This was my second visit here. First formal dinner. We came in on a Saturday night with a large party 11. *We made a reservation*. They have one large high top table that accompanies large groups. Otherwise a small dining area in back (emphasis on small and tight), but cozy. The food comes out all at different times, smaller dishes meant to be passed and shared. A friend we went with had said the menu changed a little from the last time they came but overall the same. What we ordered and tried was all phenomenal. Can't go wrong with the Brussels sprouts and Braided short rib. The veal meatballs were mouthwatering and bread with Gorgonzola. Chefs kiss every bit. Ugh the dessert display, and variety can't be beat. I can't wait to go back and try them all!!! The atmosphere is dark and stormy, dim lights, with a gentle flicker of battery operated candle light. The bar area was packed it takes up the whole front end. A convenient location in Patchogue to walk around and a large public parking area in back, be careful of the permit only spots. Really great dinner tonight at Barrique Kitchen and Wine Bar. A darkly lit space, good for date night or planning an outing with friends. The staff was busy receiving orders, yet they were still able to maintain a friendly yet assertive vibe. Our waitress was on top of things, she always checked in to make sure we were good. The food was delicious. The Beet and Squash Salad was fresh and filling. They didn't hold back on any of the ingredients, and Lobster Linguine was delightful, especially with the sauce. We also ordered the Shrimp Oreganato Pizza, and I was pleasantly surprised by the texture of the thin crust and how flavorful everything was. I've done take-out once before, but this was my first time dining inside. My husband and I enjoyed our impromptu experience and we'd be happy to return. Service was a hot mess, the hostess at the front kicked off her boots while helping us and took off LOL the manager I assume came over after 10 minutes of standing around and a line forming out the door, sat everyone. We tried barrique to celebrate a friends birthday. They only take reservations if it's more than 8 people. It is first come, first served. We went for an early dinner because we didn't want to wait for something later on. The Main Street is always packed and finding parking can be overwhelming, which is why I parked on the backside of the building. 2 hour free parking on unnumbered parking spots. The Alley way is super cute and I could see myself sitting outside during one of those summer nights. Inside is pretty limited with seats, even the bar area. Hostess will seat you once all parties have arrived. This is a tapas bar serving small plates and wine. Their cocktails menu seemed very limited, but the waitress mentioned that they have a full bar. We went with one of the holiday espresso martinis, but they didn't have a certain ingredient so we went with an original. My other friend ordered a sangria, but she didn't finish it because it wasn't that good. We tried the rigatoni ala vodka, we asked for breaded chicken, but unfortunately they were only able to make grilled chicken that night. So we decided not to add chicken. My friend tried the Braised Short Rib Grilled Cheese, it was quite big, so she took some home. For dessert they have these cute jars filled with mousse and whichever filling you may like. I went with the Oreo one, unfortunately I couldn't finish it because I ended up with an allergic reaction, not sure which fruit they added in the jar of Oreos, most likely a cherry but not sure if it was a grape. Just not sure why they would hide a fruit in a dessert like this, why not have it displayed. The staff were very accommodating and attentive. Came here on a Friday night for a date night dinner for two, wait was only about 30 minutes. The place is just a little tucked away, but it has plenty of character once you step through the main door on the side of the building. The place offers both indoor and outdoor seating, we wound up with outdoor. Loved the look of all the brick and hardwood around, and the lights kept relatively dim. Sound level was good, had no problem having conversation at all. Wait and bar staff were attentive and very friendly, even on a night that seemed to be on the busier side. Starting with drinks, we had the red sangria and I also tried the butterfly martini, a gin based special of the week. Both were delightful, the sangria a little lighter than I personally prefer, but was just the way my date likes it. The martini however, was delightful, I pray that they make it a staple on their cocktail list! But maybe that's just because I'm a sucker for anything with pomegranate. Food was delicious! Most things are tapas style, making it a great way to try a few things and split with friends. We started with the gorgonzola dip and truffle fries. Don't be foolish like us and almost give away your leftover dip if you run out of bread, they gave us more to finish it off! It's basically the best fondue I've ever had, and I'm usually not one for funkier cheeses. Truffle is hit or miss with most people, and these go pretty hard on the truffle, so if you're on the fence about it, these might be a little more pungent than you'd like, although they are crispy and delicious. On to the main even we split the roast chicken and lamb chops. Both came with delectable sauces, the best green beans I may have ever tried (and I am typically a green bean hater), and perfectly fluffy mashed potatoes. The chicken was my favorite of the two, perfectly cooked, nice crispy skin, you couldn't do it much better. The tapas style also really lends to not feeling so grossly stuffed either, portions just feel more in control. We capped off the night with one of their dessert shooters, they have a ton of options but we went for the Nutella option, and splitting the little jar between the two of us was just the little bit of a sweet taste we wanted to end the night on. The rest of the menu had so many good items all across the board, with a ton of people around us especially ordering pizzas, I'm definitely eager to come back and try more. Parking can be a bit hectic, there is street parking and a parking lot in the rear, but read your signs carefully, as there are a lot of tow away zones and some places where it's metered and some where it isn't. read more

This place gives you a cozy warm feeling and ambiance like you're in a private wine cellar in California. They have a huge selection of wines and flights if you want a tasting. I loved their small plate concept too didn't feel over stuffed and got to try a couple of different plates when shared with my friend. The bartenders are very personable which we loved too! We ordered a bottle of wine but they didn't have it, so had to pick a different option. We started with the arancini and the poached pear salad. Both of these were top notch; especially the arancini that was stuffed with short rib and it had a little kick. Then we split the meatballs and the gnocchi both of which were recommended by the manager and I have to say these were very underwhelming. The gnocchi was chewy and not flavorful and the meatballs were just okay. However, I think if you know the right things to order this place is a good spot. Barrique is definitely one of the best restaurants in Babylon and arguably on Long Island. The outdoor seating is decorated beautifully and feels like a quiant European alleyway. They also have personal heaters they can turn on for you if it gets too cold outside. The food was phenomenal. From the meat and cheese boards, to the pesto gnocchi, to the short rib, my boyfriend and I were very impressed. The drinks were mostly great. My boyfriend and I loved the Gold Rush and the Butterfly Martini, however whatever Mezcal was in the Tropical Depression was a little too much for me. Thankfully when asked if I can switch it back to Butterfly Martini our waitress was super sweet about it and let me change it back with no issue. Finally the food did take a little too arrive but I guess you cannot rush perfection. I would just suggest not coming here if you are in a rush. I've been wanting to come here mainly because of the outside seating. Legit looks like a place in NYC and decorated so nicely with the tables lining the alley and twinkling lights. Finally stopped in for drinks and a quick dinner a few weeks ago. I recommend a reservation, seems super busy. We sat at the bar and was greeted so nicely by the bartender (Riley maybe?) and she made us two fantastic cosmos. The food was delicious, had steak and crab cakes, can't wait to go back! Let's start with the service. Service is definitely on the slower end, in which it took approximately half an hour between the first and second dish to come out (we sat at 6:20pm, first dish came out at 7, second came out at 7:32, and third came out at 7:36). Our server, Michael, was incredibly friendly but definitely overworked, where he was running around inside and out; I truly believe that if they had a bit more servers, the experience would definitely be more pleasant and perhaps speedier (for example, it took us 5 minutes to get napkins and another 15 for the sriracha aioli we asked for, which led to our fries being cold by the time we got the sauce :/) The aesthetics and ambiance of the restaurant is definitely very warm and welcoming, with a mixture of wooded furnitures and design. Very pretty and comfortable, without feeling overly high end. The pricing of their food is also incredibly reasonable, with barely any dish costing more than 25 bucks. The crab cake was delicious and relatively big in portion size, so highly recommended! The steak was very tender but the flavor was on the blander side; it also came out with only a few small strands of onions unfortunately, which would have added more flavor if it came with more. I definitely do not recommend the steak, for I'm sure other options may be more delicious and plentiful. The special fish with risotto was so extremely salty, in which the tomato broth risotto couldn't even mellow out the saltiness of the fish. Highly, HIGHLY, recommend staying away from the fish... Lastly, they also added a dish on our receipt which we never ordered, so please remember to check your receipt! Overall, it was unfortunately a very disappointing experience, especially given its amazing potential. 2 out of 3 of what we ordered was either not good or nothing special. Love Barrique! Amazing brunch + amazing service. Came here with a few girlfriends and dined outside in the alleyway. Not too crowded, and on a day when it was t too hot. The pizza was perfection in taste and size, with enough to wrap up for my son who was disappointed this was a girls only occasion. We all got a drink - I opted for the sangria, which I highly recommend. We shared the truffle fries, and as someone who isn't wild about truffle oil I also really liked these too. The only thing that disappointed was the little cannoli dessert. I was told by our waitress that this was less sweet than the other dessert I was eyeing and I don't like overly sweet but this had like, no sweetness whatsoever. I'm a girl who knows her cannolis and this just didn't hit the mark for me. Next time - I'll opt for the berry cake dessert. A great spot in Babylon and dining outside is so nice, as the interior is a different vibe (think romantic, dim light, more intimate) which is more geared towards "date night" in my opinion. Dined here last night and definitely would not return. The ambiance is good with lots of outdoor seating and a intimate interior darkly lit with a bustling crowd. Lots of loud women drinking wine. The salads, beet salad and watermelon salad were pretty good with fresh ingredients. That's where the quality ended. Tuna app was little fishy and had a chewy texture. My watermelon martini was delicious and paired perfectly with my watermelon and prosciutto salad. While my dad had the bang bang shrimp (outstanding) I had the short rib they were so good and tender. Simply put, Barrique is a small place in Babylon Village and it is mildly trendy. Usually that would be 2 strikes with me BUT this place pulls it off without being pretentious. The food is top notch and the menu is pretty varied so you should have no problem finding a new favorite. Bring a self proclaimed "pizza snob" l, I suggest the Barrique Pizza...it's cheese, meatballs, and a healthy serving of yummy! Polenta fries, fresh burrata, gnocchi, goat cheese ravioli (personal favorite)...a trusty varied menu. Top it off with their red Sangria, a fruity, mildly effervescent drink that's ridiculously refreshing! Try the house Cabernet Sauvignon. It's very smooth and goes with everything on the menu. For food, I love the lamb and the pizzas. They breadcrumb the pizza to give it a perfect crunch. Not quite Brooklyn-chique, like you might find at Tullulahs a few towns over. We tried a lot of their small plates: the gnocchi was delightful, we were excited about the Brie pretzels but were underwhelmed, the lobster grilled cheese felt too much like a lobster salad and would really benefit from sizable bites of crustacean, braised short ribs were real yummy, and the lamb chops were delightful. Nice assortment of desserts too! This is a great wine bar and small plate spot, nothing magical when it comes to the food, but you won't be disappointed. Nobody was inside when we came and after we ordered place got packed right away. They serve small plates tapas style and my husband and I ordered chips and guac, burrata (cheese was delicious, had jam under the cheese which was such a compliment with the salad) Lamp chops with couscous (medium well and was tender and flavor was yum), octopus (came with potatoes and olives), and shrimp scampi with rosé! The food was all delicious and we may have ordered too much for us too but we left full and love sharing! Service was very friendly, but they got busy right away and we had to ask for water more than we should've. They do charge extra if you're not paying with cash! I've always enjoyed Barrique over the past 10 years. Service is great at the bar, food is solid, they have a beautiful outdoor area, etc. On Mothers' Day I went into the village with my daughter. I thought it would be crowded and told my daughter to take a walk while I got us on the anticipated list for a table. I was surprised when walking through the outdoor space up to the hostess stand that there were 4ish empty tables. I went in, asked to be seated at one of the two tops and preferably the high top. I was told they don't seat at the high top. That's a whole other conversation. So now there are 3 tables available, no line. I asked if I could be seated at one of those. And was asked "Is your whole party here?". It wasn't. They were going to be 5 mins behind me. The hostess would not seat me. I asked to speak to the manager to see if he would allow me to be seated at the empty, and let's face it, less desirable 2-tops. I planned to order without my daughter. He would not bend. I'll add here that I know Mother's Day can be super busy - that was not the case at this restaurant nor others in the same vicinity. We chose to leave and headed to another restaurant instead where we were seated immediately and without issue. But the review does not end here. A day later, my husband ordered takeout from this location and had a really unhappy experience as well. He placed the order via phone and 5-10 min later had to add another item. He called in the addition, was told it would be an additional 15 min to the quoted time and showed up 10 minutes after that time frame. The order was not ready. He waited for 30 additional minutes, without service or inquiry before asking (the person who turned out to be) the same manager for the order. This person was working rolling silver, stepped into the kitchen and immediately retrieved the entire order. No acknowledgement, no apology, nothing. And then, no one was happy with the quality of the food. It seems that there are some learning curves/bumps/??? between this (maybe new?) manager, staff, kitchen and customers. My hope is that they can figure it out. In the meantime, we won't be back. read more
