Sense is an ultra-luxurious, peaceful, and gorgeous spa located in the Rosewood Sand Hill resort. Surrounded by picturesque mountain views, this spa is the perfect location to spend a day pampering yourself or celebrating a special occasion. Most recently, I enjoyed a spa day, a birthday gift from my husband. It was an incredibly relaxing and peaceful experience. I enjoyed a 90-minute Swedish massage, although the pressure was slightly more firm than I had hoped. Additionally, I loved relaxing in the cozy relaxation area and private outdoor courtyard and using the amenities, such as the sauna and steam room. Complimentary champagne, tea, and light snacks are also provided for you. My only comment about Sense is that they should offer more of an extensive menu for food besides the complementary light snacks available. Besides that, I've always had a lovely experience at Sense, and I highly recommend it.

Upon arriving at the Rosewood for a spa appointment, note that the spa is located at the back of the resort so you can either park in the back or take the short walk through the hotel and past the pool. Reception offers water, tea, or champagne upon arrival The spa facilities include locker rooms, showers, sauna, steam room, and two relaxation rooms. The relaxation rooms have different snacks/drinks and one room is co-ed. My massage was great and would definitely come back when I want to splurge.

I went to Sense today for an afternoon of pampering. Being a mom is tough, and I needed a few hours to myself to relax. I had high expectations for the spa, considering the prices and location. I've been to Rosewood several times to dine at the restaurant, but this was my first time going to their spa. If you haven't been before, make sure you park at the opposite end of the self-parking lot. I parked here and walked to the lobby, then realized I needed to get back in my car and park closer to Sense. I really liked how there was so much natural light throughout. Whenever I go to spas, I find them too dark. Sense had lots of windows and sunlight to brighten the space. All of the amenities were clean, well-maintained, and fairly new looking. You should definitely set aside a few hours to get your money's worth. Get to the spa early, lounge around in your robe, get a massage, and then continue to enjoy the jacuzzi/steam/sauna/showers. I appreciated the complimentary glass of champagne, but I would have liked to see a few more beverages and snacks available. There was spa water, tea, dried cranberries, and almonds. It would have been nice to have fresh fruit or a few more drinks to choose from. Overall, I may prefer going to Burke Williams because I feel like it's a better value. But I'm glad I tried Sense for something new! Make sure you get Spafinder giftcards at Costco ($80 for $100) before coming.

Overhyped and overpriced for what is provided. Everything is nice but where's the "WOW" factor?

5 star+. Pricey but so worth it especially for a birthday or anniversary type visit. I cannot wait to go again.

My only complaints of this place were the lack of aromatherapy in the steam room, and very small hot tub area.

It was much easier to relax at this place because it doesn't have that bustling feeling I'd experience at other salons. Not overly packed and a calmness from staff. I had very dry feet with some heavy calluses so I opted for their best pedicure, the deluxe vip one. It definitely felt worth it. Tony did my pedicure and he was very warm and kind. I pointed out the calluses and he took extra care addressing them until smooth. My only complaint was he ended up cutting/filing one of my big toes too much that it looked close to bleeding (it did break so it was short), and too many coats of the nail polish made it thick. Still an amazing experience and still worth the price. I booked pretty last minute so I didn't get to book some of the staff I see recommended on here. I definitely want to return. P.S. the massage chair here is the best one I've experienced in any salon, AND the salon is right by menlo park's farmers market so it makes for a great little self-care day

I chose any tech to do my nails because I didn't know anyone or their work. My daughter booked Jessica for both her mani/pedi and she was very happy! We were both satisfied with our service. Although, I did notice that all of customers were provided water, but I wasn't (no big deal). I just thought it was odd that I wasn't offered. On the second visit, my daughter was booked with Jessica, but she was wrapping up a pedi. A lady sat her down and went to another tech and told her to provide service to my daughter. About 5m into her mani, Jessica became available but didn't do my daughter's nails. Not sure if Jessica was told, but my daughter didn't to be rude and offend Anna. My daughter had asked for "square-round" but she got square instead. I had Yen (again). She isn't the nicest or possess good customer service for a prime establishment like Dep. She grinded my nail so thin that I felt the warmth and slight pain during the efile removal of the builder gel. She also slighlty nicked my cuticle, but luckily it didn't bleed. Although the salon was busy on our second visit, the crowd quickly disappeared, no water was offered, and the customer service was ok. I still tipped 20% but felt like I should have tipped less for the service. I felt stressed during my session because I was afraid I was going to get hurt in some way, and my daughter didn't get the shape she had requested. It wasn't relaxing at all for either of us. We opted not to get a design because we were already stressing out and unsure of their skills. That being said, I still give them 4 stars because I really want to highlight the esthetics of the salon, the awesome service my daughter received from Jessica, the service I received from Karen (first visit) who was nice and understood what I wanted. We will go back. I feel that we may have found our "go-to" spot for nails. I just wished their service was consistent with each visit.
