Tried today for the first time! Got a gel manicure by Van and it was PERFECT! I had acrylics for years and recently switched to the cool gels. Have tried 4 different salons with not so good results... until now. Am so happy with the job she did! This place is not the cheapest but it was the best! I have been going here since it opened. Once in a while I try another salon either in the area or while I am traveling, and always go back to Sensation. The people are very nice, professional, and care very much about the quality of their work. I see how they treat younger customers (including my daughter when she was a pre-teen) - with the same attention that they treat the adults. The Salon has become very popular, so call ahead for reservations - unlike most salons, which will tell you, oh, just wait (and then make you wait 1/2 hour or more) Sensation has respect for your time and if you walk in without an appointment and they cannot take you, they will tell you that. I had my first and last appointment today at Sensation Nail Spa. I made an appointment for a pedicure and was seated at a chair 5 minutes after my appointment time. I then sat in the chair for another 20 minutes before an employee filled the tub with cold water. This is my first time having my feet soaked in cold water in a salon. Ten minutes later the employee started my pedicure and asked me if I had picked a color. It is unfortunate that she did not ask me to select a color during the 30+ minutes I was waiting. When I pointed out to the employee that my appointment was for 30 minutes ago, she did not even respond or apologize. I should have gone with my instinct and walked out. I then experienced the worst pedicure of my life. There was rough handling of my feet, sloppy filing job, and no attention to detail. I paid $6 more for my heels to be scrubbed and filed and honestly they look no different than when I walked into the salon. After painting my toenails the employee said she would help me put on my slippers and when I asked if I could have a dryer for my nail polish (they were still very wet), she acted surprised. I have had manicures and pedicures from many salons and this is by far the worst experience ever. read more

My daughter and I were in Rancho Palos Verdes (at Terranea Hotel) for a wedding, and couldn't book a last minute nail treatment on-site. We were delighted to find this spa which hosted us the same day. They couldn't have been more welcoming, acknowledging who we were the second we walked in the door. As it was close to the holidays, the place was bustling. They directed us to the colors and then set us up in our nice massage chairs! I only needed my toenails done while my daughter had the whole treatment, including gels. I was delighted that one lady spent as much time and energy on my service, primarily massaging my feet, as she did! She kept working on me throughout my daughter's treatment. It was heavenly, better than anywhere else I've had it done, including real massage treatments! Two people worked on my daughter, one at her hands, one at her feet. She likewise LOVED the skilled and caring treatment. The smile on her face was priceless. When all was said and done, it was far less expensive than even the not-so-nice one on our corner back home. I was amazed! I ended up paying almost the same amount in a tip (for my service) as the bill, partly of course due to the holiday. But mostly because of the outstanding service! The neighborhood and shop itself was also very nice, giving me a great sense of confidence the second I walked in the door. One of the owners and some of the other ladies that weren't even directly working on us were also so kind and thoughtful, looking after getting my phone on a charger, and making sure I didn't lose my jacket, also inviting us to stay and get comfortable indoors where it was warm so we didn't have to wait for our ride outside in the cold.
