Went in needing help with picking out a perfume. I had gotten a sample of the perfume & took a picture of it so I wouldn't buy the wrong one. Went in & got help. Apparently there was a men's & women's version of the perfume. The associate decided to mansplain to me the men's perfume smells more fresh because it's the men's version & the women's is more floral-y because it's the women's version. She said it just like that. I looked at her like, are you kidding me???? I still purchased the perfume. I'm not going to let a jerky associate prevent me from getting what I want. She might want to take customer service 101. Ridiculous. read more

The BEST Sephora I've ever been to for customer service. I had been struggling for months to find the right concealer. Most of them make the purple in my under eye show no matter what I do. Or they're so cakey. A lovely woman with curly silver hair helped me. She tested different shades, explained my skin tone, and made me feel beautiful once she found my perfect tone. Felt so compelled to come on here and leave a review about my salesperson Ranna today (really hope I'm getting her name right!). I have walked in and out of Sephora stores for months now because I'm just not knowledgeable enough in products but knew what I was looking for and every time I asked someone I felt like it just wasn't quite the right products for me. I booked a makeup appointment here and was a little nervous since the last time I got my makeup done was 9 years ago. I showed my makeup artist, Tatum some examples of what I would like and she knew exactly what to do. I appreciate that she listened to what I wanted and suggested makeup for me! I should've listened to the bad reviews, they literally act like they're being forced to help you. I asked for a color match and they forgot about me, when I finally got help. the artist left and went to go help someone of their own culture and took their sweet time and forgot to circle back to me. It felt like I had to chase them around. At the end, who I believe was the store manager, came and thanked me for my "patience" for remaining polite throughout the whole ordeal. I have never been to this location before as it's not the closest one to me. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Lola, who was amazing. She helped me find every single product I needed, did a perfect color match, and provided me a whole new skincare routine. I've avoided Sephora as a retailer in light of their business practices (selling in anti-women homophobic countries). A specific product was recommended, and that Sephora was where I could find it, so I chose to make the exception. I entered a store with at least three young employees chatting amongst themselves, ignoring me, the only customer in the store. ‍ I approached the register area and explained to the seemingly disinterested young woman that I needed assistance. She called over a colleague who stared at her phone as we walked toward the product. She pointed to it and began to walk away. I had to repeat that I wasn't familiar with it and needed help selecting the color, etc. her response? She pulled out a tube, suggesting that this was 'probably' right, and left. I figured it out myself and purchased the item from the original, disinterested cashier. I followed up with the manager to express my disappointment in the lack of customer service in her store. Her response was to say she'd 'talk to the staff', offering me no satisfaction whatsoever. Her response was similar to the disinterest of the store employees. I will return to not supporting this company, certainly not the Calabasas location. Good luck to those who don't care about being treated poorly; this is the behavior that gives the community a reputation as snobby. read more

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. Went in to return unused makeup I had bought from Sephora in Sherman Oaks. These girls were not only rude, but super unhelpful. Waited forever to be told I was a few days late and could not return my products. This make-up franchise has gone downhill. Super sad to see the decline. I stopped by yesterday (tuesday) morning. I have specific brands that I like to use for my skin, and I love love love this location so much. First time at this location, but the lady at the front was so nice and made me feel comfortable going inside, and the lady, Courtney(?) was so so friendly and showed me some non-animal tested products and other items that I might be able to use along with the products that she was showing me. I am truly truly grateful for Brian. He gave me not one but two solutions on my 15 year struggles to find an eyeliner that doesn't smudge on my face. All the struggles are gone just like that! I've tried so many eyeliners in my life and felt like I was going no where. At one point, I thought maybe Marc Jacobs' Crayon Eyeliner is best there is but it got discontinued. So Brian gave me two suggestions and I bought both. Slept through the day and no smudge. My husband was surprised. I am like whaaaat?!? I am definitely going back to him to ask him makeup questions. There could be a group of 5 teenagers in that location with backpacks on grabbing who knows what and walking out but I go in and touch one thing and 3 workers asks me if I want a basket. When I'd previously go in with my fiance or was dressed in work attire as opposed to comfy (stylish) sweats ... it was much more of "let us know if you need anything hehehe" ... without my ring on and a bad hair day (hat) ... the same employees asked me (at the register) if I was going to pay for what I put in my pocket. I like this Sephora a lot. It's smaller than most, but I prefer that since it's rarely crowded. Easy parking and accessibility, especially compared to the other Sephora in the Topanga westfield mall. I came in two days ago with my friend. I don't know a lot about makeup and was looking for help and recommendations. Before I went to this store, I tried another cosmetic shop and they made me feel ashamed and embarrassed when I told the workers there that I don't know anything about makeup. Also, I never bought anything because the workers always made me look like a porcelain doll, even though I told them I am looking for natural look. In this particular Sephora, I got the best service ever! This review is not really about the store itself, because it's obvious that all the chain stores have the same products, but it is about the experience. My friend and I got greeted by Angela. Since beginning she was the nicest and sweetest person! I told her what I was looking for, that I want to look natural but cover my red cheeks. She knew exactly what to do! She spent with us at least an hour going all over the store and trying different things. She really made me feel so good and beautiful. Finally, after a month of searching, I purchased cc cream, primer, bronzer and blush and I felt great about it! Be wary of booking any makeup appointments! I had a full face appointment that I booked well in advance of my event. They called me DAY OF my event to cancel. They have a policy where they would charge you if you cancel less than 24 hours in advance. However, be aware that they can cancel on you leaving you in a bind with no other options. They were rude and unprofessional about this. read more

I had my makeup done by Kevin for my husband's engagement party and he did an amazing job on the contouring and eyes. He has a wonderful energy and I had a great time during the entire process. My review is mixed. Not because of the product selection or the store itself. The floor was seemingly well stocked and organized. I had a Sephora gift card given to me and I wanted to spend it. I didn't get that far because I didn't see one person available to help me find things. But I hope the management or employees notice and remember my review next time they're helping a customer... Please be thoughtful when you make observations about a customers skin type. For example saying things like "You must have eczema/rosacea", "your skin looks really dry", "those (zits) are ready to pop", etc Be aware it can come off as rude no matter how you say it and make customers feel even more self conscious and worse about their skin Not everyone's done this, and there's some great employees here. But it's happened enough the last few times that I actually expect it/dread it whenever I go into the skin care section now. The esthetician or employee says something about my skin that makes me feel bad. I know they're just trying to help. I think a better way to help is by ASKING the customer what their skin concerns are, rather than telling them off the bat what you see is wrong with them read more
