Located at the Culver Steps this is a place i've been wanting to try so bad! I'm so glad i did because it was delicious. I got an Ube Match and it was really good. A perfect amount of both. They were super packed but even so they got the order out quickly and were very kind. There is indoor and outdoor seating which was nice especially with the beautiful outside weather. They don't validate parking so just make sure you know that!
Reminded me so much of Japan. Tucked near the Culver Hotel, this spot has a peaceful, zen atmosphere with lots of trees , seating indoor and outdoor in the Culver steps. I ordered the strawberry matcha, made with fresh strawberries. I don't like my drinks sweet so I ordered 0% sweet, and the natural sweetness of the strawberry was just enough (the staff was nice to give me a side of sweetener for me to add if needed). The matcha is high quality- you can actually taste the bitterness, which I appreciate. I spotted the matcha ice cream and cheese tarts that I plan to try next time when in the area. Lucky to find street parking on Main Street. Side note: Culver Blvd and Main Street is an all-way pedestrian signal where you can cross straight or diagonally.
One of my favorite matcha ice cream spot and they also have nice outdoor seating for people watch. Inside was decorated well and clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I ordered a matcha ice cream and matcha latte. Ice cream was soft and tasty, not very sweet at all. Matcha latte was ok. I have to pick one, I would just get the ice cream. Highly recommended.
Great matcha place in Culver City! The line is pretty long when I came but moves pretty fast. They're pretty efficient in getting your drink. The drink I got was great and the matcha flavor was great! There are lots of parking structures nearby you can park at. Check it out if you're in Culver City!
Whenever I'm in the Bay, I always make a stop at Maruwu Seicha. They have some of the most consistent and delicious matchas! I'm so excited that one opened in Campbell - I usually go to the one in SF Japantown, but parking around that area is a hassle. This one is conveniently located in downtown Campbell in a really cute and homey shopping area. I love their plain matcha latte, less sweet. You also can't go wrong with a matcha snow top or a Hokkaido snow top. Both are incredibly decadent! Their matcha is a bright, lush green and is the perfect balance between nutty and umami. It's not too bitter or grassy. Their hojicha lattes are also yummy. Specifically, their hot black sesame hojicha latte is a treat on a cold day. It tastes a lot like the Chinese black sesame soups that I grew up eating, though with a bit more of a roasted tea flavor. Service is quick, so if you wanted to grab and go, this spot is awesome. They also have seating inside if you want to sit and chat. I can't wait to come back and try out their soft serves. Their matcha lattes live rent-free in my head. Please come to OC!!
Located at Culver Steps in a prime location to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather. Food 3/5 Matcha soft serve - Slow eater + hot day = do not get the waffle cone. Hilariously, it was seeping through the tiny, tiny holes of the cone. Strong matcha flavor, 10/10. Matcha cheese tart - I did not enjoy the combination of these two flavors. On two separate occasions we've tried the hojicha and matcha but they are overdosed in sugar - not for us. Service 4/5 Standard, nothing special. Ambiance 3/5 Tables were dirty and their outdoor chairs are uncomfortable to sit in for long periods of time. The line for the business is also awkward but nothing that can be controlled due to the layout of the cafe.
I needed a place to do work a little later on a weekend afternoon and Maruwu seicha did the trick! I really enjoyed the matcha for its strong matcha taste and chunks of tofu BUT I wish I got a different drink since this one felt more like a dessert. Nothing wrong with the flavor though! Service was pretty quick and kind!! There's ample seating indoors and outdoors. :)
Pleasantly surprised by the matcha soft serve! Definitely get this over the gelato. If you've had Tea Master's soft serve, the flavor of the matcha soft serve is similar, but it melts faster here. Good portion size for splitting between 2-3 people after dinner. Service was good as well! No line around 8 PM on Monday evening and the workers were very quick to put orders out and happy to answer questions. Ambience - casual, all seats were occupied at 8 PM. Overall, very glad to have another good dessert option that's open til 10 PM in Culver City.

I was very impressed with how quick the staff was with orders even on a friday, i didn't wait long at all. my drink came out fast despite the rush they were experiencing. the matcha americano was light & tasty. it's not sweet though, just FYI. i did like it !! the matcha latte with snow top was nice & creamy. i think it's a great addition to the matcha scene specifically in culver city, but overall in LA? it's alright. i definitely think ktown has better matcha options if you're willing to venture out further.
Quick service. chose the most popular drink the soy matcha. Note: the foam was made of dairy. I was debating to get matcha with ube but was told they use paste for ube. I prefer the ube jam. I chose 1 of each of the egg tarts. Soo Good! I'd come back for the egg tart! Parking is close by.
5/6/2026 Second time here at Maruwu Seicha. HOJICHA LATTE + SNOW TOP Got it 100% sweetness, medium-size. Hokkaido whole milk. Last time I ordered the matcha latte with 50% sweetness and it did not taste good. Happy I got it with 100% sweetness and it was not overly sweet! Really enjoyed it! Full hojicha flavor with the creamy snow top which enhanced and complemented the hojicha flavor. The snow top by itself has a light cream cheese flavor, but mixed in with the hojicha, you can only taste the creaminess of the snow top. This was delicious! Recommend for hojicha lovers! HOKKAIDO MILK + MATCHA SWIRL on waffle cone. Creamy, luxurious mouthfeel! This was delightful from beginning to end! The hokkaido milk was super creamy with that sweetness in the milk. The matcha had just the right amount of sweet and vegetal matcha flavor that complemented the hokkaido milk ice cream. This was so good! However, my one regret is getting this on a waffle cone, as I was already full and the waffle cone was slowly getting soggy, as I took my time in eating this. The waffle cone was delicious though with a vanilla waffle flavor with a crispy texture that wasn't too thick or thin. This is a must-try! I came here to get the hojicha baumkuchen and matcha financiers, which was advertised in their stores. But they haven't had any for awhile now. They've said they do not get them in often. Wish they would take down the advertisements if they no longer sell them in stores. Came in after 1:00pm on a weekday. The lines do form here, but even my second time here, it was not out the door. Lines move, but not super fast. You might need a smidgen of patience and even more to wait for your order. SELF-ORDER KIOSK AVAILABLE There is a self-order kiosk right next to the register, so you can order there as well if the person in front is taking too long to order. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was good. No attitude and everyone did their job. INDOOR + OUTDOOR SEATS AVAILABLE Indoor tables and seats are always packed and the tables are close together (which is annoying), but there are outdoor long wooden tables and benches as well. There are other outdoor seats around Culver Steps, so there's no issue with seats. Maruwu Seicha is quickly becoming my favorite matcha / hojicha drink + gelato place! Definitely returning!
Stopped by for a quick pick me up and service was quick! Easy to find parking and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We got the split gelato: No. 3 matcha and Hokkaido milk. Both were good but I prefer the matcha one. Color of the matcha gelato is very vibrant but it was actually sweeter than I expected- was hoping for a stronger, original matcha flavor...the Hokkaido milk one wasn't bad but I personally think Indigo Cow's is better. Also ordered the pistachio matcha latte but was unfortunately not my fav, the pistachio flavor was too overpowering; I couldn't taste the matcha even after only getting half sweet (which was the default sweetness on the self order menu). Felt like I was just drinking pistachio milk lol. Would not order again.
The quality of their matcha lives up to their hype. Just from a sip I knew it was super high quality. It's very strong. I have gone here a few times. They have a number of seating options inside and outside. I'm not sure if the wifi works here yet but it's a comfortable place to do work at and surely lock in for a few hours. They have a number of options too varying from matcha or hojicha with snowtop (cream tops), added soft serve, gelato and cheese tarts. Every drink I have tried so far has been 9/10 - 10/10. I know people complain about the price point but for LA and the quality you are getting this is worth it
Was waiting forever since they opened for a slow down in line to try. It is definitely worth the wait. The matcha here is very authentic with the type of thickness and flavor I am used to, not the watered down over sweet version other places try to sell you on. The ube and matcha cheesecake dessert is pricey at a very small bite but for a try me out day, it's worth it. It is not overly sweet. Drinks are on point to what ube and matcha should taste like. The ice cream is really good too. Just wish it was a bit more milky but the known bitter flavor is definitely there. So yay!!!!! read more

Maruwu Seicha - Culver Steps As a self-proclaimed matcha snob, I'm pretty picky about where I get my matcha... and this place absolutely gets my vote. The iced ceremonial matcha with a side of Hokkaido gelato was incredible. The matcha tasted fresh, smooth, and vibrant with none of the bitterness or overly sweet flavor you find at so many cafés. The Hokkaido gelato cold creamy richness added as a side dessert to my drink perfect for a hot summer California day. The vibe at the Culver Steps location is modern, clean, and relaxing a great spot to take a break and enjoy a quality drink. If you're looking for authentic, high-quality ceremonial matcha, this is the real deal. I'll definitely be back to work my way through the menu. A new favorite! read more

phenomenal pull for matcha lovers. the matcha latte has a really strong matcha flavor, whilst not being too bitter. i recommend getting the hot matcha because i do think the ice dilutes the flavor a little bit. the cheese tarts were so rich and creamy. the soft serve had a nice texture and matcha flavor. the store is located in a nice plaza with a parking structure. they have a good number of seats (indoor and outdoor). the service is also pretty quick. i've been to the SF location, which i think had a speedier turnaround time, but i wasn't waiting a long time at all at the culver city location either. read more

This spot definitely reminds me of Japan! We got the matcha latte with matcha soft serve and hojicha latte with Hokkaido milk soft serve. They were both amazing. The matcha is very umami, smooth and is the perfect shade of green. The hojicha latte has a nice roasted tea flavor and is so milky with the soft serve. Both delicious! It is located at the Culver City Step, which has a convenient parking structure right under and plenty of outdoor seating. read more

The staff was nice and it's behind the Erewhon building with very cute indoor and outdoor seating. Very cute interior like a green Japanese cafe. The ice cream looked really good and I'll try it next time. The Hawaiian Ube Matcha was my favorite as the ube was authentic and not too sweet. It was also delicious in cheese tart form. Strawberry matcha was very healthy and real strawberries, not strawberry jam. The Christmas ball was interesting because even with a big scoop of ice cream, it wasn't sweet. Very creamy though. Unfortunately, their hojicha was the weakest. Not very strong but probably okay for the casual drinker. I recommend 50% sweetness as it was close to 25% sweetness for most boba places. They didn't have other sweetness levels so it's 50 or 100. I think 100% would be super sweet. They also offer almond, whole and oat milk. Hopefully, they stay for a long time as it's great to have an authentic matcha store close by. read more
The matcha soft serve here is absolute top tier--creamy, rich, and not overly sweet. I got the Uji matcha swirl, and it completely hit the spot. The vibe inside is clean and modern, making it a great little pit stop for dessert. However, a quick heads-up on the parking situation if you're using the nearby structure: Maruwu Seicha does not provide parking validations. A helpful pro-tip if you're trying to save a few bucks--Salt & Straw is right across the patio and does validate for free. Might be worth popping over there first or splitting your dessert stops accordingly if you're parking in the structure! read more
There isn't a matcha drink place I won't try. Happened to be in the area. The drinks came out pretty quickly and there were plenty of seats and table. Got the matcha-vanila swirl ice cream, matcha strawberry latte, matcha latte-okinama boba, and the black sesame hojicha latte. The ice cream was pretty good. The drinks were at 50% sweeteness but probably needed more. The okinawa boba just tasted like regular boba but slightly undercooked. This place is a bit far from me so probably wouldn't come all the way out to try other drinks. read more

Great interior and cute set up! The drinks are all good, I tried the strawberry matcha which was really good. There is no artificial flavor in it which was perfect for the overall taste. The service was great as well :) The ONLY on reason I would dock a point/star, is there is no menu to look at while in line. Pricing was on par with LA! read more

The drinks here are bomb and the vibes are on point. I had the hojicha latte and my fiancée had the matcha latte, and both were really good. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for quality drinks. It does get popular and crowded, but it's worth the wait. read more
Great matcha and boba. When they give you your drink, it comes pre mixed so you can see that it's mostly matcha and just a quarter milk which i prefer (i prefer strong matcha over milky or creamy matcha). We subbed oat milk which sometimes gives it an odd aftertaste at boba places but it was delicious and smooth tasting. The boba was also fresh and the perfect texture. It was relatively busy at 4 on a saturday but the line moved quickly and drinks came out within 10 min. They were all sold out of their cakes but we did get a Hokkaido cheese egg tart - bit too cheesy and rich for our taste. No validation unfortunately so if you park in the lot right by the Steps, it will be $7 per hour. read more
Maruwu Seicha for some matcha on a beautiful Saturday afternoon with the family. Appreciated the ambiance and set up of Maruwu Seicha. It's very welcoming and has an open space. Good amount of seats available inside for enjoying your matcha drinks and treats. Also plenty of seating available outside, open space with a huge green matcha ice cream statue outside for viewing. Maruwu Seicha offers both great customer service and yummy matcha specialty drinks and pastries. During this visit we ordered Strawberry Maycha, 2 fresh Ube Cheese Tart, Hokkaido Cheese Tart and Uji Matcha Cheese Tart. The Ube Cheese Tart was my favorite because you can actually taste a slight hint of ube and it was freshly baked. The Hokkaido Cheese Tart was also yummy and not too sweet. Matcha Cheese Tart was on point and you can taste the matcha and it's perfectly blended with the cheese. We can't wait to come back and try other matcha treats on Maruwu Seicha's menu. read more

Authentic Japanese matcha ! Best matcha place in Culver City! Beautiful working space with outdoor seating. Dog friendly. Service was so prompt and quick. Free WiFi and lots of tables to sit. Not overly crowded and no line when I came on a Saturday ! Very highly concentrated matcha with minimal sweetness. Love when there is a true bitter matcha flavor. read more

The interior is modern and specious with a good amount of tables. Order came out super quick! -Matcha latte with snow top (5/5): I really enjoyed the drink! I got it at the recommended half sweetness with the original Hokkaido milk which was a perfect sweetness after mixing it in. The matcha was strong and rich and not milky. -Ube cheese tart (5/5): I ordered a matcha cheese tart but maybe they didn't have it but it was no problem since I love ube and the tart was really good. So happy they opened a store in SoCal since I've been wanting to try them! Clean and modern interior and there was a good amount of people sitting and studying even at 5PM. Quickly ordered at the cashier and it was ready within a few minutes which was so speedy! Matcha latte + snow top (5/5): got it at the recommended half-sweet and with the original Hokkaido milk so I could try it out, even though I normally go for oat milk. I really enjoyed it! It had a nice sweetness and wasn't overly milky. The sweetness was perfect, and the matcha was strong and fragrant. The snow top tasted a bit cheesy(?) at first but good overall. Decent drink size Ube cheese tart (5/5): I ordered the matcha cheese tart but maybe they were out since I received the Ube one, but no problem since I also love Ube. I was torn between the strawberry matcha and the ube matcha (the internal debate was real), but the ube just felt right in the moment. No regrets. I may or may not be back tomorrow for the strawberry to fully satisfy my curiosity lol. I heard they use Hokkaido whole milk (which sounds dreamy), but since I was heading into the office, it wasn't worth the risk or curiosity and stuck with my usual alternative, almond milk. I got 0% sweetness and honestly? It didn't need it. The matcha is beautifully aromatic with that perfect balance of green, earthy depth without being bitter! (To me anyway!) Hella smooth, refined, slightly indulgent. A little cup of serenity before clocking in!! Am I being dramatic? Maybe. Maruwu Seicha had been on my list for a while, so I was excited to try it, but it ended up being a bit underwhelming. I ordered the signature matcha pistachio latte and a matcha latte with boba. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the matcha pistachio at all. The pistachio flavor was too overpowering and not well balanced. The drink was also very thick, which made it hard to finish. Even after letting the ice melt, it still wasn't great. I ended up throwing half the drink away. It was definitely unique, just not for me. The matcha latte was better, but nothing special or memorable enough to make me want to come back. Service was quick, and the ambience was really cute, but overall, the drinks didn't live up to the hype. read more
The drinks tasted incredibly fresh and balanced, with the tea itself actually being the star instead of getting buried under sweetness. I also love how they have soft serve ice cream - it was refreshing and much needed during a hot day in LA. You can tell they pay attention to ingredients and preparation, and the flavors came through clean without feeling artificial or overly heavy. The shop also has a calm, modern atmosphere that makes it easy to hang out for a bit instead of just grabbing a drink and leaving. Service was friendly and efficient, and the staff seemed happy to answer questions or give recommendations. Definitely a spot worth adding to your regular rotation if you're a tea lover. read more

Long line on a Sunday, but it moves fairly quickly. They were out of soft serve which is what I really wanted to try. The strawberry matcha latte was just okay and that was disappointing. The store is cute. They also had cheese tarts, but we didn't try it. read more
Sad be to writing this review, but wanted other people to know so they don't make the same mistake. This review is mostly for their customer service. Stood in their long line after dinner for something warm & sweet. Matcha is caffeinated so I asked if they can do half caffeinated. The barista suggested hojicha for a less caffeine option, I told her I had never had it but she encouraged me to try. When I got my order it was not my cup of tea (pun intended) grainy & flavorless, so I asked if I can swap out for a matcha since I've had that before and especially since I just paid $8 for this drink. The barista said she would have to ask her manager, the manager came & said they can't switch it out since that's what I ordered. I understand that, but don't encourage people to try new items if you're not willing to swap it out for something else. The manager offered me tap water instead... Anyways I wouldn't risk being adventurous at a place like this, it's a waste of $$. Will not be back. read more
Overall a solid matcha spot but a few quirks that I hope get sorted out. I really liked the matcha latte with Hokkaido snow. It was rich without being sweet and not overly mixed with other ingredients so it stays true to the matcha flavor and style. The matcha tart was nice, again not too sweet, velvety, and the crust was good. The ordering is a bit wonky since they tell you your number and if you're not paying attention or hear the number right, you won't realize that your order is ready because the receipt doesn't show the same order number.
