So I went to Sephora to dispute something that happened mid last month. After doing my accounting and going through my receipts, I realized that this place has charged my credit card not once or twice but three times for 1 item. I would've taken care of this right away but life happens. I hesitated at first but after I had a conversation with my thoughts and memory. , I was convinced I am right to dispute such as. It's the principle I was after. I went and I expressed my concerns. The supervisor listened carefully. She too had her spiel and I agreed. She explained she has to check their camera and to replay the day of my purchase. I said fine. I can hang out for a bit and await her findings. She came back and informed me their camera was not clear enough to counter act my dispute. She agreed to refund my credit card. I was very pleased with the results. No extra anything to justify. I made a promise to myself to not rush out of there any time. I should make the time to check my receipts with my purchases at all times. I do come here all the time. This is a good lesson guys. Why do they bother asking you to select your free sample when ordering online? They never send the right thing -- just whatever random samples are lying around, it seems. Very frustrating! This is about shopping online -- not the Lynnwood store, but they don't make it easy to send a message to customer service, and I"m not going to sit in a phone queue to complain about a free sample. Randolyn is a very skilled and experienced make up artist. She did my makeup for my engagement shoot and wedding. I booked online and was paired with Randolyn. Being a woman of color, I was nervous about getting my makeup done for my shoot without a trial. Randolyn made me feel reassured and comfortable. She asked questions about what I was imagining and looked over my pinterest ideas. She catered the makeup to my facial structure and skin tone. Each time she did my makeup I have felt absolutely beautiful.  My skin looked natural and fresh in every photo, and the look lasts all day. She is very experienced with different skin types and shades. No caking and no gray scale. I felt stunning and she is the one to thank! read more

Went in looking for something I hadn't tried before, so I had some questions. A nice associate said she would send someone over. Waited. No one came. She then came over and offered to help and did a great job. But after a few minutes someone was talking to her on her earpiece and then she excused herself. I figured she would come back. 2 minutes later, she's helping another customer. Did I take too much of her time? Clearly, she was told to move on. Then, another associate appeared and started describing how fantastic a particular moisturizer was. Um, I was never shopping for moisturizer. I went in one weekday a few months ago and the store was pretty empty, none of the sales people asked me if I needed help or even acknowledged my presence. I had to go back a few days later to exchange an item and at the register I was told I owed them a penny, weird , but ok, I looked for a penny but didn't have one. The cashier asked the manager to help as I thought it would be ridiculous to charge my credit card a penny! On an even exchange, the manager said maybe because it was a different store , I got the item right here! Maybe because it was a while ago, no it was less than a week ago! I reserved a women's perfume kit that would allow my girlfriend to sample perfumes then go to sephora and get the one she liked most. I picked it up and realized they had given me the wrong one the next day. They gave me the cologne set. When I called to get it sorted out, they told me they were now sold old and the best option was to use the samples they had then buy a $70 gift card and she could do it that way. They didn't even have all samples and expected me to pay the same price as the set. Extremely upset that their mistake comes at my cost. Staff is not helpful. read more

This is the closest Sephora to me but not my favorite. Unfortunately service is very dependent on who is working. I have gone in and received excellent service some days. Above and beyond. Other days the service is rude. I don't know if there is only one manager but the one who helped me was unpleasant to deal with. One time she held a staff meeting right in front of the windows that went past their opening time, and when she opened the doors to let in the people waiting for an extra 15 minutes she didn't apologize and had an attitude. Some of the employees are not well versed on store policy and can have attitude when explaining things as well. I am not one to write bad reviews but Sephora is such a popular store I think it's helpful to provide accurate feedback about particular locations. Well, they didn't have what I was looking for, but they were extraordinarily helpful-- looked up comparable items on the computer, and showed me to the area where I could locate similar products. Also, my young daughter was with me and (despite my warnings not to do so) put on an awful lot of sample makeup. They were patient with her and kind enough to lend us a couple of makeup wipes. I will NEVER go back to this store. Within 5 minutes of being in this store I had an employee approach me to tell me I could not open the drawer to see if they had any products that were sold out on the top shelf. I had another employee tell me I could not carry the items I was purchasing in the top cup holder of the stroller. I had watched another employee snatch a TESTER out of another customers hand and tell her she can't touch it. Then had the manager approach me and tell me my 4 year old who is not required ANYWHERE else to wear a mask, had to wear a mask I told her I will leave the store then and it was ridiculous how many times I have been approached in the 5 minutes I had been in the store and that they need to post THE ENTIRE list of ridiculous rules they have on the front window. She then told me they have a sign that says masks are mandatory and I said it also does not state an age limit and if your store rules are different from the malls rules, meaning a store inside a store, then it should be posted. I literally felt like I was not welcomed not 1 employee was friendly the rules are obsurd and I felt attacked by vultures it was so freaking ridiculous. read more

I kept putting off this review until I had scheduled some in-store services, but I've just been too busy and it can wait for an update if I ever do. I usually visit this location every few weeks to either restock an empty or pick up something new and redeem my Sephora Play! box subscription points. Unfortunately this location is tiny compared to the stores I used to visit and it either doesn't have the inventory space or sales to stock more luxury brands I'd like to see in person before I purchase. Sephora is always good about returns though so if you do end up ordering something offline and need to take it back it's easy enough to do so. The line for the counter are almost always long when I shop but it moves quickly enough. Because this location is on the smaller side, the store layout is very cramped and you will spend a decent amount of your time wiggling between people or waiting to get access to what you're looking for while you're browsing. The sales associates have always been very helpful when I've engaged them, but I do usually have to catch eye contact or find someone. I have gotten more excellent product suggestions here than duds, and some very generous samples when I've asked too. read more

Mirror mirror on the wall ...how many Sephora products are slathered on my face? When it comes to foundation or really anything that requires color matching I am not a huge fan of drugstore products. I prefer to head into Sephora where I can have one of the representatives match me or sample the products to make sure they're a good fit. They also have a great return policy which I take advantage of since I change my mind more than I care to admit! I wouldn't recommend getting your makeup professionally done here since a lot of their employees do not have any actual certifications. But I think it's a fun place to go if you're a girly girl and you like to sample different things and are looking to spend some money on a new look! read more

Heaven on Earth? Yes. It's my happy place (besides Disneyland). I was introduced to Sephora about 10 years ago in Florida...I started using Dior Show mascara. I couldn't afford all the things I wanted so I would reply on Xmas and Bday gift cards to purchase everything I wanted. The store is pricy...but the thing I LOVE is...if you aren't happy with a product you can return it. I haven't done it very many times in 10 years...but when I've had to...it's been hassle free. I wish there was a Sephora up north...because the only downside is that I never get to the Alderwood Mall. The other great thing about the store is that you can try everything before you buy it...and if you don't know how to use it there are plenty of staff to assist you. If you ate VIB, or if you purchase a $50 gift card you can get free makeovers. They keep track of all your colors and likes/ dislikes and make a profile for you so that if you forget what you normally get, they can look it up. You also earn points for free items. You can order online, get free shipping, etc. This store has always had friendly, helpful employees. They also offer free classes on Sundays that teach you different make up techniques. I always recommend finding someone whose makeup you like to help you. But they ate all pretty knowledgeable. Today I exchanged a mascara that I bought in June that the handle broke on. I was unable to use it. They allowed me to get a new one. (I wish I could've gotten here sooner). read more

Another cashier assisted 3 people and right as I got to the front of the line to pay, she left the register to join the other assistants standing around fiddling with their keys. The main Sephora store at Alderwood Mall. This location carries a lot of different brands and products on their shelves and a lot to explore and try out, and purchase of course. This past weekend, I had a great customer service experience. One of the sales gals in the floor was super down to earth, sweet, helpful, and happy to provide me with information and a product sample. I'm happy because experiences like this aren't guaranteed at Sephora and are hit and miss. It's really important for me to try skin care before I buy and it's a relief when sales people understanding and respect that. Store was very busy when we came in. It was also 15 mind before closing. Just wanted a couple samples but it was hard to find any employees. Seemed a bit understaffed that evening. I finally tracked down Hannah and she told me about they keep track of the samples that they give out now on your BI account. Genius! This is SO great to hear being that I'm sure most people forget what they've been given. It will also help prevent those from continuing to abuse the system by getting the same samples over and over so they don't have to pay. Wish they had this when I worked for the company! Thank you for your help, Hannah! I noticed there were A LOTTTT of testers that were completely empty. We live 2 hours away from Sephora and I would hope that the testers of the products I drove all that way to see had an adequate amount of product left. So I love the actual store and every product and brands it carries however today I had a rather unpleasant experience with one of the girls working today. Just a heads up (it'll make sense later on in my review); I tend to get foundation that's just a few shades darker than my normal skin tone because I like to look a bit more bronze and my concealer and powder usually helps even it out and make it lighter. I often find that shades of foundation that match my skin perfectly make me look washed out so that's why I opt for a few shades darker... So, I was shopping for my cousin for a late Christmas present and decided to pick up a few samples of some products I heard raving reviews about. The Marc Jacobs Re(Marc)able Foundation. I chose a foundation a few shades darker for that very reason I told y'all before. I'm waiting for a while for someone to come over and give me the samples, even though it was not busy what so ever, and finally one girl approaches me. As I was waiting next to her patiently, I am talking to my friend about makeup and different products I recommend. And I do know a lot of makeup so I'm just giving some recommendations to my friend. While I'm talking to my friend, this girl, interrupts us and says "Is this foundation sample for you?" And I obviously replied yes, very confused. So she then proceeds to say "This is like 7 shades darker than your skin. Like literally this is the color I use when I'm at my darkest fake tan." While she was saying this, she literally was giving me the stank eye look, like staring me down with such disgust that you would think that I'm wearing a bunch of trash bags full of garbage or like, fucking have a toe growing out of my eyeball or some shit. So I reply to her super damn awkwardly because she's judging me so hard, (by the way, I also usually get really tan naturally so), "Well I like it darker. Lighter foundation washes me out. I know how to do makeup lol" And she's just like Okayyyy. Like bishhh, I know my shit, give me my damn sample, I didn't ask you to try to declare my race, I asked you to fill a plastic tube with some foundation so don't try to have the nerve and judge me honey. I don't like to write low star reviews for Sephora because I wholeheartedly support them and love their products. But the messiness of this store should not be ignored. The nail bar looks like teenagers raid it on the daily (they probably do!) but there has to be a way to better maintain it..and then they are usually low in stock in the items I need. I keep coming back here because I am addicted to makeup. I can spend two hours here and not know the time. This location is not the best but it is the closest to my house. At first, the employees were very nice and helpful but then when they found out I am not a beginner at makeup, they stopped helping me find items and always have an angry look on their face. I literally shop here every two days, I would think they could be a bit nicer to their returning customers; especially that often. I had a girl give me a mini makeup makeover because they didnt have time for a full one, and I asked her to do eyeliner on me because that is an area I struggle in and she did such a bad job. After I said I didnt really like it, she said "well, that is all I can do, the 15 minutes is up". Come on, I asked a "professional" to show me how to do eyeliner and she does a mediocre job and tells me she needs to go. Not the best experience. They did get more associates in the store because of a known loss of products in the store but those associates are so buggy. I can't even put something on without them breathing down my neck. I know it's hard preventing loss of products but don't turn away your current customers because of the ones who steal. I love this store overall, don't get me wrong. I love it. read more

One of the rewards of being a member is that you get incentives... and what better way to end the year but with a nice make over. Valued at $50, and without the coupon, a purchase of $50 is expected. I'd figured it was time to update my skincare and make up routine and get a mini pampering! The store is brightly lit and the supplies of make up applicators, Q tips, sponges, make up remover, brush cleaner and alcohol cleaner is freely available. The entire experience was pleasant enough although it gets noisy in the store. A step by step guide through the entire process was helpful. I loved the final finish and I was able to upgrade my products and find the right shade appropriate for my skin tone. At the end of the session, you are emailed the list of products they've used on you. That's pretty handy! There wasn't a hard sell on anything either. I would highly recommend the makeover. read more
