Sephora is to appearance-savvy girls what a candy store is to fat kids. I'm not being a hater --- I love coming here and browsing for what seems like hours. I mean, c'mon, everyone's got something they need help with, right? Under-eye circles, boring lipstick, desperate need of a makeover? Well, Sephora is your one-stop shopping solution to all the beauty ailments you could think of. I usually go to the one at the Promenade but this location seems to have a larger selection (including lots of exclusive products). Pull out one of my bathroom drawers and what do you see? A huge bag of makeup, a complete set of makeup brushes, different shades of pretty eyeshadow, a couple bottles of makeup remover, a bottle of brush cleaner...you get the point. I have a lot of crap relating to makeup. But I have a confession - a year ago, I had none of that. Hell, I didn't even wear foundation! I had no clue how to use eyeliner, let alone do a smoky eye with different colors. I was intimidated by makeup, afraid I would screw up and look like Bozo the Clown. What caused this transformation? This particular Sephora. I blame it for my makeup addiction. I needed a new look. One that looked polished enough for work but sexy and fun enough to go out. I wanted to look like I wasn't wearing much makeup at all and have it be super easy to apply. And obviously, I needed help. The salespeople here are very helpful and definitely know their stuff. The girl I got was a makeup artist studying nearby and explained every step of the dolling up process to me - from how to use concealer and where to put bronzer to which brush I should use for what purpose. She was informative, not pushy at all on getting a sale and exactly what I needed to be confident in my skills. Therefore, I highly suggest this Sephora branch to people - if you're just looking for tips or a new look, this is definitely the place to go! It's been a while since I've been to Sephora but my experience tonight doesn't make me want to return. No one walked up to greet me or came up to ask if I needed anything. The employees acted like they didn't want to be bothered when I did ask for help and certainly didn't want to sell me anything as I was brushed off. The cashier seemed to have a bit of an attitude and no one in this store was friendly. When I drop this over $120 on two makeup items I would like some assistance and a smiling face at least. Don't ask me how I walked out of there $100 poorer with just three items that fit in a bag the size of the palm of my hand. worset coustomer service!!! I went to Beverly Center locatian today around 2 pm,needed to buy a full make up line. No sales pepole approched to offer any help, so I wait 5-10 minutes hoping one would care enough to ask if any help is needed, so I found a lady at perfume section to help me she said she is only working at perfume section so will call for help which is understadable. She calls another lady and shows me to her, so i am waiting , she comes passes me like being invisible and helps another customer. The lady at perfume section saw it and told her that I have been waiting for a long time, she completly ignored me again and did something else without saying anything and did other things no words were exchanged between us. After 45 minutes of waiting for some help,being ignored, I thougth I would never want that unproffessinal unkind person help me also I don't want to support this company at all. read more

I have never been as badly treated at a store as I have been by this Sephora. I came here for the first time a couple of months ago. I like to look around pretty quickly at things, but that's only because I look at products online so I know exactly what I want to look at when I come in. The moment I walked in I had about 2 securities following me around as well as the whole fucking staff glaring me down. I asked for help 5 to 6 times only because I needed help finding a concealer, and they just kept telling me to wait. No one helped me after 2 hours of being in there, so I decided to buy what I came in for and leave. I don't know why I do things, but I fucked up and went back there again last Saturday. Just planning to get some of my basic products such as mascara, eyebrow pencil, etc. But I got curious with foundations since I had been thinking about switching. Dude, every mf in there was staring at me like I was stealing everything I looked at. 1 security breathing down my fucking neck. All the employees were following me around and purposely coming over to my area, I grabbed what I needed and asked for help. The girl only had 2 recommendations to give me, and kept making me feel like I was a dick for even daring to switch foundations and asking for help. She was so mean. I got a sample since I wasn't so convinced about her recommendations. The second girl I asked was acting dumb. I had to rephrase myself 3 times because she was purposely pretending like I wasn't making sense. Like girl, all I asked for was recommendations on foundations for oily skin. This Sephora is terrible. These people don't want to help you unless you look a certain way (cough cough if you know what I mean, aka I'm Latina SOOOO). Terrible customer service!! Funny thing is when I come in here I come here to SPEND! Don't let my bare face fool you, boo, cus it's only bare to sample shit! + ALSO, I'm easily convinced. This is exactly why I like the Grove better. The girls are much nicer, and although the store is usually packed and they're under pressure, they still take the time to recommend even more than one product. DO NOT COME HERE. I came to Sephora with my girlfriend to buy Christmas gifts, and they had a great selection of gift sets. Amongst the lines and rows of boyfriends standing around with hands in their pockets pretending to seem interested, the staff were ever vigilant and cordial to the Black Friday customers bombarding them with questions and item issues. The register line was quick and they bagged our gift with speed and efficiency and eloquence. Although the bag was probably 3x larger than needed it was the thought that counted. Like a playground for women! Huge selection, testers of everything. The good: you can shop and be left alone for the most part as you play. Sales associated will come up to you, but they will not hard sell you or offer advice if not asked for. The bad: hygiene. This isn't something sephora can really control, but I routinely see people using lip gloss brushes and lipstick directly on their mouths, so even if you q-tip it, you're still using contaminated lip makeup. Gross. The team at Sephora ranges a lot in terms of their knowledge. Some know very little about makeup and skin care, and some are really informed. Take it all with a graijn of salt though, and really check out product reviews. I consult my esthetician before buying their stuff and she always steers me right! read more

I'm only reviewing this because it was hard not to share the story with the cash register girl. Sephora definitely has legit products for guys...a huge selection of cologne and hair/gel/pomade products. Guys have to get these products somewhere, so might as well be this place since the customer service is usually great. For that, I give this place 5 stars. But really, can they please hire people at the register that are quick and can count? I bought "Dirt" and the total came to $15.04 (or something around there). I gave the girl a $20 and a dime, but she overlooked the change on the counter and proceeded with entering $20 flat in the register. When I slipped the dime closer to her, she said she couldn't do anything about it because the money was already in the system. With a confused look, I told her she can give me back $5.04 (or whatever amount it was) instead because I didn't want a bunch of change. She then proceeded to say, which was flat-out lying to me, that she couldn't take the change because it's already in the system and it would mess up her count for the day! I reassure her that she is incorrect in telling me this and that her register would be accurate (unless she gave incorrect change to another customer, and believe me, I wouldn't be surprised if her register was $100 off). In any case, she then says she's really bad at math and doesn't know what to do. I tell her, "give me $5.04 and that will equal everything out." By now, the woman behind me can't help but smile because this total conversation has already taken about 2-3 minutes. I reassure her again that I'm not trying to trick her, I'm decent at math, and the correct change to give me is $5.04. She reluctantly gives me the money and asks me with an attitude if I wanted a bag. I say no only because she would've tried to papercut my hand with it. So all in all, Sephora has good products, good customer service ON THE FLOOR, but fail to hire people at the register that are honest, can count accurately, or at the very least, get a calculator when they don't know the answer to something. For that, they get 1 star...averaging a 3 in total. read more

Love this Sephora! Located inside the Beverly Grove next to Macy*s. Place is clean and organized. They also have a full stock of all the make up! Ones that are usually sold out in Sephora stores here in the Valley. Place does not get packed at all so this is the store to be if you're in the area and do not like waiting. Came here yesterday with my mom to let her choose anything for mothers day (she had a nice list) and i had a few things as well to get. Never in my life did i feel so ignored. Not one employee greeted or asked if we needed help even though we scrolled through quite a lot of isles and made it to the very back. My favorite lipstick from Nars color Shiap melted while being left in my car. I was so devastated I went to the nearest Sephora which was the one at the bervely center. I went in there and noticed they didnt have the color I was looking for. I asked the lady who worked there if they had the color Shiap from Nars and she said to me that the color was DISCONTINUED... I was very sad and dissapointed. This bright pink color Shiap was my favorite color. It was the color lipstick I wore when ever I went out. She recommended I buy another color that was pink. I bought it and I was not happy about my purchase. I spent a lot of money after that buying all kinds of pink lipsticks that matched that color. I had still saved the melted Shiap from Sephora and I sometimes stuck my finger in the tube to get any of the color. Anyways I was on a business trip to Vegas and I happen to walk in the Barneys at the fashion show mall. Some lady removed all my makeup after applying creams to my face. She just didnt convince me about the creams. So I ended having no make up on my face so I decided to lie to the people selling the makeup at Barneys that I wanted to buy a blush just so that they can apply it. I told them I was not interested in theyre product and that I wanted to try a lipstick now. As we were walking towards the NARS counter I noticed that my lipstick Shiap was there. What!!!! after all this time my lipstick was never discontinued??I asked the lady if she had the color available and she said yes. She said that the color was never discontinued and that the color was a very good seller. I was so angry for spending all my money on lipsticks that I didnt need and my lipstick the one I wanted was always there. Its not nice for someone to lie about a product just to sell you something else. I cannot shop at Sephora ever again. read more

I would say this is one of the best experiences I've ever had a Sephora. Let's just say I met a very sweet knowledgeable and pleasant beauty make up artist by the name of Sadie. She answered all my questions, showed me different techniques on how to highlight my cheeks and eyes. She helped suggest different mascaras that would fit my eye shape and lashes. We shared some beauty secrets. I felt like I knew her forever cause I couldn't stop talking to her. I'm glad to of come across her and learn so much. She's great and so down to earth. She stayed with me till the end to make sure I got all my questions answered. How amazing!!! I will recommend this location and Sadie to all the future Sephora shoppers. read more

I went here on a sleepy Wednesday afternoon; you would think it would have been simple. However, I had a question about a skincare product. I approached 4 different people for help before I finally set my products down and walked out. Employee # 1 - "Sorry, I'm on break." Employee # 2 - "I don't know about skincare. Ask that lady (pointing)." Employee # 3 - Just walks off the floor after helping the person in front of me. Employee # 4 - "Do you need help?" Then just keeps filling her sample jars after I told her my question. (It really wasn't that complicated!) Employee # 5 was at the register and saw #4's lack of response, but just stood there looking. I walked out. I'll take the Pasadena location any day. I feel like the service at places like this has a tendency to be slow or impersonal but this Sephora was so great. I came in looking for a new foundation - I'm usually a drugstore makeup person but I wanted to treat myself and my skin to something of a higher quality. I came in and found a color specialist who spent like 30 minutes helping me find the perfect shade of foundation and concealer. Then they showed me how to correctly use a beauty blender and gave me a free sample of an enzymatic peel for my dry skin! Great experience. read more

The five stars are for Robert, the Senior Makeup Artist at this location. He is beyond talented, not to mention beyond kind. I took my mother here two days after Thanksgiving when the Grove was beyond crowded, however Robert made us feel that we were the only two women in the store. The time he took with my mother was so generous, making sure she understood each product, what it did, and how to apply it. He never pressured her to buy anything and he worked with the makeup she already had. After watching him work, I will never step foot inside another big department store again to buy makeup. He's fabulous. I hope Sephora appreciates what a find they got in this man. read more

I normally do all of my Sephora shopping online but on the rare occasions I need to go into a store, this is the one I go to. The staff here is super friendly and everyone is usually pretty generous with the samples. It's a fairly large location and is always clean and bright. Unlike the Hollywood and Highland Sephora, there is no obnoxiously overwhelming smell of perfumes competing to give me a migraine here. Sephora in any form is awesome but as far as stores go (at least in LA) this one is the best. read more

Sephora never disappoints. I returned a used eyebrow gel without the box and receipt or the original packing and they gave me back store credit. That's fantastic.
