We moved 20 miles away and still go here! The best and biggest variety of rolls in the South Bay. Also incredibly consistent in flavor. It's often hard given how much of it is dependent on the produce they get. The service is quick but this place is always busy. They close their lunch and dinner list pretty quick so make sure to get there before the crowd hits and it's always crowded lol. Their bento boxes are huge, the rolls are all substantial sizes. Many people I follow here have had good things to say about Sen Dai Sushi and I've had it bookmarked for quite some time now. Well, I finally got to try them out earlier today, and let's just say the experience did not disappoint. My friend V and I arrived at the tiny strip mall in which Sen Dai Sushi is located at around 12:45pm. As soon as we pulled up, we knew there would be a wait since the line was out the door. After we found parking, we went inside to grab a number. About 20 minutes later, one of the servers called our number and we were seated at the sushi bar. I started looking around as soon as we were seated. The restaurant looked pretty small (around 10 tables or so plus sushi bar seating) and the interior was on the darker side. The vibe of the restaurant was a vibrant one, as there were many young people dining while we were there. The restaurant was well-staffed, multiple servers were hustling getting orders to the tables and at least four sushi chefs were busy making the food. After a few minutes of looking over the menu, V and I ordered the following: - Spicy Tuna Roll ($5.50 an order) - Ace Roll (deep fried shrimp, spicy crab roll topped with salmon, tuna, halibut, avocado, tobiko, wasabi sauce, $12 an order) - Orange Lady Roll (deep fried shrimp, crab roll topped with smoked salmon, spicy sauce, tobiko, $12 an order) - In The Sea Roll (spicy tuna roll topped with salmon and yellowtail, $12.50 an order) - Sodas Since the restaurant was busy, it took awhile before the food came out (well, technically the rolls were handed to us since we were sitting at the sushi bar :-P). All the rolls were delicious and well-presented! The different types of fish used for the rolls were very fresh, as I did not detect anything off about them. The portions were very generous in my opinion. I've seen places charging those prices and give you a lot less. Service was excellent. A couple different servers came by to check on us several times. This is where my bf and I had our second date...or was it the third. Wow time flies but I remember how it was this tiny spot so reservations or getting there REALLY early kind of needed to happen as it got full quick. Not sure why this place in particular is THE place for Japanese but it somehow is. It's located in a small little plaza with Donut Basket. Parking isn't very large. I did mention that this place used to be small and now has expanded but still gets really packed. We called in for our order today and was estimated 25 minutes and it just opened. That's right. It's THAT busy. My bf went to pick it up and well I was wondering where he was. Apparently it took much longer than the estimated time. I don't know what the cost was but I'm sure it was an arm and a leg. The three rolls we got were In the Sea, Fuji, and Storm Bringer. All three rolls were fairly large and looked fresh. The In the Sea roll was pretty much a spicy tuna roll covered with fresh slices of salmon and tuna, but alas, you couldn't enjoy it cause it was like a fire in my mouth. It wasn't enjoyable and I like spicy food, but not to the point where I can't taste anything else but the spiciness. So note to self, never get any spicy tuna rolls here. The Storm Bringer had well fried soft shell crab, but nothing too amazing about that roll. The Fuji was baked, but again, it was just ok. I was super full, but not satisfied which is quite disappointing. Roll portions are large, but I'm sure they were costly. The wait time was not great and food was just ok. Made the drive from the east bay for some killer sushi and we we're definitely not disappointed. Came in at peak dinner time with the herd (3 little boys) and got seated immediately. The service couldn't get any better. From the hostess, to our waitress, all the way to our busser. Let me tell you a "secret" about a "blondie bombshell" who was a "storm bringer" and totally "orgasmic." Sen Dai offers some of the most unique and creative sushi rolls. However, if you're into nigiri they offer some of the most fattiest pieces ever. There generally is a line here and parking is not friendly. The lot is small and the spaces in the front closest to the buildings have reserved spots for each specific place. You'll either have to pray that you will get lucky with parking or park elsewhere and walk. The line seems to go quick since the place has bar seating and a decent amount of tables. There are plenty of sushi chefs making sushi at a fast pace. We were told to wait 25 minutes but we were called within 15. As my starting line states, we ordered the secret, the blondie bombshell, the storm bringer and the orgasmic. We were seated at the bar so the sushi chefs in front of us could just pass our sushi over when they were done. Storm Bringer - Oh this crunchy, deep fried crab goodness. These rolls are HUGE. I don't think I've ever seen rolls so thick. The pieces of salmon and yellow tail are incredibly fatty and taste so fresh and smooth. This roll has soft shell crab inside with either salmon, avocado, unagi or yellowtail on top. Trust me, this place does not skimp out on portion and fish. Blondie Bombshell - Next came our blondie bombshell. This was the most smooth sushi roll I've ever had. Inside contains eel and avocado and it is topped with yellowtail and unagi sauce. Most importantly, it comes with crushed macadamia nuts on top. Nuts and sushi? I never thought this combination would taste so good together. The nuts have a sweet taste but add a nice texture to the sushi roll. The yellowtail is oh so smooth and just glided through into my stomach, hehe. Orgasmic - If you are a spicy tuna lover and a cream cheese lover then this is your dream come true. Unfortunately what turned me off was the cream cheese. However, it was a delicious roll in terms of spicy tuna. You could taste the freshness and the mayo + spicy sauce combination really worked. I found that the cream cheese in this roll was way too overpowering. I've had cream cheese in rolls before but this is the first time I felt like I was swimming in cream cheese flavor. Secret - Oh gosh, this is truly a gem and is no secret on the menu. I don't know how they even thought of this but it is baked and comes out so warm. There is shrimp and avocado in the middle with baked salmon on top. The salmon is so flaky and just melts in your mouth. Everything about this roll was so delicious! If you are used to happy hour sushi prices then this might be a tad bit on the pricey side. The total for our 4 rolls was close to $60 after tip and tax. However, the portion size is generous and they were all made from high quality and fresh fish. Service was decent but not the best. It took a while for them to finally come to us and give us a box and our check. Truth be told, that blondie bombshell definitely brought in a storm but it wasn't orgasmic enough to take it to 5 stars. That's my secret. read more

I DO like that fact that they're always fully staffed. The sushi comes out pretty quick and the waiters/waitresses are super attentive. If they're not filling your water or asking if you need anything else, then they're standing by the sushi bar overseeing the dining area until they're needed. Today we had two dishes from the *NEW* items section.. Spicy Tartar -chopped tuna(or salmon) over avocado topped with a quail egg in ponzu sauce ~this was tasty! $9.50 Egg Bowl -ikura, tobiko, quail egg & uni over sushi rice ~they ran out of uni so I got more ikura..this was okay. $11.00 I always enjoy their Tokyo Combo which comes with 6 pieces of sashimi & 6 pieces of nigiri. Super fresh! It's their special rolls that never really "wow" me. I usually stick to the Mexican Style Roll (deep fried shrimp + cream cheese roll topped with salmon, pickled jalapeño, tempura crunch, spicy sauce & unagi sauce)-$13.00, if I have a saucy roll craving. All the other rolls seem to be missing something so we always ask to add spicy sauce or unagi sauce on top. We came around 5:15pm today and we got seated right away, but this spot is known to get busy real quick so it's good to come early! read more

Sen Dai Sushi opens at 11:30 for lunch so I planned on arriving just afterwards. I'm so glad I did. Got there at 11:45 and the only seating available was at the Sushi Bar. By the time I finished up, there was a wait out the door. Starting with the service, staff is obviously aware of the lunch hour and the need for efficiency. Sitting at the Sushi Bar, I was helped by multiple people but they were able to make me feel comfortable and not rushed. I don't know how service would have been had I been seated at a table, but there looked to be enough staff in the place that it would have been just as attentive. Look at my posted pics and know that it won't do the quality and quantity justice. The portion sizes of Sashimi were so generous, I swear, you can stop asking where Nemo is because I ate him. The Baked Green Mussels were served just right. I noticed the staff watching the dish before serving it to me so that the temperature was just right. I enjoyed every bite of my meal and I even ate rice as the combination comes with a heaping bowl of rice; comes with Miso Soup and Salad too. Those were okay. If management is reading this, I will say that when reprimanding your staff, that should be done outside of the customer's presence. I can understand the need for corrective action when running a business, but treat your staff, and anyone for that matter more respectfully. The staff had to endure that treatment right in front of the customers sitting at the Sushi Bar. I almost dropped my rating because of this but decided to stick with a high five! read more

Great place for sushi around the area. I came here for lunch with my mom and brother for my brother's birthday the other day, and man, it was hella packed at 11:45. We got lucky and got the last few seats at the bar. It was only open for 15 minutes and the restaurant was full already. We ordered a few rolls and some hot sake. -Orgasmic roll: Generally not a big fan of cream cheese in sushi, but this one was okay. I wouldn't say I loved it, but it was much better than the other one's I've tried with cream cheese. -Blondie Bombshell: Probably my favorite of the day. Super fresh fish topped with macadamia nuts. It was something I have never tried before, but it paired so well with each other. -Hopyard roll: Pretty much a Lion King roll but with unagi (eel). This is way better than a standard Lion King imo. -Sake: Definitely had better sake before. :/ Service here was really good. The waitresses always checked up on us every now and then. I would definitely come back here if it wasn't so busy all the time. Notes: Come early, especially if you want to go on a weekday. People come here for lunch hours all the time. A solid sushi joint that is understandably busy all of the time! We have had take out from this place on multiple occasions, including for parties and entertaining. The sizes of the rolls vary, but for the price you get a good amount of food. They're usually very busy pretty much all of the time, so to eat here be prepared to wait. My SO's family own and operate a few mom and pop sushi places as well and he really likes this place for many reasons, including good quality food and good service without unnecessary costs or frills. A few staples of mine from here are all the cooked rolls, including rock and roll, dragon and spider roll. The spider roll is huge, so be prepared to see and consume a giant roll (not everyone enjoys this). They have a number of special rolls that are heavily sauced and/or are baked that are also good, but I'm not usually a big fan of that type of roll (though you might be!) I also enjoy the hamachi kama and the salmon kama. The fried oysters appetizer is also super tasty as well! The bento box is decent, and the katsu curry is quite delicious. They also have a kalbi bento box which I ordered once but I won't order again - it was pricey and unfortunately came burnt. read more

I can't recall exactly what I ordered. There was a lot. The garlic edamame were delicious. I never tasted such well seasoned edamame before. The fish is extremely fresh, even on rolls. The fish eggs are really crispy. The seafood salad was nearly perfect (maybe slightly too salty). Everything is well prepared, presented and flavorful. It' slightly more pricey than other sushi joints but the quality is there! The only disappointment was the spicy seafood noodles (udon). Only a small portion of noodles (for 21$ they could give more noodles) and ...it wasn't spicy at all. Service is soso. I went there with my husband on Monday night, and it was packed. The parking lot is pretty small so you will need to drive around a couple of time to look for a parking. The turnaround was quick, so even though there were several parties in front of us we didn't have to wait that long. We set at the sushi bar and got to see all these sushi chefs making rolls and other dishes so fast. The servers are very quick and efficient as well! Their sushi were fresh enough and delicious. The rolls were quite good as well. Our dinner ended within 30 minutes. It was that quick. Too bad it's too far from my own house, otherwise, I would come here very often ;) read more

Comes with ponzu sauce. Really liked this one. Fresh, light taste, and the ponzu brightens it up a bit. - Sumo: Salmon and yellowtail roll topped with spicy tuna. The pickled jalapeno was really sour and spicy. Added an interesting kick to the roll. - Baked salmon: Not a fan of baked rolls, but this wasn't bad. My sister would've preferred a Lion King roll if they offered it, which I don't think they did. Good ratio between fish and rice.
