Saw an ad for adding panels on Instragram and clicked through. Big mistake - within the first 24 hours, 5 calls from 3 numbers, 3 text messages, calls starting before 8AM and going as late as 10:30PM. Just avoid - aggressive sales is the biggest way to piss people off. read more

More than two weeks with an active leak, and all we got is a form email saying to make sure we protect our flooring and our furniture while they find time to come and fix it... in the meantime there have been three rainstorms and the water keeps collecting under the roof membrane next to our wood ceiling... what a nightmare! read more

I was duped by Semper Solaris and am trying to make sure everyone is aware of their lies so that you go into any project with them eyes wide open. You will be left holding the bag at the end of the day with additional hours you need to pore into the terrible project management and the cost they tell you. I had 3 powerwalls installed because they promised an incredible net investment *with certainty* only to have a terrible project, blame shifted all over the place (to PG&E, the City of San Jose, to third party contractors they used) and left having to incur $10K (50% of the entire Net Investment they gave with certainty). After a harrowing year and a half of terrible project management, and trying to recoup my $10K loss that was incurred due to this company's lies - was slapped with a Mechanics Lien with a 10% annum interest without warning or mediation as I requested. Do yourself a favor and find yourself an honest company that knows how to do this work and will treat the customer right. They pass out Mechanics Liens like candy if you read through the reviews here (and the unrecommended ones hidden at the bottom that have a lot of one stars). read more

Installation - 5 stars Initial contacts - 5 stars Customer service follow up - 1 star The whole process of meeting the sales to final completion of the installation took 5 months with the determination of follow ups with the last piece of the project was quit painful. The initial contact with the sale representative was very thorough and he was very knowledgeable about the system and setting up the installation was a breeze. The installers were excellent and very diligent. However, I had a project change order and though it was smooth as well. Everything from the installation to the final permit approval and the approval from PG&E was easy. The last component of the change order was an ordeal. The administration staff or their customer service representatives were too keyed in on the service calls and the value of theirs calls that deflated the purpose of the call for the follow up of the change order and having the change order project complete was unbelievable. Calls after calls and emails after emails gone no where. It was frustrating and sounded a like broken record with each email and call. Until my last draw of sending an unpleasant email. It should not have been like that. Overall, I am now pleased with the solar system and contribute to a better environment. read more

Service has drastically changed since my 2019 review. Our system is running fine, but we changed our wi-fi password and lost the online monitor showing it's status. Multiple calls to San Diego office not returned, hold times up to 2 hrs, if you reach an agent they "open a case" rather than find someone with an answer. Received one callback - rep described the process involving powering off the system to reboot - which prompts for a new password - a 5 min process. He would ask a Bay Area rep to schedule a drop by to show how it's done. Never happened. 4 weeks later with 5 cases open on the same issue, I received a quote to sign - $499.99 for 2 hrs labor & parts. I replied that we need only a reboot to reset the password. A week later received a revised quote for $299.99. This is not the Semper Solaris we once knew. I have family who purchased systems based on our recommendation. I'm embarrassed now. And frankly terrified of a major issue with our system. read more

tl,dr; Smells like a bad business. Wouldn't do business here even if they begged me. I met with semper solaris many years ago and decided not to move forward because of timing. I got thousands of annoying emails from them about how they're amazing and I should use them. Today I call them and ask to move forward. We schedule an appointment. Then I get a super long text saying that they don't work with HOAs. I indicated that I only wanted a battery, and that I have all the permits and approvals lined up already, and that it's not going to be a problem. I get strong push back that "management" decided that they are "unable to move forward" with the appointment. Veterans helping veterans huh? Doesn't sound like it. read more

We chose Semper Solaris to install panels on our rental house in Berkeley. They gave a good fact filled presentation with no nonsense. Good price and timely installation. The city inspector actually complimented the waterproof attachment to the roof. They did great. read more

Had Semper Solaris install a power wall for me on an existing solar system because my first choice, Dura-Foam was booked through the year. The price was high but the sales person "included" PGE rebates that made it more competitive. After install I was informed the "rebates" were closed for the year. The following year they told me to re-apply and PGE made me jump through insane hopes, including changing my rate plan. That change cost me $1600 in increased rates over 2 months (all for a $2k rebate). Final straw was I was told I needed to switch from NEM 2 to NEM 3, complete deal breaker. I expressed concern that the sales person had pushed the rebate in the estimate as if it were a sure thing. They suddenly disappeared and I never heard from them again. So not only no $2k rebate but I paid $1600 in extra elec bill before I could change it back. So lesson here, Buyer Beware of their sales people and, PG&E is the worst. read more

My simple project lasted over a year, they damaged my house and did not make things right. The owner refuses to engage with customers. Terrible experience - Installers drilled through the roof, did not have the parts to complete the job and left before the heavy rains back in march. We were left with leaks and holes in my ceiling to repair at my expense. Since then, system is installed but clipping and producing below the quoted energy production. I wish anyone in that company would respond to emails but beside calling me to remind me that I will be charged as soon as the inspection complete, there is no interest in solving my problem. I was happy with it until I recently changed my internet provider and it caused my panels to no longer communicate with their app (Enphase). After several agonizing months of going thru their customer service and IT department on the phone, their next step is to send a tech to re-establish communications. Their price...$500!! Do not use this company under any circumstance. I have never had contractors be this irresponsible, or slow to respond to questions, all while touting "Premium Products", and never making deadlines. I started working with Semper Solaris for Roof, Solar, and AC/Heating project in August, and it has bee nothing but a nightmare. First, we had our roof done while we were out of town. When we came back there was a massive hole in our master bedroom that no-one informed us about. Someone must have fell through, as it was a huge hole. So we had to call them and it took them 2 days just to get someone to put a tarp, then another 3+ weeks to get them to actually come out and fix it. Ridiculous that this was not even communicated to us and was a surprise when we came home. Additionally, they charged us an extra 600 dollars to remove the old Solar-Hot Water panels and dispose of them, but I had to contact support several times just to get them to come out. Every time someone came out they would say "That is the other X teams job to remove those". Same stuff happened with the Solar Panel patching of our stucco, and the AC units they left our paint really messed up, and even destroyed part of our crown molding near where they replaced a vent. Next, we had the AC/Heater done. The people working left every window/door open all day during the summer and we ended up with an infestation of mosquitoes in our house. We had to set up several bug bombs and airing out our house. Then for Solar, they started the install over 3 weeks late, and is still not complete. Our last step was getting an inspection done and we never heard anything after that for over 3 weeks, we assumed we were on track to getting it setup with the Solar Company, but then I go to their automated system and it told me our inspection failed! The inspection was weeks ago, and no-one even mentioned to us that it failed, and we have heard NOTHING on next steps to get whatever issues (That we have not been told about yet) resolved. I have reached out twice to their support saying "They will get us an update and a case has been created" with no update. To have an inspection fail and not make us aware at all is unheard of. I have never worked with a company with this bad communication. Please avoid them at all costs, they will charge you a premium price for a terrible experience. I went with Semper Solaris because they would do all of these jobs together and promised a premium experience. I could of gotten this done quicker, and cheaper if I just did the jobs separate and the communication would of been better. read more

Installation errors for battery add on project led to city inspection failure twice. Incorrect form filled for PGE to obtain PTO led to incorrect assignment of NEM3 plan vs NEM2 that I had painfully ensure by submitting the add on project application on time before April 2023. Their team has been unresponsive to multiple outreaches over email and phone confirming lack of competence. Of the 4 installers I worked with on solar panel and battery installation projects, Semper is in the bottom two. Do not recommend this provider. read more

Tim A., professional and personable, is the epitome of what an on-site lead should be. From day one of our roofing project, Tim was in close communication with us. I was hoping this would be the final update... but it's not. We finally passed the inspection! System is functional. Now all I need is the last 4 panels they promised me. Semper Solaris set a date to come and install them, they didn't show up. Set another date, showed up, didn't finish the job, again drilled extra holes that were not patched up correctly and this time left a mess of silicone on my garage entrance floor. This was on Friday 1/29/21. They told me they would come back on Monday to finish, didn't show up. I emailed, texted and called Semper Solaris, no response. Their crew expertise is all over the place. I've met some excellent installers and some completely inexperienced ones. Semper Solaris was a terrible choice! Choosing to install Semper Solaris was based on having previous experience with the sales rep when I bought my first set of solar panels from a different company. This was not wise! The install of extra panels and 3 battery systems was sub par, rushed and done without ANY care. Every part of the installation from removing the roof panels and concrete, to adding wiring and equipment, to patching walls and paint was done with VERY poor skill. Not to mention, the installers sauntered off permanent pieces to our garage shelving units causing them to be unstable and unsafe, and when our home was repainted in the area that they had to remove, the color didn't match AT ALL (pic below). Someone came out to "fix" it and it still is a far match. My husband and I agreed that he will just fix it. The worst aspect of choosing Semper is now that it's installed (and everyone's received their cut of the pay) I cannot reach anyone for customer service help. I've called and emailed at least a dozen times with nothing more than an automated email response and a message center representative that says they can only take messages because Semper customer service reps (during their working ours) cannot answer the phone. While I know other companies are more expensive, remember, you get what you pay for. Trust me, it's worth the extra expense. I should also mention that my system was installed in mid-May and it's still not connected with SCE. Of course, Semper has blamed it on SCE. Please be wise...do your homework!!! Don't take my word for it, try to reach customer service (as a current customer, not as a potential customer) and you'll see what I'm referring to. read more

After comparing bids and evaluations from 4 roofers, I chose Semper Solaris to replace the roof on my house in Palo Alto. Timothy was the onsite lead for this project. The whole experience went much better than I expected. work started on Monday and was completed mid Friday, final Palo Alto City inspection was this morning, Monday. Timothy reviewed the job details with me before starting Any work. No work needed to be corrected from any of the city inspections. Timophy was great in communication and answering questions. Crew did a complete clean-up each day, including nail pickup. As we have dogs that enjoy the backyard this was appreciated. The dump truck did stay in the driveway, as expected. There was a 6 foot section of the roof with dry-rot which was fixed at no additional charge. What I paid was what was originally quoted. I am recommending Semper Solaris to several friends planning to re-roof their houses this year. read more

Semper Solaris has the WORST customer service imaginable. My HVAC system shorted out 10 days ago. I called a repairman and he showed me that the Semper Solaris installers incorrectly rewired the line from the HVAC back to the breaker box with writing that is way undersized AND they used a 20-apm circuit breaker when a 40-amp was required. I then called Semper Solaris and after an hour on the phone with customer service, they confirmed the error and said they would send out a repairman. The repairman (Alan) was very knowledgeable and competent. He confirmed that Semper Solaris used the wrong gauge wire and wrong breaker and a crew would have to come out to run new wire. He also pointed out a splice Semper Solaris did incorrectly that melted inside the box and could have caused a fire. That was 2 days ago and nobody has showed up to do the repair. When I call Semper Solaris customer service yesterday, they told me a response will take 3-5 business days! That's just to respond, not to send the crew. Finally I reached someone today who said they would put a "rush" on the next callback. But no chance that the crew will be here until next week. So with hot weather on the way, I have had no AC for 10 days and counting. Use a different company when you decide to install solar! read more

I have been dealing with Semper solaris regarding roof leak from solar panels they installed. They are great for new work. But it took 5 months for last years roof leak to get someone out to fix it. Now same spot is leaking. Great customer service representatives when you speak to them. But getting the job done is another matter. I got out side bids to fix the roof with in a week of calling . I am leaving another review because Semper Solaris just sent another email asking me to. My previous opinion of this company remains unchanged: You should DEFINITELY avoid doing business with this company. They botched the installation of my Enphase solar/battery system, which failed an inspection by the City of Richmond the first time around. It took MORE THAN 6 MONTHS to make the system operational because they REPEATEDLY dropped the ball on getting our Permission to Operate documents sent to PG&E. They also REPEATEDLY sent documents to PG&E for our solar system using the identifying information, address, and phone number of ANOTHER one of their customers and sent them to a non-functional email address. These mistakes continued despite numerous attempts on my part to help them correct their errors. That episode of incompetence cost me about $1500 of PG&E overcharges that I CANNOT recoup. In a separate and unrelated episode of incompetence, their roofers defaced the front wall of my newly remodeled home by applying their roofing material a full 8 inches up the facade, on the side of the house that faces the curb. When I complained about this, my salesman, Rob Leverton, threatened me with the company lawyers. I hired these jokers because they claim to employ veterans of the US Armed Services. They sent about a dozen men to my property for the job, and only two of them could speak English, so the "veterans" claim seems to be bogus as well. You should avoid Semper Solaris. read more

Semper Solaris is a fraud. When I had a problem due to their faulty installation, they didn't return about a dozen calls. They failed to install a ground wire which resulted in a $1200 repair bill. They also installed the Charging cable upside down. They never returned calls from the Marin District Attorney, ignoring him like they ignored me. Honestly I can copy and paste all the bad reviews here, but want to specify how horrible their communication was AFTER we signed the contracts and they got our first down payment. The person of contact and a sales person is Eric Gould, at first was very nice and promised to take a good care of us and give us constant updates - he literally disappeared and stopped answering our calls and emails, with later replies that he was out of town (still not giving us any updates). The process with initial inspection started back in February 2023, and today is almost October and at this point our system is still not running. I want to point out a horrible job of installation itself as well. The work they have done is beyond terrible, they made so many unnecessary holes in my garage and I'm not even talking about the aesthetic look of it, it's also pretty bad job. This is an expensive purchase that I sincerely regret at this point, specifically dealing with this company. I wish we went with anther company but we are stuck with them since they took all the payments. This company has a customer service problem and the left hand of the company does not know what the right hand is doing. The sales person seemed nice and we verbally discussed what I wanted in the system, specifically to monitor/track the generation of electricity and the amount used. They hire subcontractors to install the solar system. The install appointment date came and no one showed up. I called the project manger and she said she did not see the appointment and no one would be showing up that day and she would have to find installers and set up a date for another time. On the second appointment date the install seemed to go fine. The city inspection did not pass the first time there was a piece of equipment which was a different ampage than what was in the design submitted to the city, but they put in a lower ampage equipment piece, and it passed the second inspection. The Enphase solar system sent monthly emails to show generation vs consumption. I have had repair techs out a few times and when I follow up with them, there are no notes or no answer, or the person has quit, and the company has to try to do research to try and answer my questions. My main problem now is that a technician went out and made changes to the system in November. He did not tell me exactly why he wanted to look at my system except that he thought things had been installed wrong and they were having problems communicating with the system. We talked a second time and the tech said that there was not enough room where the system was installed and it was done wrong and he would have to talk to the company to figure out how to fix it and be authorized more time to work on it. He never got back to me after that even though I contacted him and left a message. I found out the technician no longer works for Semper Solaris. Also- since that tech worked on the system I can no longer track the consumption and generation of power as it is not showing up on the Enphase email report anymore. I have been trying to resolve this since November and now it is the beginning of February. I have talked to several customer service people. The last one seems to be trying to resolve it but it is taking a long time. She has photos from the install showing the piece of equipment for monitoring/tracking consumption was installed. Now it seems it may have been removed and they are telling me it costs extra money to have that installed (??- It was installed and I want it to work- I think the last tech removed it because he did not know how to fix the problem or was not authorized extra time to work on it and fix it). I find this company frustrating to work with. Dealing with different people every time I call and not all of them making notes in the call log so they have no idea what to say to me is frustrating. Or they say they will get back to me and do not. The company needs to fix how things are worked on, tracked and keep a really good log for each client. Perhaps they should have their own employees install the systems and not use subcontractors. AS I said, the last customer service person, she seems like she is trying to help, and she has talked to me three times on the phone and sent an email with an update that she was still looking into it. She seems to be helping me (unlike others) so I hope she can fix it. Hence why I gave 1 star instead of 0. My neighbor told me to write this review to see if that would push the company to work on it quicker. I want the problem resolved quickly and to get my Enphase reports to again show me how much power my system makes and how much power is used in the house. Update--now they say they never offered monitoring of consumption even though they installed the mechanical device that does that! They said I would have to contact Enphase to pay them to get it working to accurately monitor consumption of the electricity that is generated. Not happy!!! read more

There is too much to write here, but suffice it to say that Semper did not deliver on ANY of their promises, they had poor communication and never reached out to us without us prompting the communication. Our job was completed on 2/23, and the inspections all done with a week or so. Then Semper submitted TWO applications so SCE didn't know what to do with it and then a month later, Semper sends a new application. Semper kept telling us they couldn't get any information from SCE, but we were able to get information from them about the fiasco in the submissions (something Semper NEVER disclosed to us, even though we were asking for updates regularly). SCE stated we would probably be turned on by the first of May but then SCE had to reach back out to Semper for justification as to why my 1650 sq ft house required 42 panels (we have a large tree). So Semper sends an "Equipment change request" to SCE on 4/29/23 and the clock starts over now with the power company. Why Semper didn't realize they would need substantiation is beyond me. It's not the first time they've had to do something like this, I'm sure. And it makes me definitely question if they lied to us about how many panels we needed to purchase. They sloppily submitted our PTO to SCE and it has now cost us an extra TWO MONTHS, and it will be at least another 45-60 days based on what SCE told me today when I called. Do you think Semper at ANY time in all of this has ever tried to stay on top of it or provide updates? Nope. They have gone totally silent because they are sick of hearing from us, I'm sure. They do not follow through on anything. The actual workmanship is great, but the service from the company itself is the worst of any I've experienced or heard about. The fact they use the military as a "pull" for customers who are supportive (as are we) of the military is disgusting to me. We were told over and over that they run their company like a military unit - precise, on top of everything, accountability for everything they do, communication top priority. Unfortunately they do not hold to any of those traits. We are now approaching the hottest time of the year in central CA, where our SCE bills run $800-$1000 for three to four months. We contracted with them 8 months ago so that we would be completed far in advance of the summer season. Now we are paying on a $92,000 loan for something that doesn't even work yet. So we are paying $313 a month along with a full SCE electric bill until the system is turned on. We will be expecting Semper to reimburse us for all charges we have had to pay in excess of the $313 loan payment until our system is functional. Do we think they will do the right thing? No, unfortunately we do not. If you value getting things done right, you should definitely look for a different company. read more

They didn't finally do the install until JANUARY 2020 so I lost the tax credit. And, they missed the first THREE appointments to install the panels. The city inspector then showed up and, guess what, there was nothing to inspect! Finally, they make it to the FOURTH appointment and, guess what, they put several HOLES from the roof straight into our LIVING ROOM! Are you kidding me? What a nightmare working with Semper Solaris has been. They just don't care about the customer at all. And after they got paid, getting them to do anything was basically impossible. After getting everything set up with the city and all the permits, it was time for the installation. The workers showed up a day early, which was not convenient and I had to cancel plans to stick around while they worked. The second day the dispatcher informed me they would have to shut off the power before noon, they assured me the workers would be able to do this as soon as they arrived, which was important because there are several people working in the house. However, the workers who came out to install it just didn't care. I asked them if they could turn off the power several times and they kept saying they would and then they finally did without any notice early afternoon. I have a duplex and asked repeatedly to make sure they set up the solar going to the upstairs unit. I told every person about this at every stage, including double checking with the installers. Of course they installed it on the wrong unit and I had to redo a ton of the paperwork with PG&E and have someone come out and fix that. Once the units were installed, Semper incorrectly filed the paperwork for the units, putting everything under the bottom unit's name, instead of mine, so they had to re-file paperwork, which took a month of constant calls and emails from myself to get addressed. Finally I thought it was over then I got my first zero bill. Except the bill had a big credit. I checked with the downstairs unit and they had received their usual bill. Semper Solaris hadn't filed the paperwork correctly to cover the bottom unit. Instead of listening to what I was saying, the Semper folk kept telling me the "unit was producing" and that they could send a tech out and I would be charged. I had to call PG&E and get them on the phone with Semper, where the PG&E person explained to Semper that they had filed the paperwork wrong (again). Every time I have had a call with the call center and the person said they would call back, you better believe I never heard back and had make a follow-up call myself. Update: Thanks to a gentleman named Cheyenne I have been able to get the paperwork with PG&E finalized. While I have been assured everything has been done correctly this time, it will "take up to 2 billing cycles to show up" so we shall see. If I'd had Cheyenne initially, this review might have gone a different way, because he was fantastic and genuinely seemed to care, but sadly he was probably the 8th person I interacted with. read more

Semper Solaris installed Solar Panels on my roof and since installment the Lifetime roof has been leaking called several times to Semper Solaris and they send technicians who are ill equipped and do not bring enough materials to fix the issue. They have been out 4 times and every time their excuses are (either they do not have enough material or the person needs additional help. Every time I have to take days off from work so I could accommodate them. Upon calling the company the owners do not respond and the employees do not answer phones and even if they answer the phone call, they start making excuses. I have spoken to Rachel, Alexandra, Kristin and many others to no fix in site. Due to their negligence, I will now have to replace my entire roof which is a cost of over $25,000. I will be also taking legal actions to recover my cost of replacing my roof and legal fees along with other damages . I am also going to contact local news channels to come and see the work Semper Solaris has done and air their findings so no other persons are duped by this company and its owners John Almond and Kelly Shawhan. I believe that they are in a business of giving bad name and reputation to our service men & women in armed forces by using their reputation as veteran owned. My advise to future customers of this company not to do any business as some of the reviews posted are either paid or by their employees so please beware of this company. read more
