As a wedding and event planner I often have a lot of people ask me where they can go for services. When brides to be or ladies see my nails or toe nails they often ask where I get it done. I'm extremely high maintenance and particular about my hair and nails. I usually like to change it up and go to various locations and cities to get beautified just to make sure my referrals and praises stay true and honest. Well today, I experienced a huge disappointment so here it is, the ugly truth. These girls that own Sensation Nail Spa used to work up the street not even a block down from their current location. They weren't pleased with the micromanagement they received, so they decided to open a place of their own. I now know, they needed that micromanagement for a reason. When they opened, during the first few months they did well. Fast forward to a few years later and here's the scoop. I went in this Saturday and asked if I can get pink and white gels. I was short on time and we came to an agreement that we'd work on it as far as we can go. They know how busy I am and how loyal. Given my time restriction, she worked on my nails and got as far as applying the pink gel (unfiled and incompleted) with my approval because I had to go. I asked when she would be back at the nail salon and she said Monday. So we made an appointment for Monday at 6:30pm to continue where we left off to finish the last final stage to the whole process. She kept telling me it will only take 10-15 minutes to finish. So I agreed happily, paid them and told them I will see them at 6:30pm on Monday. Monday 7/29/13. I was busy all day and evening and made the necessary schedule arrangements to get there on time. Luckily, I made it to the nail salon an hour and half early. I walked in to see if there was a cancellation. Even though there was nothing going on and she was not doing anything, she told me to come back at 6:30pm as we had originally scheduled. Right at 6:30pm I walked in and sat down and waited. She was working on a customer and I expected a 10-15 minute wait, because that is standard and normal. I waited patiently, quietly and calmly. Not once did she say anything to me or acknowledge the fact that she was now running 33 minutes late herself. Well I sure as hell was not going to wait around anymore. I had things to do and I was pissed off! I left, because I was livid. Nails half done, prepaid and services not completely rendered. I called her later when I tried to calm down to tell her how poor her communication and customer service was. I was extremely upset and disappointed at their service. I called and spoke to a few people I had just recently referred Sensation Nail Spa to. When they told me that they too had waited over 20 minutes I was DONE. I let her have it! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE in my book and therefore as a wedding and event planner, they will be blacklisted and never referred to again. My reputation is at stake. When people see my nails and toenails and ask me where it was done, I like to proudly refer them. Shame on the owner for "disowning" her huge mistake and completely failing at customer service. Not only did she fail but she also tried to twist shit and make it my issue and somehow blame me and give me shit for leaving. She's pulling this bullshit on the wrrrrrrong person. LOL... so SHAME ON HER for even insisting that this was my fault. How is it my fault when I accommodated her, have given her business, have always been patient and lost 2 hours of my time and money for her horrible service. I apologize fellow Yelpers, I seldom bash or write reviews are bad and zero star worthy. I have to agree with Alissa M and Cici C.... I give a negative [-2] stars. Don't go here if you're looking for respectable nail techs who do good work . I had beautiful natural nails. I never liked acrylic or got acrylic but was forced into doing it because the techs at this shop ruined my nail bed. I was new to the area and originally went to Nancy to get my nails done a few months ago for my wedding . I decided to get Gel to last and she did a decent job. I was new to the area and just wanted a low key environment to get my nails done. When i tried to go back to make a follow up appointment with her , nancy wasn't even there and the male working there put me with another nail tech. Shelly. She ruined my nails. When Nancy saw how much my nails had been destroyed she apologized told me she would fix my nails but the nail bed was so weak she couldn't do anything but Dip them. I hate acrylic! But i felt trapped and conned into thinking she would rely revive my nails as promised.I went to the salon for months . Nancy kind of became annoyed with me because my nails continued to crack and i would complain to her . I was so convinced she could help. I'm an idiot apparently and that's how she talked to me. Also, If you can't stand when nail techs talk about you in front of you in a different language DONT come here! They will talk about you like a dog in their language If you let them. I've seen several older women confront the nail techs here about their rudeness. Speak English when talking about me in front of me! The last straw was my last nail job by Lin. My nails were still cracking at the meat months later after switching over to Lin. Lin was nicer than Nancy . She tried to help my nails she promised so many things but i felt like i had to teach her how to design , she did a crap job on my last nail job and i love myself enough now to walk away from my hope that they could be my neighborhood nail spa. 3 days after my trip and 3 of my dipped nails cracked down to the meat! Find another place in TORRANCE to go get nails done. That's what I'm doing. This is a one time stop shop for emergencies only . Don't get caught up in here. read more

No greeting, no smile, no nothing. I had to go to this place because of a time crunch and a few chipped gel nails. I just wanted the gel removed. I was told to sit and wait while at least 4 available staff members milled around with no clients. To make it worse, 2 walk-in's came in after me and were seated and attended to while I waited another 15 minutes. When It was finally my turn, the girl didn't say one word and motioned to her chair. I then sat for another 20 minutes with foils around my fingers with no explanation as to where she was going, watched her wax some eyebrows then disappear for another 10 minutes. I have been getting my nails done here for several months now, and can't think of going anywhere else. I was referred through a coworker, who gets her *gel* nails done here by Michele. They use gel in place of acrylic, which is better for your nails. The natural nail underneath doesn't become as thin and brittle like they do with acrylic nails. Michele is an expert at doing these, from application to shaping. I always get compliments on my nails. It is about $45 for a new set and $40 for a fill, and sometimes will charge if you break or lose a nail. It is a bit pricey but definitely worth it. I would recommend going in for a fill every two weeks or less to avoid breakage. The pedicures are very nice too, the other Michele is always nice (I can't tell if she's Vietnamese? She speaks so fluently!) and they use a new clean liner for each individual to avoid contamination. The owner also did my pedi once, and she is very nice as well, making sure I was happy with the services. It's a little out of the way coming from Long Beach, but so very worth it. read more

Since last week when I got my acrylics put on 4 nails have popped off in the span of a week. This is the worst acrylics I have ever gotten.
