The staff is super nice and very helpful, but it can be hard to track someone down for help when they are swamped. They have a huge selection of make up, skin care, and hair care products. I love the south coast location. Everything is always organized and there are more than enough sales people to help at any given time. Although the lines are long at the register, customers move through rather quickly. Probably because one would get caught up in collecting last minute cosmetics while in line. There are an abundance of must haves like, blotting papers, mini lip glosses, two for one mascara, etc. Brilliant way to add to sales, Sephora! I'm not complaining. Also, ask for Sal! He's knowledgable and funny. He helped me find a new Japanese mascara that will help restore my lashes from being thrashed by two years of eyelash extensions. I've had my fair share of snobby workers at this Sephora. I get it, it's retail, you're on your feet all day and want to go home. However, this review is based on my most recent experience. Came in around 9:30pm during the weekday - barely anyone in there (awesome!) I was immediately greeted with a hello and smile. I already knew what I wanted to get (for gifts) so I grabbed them, walked around and browsed the new items. I bought a Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer last month but I felt like the color was too pale on me. One of the girls there strip matched me in my neck and actually was also showing one of the new girls how to do it. She was very professional and nice. Wish I remembered her name! Anyways, she said I was able to bring it back to exchange, which I did the very next day. I will be returning to this Sephora and hope ask my experiences will be like that one. read more

Oooooohhh thank you Sephora!!! Ok, so I was ready for a full make-up regimen overhaul. I threw all the old stuff out and was ready to spend hundreds on updating my make up bag. I made the mistake of going to Ulta first (there is one right by my house). Worst experience ever, they tried to sell me skin care (when i just told them I had spend $200 last week on new skin care products) when what I asked for was primer, bb cream, powder, etc. I walked right out of there and went to Sephora. OLIVE was the best!! She listened to my needs, gave me lots of helpful feedback, educated me on several different products, and gave me options to choose from. Whenever it's time for new foundation I always try to go into Sephora and have them do my makeup. $50 min purchase which we all know is easy to do! I decided to do it on the day of my engagement party. I made a reservation for 1pm figuring it would be plenty of time for me to go home, change and head off in our party bus. I arrived at 5min before my appointment and was told my stylist would be in right at 1pm and to go look at the lashes section since I wanted to add them into my look. I was finally sat 15min later. I will admit I was annoyed but tried not to let that affect me since it was going to be such a fun night. My stylist, Jennifer E, started my appointment 20min later... She first started with asking my skin type: very dry! She started to explain what moisturizer and toner she was using as they all do but what really stood out was that she noticed I was taking interest in all the products and asking why she was using this instead of something else. She was VERY knowledgeable and knew what to use and took the time to actually explain them. I purchased a NARS foundation months ago from another beauty appointment and never used it after because I thought it was too light. She (Jen) used a lighter NARS on me and I brought up my concern. She explained that it darkens and in fact should be put on in a certain way. I ended up purchasing many products and went home to use the NARS I had at home. This along with the oil based primer she used has really helped my skin! It's not drying it out and I've received several compliments the past few weeks on my skin both with and without makeup. This is for the MAKEUP FOREVER room/area ONLY (but I'm also a fan of the entire Sephora store as well) MAKEUP FOREVER is an amazing brand of makeup. I went into get a refill of the HD foundation and wanted to get color matched just in case because the last time I had gotten a foundation I had been pretty tan (it was summer last time). The sales girl that helped me did an amazing job taking time to consult with my needs, match the right shade of foundation for me, as well as finish my whole face in the right color so that I didn't leave the store looking like my skin was a bunch of different colors. She even demonstrated for me a creme blush and other products that I was interested in and I ended up buying a couple of other things. She did a great job showing me how to use each product, did a thorough job of telling me about each product, how to use it, and how to apply it. There are only 3 or 4 MAKEUP FOREVER extensions to Sephora and they're in Vegas at the Venetian, SoHo, and South Coast Plaza. Maybe one more, but I think that that was all. All of their products were on display, there were stations to try the makeup and where their makeup artists were helping and demonstrating the products to people. Workers are really friendly and helpful, they aren't annoying at all, once they ask "Do you need help finding anything?" and you say no they leave you alone! I love not getting bugged with I'm shopping! I've never had a bad experience there and everytime I go I end up having a conversation with the worker. I love this Sephora location. They are so organized in how they assist customers. They have a waitlist for getting help from one of their "beauty experts" which is nice because you can shop around instead of standing and waiting to be helped. There are a lot of people working at the location so there is always someone to find to help you and the check out line is never long and always moves fast. This is a large location with all different brands, products, and a makeup forever studio :) This is my favorite Sephora and definitely recommend them! read more

I love Sephora! Even when I don't really need anything I walk in there and find something I would want! They carry various brands and depending on what you buy the prices can get pretty high. They also put in a whole nail polish section with tons of different shades. Their new magnetic nail polish is pretty cool. You paint your nails with two coats and use the magnet on the cap to get the design. I've only tried the gray/gunmetal colored one. The color alone without using the magnet is already pretty. Right now during the holidays, they have a gift wrapping station where someone will wrap your gift for you. The store is usually not too crowded, but since it's the holidays, there's been a lot more people in the store and it's harder to get help. read more

First of all, RUDE. I was looking at moisturizers with no particular interest when an employee comes up to me and starts explaining the different types. She's asks me what skin type I am, to which I reply I'm not sure. She then proceeds to REACH UP TO TOUCH MY FACE saying she's going to FEEL WHAT SKIN TYPE I AM. THIS was EXTREMELY out of line. Why?? And How?? Why would anyone think this is okay under any circumstances? Not only am I extremely uncomfortable with people touching my face, like i don't even touch my own face ???? because i know how unhygienic it is??????? I don't even like makeup but I love coming to this store! It turns me into the proverbial kid in a candy shop there's so much good stuff and so many pretty things... Perfume, skin care, lotions, soaps, brushes, hair styling tools... They have pretty much every brand of beauty care you could come up with and the staff is always nice and always accommodating to the customers. They'll talk you through any thing you need and take a lot of time to show you the products and make sure you understand and get the best thing for you. For the Make Up Forever store inside Sephora, I rate it 5 stars. Everyone in the Make Up Forever store is amazing and always super helpful. Its really fun talking to anyone on the MUFE side. They have a huge array of products, and they are well stocked. As for the general Sephora store, the service is regular. It's not especially good here, but they offer brands and products here that they don't have at other Sephora locations. Because it's a busy store, it is usually PACKED and items are regularly sold out here. I'm writing a review for the exceptional customer service I received today. It was absolutely packed (Saturday afternoon at South Coast, duh) this afternoon when I went into Sephora to exchange a bronzer that made my face look dirty (ew). The hustle and bustle didn't stop the employees from providing great customer service today. I was looking for a cool toned bronzer light enough for my fair skin. A nice lady walked me to two separate ones. I ended up getting both since it was so hard to decide. Then, another nice guy walked over to me and asked if I needed anything. He gave his opinion on a product that I ended up buying as well. THEN I got great customer service at the cash register too. Great job Sephora! Items are always in stock when I've come in and needed something! Other locations either have one sales associate ringing up customers, are out of stock on items or simply do not carry the brand you're looking for. I've never had a problem here out of the bajillion times I have been here! Customer service is great no matter how crowded it gets! There are tons of sales associates checking out so that you don't have to wait long in line. Sales associates are always willing to help you out and give you suggestions. I love this store. The selection is great. There are so many brands. It is so easy to spend a lot of time here checking everything out. I had to take one star off because of the staff. They used to be more helpful. I could get more samples and better color matching. The last few times I was here I was recommended products in the wrong shade. I questioned it and was told it was my color but I had to exchange it after 2 days. Thankfully they have a real easy return policy. But I would rather not return things. I wish the sales associates were more attentive and took more time to get the right shade selection. Every time I walk into this store they are friendly greeting me. I went to Sephora on a Saturday like around 630ish and it was somewhat busy. I was there maybe for about 45 mins and I got help maybe and I got help once I have decided to just come another day. Nobody came up to me to ask if I needed help. At first I took my old make up out to compare color tones with other brands and some probably thought I was loading my bag with the new product lol. I went in with hardly any make up to try out new products but nobody cared to help. Will go again on a slow day MAYBE that will make a difference. Ick....I always forget why I stopped shopping at Sephora, but today's visit reminded me why. I was enticed by the 15% off VIB sale and had to pick up something I forgot to get at ULTA when they sent me my 20% off platinum coupon (which I get at least 3 times a year!). The store is packed and crowded which I anticipated, but my encounter at checkout is what really made this visit comical. I told the mobile checkout girl (Yonghuang or something?) that I had SCP Gift Certificates and she insisted she could help me. Ooookay I know she can't but I went anyways. Once I showed her, she gave an awkward "ohhhh yeah...can't take it. Go back in line." Lol rude. So I get back to the front and when next register is open I get cut off by a rude girl who insisted I should've been in the back. Instead of accommodating me, since I was the one who had ALREADY been inconvenienced, they made ME wait for another register. I was so irritated by how they spoke to me, since they were very rude and condescending. When I mentioned they need to work on the customer service, the girl working next to Ayana just stared at me. It's fine, the girl who barged ahead clearly needed makeup more than I did. I know they can do price adjustments with just the receipt since all the UPC codes are listed but they wanted me to go get all my products, which was about 5 lbs of product to carry in addition to having my baby with me. I love Sephora. I have always had the best experience at a Sephora store. They are so knowledgeable on the products. I don't really wear makeup but focus more on skincare. Cova and Ana had an answer to all of my skincare questions and were able to relate them in a way that I would understand. Cova even gave me specific instructions on the best way to apply the cream and why this way was better. I was every happy to find out that they price match. I was able to get an eye cream from Lancome for the black Friday price. That really made my day. At checkout An was wearing an avocado pin. I complemented her pin and asked where she got it. She said that it was given to her at work. I told her that me and my boyfriend LOVE Avocado. She asked if I would like her pin. I told her that I didn't want to her pin, but she insisted. I asked to get matched to a foundation to wear on my wedding day, I usually am really good at buying the correct color without help but this was going to be for my wedding so I wanted it to be perfect. Well my skin tone is tan/olive with a warm/ yellow undertone but was matched to a pink and cool tone foundation, seriously?!I had to return it and was told I couldn't get my $$ back since I was matched and needed to spend over $50 so I could only exchange, yet no one told me about this $50 minimum for getting matched to a foundation. read more

I think they hired a lot of new staff ,and it seems like it is their first time working in a huge makeup store. They seem overwhelmed. I know Sephora has had 2 major events, VIB and this extra points on perfume so one would think they would have better organization. They have too much staff at the registers and not enough floor people. The floor cast members seem to be running around like Chickens with their head's cut off, trying to help the over abundance of people. The wait time is way too long to get a simple color match , so make an appt. There was a manager or assistant manager,named Will, he was really on it! He knew when every new brand was releasing new products, LE etc.. My understanding is that he is not there anymore. They really need him back or more employees like him. No one knows anything about releases anymore. They sold the LE Natasha Denona Sunlit ,palette too early. Now they do not know if they will get it back. Sales lady is friendly and helpful but the make up artist is very rude. My teenage daughter just spent $ 120 for lip gloss and she wanted ro put it on right away. We were standing by the make up station so we can use the mirror. This "make up artist" asscused my daughter for the trash on the floor. The Art of Deception Makeup is the female species way of deceiving men just like how the Wonderbra does wonders to deceive men into thinking they are not from the Itty Bitty Titty Club. With that said, I absolutely love Sephora! Sephora is any girl's makeup heaven, and whenever I am there, I go crazy like a fat kid in a candy store. I don't think men actually realize why women love this place so much. Reasons why I love Sephora over the makeup counters in department stores: -The wide, open and unrestrictive selection of different name brands and makeup products (makeup, skincare and hair products/tools and fragrances) -You can explore, experiment and play to your heart's content without the pressure of pushy commission sales rep -Friendly staff and associates who are very helpful and knowledgeable -You can get a free makeup session for a special occasion by a professional makeup artist, just by purchasing a $50 gift card (that you can use to purchase whatever you want at a later time). It says 60 minutes, but my free session was 90 mins. -They have the Beauty Insider's Rewards program where points accumulate every time you shop that can be used towards deluxe samples or gifts. They also send you gifts for your birthday and special discounts other times of the year. (I have 1500 points. That just means I spend way too much there. haha) Lastly.... *Drum roll* Sephora can really transform an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan!! Makeup can really mask imperfections while enhancing other features. (You can even use bronzer to create the illusion of cleavage!) Have you seen celebrities without makeup or woke up next to a hot girl you met at the bar the previous night? Frightening experience isn't it?
