Welp the reviews were correct, I actually visited the store before reading any reviews. I walked in approx. a hr before closing and the rude bar hostess turned me away due to closing soon....unbelievable. The sad part is the reviews are the same all across social media and whomever the owners are.....do you wanna acknowledge that there is some kind of disconnect with your customer service areas? I wont ever come back, and Im happy about that decision. Rudeness is a NO NO when Im spending my money & time. There a zillion wineries and stores in this area. And the outside its not well kept at all. Tip: To the visitors this is a must do area, the harbor is gorgeous and there is a lot to do in the area. I enjoyed my stay minus this incident. read more

The wine here is very sweet. The woman working the counter was very rude and turned away about 30 people while we were there and told them to come back in 20-30 minutes because she had to sanitize the bar and was taking care of 8 people. She made a rude comment to me because my husband had stepped away to take my 5 year old to the bathroom that he should have focused and stayed at the counter because he was getting behind on tastings. Should we just have let him wet his pants? Overall that woman working is bad for business very rude and turning away customers that wanted to pay for tastings. I'm not sure if she is the owner or an employee but if she can't handle a little bit of business on a rainy Memorial Day weekend she should get help or find a new job. read more

My wife and I walked down to this winery after a morning hike through the gorge in Watkins Glen. It was an early Friday afternoon in early May, so not really busy. The building and atmosphere seemed great and the bar looked inviting. There were a few couples browsing the store and we were greeted enthusiastically by a woman who asked if we would like to partake in a tasting. Of course! She took us to the bar and introduced us to Vince. Vince poured us a welcome taste of an excellent mimosa and then provided us with a menu of options for our selection. He was incredibly helpful and informative about the styles of wine and the history of this particular winery. The selections here range from sweet wines to dry, from champagne to ports, sherry, madeira and more. The options allowed both my wife and I to try things that we had never really tried before and to learn about them in the process. Vince was a pro leading us through the tasting and provide all sorts of feedback, answers and suggestions. Another party came in while we were in the midst of our tasting, but Vince worked both sides of the bar very well. This was a great experience with some really nice choices in a pretty cool renovated factory right on the harbor shore. read more

I walked into this gorgeous building that is located right in the harbor only to be totally disappointed with my interaction with the person behind the counter. She was abrupt and rude. I had to ask her if they offered wine tastings and her reply was, "Well, if you want to." When I asked her a question about why she thought certain wineries were rated differently on Yelp, she got angry and stated, "You can't go by what Yelp says," as if I were ignorant. Well, had I read the Yelp reviews before going in, I could have saved myself the time and insult. As it turned out, they had mostly sweet wines and those are not my preference. Couldn't rate the wine, just the awful experience. Someone needs a lesson on courtesy. read more

1 Star is is an absolute stretch. On our first time to the Finger Lakes, we were winery hopping in Watkins Glen. As we entered, the woman behind bar was dealing with about 10 other women. I headed to the restroom and was sternly told "that's not for public use!" I get it, but I'm not wandering in from the street to use it. We were there to taste some wine and buy a bottle or 2. Not with that stinking attitude, we immediately left and spent our money elsewhere. Buh-bye. read more

It's unbelievable some of the posts for this place. Very laid back and chill place to get local recommendations of the best wineries in the area. Doreen was absolutely a gem and could recommend wineries by name and who the owners are! As someone who doesn't drink a ton of wine, Doreen knew how to give me things that hit the palate perfectly and the wine was reasonably priced. This is a must stop for us. No pressure, no fuss. Doreen was great!!! Such a great deal during covid for 5 flights and 1 complementary cup for only $5. They were able to squeeze in our group of 8 last minute by splitting us up, and gave us the best service and were way more friendly than all the other wineries we went to. Unbelievable rude staff. She began to serve us and then informed us that she was too busy to help us. We asked if we could buy a bottle and despite agreeing, she left us standing there for 5 mins. Worst service EVER! Stopped to purchase some wine and do a tasting. We were the only customers in the store. The older woman working was not helpful whatsoever - did not describe any qualities of the wines we were tasting and after she finished pouring walked away without one word and waited in the front of the store for us to pay. I felt awkward the entire time. My friend attempted to make polite small talk with the woman, but the woman became confrontational during checkout. Clearly that woman is MISERABLE in her position and is not good with working with the public. We will not be back - worst experience. read more

Year after year our favorite stop. Doreen is the kindest most knowledgeable host. My best wines are the Champagne and Ports.

Our small group stopped by here before our reservation at the Seneca Harbor Station to try out some local wine before dinner. The first thing the woman running the place said to us is that we needed to stand right here at the bar, pointing imperatively. Then when we asked for a wine list, she would only give us the list if we came specifically to where she pointed (the lists were printed on loose pieces of paper that could be placed anywhere, or even picked up). One of us was trying to figure out which wine was the one she liked best from that winery, and upon asking for help, she was given a wine without saying to us about what it was, or to try to help us figure out her favorite wine. After that was done, the other of us were ready to start trying some wines after reading the menu, but were given the quick retort "that's your only free one, no more". We said that we wanted to pay to try some wines, but were simply ignored. For a wine tasting place, the woman providing the tastings made it feel as uncomfortable and inhospitable as I've ever seen a place like this. The woman made no effort whatsoever to earn our business. I feel bad, maybe she could use a hand with cashing out customers and tastings? The rudest service I've received, in a personal, client-facing establishment. I could never recommend this place to anyone else. read more

If I could give the customer service a negative rating I would. We went there today after having a wonderful experience at two other wineries in the area. We never got to taste any wine because the rude argumentative women that was working there. She tore a paper from the bar that I had been looking at telling me she needed to clean the bar. When we tried to make small talk her with she was just nasty. We left after I told her she had a nasty attitude and was being rude. I'm not sure how this business stays open because it seems like we are not the only people that have had the same experience. My suggestion is to stay away from place there are so many other wineries that are so welcoming. A large, pleasant room offering free wine tastings from several local vineyards, with plenty of bargains to be had. We stopped in for ten minutes and emerged with an excellent Spumante and some delicious pink wine - they lean towards semi-sweet, sparkling whites and blushes here. Unfortunately I'll have to review negatively, the woman at the counter was clearly miserable from the time we entered the building. It was like pulling teeth to get a wine list and she was apprehensive to even have us do a tasting even though we were paying for it. Our friend in the group chose not to taste because she was our designated driver. She tried to make small talk with woman at the counter and she shot back quick hostile remarks about how she wasn't on holiday so she couldn't possibly be enjoying herself serving us. I opted not to give them my business due to her poor attitude and demeanor. Our friends husband decided to buy 3 bottles where the woman at the counter asked them "why are you like this?" In a rude tone. My friend disgusted excused herself while her husband closed the bill. I'm sure she isn't the only person who works there but she needs to pep up or not work there. We came across this charming place after strolling along the harbour front sun evening , Doreen the manager and employee Anthony were friendly and attentive. The wines were very reasonably priced and the white Niagara soon became an instant favorite, don't miss the chance to sample the Pink Catawaba and the traditional method Champagnes can only be found here, We were so impressed with the Pleasant valley wines sold here we toured the Winery in Hammondsport the very next day. Very reasonably priced and an easy going atmosphere that makes you feel like your sitting dwon with friends. The nice thing about this place besides the many varieties they bottle is that you can walk right in while touring this quaint lovely town, We will definetlycome back and dont forgett to try the Chocolate Lab, thanks Doreen and Anthony for the tasting and local chatting I cannot understand how anyone could give a poor review a really nice place to stop by for a sample. If this is the place near the harbor, never go here. We went in for a tasting (as complete out-of-towners) and were told by the kid serving us we could keep the glasses (as many other wineries in New York State also say). So we went to ask for a bag for them and the woman up front said that we could not keep them. So naturally we gave them back, apologized for the miscommunication and went on our way. Doesn't this lady come out screaming at us that she is going to call the cops, not once but twice. We had already apologized profusely for the miscommunication but she kept changing her story, first that she wanted to make sure that her employee wasn't telling people the wrong thing and then later about how he would never tell us that and we were trying to steal from her. We felt extremely harassed by this woman and will never, ever go back to this store after the way we were treated. As business professionals, we apologized for the lack of communication and instead of being a polite business owner this woman made us feel harassed and unwanted. I think our August wine trip will stay far far away from this place. read more
