I was in the old "Fox Hills Mall" and couldn't help but to peak inside one of the only two (the other being JCPenney) original remaining businesses (still in their exact brick and mortar location) since this mall first broke ground back in the day. While navigating a relatively brief line, I was lucky enough to stumble upon a good sale going on from items from this past easter . That's when CSA (customer service All Star) and new recent assistant manager Lily dropped in and chopped it up with me about both product, See's story in general, in this location in particular. And while I ultimately showed some discipline and passed on the product, I still went ahead and grabbed that viciously tempting cashew brittle covered with white chocolate for my sample. In today's fast-paced and me me environment, sometimes management won't take the time to have a brief conversation with their patrons, much less one that shows authentic interest. Can't help but making a stop every time I pass a See's Candies store. It's just perfect self-treat all the time and their rotational variants always make you feel there's something to look for. My friend and I were at Westfield Culver City for lunch. Afterwards, we walked on over to See's Candies. Btw, they are on the second floor across from Macy's. It's probably the smallest See's Candies shop I have ever shopped at. Not alot of walking space. I feel the chocolate selections are minimal, too. However, they had what I wanted so I'm good. My go-to(s) are milk pecan buds, milk almond buds, milk rum nougat, dark almond nougat, and dark scotchmallow. Yum!!! Can't go wrong with these chocolates. Got about half a pound. The lady who assisted my friend and I was very friendly and pleasant. First time ever, we were asked which chocolate we would like to sample. Usually we're given a sample of their choice. But let me tell you -- for a place built on chocolate, that customer service is dry as day-old pound cake. You would think a shop full of truffles and toffees would be warm, energetic, and friendly -- the kind of place where folks smile at you like they know you about to spend too much money. But no. You walk in and it feels like you're interrupting something. Half the time you're standing there waiting while they look right through you like you're part of the window display. Yes, the prices go up every year but this is high quality, absolutely delicious rich chocolate and candy. I think their chocolate currently is $29 a pound. I'll treat myself a few times a year to my favorites. See's makes a great gift for chocolate lovers, too. They have fun seasonal flavors and holiday items like big chocolate Easter eggs. It's a small location that's kinda confining and the line moved swiftly. A few years ago the policy was the customer had to ask for a free sample here. On my last recent visit, all customers were offered a free sample of their choice by courteous employees. My favorites are the truffles, Milk California Brittle, dark chocolate covered marzipan and Toffee-ettes. Rocha toffee while cheaper, doesn't taste nearly as fine as the Toffee-ettes. They have a huge range of dark, milk and white chocolates, something for all preferences. They also sell really flavorful lollipops (I describe them as sophisticated adult ones) and I like the gummy Sour Stars. This is place to be when you crave a top notch sweet treat! read more

Still a big See's candy fan. However this last visit, I was browsing and saw an employee being snappy telling a polite teen he can't have any more samples? Not sure what happened but I did see him pick out and bought a box. I always thought See's didn't have a sample limit (well I witnessed other stores giving out many samples to customers in front of me that didn't end up buying anything too) but was just taken back by how that kid was treated especially when he was a paying customer. Ellee greeted us with a huge smile as we walked in and FYI (this is our 2nd visit in two days). She remembered is from the night before. We joked about how she stayed over night. She offered us samples and answered a couple of questions. Her customer service was A+++. She gave us her honest opinion about one of their flavors and we agreed. I was there for Valentine's Day. The line was perfect, I noticed the lady ahead of me with a child in a stroller, I smelled baby diapers and chocolate when I walked in, kind of a turn off, but I stood in line anyway. When my turn finally arrived, it because really crowded and as I was trying to tell the lady the candy I wanted I felt like I was overcrowded, the lady and the baby stroller was still ahead of me just sitting there near doorway practically blocking doorway, I spent my fifty dollars on my favorite chocolates even though the lady putting my box together wasn't too sympathetic of my situation, I couldn't see over the counter to see her put candy in box like I usually can and it was very uncomfortable, even when using my debit card. I must say the staff that is managed under Ellee is OUTSTANDING. They are a reflection of her bubbly energy. Their truly "Chocolatiers". I didn't have a particular chocolate in mind, and she introduced me to a mango piece that was delicious. While I was checking out, I recall a customer coming in and asking for a potato. Found a Clump of Hair in my Scotch-mallow Chocolate Candy at See's Candy that was sold to me at the Culver City Mall to me yesterday. I popped the whole candy in my mouth and found a clump of fibers in my mouth after much of the candy was chewed and dissolved, and then ... well, I spit this lovely bunch of hair out. Then I just got sick and started to vomit and throw up. I have no idea what this hair or fiber is from or what type of hair it is. Regardless, it isn't supposed to be in anything meant to be eaten. I have contacted See's Candy and they offered me a gift card for my troubles and invited me back. But....after this, I don't think I can even eat chocolate anymore. This was beyond gross. This was the worse experience I have ever had in a retail store. The worker who helped me and my mom was rude, had an attitude, and clearly didn't want to help us. All we asked for was a pound of the pecan chocolate and she became upset. My mother asked the price and instead of telling us, she pointed to a sign and rolled her eyes. When we finally paid my mother asked for a sample of the milk chocolate buttercream and the employee threw our chocolate and went to help someone else. I feel this was a race issue because me and my mom are black and the people she decide to help and be nice to after she threw out chocolate on the counter were white. She was perky and cheerful with them and rude to us. I will never shop at this see's store ever again! And will make it a point to tell everyone I know not to shop there either. This See's Candy is my favorite. The customer service is always phenomenal, and the selection is comparable to the big See's on La Cienega. Sometimes the line can get long, especially during the holidays, but that's to be expected since the chocolate is amazing, and so are the staff. Angie and Elle are very knowledgeable about all of the candies, and give excellent recommendations if you tell them what you like, what you're looking for, and even if you want to try something new. Also, this location is usually pretty stocked up with the grab and go boxes and brittles, which is perfect for a last minute gifts, because who doesn't love See's? My family has been coming to this location since the 90's. I'm so happy to see that they're still a Culver City staple. read more

Wow this is sure one super busy See's Candies. I came here around Christmas time and the line up was out the door. We have a gift certificate for 1lb which we purchased from Costco to use here. I always find that its better to get box and choose what you want in it then to buy the pre-packaged ones. The pre-packaged ones seems to be a bit less or lighter than 1lb. Anyways picking and choosing, you can always making sure you get what you want. See's Chocolate is so yummy. Love their chocolate. read more

Store: The store was very clean and presentable. Staff: I was greeted immediately, after the warm welcome I was also provided with a sample. I am from the East Coast and have been gifted Sees in the past. However, I had never been to an actual store. I shared this information with the Store Manager (Ellee), and she shared some company history and provided samples of popular items. Ellee has been by far the best customer service representative I have encountered in any retail shop, her knowledge and dedication are unmatched. Product: Kona Mocha, California Brittle, Pecan Buds, and Lollypops. These products are on my favorites list! Overall, I want to thank Ellee and her team for making me feel welcome and that my business matters. I love coming here because they are always happy to give you samples. After trying out their rocky road (which was delicious) I decided to stick to the ones I always get, so I picked up a half pound of dark chocolate almond clusters, milk chocolate almond clusters, and their almond toffee thing (I apologize but I forgot the name, please see the picture). I've never need disappointed with quality of the candies or the customer service at See's. This store is located on the second floor in the middle of the mall. Parking here can sometimes be difficult, because although there's a lot of parking, it's a popular mall and it often fills up quick.
