This place was literally several doors down from my AirBNB apartment. I sat at the bar and got amazing service. I got tapas based on the recommendation of the sever and loved all of it. I had a simple glass of white wine to accompany the meal and a cortado at the end, which was great. The dessert was a dulce de leche cheesecake, which I LOVED! Came here with my boyfriend on our last night in Spain because all of the Sensi locations had great reviews and came highly recommended from friends. We ordered 6 tapas between the two of us, and the first four of them arrived in a timely manner after each other and were delicious! But, after our waitress took the 4th plate away we were left for more than 30 minutes without any attention from our server. They finally brought out the 5th item that we ordered, and after that they cleared all of our plates and silverware without explanation. We thought maybe we would be brought fresh plates and silverware for our last order. But, after another 20 minutes of waiting it became clear that they forgot our last dish. We asked for the bill and that they just forget about the last dish, and they apologized by bringing us limoncello shots "on the house", but looking around it became clear that everyone at the restaurant was receiving the same shots after their meal as a complimentary treat from the restaurant. This made us feel like the apology had been disingenuous, and we left very disappointed in the experience. Myself and my wife stayed along the ramblas for 3 days with a series of mediocre to good food, a little sad considering Barcelonas reputation. Strayed a good 10 minutes further away than the previous walks for dinner and found this place by luck. My wife had the steak, cheaper and better than in most US so called steak restaurants. I had the duck, potato and parmesan dish, named The Best for a reason. Fantastic experience with the local meat and cheese platters as well. Staff was very knowledgeable about their fare and friendly. By chance there was an American, Brit and Spaniard on staff today, not sure their story but the American is from Seattle. Wonderful experience and as expressed to the staff, what we were hoping from a meal in Barcelona. About 50 euro for plates of local meat, local cheese, steak and potato, amazing duck dish, two glasses of red wine, sparkling water and espresso. read more

**tourist trap warning** Should have known when I looked at the decidedly non-Spanish menu... If you are visiting Barcelona and not seeking a full meal of traditional tapas (don't be ashamed if not, not everyone is dying for squid and sardines, I'm not even sure I am) then this place would be fine -- though I would make sure the pimientos padron are on your menu and I would steer clear of any meat dishes, which were badly overcooked. The waiter chose the dishes for us (which is how they recommend you do it) and our second course was cheese ravioli with artificial white truffle oil on top. Our third dish was eggplant with mozzarella, not well seasoned. It felt a bit insulting to our intelligence, though many other customers seemed to be enjoying themselves. Waiter was not Spanish (and slightly rude) and every customer was clearly not local. Having said that, if you are seeking something reminiscent of a middle of the road pan-Mediterranean spot from your hometown in the U.S., this will be about the same. You must get the duck confit. Honestly, that was the one dish that really stood out to me, and now I have to try my hand at making it at home. It had a tasty layer of potatoes, and was topped with a balsamic reduction that really pulled the whole thing together. I could have probably eaten three of them by myself and called it a day. That being said, the other plates we tried were also pretty tasty. The paella was too salty for my taste and the flavors were just too strong in my opinion, but my friend really enjoyed it, so I'm sure it's personal preference. As far as seafood dishes went, I preferred the calamari with garlic and parsley. The squid comes out pink and tender served on top of the riches, creamiest mashed potatoes I've ever had. It was definitely decadent, but the quality of the calamari won me over. The tapas here are not traditional, so just be aware that you will be getting dishes with a French twist. It was a nice little indulgence though from the more local, less refined tapas places. Be aware that it gets busy later at night - if you eat at American dinner time it will be fairly empty, but the restaurant fills up around 9:30/10pm. The staff is all amiable and courteous, and they really make an effort to accommodate you even when it's busy. A bonus for English speakers - they provide menus in and all speak some level of English. I struggled through as much Spanish as I could before the server had mercy on me and switched over to English. read more

After my negative review 3 weeks ago my friends have begged me to give Sensi a new chance. However I am still not impressed and now I know exactly why. It's because you feel like your paying for the chefs experiments. Some of the dishes are good but others are just a combination of ingredients that doesn't work. It's like eating at the chef academys school restaurant. Here are the dishes I tried: "Wild mushroom profiteroles with Pedro Ximenez sauce" - 2/5 the sauce is too sweet and hides flavor from the mushrooms. "Fresh truffle ravioli in parmesan cream, scented with truffle oil" - 1/5. Too much cream which makes it really heavy and hides the full flavor of other ingredients. "Patatas Bravas" - 4/5 really good. "Tuna tartar, kiwi coulis and wasabi foam" - 2/5 they put dijon mustard on top which hides the full flavor of the tuna. "Risotto with prawns flambe with Cointreau" - 2/5 the dish was OK but I hate when they don't peel of the shell from the prawns in a hot dish. I am sorry but this was the last visit. read more

I don't know what was better, the food or the service? Amazing find, and there are multiple locations in the Gothic Quarter of the same restaurant family. The waitstaff was extremely pleasant and the food was amazing too. I had the croquettes and seafood paella tapas, while my mom tried the shrimp "hindu" and sautéed mussels. I would recommend all 4 items and recommend trying this restaurant. We first tried to go Sensi Bistro at 6pm and they were booked solid for the whole night! But the host recommended one of the other 3 spots where we were able to get a table, so I would recommend getting a reservation. It will be worth it! read more

Excellent tapas here; perhaps the best gourmet tapas I've had in Barcelona! Like many others, we started off our night feeling a bit confused because there are multiple Sensis within a short distance of each other. We walked into the wrong Sensi at first, but the waiters were extremely helpful and even walked us over to the correct one. I was with three others- and everyone here loved everything we ordered, with one exception--the squid. However, everything else was basically perfect. It seemed that the meat dishes were the real stars of the menu here-- the beef filet, duck timbale, and pork tataki were all hits with us. We also loved the risotto and ravioli. The most memorable tapa was likely the mushroom crema catalana-- which was phenomenal, but should have been served towards the end, as a more dessert-like end to the meal. If you are dining alone and can only get three things, I very much recommend the risotto, beef filet, and mushroom crema catalana. You won't be disappointed. I do recommend going with a group of 2-4, though-- sharing here is much more enjoyable as there is so much variety. read more
