took them a few minutes to add the strawberries and do the writing. Do to the thickness of the cake, cutting it is quite a challenge. Unfortunately, it does not always look pretty as the layers sometimes separate especially around the border. The taste of the cake makes up for the messiness. We will continue to purchase cakes from Mexico Lindo. read more
