I was in this location two weeks ago, got followed around, no make up artists were around to apply eyelashes, and after I voiced my frustration all they did was give me an insincere apology. I apparently was dressed wrong for this store, I went in adidas leggings and a t-shirt and I got started down by two women the entire time. The only person who was sort of kind was the security guard. The store was sort of empty only a few people were there so I thought maybe it was because they had nobody else to look at or something but I felt extremely uncomfortable and after I kept looking back at them, they gave me really pretentious smiles and made me feel uncomfortable, they didn't even offer my any help they just stared at me it was really weird. I usually don't even like going to sephora I prefer to go to Naimie's or Nigel's but I just wanted to take a look since there are fenty products (and we were already walking around here). But I don't think I'm ever going to come here again I'm just gonna stick to my normal make-up stores and hope that this doesn't happen to anybody else. read more

I am a BIG Sephora fan! Needless to say I have been to several all over the country. This one by far has the best staff. I went in one day after a stressful day of work and was trying to fix some eyelash damage due to extensions. There were three staff there and they all gave me amazing input and sent me on my way with the perfect fix. My experience here was nothing exceptional. The two sales girls I encountered were just plain rude. I was looking for someone to help me recommend a product and by no means was I rushing for any help quickly, just inquiring if someone was available to help. When I approached a sales person, she quickly said "I already clocked out" and walked away. The second sales girl was helping another lady, and I simply asked if there was someone available to help. Her response was not only abrupt and rude to dismiss the ask, she replied I can't right now, we're super busy with a nasty attitude. I thought to myself " Wow, is this what customer service has come down to!" At least now I know what you get coming here. Even though I addressed my concern to the manager, it shows the lack of customer service training not with one but two sales representatives in less than 15 minutes of my visit. brick and mortars wonder why they can't stay in business or why online shopping is taking over as many stores close. Ugh. I usually order online because it is more convenient for me, unless I need a quick present- which was the reason for my visit on Mother's Day Weekend. For starters, they opened at least 3 minutes late. I'm not the impatient type but I had a huge catering order in my truck to celebrate my momma so that three minutes wasn't appreciated. The reason I had to tell the world about my experience is because of the service. I asked for a specific gift set that I didn't find on the shelf and was greeted by a shop associate who thought she knew how to help me. I told her what I wanted and she was gone for a while. Certainly longer than it should take to check stock. I've been to Sephora a time or ten hundred, so I knew that items are often stored in a cabinet underneath the display-so I opened it. Inside I found the exact two gift sets that I was looking for, so I grabbed them and held them while I continued to wait for the associate who was trying to find them for me. As she was walking back toward me, she exclaimed that she was sorry as what I was asking for was completely sold out- to which I said "you mean these?" she had a dumbfounded look in her face and even seemed pretry butthurt about it ‍ Had she turned her mistake into something funny- then it might have been laughable- but I highly doubt she even checked wherever she went. Didn't this location just have DIVERSITY TRAINING?! I would have thought that after their "diversity training" last week and after the issue with Sza, this location would step up their customer service with EVERYONE. I was at this location at 2:15pm today (6/11). I walked in, saw 2 female employees working and was not greeted. Not a huge deal but one of those women (short blonde hair, probably 5'5) asked everyone around me if they needed assistance. I didn't make anything of it so I kept browsing the Laura Mercier products. I kept hearing her and seeing her ask other WHITE women if they needed help. I'm a Filipino woman and dressed in business casual attire. I tried to make nothing of it still, and walked around. I went to the IT cosmetics section and looked up. Another employee (brown shoulder length hair and about 5'7) made eye contact TWICE and didn't say anything. She actually turned when she saw me. I thought she was following me so I went to a different area and went back. She saw me again, walked towards me, made eye contact again but didn't do anything and walked away. So at this point, I'm thinking it's gonna be the fact that I'm brown skinned. I go back to the Laura Mercier section and still overhear the same blonde woman ask ppl around me if I need help. I do actually need help but I'm going to ask someone who seems to go out of her way to ask everyone but me! I needed a sample of tinted moisturizer so I walked up to a different employee (who happened to not be white, and was probably 5'1) and she was great. She was nice and quickly able to help me. She even asked if I needed anything else - which I appreciated. I was at the Northridge on Saturday which is much busier. When I was there, I was quickly greeted by someone and asked if I needed help. Today, it took about 12 minutes of employees avoiding me and myself having to approach someone to get some help. The store had less than 10 potential customers while I was there - including myself - but I was the only person not being approached and I was the only person of color. These associates should have greeted everyone regardless of race. This location is definitely losing my business! read more

I went here to get my make up done before attending a wedding and Javaneh exceeded my expectations. I showed the make up artist Javaneh what I wanted my makeup to look like and she went above and beyond that. She was so knowledgeable about all of the products and explained why she was using each one for my skin. I can't recommend her enough I promise you will not regret it. This is my favorite Sephora in all of Southern California! They are so friendly and knowledgeable! I over exfoliated and went in for some advice. The Esthetician Emily was so incredibly helpful! She put me together some samples of products to help me repair my damaged skin. She wrote out a detail regime and sent everything to my email address as well. It's only been a day, and my skin looks 1,000 times better already. I definitely would recommend taking the extra drive to go visit her. She is friendly, fun, and obviously a total expert. I normally hate going to Sephora but this particular store blew me away. I was desperate since I ran out of primer(God forbid the ladies run out) and I grudgingly went into Sephora, especially the Calabasas location. I was floored by how awesome their customer service was. There were about 4 girls & they were so nice and helpful, they didn't follow me around the whole store & annoy me(like most locations do). When I got to the register & they looked up my account they noticed it was my daughter's birthday & they gave me a small gift for her. Most Sephora locations have really bad reviews because of their lack of customer service but this location is just the opposite. They are also not as busy as the other locations such as the ones in the mall, so if you need your makeup done at the last minute this is the location to go to. read more

I came back today and I was impressed. I had a few returns because I had issues with the product (without a receipt) and I was able to return them with no problems. Summary: I initially came in to get a concealer. Took me 10 minutes to find an employee because they were out of the one I needed. A middle aged woman working there opened the bottom drawer, told me they were out (after I had reminded her 3 times which one I was looking for), then walked away. First red flag. I decided to see which others I had purchased in the past to see if those were in stock. So I needed someone to look up my account info. Once I could find someone in the store (that itself took 5 another minutes), she greeted me with a "what's your number or email attached to your account?" without looking up from her phone. I told her, she grabbed the first concealer that popped up on my account, and walked away. I didn't have the heart to tell her I wasn't even looking for that specific concealer but she walked away so fast I wouldn't have been able to anyway. I made it clear I needed help again and again, and no luck. The store had more employees than customers in at the time so I guess they really just don't like helping people. The coldness of the employees I encountered today made me so uncomfortable. Asking for help in this store is like pulling teeth. I asked for help from 3 employees total in the store. None of them made eye contact with me, asked if I needed help, or if I found what I was looking for. (I didn't). I guess being in Calabasas made these women forget they work a customer service job. I frequented this location because of the easy parking but it looks like I'll be shopping at the Topanga Mall from now on. read more

Okay the only reason I gave this place a low rating was because of the service my friends and I got. I come to this store every now and then. I think the location is great! Fantastic parking, plus other stores to check out. The store is always clean, and the staff are always friendly and have a smile on their face. So why did I give them a one star? Well, I don't know if we just came at a really bad time or something but the service we got was very strange indeed. We walk in and find this really nice lipstick by Kat Von D. (Lolita). I had asked one of the girls if they had anymore in stock. She said sadly no and that they were on a 6 month waiting list. I thought 'wow this is really popular' and was getting ready to walk away when my friend opened up one of the bottom drawers and found the Lolita lipstick we were looking to buy. Another staff member saw us and, with a rude tone, asked if she could help us. (friend opens drawer and finds lipstick) Staff: Can I help you?? My friend: Yes are these here for sale too? (pointing at lipstick) Staff: Yes they are. What can I help you with? (remember...she is saying this in a rude tone...) My friend: Oh these are the lolita lipsticks and we'd like to buy these. Staff: (Takes the lipsticks from my friend) No, we are all sold out. Now she's telling this to us AS SHES HOLDING THE LIPSTICKS IN HER HAND. We would understand if it was on reserve, but she didn't say that. So we just left. Like I said. I love this store but this service was beyond strange. We ended up finding the lipsticks online so there was a happy ending. read more

I love this Sephora so much. I've always received great service whenever I went in. The employees fully care when they answer my questions. They also know what they're saying, when it comes to skincare and makeup recommendations, and how to use specific products. Frances is so sweet and I love bumping into her at Sephora. She even remembers specific things about me and cares to ask how everything's going. Or if I buy a certain product, she cares to ask how it's working out for me. Very mixed feelings here, and it's related to the older sales associates here. I get that this location is next door to a movie theater, so they get a ton of teens and young women just window shopping and testing a lot of product - I've seen it for myself. But the problem is that they treat all potential customers as time wasters or don't help you at all. I went in here looking for products I needed for work, and the sales associate that wasn't behind the register was tied up helping 13 or 14 yr olds try on foundation. I went in to this Sephora on the afternoon of New Year's Eve to get some help with foundation. Lindsay helped me right away. She showed me a primer I could use before applying the foundation, and she found a much better color and more moisturizing foundation for me. She also showed me some techniques for better application. She also introduced me a setting spray that left my skin looking dewy. The help and information I received today was excellent. There were a lot of other customers in the store, and I was able to receive undivided attention from Lindsay. The check out process was also great. Back in April, I had my makeup appointment for prom. I was very hesitant about this because I've heard some bad experiences at Sephora. I was greeted kindly by Miriam, who did my makeup that day. I felt very comfortable and relaxed. I told her exactly what I wanted to be done for prom, and she definitely did an amazing job. Although they say it's a forty-five minute appointment, it's more like an hour. Maybe it was just me, but I was not aware that I had to pay extra for false eyelashes. Never asked me to come in and talk just stood there yelling even after I offered to show her where the item was in the store. She said " don't come back to this location " *like I EVER would* but quite frankly being VIB rouge and spending thousands upon thousands in that store how dare she accuse me of taking something probably worth less than 20$. This is my favorite Sephora in the area! It's a surprisingly spacious store so you never feel like you're being shuffled and jostled around by other shoppers. This Sephora in the Commons may have a smaller selection of products than the Sephora in the Westfield Topanga mall but I still prefer to come to this one!
