I've lived near Huntington for my whole life and only came here for the first time recently. It's a very cozy family restaurant that I would like to return to! As previous reviews mention, the inside is decorated to look like you're on a patio in Tuscany. It's deceptively large inside, and we sat all the way at the back around the corner. The waitstaff were very efficient and pleasant, giving my boyfriend and I time to look over the menu but coming soon after we'd set them down on the table. After some complimentary bread and very tasty garlic knots, we started with one of their appetizer specials to share, and were very pleased with it. It had fresh grilled Italian sausage served over garlicky cannellini beans and broccolini. Everything was balanced and well prepared. For our dinner we both got pasta; I got the butternut squash agnolotti (de zucca) with butter and sage, and he got the ricotta cavatelli bolognese. The bolognese was delicious, but I felt like the squash agnolotti needed something else to make it a proper dinner. The filling is just squash puree, no cheese, and the melted butter sauce is very very decadent. 5+ stars!! We walked in during the week for an early dinner. No reservations, no problem! The restaurant was beautiful! I loved the atmosphere and the decor. Slightly dark and romantic. We ordered drinks and were talking so much that we didn't look at the menu, the waiter was kind and let us be. For the appetizer we shared the grilled artichokes and they were by far the best I've ever had. We also dug into the bread which was delicious. I got a pasta dish with tomato, shrimp and pesto. The pasta was handmade. I loved it and I'm still thinking about it. I really want to have that dish again and again. My friend just wanted pasta with garlic and oil, it was not on the menu but of course they accommodated her . My other friend had lasagna and liked it. By the time we were finished, every table was full. I definitely will be back as soon as possible and I will try to get a different dish but it's going to be really hard not to order the same one! They gave us the perfect table tucked away in the corner which was nice and romantic for our belated valentines dinner. Our server, Douglas, had a perfect bold red wine recommendation, a Super Tuscan. We had the special baked oysters and burrata(stracciatella) as appetizers. Highly highly recommend the burrata which comes with prosciutto and toast. We had the special filet mignon and special ravioli which were cooked and seasoned to perfection. He reluctantly agreed came in on a busy Saturday night no reservation. Initially told an hour wait but they were able to seat us in this look nook area within minutes and I absolutely loved this little intimate cozy spot. I love margaritas initially I wasn't going to get one and was going to stick to wine but my husband ordered one as I stepped out to get something from the car. This is now one of my fav places for a good marg! I ended up having 4 usually it's 2 max! We started with a app special burrata, artichokes and peppers and yum yum so delicious! We decided to split a pasta and meat yikes incredibly good! I mean just outstanding pork with eggplant, prosciutto and mozz over a Marsala sauce oh my just incredible! Pasta another hit too perfect amount of cream just a touch and those mushrooms yum! We ended up going back a week later and I went with their bolognese another amazing hit! The food is delicious and unpretentious. The presentation is rustic and I love the kitschy atmosphere/ ambiance. It's a good place to take your parents or grandparents. The service is friendly. I would return if I was in the neighborhood but nothing in particular stood out. The artichokes were well dressed. The pistachio cake was decadent and enough to share with someone. I enjoyed the pizza but the dough was lacking flavor and the texture was off. The toppings on the pizza were definitely delicious. When you walk in, the bar is to your right and the back is where the event was held. It's intimate and the ambiance has a cute charm with the yellow walls. If this is on their regular menu, I'd suggest you try it. The "melanzane al forno" which is eggplant baked with tomato basil sauce topped with ricotta salata. At Restaurant Joanina, picture rights were more important than usual given some colorful juxtapositions, but trade policies were tweaked slightly, with a tacit understanding that sampling was still legal but at a lower volume. I enjoyed the pasta special with tomatoes and shrimp with a nice hit of garlic. Artichoke fans are in luck, with the vegetable starring in an appetizer and co-headlining a pesto-laden fusilli entree. Lots of fine moments all around from the grilled bread that accompanied the speck to the pistachio crust on the salmon. For my brother's birthday, he chose this great restaurant (after much obsessive Yelp research). When we arrived, I was stunned by the warm decor. It was crowded and we didn't have a reservation, but the hostess graciously gave us a perfect table near the front. The service is amazing!!! I always notice places that refill the water often (because most places are not good about that). Since I usually only drink water, anyway I was impressed by this attentive part of the service. They brought bread right away and the little garlic knots were outstanding. The server told us all the specials. For an appetizer, we had mushroom pizza. My dad ordered the special of bronzino. My brother and I ordered chicken dishes, and my mom had minestrone soup. We all loved the food, ambiance, and service. There were several birthday celebrations going on. Celebrating my son and his fiancé's upcoming wedding, we had dinner here on a busy Saturday night. After ordering wine and cocktails, we started off with the eggplant appetizer along with dishes of goat cheese, sopressata, and olives. This along with the garlic knots and bread was a great way to kick off dinner. Driven by a million times and finally got to experience Joanina. Met up with a few girlfriends, out for a nice dinner. The hostess stand is located past the bar, on the right hand side. Our party was seated in the other room, facing the pizza oven. We had a very nice server. I cannot remember his name but he was extremely patient with my group. Everyone in my party had ordered something different, so it was great to see the presentation of so many plates. I had ordered Veal Paillard, which looked scrumptious but tasted a bit off.
