I forgot to write about this, but I came here awhile ago to enjoy some amazing, amazing fried chicken!! I ordered the original chicken to go, and it lost its crispiness by the time I got home. The next time I was there with my wife, we ate at the restaurant. A much better decision. The crispy of the chicken was just right, and the service was excellent. There is just the right amount of seating if you choose to enjoy your meal there. Also a little bit of soft music in the background to vibe to. Each time we've gone there, the menu seems to keep expanding. Definitely a place my wife and I will visit again. read more

This is another one of my reviews that makes me wish Yelp did 1/2 stars. I will always round up so this is getting three stars because it wasn't terrible but it was not good enough for me to go back. There were five of us and we tried several of their menu items. Probably my favorite was the Jap-Chae or the Honey Gochujang wings. I love me a seafood pancake but this one was just bland. It was good sized and full of seafood, but it screamed for salt and seasoning. The spicy wings tasted like a spicy sauce you would get in a teriyaki joint and it was NOT spicy at all. Almost kind of ketchupy. I was excited to try their Tteok-Bokki and at the recommendation of the person taking our order, got the Rosé. This has to be the strangest dishes and flavors I have had in a very long time. I have had this dish elsewhere and really enjoyed it, however this one was just strange. Perhaps it's just me, but no thanks. The fried and steamed dumplings are as you would expect and the beef bulgogi was fine. Staff were nice and friendly, but there are lots better KFC places around here. read more

Good Korean food in University Place!!! They finally opened! This place had a "coming soon" sign outside for at least 2 years. Glad to see they are finally open for business. We finally got around to giving them a try. I love Korean food and am a tough critic of the food because I have had the BEST! From NYC to Los Angeles we have eaten at many of the top spots. This place was nice, but is not one of those top spots. Small casual restaurant, friendly staff will greet you, then you order at the counter and find a table. We ordered: 1 - Korean Chicken Wings - Sweet & Spicy. This was the best dish we ordered. They came out last but had a good crispy outside breading and the sweet/spicy mix worked! Not as good as our Korean BBQ chicken spot in Federal Way, WA but delicious and much closer to home. 2 - La Kalbi - Marinated BBQ short ribs. This dish was really well executed too! Small portion but was only $28 (easily over $40 in other restaurants we have eaten in). Was another winner. 3 - Soon Tofu Soup - with kimchi - I liked the soup but we have other local spots that make it better. 4 - beef Bi-Bim-Bap - served in a hot stone bowl I was disappointed they cooked the egg. Just crack a raw egg on top and let it cook in the hot stone bowl!!! I also wish they offered the dish with spicy pork but they do not (I asked if they could go off menu and make it and was like old no). Had a nice meal but our favorite spot in the International District in Lakewood, WA is better. read more

I really wanted to love this spot. The food came out looking beautiful -- fresh and well-plated. And the service was absolutely amazing -- super friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. That said, the flavors didn't quite live up to the visuals. The LA kalbi was way too salty, and the chicken wings were coated in a sauce that was overly sweet. My friend's soup came in a very small portion and was super watered down -- definitely not what we were hoping for. Portion sizes overall felt pretty small for the price, and the seasoning could use some balance. There's definitely potential here, especially with the great service and presentation, but the food just needs a little fine-tuning to really shine. read more

Food quality: good Service: poor. We have eaten here 2x. First was takeout and had no issues there. They only forgot the sauce for bimbimbop and no utensils. 2nd time we dine in. Terrible customer service. They didn't give us menus and I had to ask for them. They had us waiting for almost 10 minutes. They didn't give any instructions on how to order. They never checked on us. Anytime we needed something I had to go up to front or wait in line. We didn't get extra sides. There was no signs either about this service. Felt very ignored and made our experience sour with the poor customer service and lack of attentive. The food portions were decent sizes but they were overpriced. Atmosphere: feels like it's lacking and unfinished. Notes: I really wish this could've been my new go to korean spot. read more

The food exceeded my expectations beyond what I could have hoped for. We ordered five dishes and had to stop ourselves from eating everything in front of us because it was so delicious. We had the Korean fried chicken appetizer and dumplings, then a seafood pancake, bibimbap, and the glassy noodles made from yam that my bestie wanted. The food is Outstanding! This is one of those don't judge a book by its cover deal, doesn't look like much from the outside but inside be prepared for fabulous Korean food. We had vegetable pancake, hot and spicy Korean wings, and of course bulgogi. Authentic flavors my mouth and stomach are both happy. Pro tip: try the bulgogi on top of the pancake and ask for gochujang (Korean hot sauce) to kick it up a little. read more

I like getting takeout from here when I'm in Tacoma or gig harbor. It's definitely a mom and pop shop, in a good way. Prices are maybe a little on the high side (due to portions being on the medium to medium/small side), but the food is really good, especially any of the beef items. read more

Decided to come here on a weekday night around 8 pm. The building format was kind of odd. The inside looked nice and freshly updated. The interior format looked like it was a converted fast food chain to restaurant. I was told that any orders would be takeout which was fine. I decided to order the rose tteokbokki and beef bulgogi. The order came with rice and a small box of 4 different side dishes, broccoli, bean sprouts, kimchi, and cucumbers. The tteokbokki was okay, nothing extraordinary. I felt like there was too much filler (carrots, lettuce, pepper, onions) and first time having sausage and bacon in this dish. The beef bulgogi was decent and had a lot of filler as well, but it was not my favorite. I didn't try their suggested item, their fried chicken just based on the earlier reviews. Overall, this is an average place and definitely adds diversity in the UP area. I might try this place again to try their other dishes, especially if it was for dine-in. read more

This was honestly one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. I love Korean food I will literally travel thousands of miles just to try different spots so I came in really excited to see what this place had to offer. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype at all. While ordering, I had a few questions about the menu because I wanted to make sure I was choosing the right dishes. Instead of helping, the staff member kept rushing me and moving on to the next order while I was still trying to speak. It felt rude, dismissive, and honestly uncomfortable. It got to the point where I almost canceled my order and walked out. On top of that, the food itself was disappointing. It lacked flavor and didn't reflect the richness and depth that Korean cuisine is known for especially compared to other places I've been to. The experience was really frustrating. I strongly suggest management invest in better customer service training. A little patience, respect, and friendliness would go a long way. Servers are unaware or choose to ignore cross contamination of raw food and touching bills (cash/ dollar bills). More than five time I watched as gloved servers went from cleaning a table to serving vegetables and raw meat. One server was so bold as to come to our table (after cleaning another spot and handling raw meat) pick up the scissors and start cutting the meat on the grill. She stopped once I significantly raised my voice to say, "Stop, no!" I will never go back to this restaurant. Even the restrooms needed more basic cleaning. The food was okay flavored, but I have been in Korean BBQ restaurants much cleaner and with staff fully educated about cross contamination. read more

Back today and noticed the menu was different - no soup anymore on the menu. ordered the bibimbap again which I had had before and it's no longer served with any banchan at all. Disappointing change! Saw this place just opened couple weeks ago , so I thought to give it a try. Cozy little spot with limited parking. The menus are on the counter as soon as you walk in, weird they don't have them on the two flat screens behind the counter . At first glance ...the menu is pretty small and portions ehhhh..it's ok ...GREAT FLAVOR tho ...need a little more for the price IMO. Traveling along Bridgeport way looking for lunch, I came across this gem of a place of a new restaurant. I stopped and ordered my lunch to go and food came out 10-12 mins. Service was spot on with great customer service. The gentleman that took my order was very kind. I had order beef bumbipbap and mushroom bimbipbap for my friend. I also order a veggie pancake which was very delicious and huge! Bimbipbap was comforting and very simple. Adding the gochujang bimbipbap sauce added the right amount of heat. I have lived in University Place for 42 years and we are always excited for new things around here. I've heard talk of this new spot so we decided to try after a band concert at the Jr high. We got there at 8 they close at 9 so we were immediately advised we could not eat inside. I'm no doubt a foody and appreciate my food fresh and hot so I was mildly put off having to drive home, but okay.. my husband and I both ordered the bulgogi. It was decent surely hot, but beef was slightly dry. The meal came with some decent extras. Everyone is talking about this fried chicken so naturally I couldn't wait! Total let down. Chicken was raw inside. I was shook after I realized it because my son was eating away from us in his room. Imagine my heart failure and then guilt after I had to go take it from him because it was RAW. I work for a living, spent $82 on this meal. IMO that's a lot for the 3 of us. We came, we ate, not worth the hype or money. We won't be back. Customer service is lacking as well. SK, you got some work to do. read more
