This place is meant more as a bar for getting drinks with friends than for eating out. The drink menu is decent, but the food menu is limited. In terms of their food, this place is a Cali-Mex place. If you're looking for pure Mexican cuisine, this is not it. For what they do offer, the food is excellent. Fresh ingredients, a bunch of seafood options, and the tacos here were excellent. I would only come here for the happy hour though, which is 7 days a week from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Otherwise, everything is overpriced. ​I stopped by for a coworker's birthday happy hour and the space itself is super cute and quaint. I stuck to just a sparkling water with lime to drink, but definitely took advantage of the happy hour food menu. I tried the vegan fish tacos--I think the "fish" was jackfruit--but they were honestly pretty bland and definitely needed way more sauce. On the bright side, the drunken nachos were amazing. I would 100% order those again if I ever ended up back here. Tried to get into Patent Pending, but the wait was exactly what you'd expect without a res at a hidden bar in Flatiron. Long. We were pointed here instead, with the promise of cocktails just as good. I wasn't expecting much on the cocktail front for a non-speakeasy, but I was wrong. We started with the highballs and tried both the coconut and the sage. They were proof-forward but still incredibly easy to drink, which is a great recipe for "you'll feel this tomorrow." We also tried the Noche de Vita. Incredibly smooth, and the mix of mole and smoked saline is what I assume gave it its balance. Definitely not the same vibe as Patent Pending, but you also won't be standing in a hallway for 45 minutes hoping someone leaves. Great drinks, easy to get into, and absolutely worth the detour - even if just for a drink before your drink. read more

very low key entrance but a really nice ambiance and decor once you're inside. the place is underground so don't miss the entrance, it's right after a korean restaurant if you're walking east down 6th ave. we ordered the chayote, and chicken tacos. they come two per order, which i thought was a bit expensive for between 15 and 18 dollars. They were good, but not out of this world. the best thing we ordered were the chips and salsa, it comes with four different kinds of salsa and they were all good, we even got a refill on the tomatillo salsa. i think it would be a good place to have an after work gathering or group event, but a bit rough for a date since it gets very very loud, it's hard to hear someone from across the table unless you yell. read more

Had a late dinner at Seeyamanana, greeted quickly by a waiter as we entered the lively restaurant in the Nomad area of NYC, it was very noisy full of happy people, we wanted to dine outdoors enjoying a beautiful early fall evening. She grabbed two chairs and set up a table outside. We ordered queso fundido which was served with a basket of fresh chips. The cheese was delicious and very stringy making for a fun moment with every bite. The phone number listed doesn't work. When trying to find the restaurant, there are zero signs indicating where it is so you're guessing that the one place that says taco (inside the restaurant) is the correct location. We were sitting by the windows so we could tell others were having the same issue. Because we were by the windows, we were freezing because of the draft that kept coming through the glass. The restaurant's atmosphere was amazing and our server Mikey did an incredible job (he himself gets the 2 stars that I gave this restaurant). When we arrived, we didn't realize it was a prefix menu for Valentine's Day since there was no indication online about it and no way to call to ask about it. The menu was also not organized in the best way so we had to ask for a clarification on how it was going to work. Due to us being vegan and vegetarian, we had to ask for accommodations which they happily provided however the food taste was extremely mid. We received the corn and the only flavor was from the cheese (which I ate). The spice was just spicy with no taste so it wasn't pleasant to eat. We wish it had more than just lime juice on the side. Same with the tacos, it looked great but the flavor wasn't there. At the end we ended up paying $90 for a meal where we were full but not satisfied. When it came to the bill, it also wasn't correct so we had to tell them to redo it. The restaurant has a ton of potential by adding more flavor to everything. All the other aspects were great but because of the main reason that we came not being great, we aren't sure if we'd come again. Btw: we had the chamoy beer which was amazing! read more

The last one was a chili sauce, was spicy but felt a bit too oily for me. The chips were clearly freshly made and were thick and crispy. For appetizers we got the taquitos, delicious. Crispy and didn't feel over fried. It had the right amount of filling in it and the salsas it came with complimented it well. We also got the fried zucchini blossoms. They were amazing and such a unique take on zucchini blossoms. They were crispy and the filling was a good blend. As my main I got the mushroom barbacoa plate. The mushrooms were really good and well marinated. I liked that they had a different blend of mushrooms and it was smoky and spicy. Seeyamanana is a Mexican fusion spot that is quite hidden - it's in a basement so look down!! I appreciate the variety of vegetarian options on the menu, but I was a tad let down. I liked the Vegan Fish tacos (did not taste like fish but they had a great flavor), the Frozen Colada, and the Prickly Pear cocktail. The Nachos were solid and the Queso Fundito was decent but got cold pretty quickly. The Empanadas, Mushroom Tacos, and Elotes were pretty subpar. read more

This place is an absolute skip. I never ever write negative reviews, I worked in the NYC service industry for years and fully understand off nights, but our experience at Seeyamañana was truly a nightmare. The food was good, but the service was shockingly rude almost from the moment we sat down. We asked to move tables because we were cold by the door (it was 30 degrees last night) and it was obvious the staff was annoyed. We weren't rude just saw an open booth and asked to switch which was clearly not ok to do at this place... they said that booth had a specific request reservation, ok fine, so I said if something else opens up can you let us know please we are really cold when the door opens and that was a big no no. They ended up giving us the original booth "because the reservation cancelled". We were so thankful and helped move all of our stuff including waters to the new table. From that point on though, we were basically punished for the rest of the night with snide remarks and attitude from both the servers on the floor. Before even asking to move, my friend ordered a skinny margarita and was given a spicy one. We didn't complain, didn't send it back, didn't want to be "those" customers. But after moving our second server kept disappearing, and when she did show up she rolled her eyes, acted irritated, and made it clear she didn't want to be anywhere near our table constantly walking away before we could even speak. We were even being overly polite because we could tell she didn't care for us. We actually wanted to order more drinks and food, but she was gone for about 40 minutes at one point. No one else came by either. No one checked in once, we always had to flag someone down. Drinks took forever, and at one point our water bottle was taken and we were never given another. All of this we were honestly willing to let go...until another server suddenly dropped the check on the table (unprompted) and said, "We have another reservation coming in a few minutes and the 20% tip is included." That's it, delivered just like that. We always tip at least 20%, so that wasn't the issue, but autogratting a table of three in NYC is bizarre especially after your server was literally missing and gave "I hate your guts" vibes the whole time. Both servers clearly disliked us and it was clear they know they don't have to give good service because they're going to get 20% no matter what (and they would've from us even without the autograt and with the attitude). The way the check was delivered though made the whole thing feel even ruder but at least validated our feelings that they did, in fact, not want us there... the whole thing was so bizarre. The worst part was being kicked out after being ignored for nearly an hour and being treated like we were the worst people on earth the whole night. No one told us the table was needed at a specific time at any point, no one offered to move us to the bar, no apology, nothing. There was also no wait and open tables elsewhere. We were just told to pay and leave and only given a few minutes to do so. We spent $200 before tip for three people ($270 with tip) and we would've spent a lot more if anyone had actually come by to take the rest of our order. The manager eventually came over and offered to remove the tip after we said to the waitress how rude that was when she came to get the card to pay but that wasn't the point. The issue was the attitude from the staff and the very clear message that they simply didn't want us there and then the "but we'll take your tip" attitude. It was uncomfortable, confusing, and honestly unlike anything any of us have experienced as a NYC locals, born and raised. Can't stress enough how bizarre the whole thing was. There are so many amazing restaurants in the city with great service, great vibes, and great food. This place is a hard pass based on service alone. The entire night felt like a fight just to exist at our table, and I've never felt more unwelcome anywhere. We did nothing to deserve being treated like that and it ruined our night. We literally couldn't believe it happened. I hope no one else has the experience we had. read more

I love it when places are nice AND cool and Seeyamanana is one of the best places for cool niceness (or nice coolness) that I've ever been to. Coming down the stairs to this quasi subterranean place, you immediately feel like you're entering a different world...something that is an open secret but still feels a little bit like lambada...the forbidden dance! Came here for drinks before dinner with friends and from the second we walked in we felt welcomed. Music was great and the bartenders were great. My old fashioned was supremely delicious. Well, this is going to be an interesting review to say the leastest. Long story short, this place ROX! The ambience makes me feel like I'm sitting in the Mexican basement of my abuelo (grandpa). The only negative of the ambience was how small the table was!! It made me be slopbucket... The table surface area to plate surface circumference area was not the most idealist to say the leastest. Now onto the comida (food), we hit the floor running with the queso. It was not much of a cheese dip but more like the filling of a Mexican mozzarella stick. The chorizo was fab tho, a beautiful taste in me Boca (mouth). Next we got the tuna tostada, the tuna was fre$h af but a little too fiery to say the leastest. I'm not the biggest fan of tuna and spicy but it was great! My girl acquaintance took a bite and it exploded, turning her into slopbucketa. Lastly, ....... Drum roll please....... THE MAIN EVENT (event event event) *echos*. The entre of the carnitas plate. I loved the variety that came with the plate. It had carnitas (duh) rice and beans, guac, cilantro, onion, and pico. I came here with a group of three on a Saturday night around 9-10 PM. The establishment was fairly crowded but thankfully there was one open table that we could snag. However, because the restaurant is pretty small it was very noisy and difficult to hear what my friends were saying even though they were right next to me. We ordered a few dishes to share for the table -STREET TAQUITOS: The flavor of the taquitos themselves were pretty bland and slightly cold as well. They did come with a little bit of sauce and it was topped with a ton of raw spinach. The flavors just did not mesh well. I would skip this dish. -CHARRED BRUSSELS SPROUTS TOSTADA: Very interesting combination. The brussels were very charred and gave an interesting taste to the tostada. They were also very generous with the amount of guacamole they put on the tostada which I appreciated. -QUESO FUNDIDO: Nice flavor of the Queso but just such a small portion of Queso to the amount of chips. A good drinking snack but really nothing amazing. -FLAN: Flavor was pretty good; however, the flan was pretty curdled and even had a large hole in the middle so you're only getting half of the full size of flan. Service itself was ok. Pretty efficient given the amount of people that were at the restaurant but food did take a bit to get to us. All in all, a fun restaurant to go to though the food was pretty hit or miss. read more

Love seeyamañana and how it's equally a great bar and restaurant with vegetarian/vegan options. I've been here a couple times and service is always excellent. It does get pretty loud especially if you're sitting under the speaker but learned that lesson the first time and loved sitting by the window. Highly recommend the prickly pear and coconut cocktails if you're looking for something slightly sweet and fruity. Chips and salsa - the 4 different types of salsa are all different but really flavorful, one being pretty spicy. The chips are fresh. Root Ceviche with plantain chips - delicious, but hard to scoop all the delicious juices/flavor from the ceviche Fish tacos - good, crispy Mushroom Barbacoa tacos - amazing! mushrooms are wrapped in a banana leaf with amazing adobo flavorful, the tortillas and fillings are served on the side. Guac and chips were good however Caesar salad tasted like grass, my chicken taco was covered in grease, and to top it off the flan was tasteless. Our waiter was nice but only checked on us once and didn't fill our water although we completely ran out.
