This company promised there panels were the best. They promised they dedicated there service to Veterans, Active Duty, and First Responders. I happen to fall into one of those categories and that was a huge decision in us going with this fraudulent company. We have had our system for over 2 years. We purchased our system. We have yet to have our system work correctly consistently. We paid over $20,000 for our system, paid for extra panels to ensure we never go over our usage, set our AC at 79, we have a 1200 sq foot house with energy efficient windows and a brand new AC system, with all that being said, we still owe SDGE money. You can see the screen shots below of the last several months where it has been sunny every day, and yet our system hasn't produced energy. Do yourself a favor and do not go with this company. You will be out money and end up paying double as you have to pay for either the purchase of the system or the lease of the system and SDGE since the panels and the entire system do not work. Customer service places the blame on SDGE, however as much as I'd like to blame SDGE this has nothing to do with them, this has to do with Semper Solaris and the system that was installed. I have never seen a company operate like this before. The Sales Rep did a great job of selling the company, however once the installation is completed you can not get ahold of customer service, no technician, no one wants to help, but they stated they prided there business model around the owner(s) of the company who are prior military and take care of there customers especially, military, veterans, first responders. So here we are, in over two years with this company, coming off of several months of the sun shining for 12-14 hours daily, just to not produce a single piece of energy. Please do not go with this company. It sounds really good when the sales rep is in your house with the pamphlet of information and promise after promise of great products and customer service. Once they get your money either by lease or purchase, every promise is broken and you will pay for a system that doesn't work along with SDGE. Having just purchased a home we wanted to have our furnace checked out and ensure there wasn't any issues. We contacted Semper Solaris based on reviews and the fact they are veteran owned and operated. Working with Kat, we were able to have a technician out the next day. (A Saturday nonetheless!) Our TIC landlord did not give us any communication that Semper Solaris crew was coming to install the solar panels. Granted our TIC landlord didn't tell us, and it's not Semper Solaris' responsibility but when I reached out to Genevieve about our personal belongings being moved in the garage. This was her response below. "They may have moved things to install the inverter I'm assuming? Something need to be away from the inverter until after city inspection. You have to have certain clearance till it is approved. Then you can move things back after the inspector is there." Don't you know the task and assignment for each work order? Service may seem good in the beginning before work begins but falls short and there is no follow through and communication afterwards. My experience with Genevieve and team has been below expectations and it definitely shows in her response. I think your crew should be responsible for moving things back. Customer service doesn't stop when you get the money. It doesn't matter if your dealing with our TIC landlord, it's baseline customer service. COMMUNICATION IS TERRIBLE! read more

Our sales rep, Gavin, was knowledgeable, answered all our questions and didn't pressure us. He also came in with the lowest bid of the three quotes we got. Gavin told us exactly what to expect which was good since we didn't realize how involved it was to install solar. It was disconcerting to deal with a different person each step in the process but everyone was courteous and helpful, responded immediately when we called and got the panels installed in half a day. It was especially nice to be able to talk to a young vet, Manny, while we waited for the final permit approval. In the end all we had to do was flip the switch from off to on - Semper took care of everything else including registration and warranty. The equivalent trees planted on the app is a nice touch. I needed a new roof, so I called several companies for bids, including Semper Solaris. Mark Ivory came out and gave me a bid. I found Mark to be very knowledgeable and professional, as well as personable. He explained everything thoroughly and got back to me in a very reasonable period of time. I appreciated that Mark took his time to explain everything and answer all of my questions. I can't say the same about the other companies I called. Neither gave me a written estimate, but just shot a figure off the top of their head. I got the sense that they were too busy to be bothered and didn't care whether they got my business or not. Exactly the opposite feeling I got from Mark. He let me know from the get go that he wanted to earn my business and would take all the time necessary to insure that I was comfortable with everything. Equally important was the price. Semper Solaris was significantly less than the other bids I received. Once the job began, I had more questions. Mark asked his Roofing Division Manager, Bobby Narcy, to stop by the site to address my concerns. I'll admit I'm a bit OCD and can be a pain in the a** to work with. Bobby, like Mark, was extremely professional and patient. He took his time and made sure I was clear on everything and that all of my concerns were taken care of. He acted as if I was the only customer they had, even though I knew they were very busy. After the job was completed, both Mark and Bobby followed up to insure everything was satisfactory. It was indeed. I would highly recommend Semper Solaris to anyone. As a matter of fact, I've recommended them to my work and they're in the process of getting a roof and solar bid. I am completely disappointed with Semper Solaris. I contacted them to get an estimate to replace me roof fan. At the sametime, discuss adding to my solar system and maybe batteries. We set a date and time. A couple of days later I get a text from them stating they don't really do roof fans. But, they still want to come out to talk about the rest. I couple of days later I text them and cancel the appointment, because my main objective is the roof fan. They acknowledge the text. A few days later they send me a text that someone in charge decided they could now do the roof fan. I had made plans and could no longer make the original appointment date. I advised once I get back I will contact them. The next week I text them. I took a few texts back and forth, but we set an appointment date and time. That's when the nightmare began. I started receiving texts, emails, voice mails reminding me of the appointment. So many it was to the point of harassment. The date and time comes. The appointment was at 2:30. No show, 2:35 no show, 2:40 no show. Finally 2:45 the guy arrives. I know 15 minutes seem ok, but not after all the reminders I received. 1st, the guy seem confused because I already have a solar system. I take him to my backyard to show him the 30+ year old roof fan. Then the guy says they don't do those fans. I told him of the message I received. He said he will need to have someone else come out. His tone changed when I asked about adding panels to my system. He started telling me I did not want to do that. If I add more than 10% SDG&E will make me change to the new rates. He showed me some preprinted rate schedule. So he persuaded me out of that. Then I ask about Batteries. He explained how they work. But, again he tells I do not want to add batteries. It costs $15k. I would get $5k in rebates. But, adding batteries SDG&E will change the rates. I may never make the $10k cost back. Ok, no batteries. The salesman then says he will now check with his office to see if the do roof fans. He will get back to me that day or the next. That was over a week ago. I have heard nothing from him or Semper Solaris. I in good conscience can not recommend this company. In fact, don't waste your time. read more

Our solar panels were completely installed in early March 2021. It is now August 2021 and the company has not fully resolved my questions/concerns about our solar production. It is very common for this company to provide hypothetical scenarios and vague explanations when you contact them. Nobody seems to take time to investigate or verify the issues. Semper Solaris (SS) installed my solar system in Dec 2019. However, I was not able to use the system for over 6 mo. SS pulled the wrong permit for my type of home so I had to wait an additional month. SS management stepped up and reimbursed me for the amount of power I had to pay while waiting for the permit to be approved. I did not have to ask for it. The installation was done in an efficient professional manner. I really can't think of anything negative to say. I recommend them 100%. read more

It's been smooth sailing with Semper Solaris from the beginning to the end. My only regret is that I didn't get solar sooner. Roland was a very pleasant sales consultant. He was the first solar sales person I met with, and he was wonderful, and it just went downhill with other solar companies from there. The price was the best as was their service. I asked my neighbors, one neighbor went with Semper and loved it, and two others went with Costco and had a mediocre experience. The Semper Solaris installation crew was great. Everybody knew what they were doing and worked as a team, and got the installation done in just over a half a day. The city inspector came out the next day and Semper met with and walked him through the system. It was all installed and approved within a couple of days which made me so happy. read more

Given the California fire hazards and potential electrical power losses, my wife and I decided that adding a battery to our existing solar system might be prudent. After substantial homework considering the options, and then severely testing the patience of Semper Solaris super sales representative, Paul Rampoldi, with endless questions, we signed a contract to purchase on 7-7-2020. Paul clearly explained, in writing and pictures, what the schedule would entail. Considering all the very unusual circumstances of Covid 19 virus, extreme state-wide temperatures and fire-fighting, plus support team family disruptions regarding school starts, etc., we expected substantial delays. Instead, our initial and very thorough site inspection, including roof and solar panel checks, was very professionally conducted by Alberto Quintero on 7-22-2020. Following all design processes and pre-approval, material acquisition and scheduling, actual installation was conducted on 8-21/24-2020 by Val Valdez and Eliseo Morales. Paul Rampoldi, the project sales representative, even went to the trouble to stop by to observe the installation action. The installation team could not have been more professional. Almost surgical in their approach, everything was clean, orderly, well-coordinated between the two and completed with precision. Not one dropped screw or piece of any scrap was left. Their work was immaculate and they kept me completely informed throughout. Post-installation and pre-inspection preparation was so well conducted by Aria Moeini that the successful city inspection was completed in minutes on 8-25-2020! Semper Solaris requested "permission to operate" from SDG&E and it was granted on 8-26-2020. It was a very smooth, orderly flow of events! The positive pattern continued on 9-09-20 when our UV unit was scheduled to be installed. Felipe Piche and Steven Steward called to confirm one hour prior to scheduled arrival time. They arrived exactly on time, described their plan, and completed the installation in less than an hour. Throughout, they were neat, clean, courteous, and exceptionally well-spoken in describing their work and operating procedures for the equipment. The worksite was left neat and clean! In my former profession as a management consultant and trainer, I worked very closely with every function and paygrade within hundreds of trade contractors in several states. I've never seen one more impressive than Semper Solaris has been in this endeavor! EVERY company representative has been on time, pleasant, courteous, well-spoken, very clear as to their intent and in their follow-up, and well-focused. EVERY person has pre-announced what I could expect, performed their function, then ensured that I saw and understood what had been achieved. Every step was prefaced by a call from the office confirming what and when each event was to occur, who would arrive and that they would call before arriving. There have been no surprises and every event has gone exactly as advertised. Chris, the battery guru in the office, has been super helpful in helping me with detailed battery questions. Update: our central air stopped working on a brutally hot East San Diego day. I could not get through to our home warranty company and other AC companies I called didn't even answer the phone. A friend suggested that we call semper Solaris. We had already had a wonderful experience with them installing our solar panels last month and getting them turned on just about a week ago. I did not even know that they did air conditioning repair. I called at about 2 PM, and asked if they could do me a favor as a customer and send someone to our home to find out what happened. We didn't want our two year old sleeping in an 80° room. Sure enough a great guy named Daniel showed up an hour later. He assessed the situation, made it clear that the investment company that renovated and flipped our house before we bought it had not spent some extra money to have necessary equipment installed. which in turn eventually caused the system to fail. He had it up and running in 45 minutes. We felt the price was very affordable. I could not stop thanking him for coming by on such short notice. I am really sorry that some reviews of semper seem to be complaining about terrible customer service and mistakes etc. but I will state once again that our experience with them has been five star from the start. read more

I had my solar installed 3 years ago. After these guys solved a major problem with several roof tiles they broke, I ended up having a roof leak within 3 feet of the solar panel install. It took some time, but they did end up taking responsiblity for a cracked tile they originally failed to replace which caused the leak. Ben Gutierrez, their field and tech service/warranty manager, had to handle the situation. After a period of back and forth, and to make a long story short, he had the repair authorized. While doing the repair, they dropped a nail puller from the roof that went through our patio canopy. He was up front with me and told me he would replace the canopy which he did. That was the easiest and smoothest part of this whole relationship that started 3 years ago! I was grateful that he was upfront with me. I understand it is difficult to keep 100% of the customers happy 100% of the time and I'm sure they strive to meet that goal. read more

We have had a very mixed experience with Semper. Some good, some less than favorable. Pros: - sales person was good, professional, communicative. When we had other issues we even called him and he answered and tried to help over a weekend. - the product seems quality and came in moderately priced- not the highest or lowest which is fine for quality. - installers seemed nice. They asked some good questions that I would not have through of. Cons: - the "manager" went out of his way to introduce himself to me on day one of install and give me his card if we needed anything. Then we did and I never received a call back until we called multiple times and finally my husband called. Then he replied... I might be sensitive but seemed dismissive to me which I dont care for. - one of the issues I called the manager about (and was never acknowledged) was that the roofing people left our side gates open and my dogs ran away. Amazingly I caught them, but this was such a careless act and could have had a very bad result had I not been looking out the window as my dogs ran down the street... - we specifically set this up to have it installed by calendar year end for the tax credit. The whole process of approval has led me to believe that there was NO WAY THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DONE in the time frame they promised. I would have preferred the truth. - we have had an issue with the app now (that shows the amount being produced). We reached out to no real response in 5 days. To say I'm extremely disappointed with Semper Solaris is an understatement. The beginning of the process started well. They were prompt, gave me a competitive price, and were very professional. The system got installed no problem and they were quick to answer any questions and ensure the financing would go through without a hitch. Then the inspection came to finalize our install and that's when the problems began. We had an issue with SDG&E approving the inspection because of some permitting issue with the upgrades to our panel the previous owners installed. Now I understand that SDG&E will beat to their own drum and aren't very efficient, but I expected way more from Semper Solaris. They preach veteran owned and community. I am a USMC vet and a first responder so I was initially thrilled to know the company was veteran owned and had the understanding they would take care of me and my family. When it came to getting the money funded for the install, they called twice a day and emailed me once a day to ensure the loan was signed and ready to fund. Funny, because when it came to the money they were on it like white on rice. But the minute the install was funded and there was an issue, they went MIA. I got no progress update via email or phone call for weeks. A representative from Semper Solaris told me the day of the inspection (when I found out we didn't pass) we would be hearing from them ASAP. That never happened. I didn't want to be a nuisance and they were so prompt with everything else, I allowed days ...if not weeks... to pass for them to contact me about the progress. I heard NOTHING. When I finally did call their customer care, I got ping ponged around like a ragdoll with no one able to give me an answer on what was going on. They finally tell me to reach out to my sales rep, so I do. He tells me the same song and dance and still I had to be the person to initiate any response for progress updates with our inspection. Now it's been over 2 months since the system was first installed... and now I'm making payments on a system I can't even turn on. The most frustrating thing for me during this entire process has been the LACK OF COMMUNICATION. I would assume that when things are not going as planned a company like this would go above and beyond to ensure their customers are taken care of and they would make us a priority to ensure things get figured out. I say this because had the inspection gone as planned they would have been in and out and moving on to the next guy. If they preach that they care about their customers and the veterans in their community, well I haven't seen it and it's been the most frustrating thing to deal with. So long story short, if you go with Semper Solaris..hope you don't run into any issues. Because if you do, they will pretty much discard you and place you at the bottom of the totem pole. And looking back at it, if you already got the money...what's the rush right? My recommendation: go with someone else. Just to reiterate, I understand delays can occur and SDG&E will only work as fast as they want too.... my issue has not been the delay itself but the lack communication from Semper Solaris. All it would have taken is a simple phone call or email to check in and let me know where the process is and what we were waiting on. None of that occurred, I had to be the one constantly contacting a rep to figure out the status. To me that's unsatisfactory, if me the customer is left in the dark.. how is that showing me that you as a company care. And the response to my review confirms my displeasure. I got more information on a comment (and conflicting information from what I was previously told 8 weeks ago) cuz of a review on yelp than a project manager or customer service representative calling me personally checking in with me to let me know what was discovered. please read! beware! stop do not use this company!!! we contracted with semper solaris for roofing and solar in march 2022, "bill" william mears showed up late and was a great used car salesman. they are not honest in the breakdown of the actual cost vs kilowatt needs. i contracted with this company because i read the great reviews on "their website". please if i can help one person avoid what happened to me, i will feel so much better. i have reported them to the bbb and will be starting legal proceedings. this company showed up on april 7, 2022 to begin work. the supposed roofer guys, came to my house... 2 spanish only speaking guys and 2 young boys about 14 years old (btw im mexican and understand spanish, too bad they didn't realize it as they called me a puta) they removed the tile and left the wood exposed while the "family" had a "family emergency" then didn't return for about 6 days. i spoke with "miguel" the project manager who didn't have an answer but promised to have the problem fixed. the roof guy returned and told me off in spanish when i asked why he was covering over rotted wood that we paid to have replaced. i will attach all photos. it gets worse! since inception the company has refused to address the new roof over the rotted wood, they then put the solar panel over the roof and it does not work! the electrical panel that bill mears knew was not permitted stated don't worry we will take care of it once we come out for the inspection and design, but later lied and said he never said that. the company invoiced mosaic financing for the full 75,000 dollars that they charged. we do not have a unit that works. we owe mosaic financing $500 dollar payments and still have to pay edison for electricity!!! for reference my son just got a solar system for 9,000 and roofs are about 14,000. i have called and emailed this company no less than 50 times since april of which i have names numbers and emails and call logs. they have refused to resolve the problem. they sent out a tech to try to get the panel to pass inspection but it was not cleared by the city. since then javell brown from "corporate" has not returned phone calls, emails or sent any response to give me an alternate contact . btw all numbers lead to 'customer service reps' working from home with babies crying, dogs barking and beeps from their text messages and smoke alarms going off in the back ground. please use any other company than this one. i was going to use the one that is backed by costco, i wish i would have, at least they are vetted by a large company. they make a big deal about being veteran owed. this company took advantage of my deaf veteran husband.hows that for irony. i will attach photos. they have offered no resolution. but they took money on a job that was not complete. that is fraud, dishonesty. if this was a company with any integrity they would have resolved this by now. its been 5 months!!!! we have to pay the finance company or wreck our credit. we have to pay the electric company or we have no electricity. my husband is not working because he is facing cochlear implant surgery in november. semper solaris you should be ashamed of taking advantage of a deaf veteran!! i read more

I just got the ok to turn on the system. Hopefully it's all good. I'm happy with most of the work except the roofing. I had the roof reshingle before they installed the solar penals. During the roof work there was a lot of lumber in the garage and around the house that was cracked. What I did not like is that the person in charge did not bring that extra damage to my attention. I had to bring it up to him twice. They corrected most of the broken lumber but still left some broken. I would not recommend the roofing. I was also never told that there may be damage to the lumber on the roof. I had to pay extra for the wood that was damaged by them. read more

Semper Solaris set up my solar system in 2017 & they installed my Tesla Powerwall system yesterday. In each case they did a fantastic job. The company has a great team of professional workers that care about their customers and the finished product demonstrates this dedication.
