We were frequent diners at Segovia Little Ferry for over 30 yrs while living In Bergen County. When we relocated we were happy to discover Segovia Oakland. It's our go to restaurant for lobster which is prepared perfectly & reasonably priced. Dined here last Friday & had a wonderful meal & service. My husband always orders surf & turf & I the lobster tails. Food was delicious & plentiful with generous portions of Spanish potatoes, vegetables & yellow rice. I had complimented my server after this amazing meal and told him I wish I knew about this place 20 years ago, and he shocked me to say they weren't around then! Segovia Tavern may be 5 years old but impressed me as a long established fine eatery! I also had no issues finding food for my diabetic needs, a definite plus! We shared the Caesar salad which was hands down the best I've ever had- crisp romaine, delicious shaved Parmesan, home made croutons, and an excellent anchovy based dressing as it should be. My wife and I shared so we filled our table with the delicious Segovia platter special with lobster, scallops, shrimp, clams and mussels and a filet mignon, a seafood stuffed mushroom tapas plate and a side of spinach and another side of green beans all were amazingly prepared! Our son had these amazing lobster ravioli with shrimp piled on top and an amazing lobster cream sauce, he loved everything and his tiramisu! We hosted a private party there for our moms 80th birthday. It was nothing short of wonderful!! Joe A was the person we dealt with for the planning of the party, and also had him as our main host. He was AMAZING! Super accommodating, easy to work with and extremely helpful!! The food was stellar, and plenty of food for a family style event. I would recommend this location to anyone!!! Came here with friends on a busy Saturday night. Despite it being busy, service was great and our waiter was excellent. The food was good but the portions were almost too big. I got the beef empanada appetizer and that was the perfect size. Most of the other meals at the table were very good but enormous. We came here for my in-laws anniversary. This was my first time coming here and we will definitely be back and the prices are very reasonable while the portions are huge. Each entrée comes with your choice of soup or salad. I had the stuffed lobster as my entrée and it was huge and delicious with lots of seafood stuff into it as appetizers. We had the fried calamari and the filet mignon empanadas, which were my favorite. We also had the chorizo and garlic shrimp. I had a mojito which was very tasty. They have a unique drink menu and so many options on the menu. I'm sure that everyone in your party will be able to find something that they will enjoy. The dishes hit the table just when I was about to consider eating the napkin. And the staff? Hovering like caffeinated hummingbirds, asking every five minutes if everything was alright. So you'd think this place deserves a glowing review, right? Wrong. Why? Because "perfect" means flawless, and flawless this was not. First hiccup: when the food arrived, the person bringing it had no clue who ordered what. And, to be fair, neither did I. By the time the dishes made it to the table, I'd already forgotten what I'd ordered. The names on the menu were like Pokémon evolutions--similar but confusing. Long story short, I ended up eating someone else's meal. (It was fine, but was it mine? Who knows.) Then came the payment drama. I asked if they could bring a terminal to the table so I could tap my card like a modern human being. But no, I had to get up and walk to the front to pay at the single PoS system. I had high hopes as we walked into the restaurant. Based on the name we figured it was elevated bar food which was what we we were desiring. We discovered that it was up scale dining. Unfortunately, we were exceptionally disappointed with the quality of the food. Simply, it was bland and tasteless. The portions were enormous, each dish what I would cook and serve to a family of 4. However, serving giant portions does not make up for poor culinary quality. My wife's steak came out cold after a 60 minute wait between our soup (also bland) and the main course. While the staff tried hard, it was obvious that several servers did not know the menu in detail. When we asked the server how the steak dish was served, she responded "cheese". Imagine our curiosity when we asked "cheese...on a steak"? The dish did not come out with cheese. What I found strange was that the steak came out sitting on a large hunk of bread. I can only assume this was to absorb steak juices??? The last straw in our unpleasant dining experience was the "non-cash" credit card charge on our final bill. Seriously, you're going to charge your customer the credit card fee on top of a $100 meal! Sad! We will not be returning to this establishment. read more

Went to Segovia for my mother's 88th birthday with my family, and it was okay. The reason why it was okay was that the food was very good. The portions are amazing, the price expected service very bad. So, let's get right down to it. The food was delicious for the most part, cooked well, and portion sizes were huge. What I mean by huge is I was able to get three meals out of it! People may say the food is expensive. However, if you can get three meals out of it divided by three, this location was a bargain. Let's talk about the service or lack thereof . I know this has been an ongoing issue in most restaurants and food. Establishments, I am still having problems finding chefs and cooks for my location, so believe me, I know how hard it is. Nonetheless, the least the management team could have done was come over and let people know they were short staffed, and wait times would be a little longer than usual. They may have been too busy to come out and greet the customers and express this kind of service. However, I know there are 3 locations around, and my family ended up going to another one. The week following, which they had a perfect meal in perfect service Try one of the other locations, and see how you like it. Really disappointed. I was a long time customer --- I was used to the large portions and high quality of the food. Salad portions have been cut in half. Entrée portions are smaller. It was unseasoned, the garlic was burnt, the shrimp tasted funny, the bartender was short and didn't pay any attention to me, and the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth for this company. Today , Thursday Lunch with the Boys traveled to Oakland to go to Segovia Tavern. We had been to their Moonachie location and loved it. Have to say this one may be even better. Big thanks to Steven and Karen for taking care of our motley crew. Steven wanted to be a part of the group so he took a picture of himself on my phone. Props to him for suggesting we could split some orders so we try more than one dish. Karen gave us two suggestions that turned out to be spot on !!! The Food: we had the Sirloin Tips and the Calamari for appetizers. Fantastic. Calamari super tender and the Tips were delicious. Karen suggested the Segovia Pork Chop and the Steak Sandwich. Four of us were able to split the dishes so we could try both. We also had the Chicken Parm Sandwich and Baked Salmon stuffed with Crab. Word of caution...the portions are gigantic. Half a sandwich and one Pork Chop would qualify as complete meals. If you've never been , get yourselves to The Segovia Tavern in Oakland !!! The food is OUTSTANDING !!! A family favorite spot. The food is always out of this world, portions are enough to give you leftovers for the next few days! The inside is simple yet cozy, the best is during the winter when they have the fireplace going! I have been here for every meal and time of day. This was the first time where we had arrived for dinner with reservations and it took about 20minutes for anyone to approach the table. I understand they were definitely short staffed was just a little surprised as we had come on a Monday and it wasn't too busy. The bread given at the table is perfectly warm and soft. Drinks are a must. The sangria here is a must try, whether you order red or white. You will not be disappointed. All of our entrees were out of this world. Amazing flavor and absolutely delicious. It was the Saturday night before Mother Day and at 5:30 the place was packed. We had a 5:30 reservation but were not seated till 5:50. We were seated upstairs and after 10 minutes we realized this was not going to be an enjoyable dinner. It was loud and I mean VERY loud. A large group a couple of tables away were enjoying their food, drinks and conversation. As I talked to the other tables by us everyone was stunned at their lack of consideration for the other diners. Ever table had to talk loud to be heard. We recently had our wedding and reception at Segovia and are beyond pleased with the results. The staff accommodated our every need; Angela and Matt, who helped us with the booking and menu, were pleasant and professional always. All of our guests commented on how delicious the food was, and the upstairs private room was perfect for our party of 30 people. Met friends for lunch today and the food was outstanding! Nice presentation, perfect amount of seasoning, abundant portions and nice ambience. Two of us opted for the shrimp in garlic sauce. They were not kidding about the garlic but my friends thoroughly enjoyed their dishes! I had the salmon with mango salsa and it was absolutely delicious!! The salmon was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of seasoning! The mango salsa was not too saucy and really complimented the salmon and the dish overall. I went with my family to Segovia Tavern for lunch on Mother's Day. The restaurant was obviously very busy, but we managed to make a reservation for 2pm, so we were seated as soon as we walked in. This location seems to be much bigger than the others, as it even has a second level for seating. The inside kinda reminds me of a lodge. Our waiter, Matthew was excellent. He brought us water, bread, and menus. and quickly took our orders. Unfortunately, the usual soup option wasn't available since it was Mother's Day. So we got salads instead. The guy helping Matthew was not that excellent. He brought the salads over to our table but he was dripping the dressing everywhere. (the floor, the stairs, the table, his arm, etc. lol) It was kind of a mess. Nor did he clean it up. But Matthew picked up the slack and cleaned up after this kid after a lady at another table complained. For appetizers, we got the usual pulpo ferria and calamari. They were both good as usual. For my entree, I got the Chilean Seabass served with shrimp. It was a bit overcooked. I also got to try the stuffed salmon and seared tuna. The stuffed salmon used to be full of crab and shrimp, but it's mostly breading now. The seared tuna was a bit underseasoned on the inside, but well seasoned on the edges. After our meal, we had some leftovers. Matthew took two of the entrees to pack up (lobster ravioli and stuffed salmon) and the other guy took my dad's barely touched paella valenciana (portions are still huge at this location). We took the brown bag and headed home. Later that night, we find only the ravioli and stuffed salmon. That kid didn't pack the paella valenciana so it probably got thrown out. :'( I usually love the Segovia family of restaurants but I'd recommend any of the other locations over this one. read more

My family and I have been regularly visiting Segovia Steakhouse in Little Ferry for years now. Our first visit to this Segovia Tavern in Oakland was on Mother's Day this year. Service was a little hectic on Mother's Day but on my return visit today it was great. They are friendly and attentive. Like Segovia's other locations, they start you off with some bread and butter. The Portuguese rolls they serve are great; they have a firm crust on the outside and the inside is nice and soft. It takes great restraint for me to not stuff myself with bread while waiting for the rest of the food. The menu is largely the same as other Segovia locations and the food lives up to what I've come to expect from them. At this point I've tried a good amount of Segovia's food. I have never been disappointed. The menu is big enough that most people will probably find something they like. Though I should add that the menu isn't very vegetarian-friendly. Vegetarians should probably steer clear of Segovia restaurants. The food is tasty and servings are generally generous. On the note of generous servings, we had a good amount of leftovers on Mother's Day so naturally, we had them packed to go. The waiters took our food to be packed and brought it out to us in a paper bag. We did not inspect it thoroughly and when we got home we found that our Paella Marinera was not included with the rest of our food. My mother called to notify them of their mistake and they were apologetic-- they offered to make another order for us. Segovia Tavern is about a 20+ minute drive from home and when my mother explained this the staff offered a gift card for the value of another order of paella. Mistakes happen, but they were willing to own up to it and they made it right. Other Segovia locations are closer to me, so I will probably go there before coming back to Segovia Tavern. However, if I'm in the area they are definitely not a bad choice. read more

I'm made a reservation two weeks in advance for New Years eve. They even called to confirm a few days in advance. I arrived on time and the confirmed reservation was for 8 pm and we weren't seated until 9 pm. If that was annoying enough. They had overbooked people and even allowed walk in's they didn't turn anyone away last night. It was crazy! We finally sat down and received our drinks, bread and water. We sat there an additional 2 hours waiting for our food. It wasn't not delivered until 11 pm. Imagine seating 8 people and sitting 3 hours longer without your food arriving. :( I will never go there again. The entire night was so poorly organized. read more

Seafood in green sauce was "mehh" with only a handful of shrimp, 3 clams, few mussels and some small calamari. Usually it's loaded with garlic and full of flavor but this wasn't the case. This is my first time dining in at this restaurant, previously I just ordered catering for take out. We did a pre-valentine's dinner the day before vday and went at 4pm. Our waitress Lauren was awesome, I am gluten free and she helped me make sure my items ordered were gluten free. The portions are huge and the food is very good. It helped that Lauren was so well versed in gf accommodations it made me feel at ease, can't say enough good things about her service during our dining experience. I think the only thing I wasn't a fan of is the rice as it's a bit different in texture and could have used a bit more flavor or salt. But otherwise the main dishes were delicious and my husband and I enjoyed the sea bass and skirt steak as well as a chorizo appetizer. read more

I wrote in google too but here just in case. I went with my husband last Friday, around 5 o'clock, and the atmosphere was pretty cool and quiet. We didn't wait for the table, and the service was excellent. Our waitress did a great job! She was a little bit nervous but she did it excellent! The waiter was teaching her so good.
