I got my wife a $50 gift card for her birthday and she loves Sephora! When we walked in noone greeted us and when people came in right after us they were getting greeted and were helped right away. We spent almost 30 minutes NOT one person came to help. We told the girl at the register, Lexi how bad it was and she was the only friendly one. Honestly we felt very offended especially because I got her the gift card and for us especially her a loyal customer to be treated like that was insulting. She likes Ulta too and we will most likely go there where we are treated better and have never had issues. Lexi offered her free samples my wife turned it down and told her we didn't want free stuff. I've never been into a Sephora and my sister was really excited to take me there. I understand a lot of people shop lift and the employees are trying to be helpful but I felt more harassed than helped . At one point an employee grabbed the two things I had in my hand and took them away and came back with them in a basket . Not bad service, one thing I notice when I've walked here few times is one of the Sephora dolls are ready to help.. the 3 stars factor? While I am looking to buy something they seem to still follow me and make suggestions, mind you I am trying on colors looking at products etc... I dislike being hounded, and like to be asked once if I need anything. I'm not a fan of being followed around and being offered suggestions, i feel this is pushy & pressurring to have an obligation to buy something if tried on. I recently went into Sephora and had a terrible experience with their customer service. First of all, I had to ask for assistance several times before recieving any help. I was told that they were short on staff and were very busy, but saw a few employees standing around and leaping to help other customers entering the store. I was told to sit and wait for someone to assist me. I sat there for a very long time, all the while I saw other people being assisted who had come into the store after me. I was not taken seriously as a customer, judging by lack of attention and willingness to assist me. Secondly, one of the employees was extremely rude (every time I asked a question, I could see her exchange glances with another employee and make faces) as if I was being such a hassle to them. At first, I tried to just ignore this, but after a while it became irritating and frustrating. I spoke with the manager, and she offered me a free makeup session as compensation. However, during the makeup session, the same employee I had complained about was present, making it highly uncomfortable because she knew I had complained about her. The makeup artist did half of my face, then told me we were out of time. I didn't think it made sense to only do half of someones face.....she had to call over her manager and ask if it was alright to finish the rest of it even though my time was up. It was absolutely ridiculous! And the employee who I complained about, who obviously doesn't like me very much, said to her manager (a different manager than the one I had complained to the other day) that I did not actually pay for a full makeup session and that this was only compimentary, and therefore cannot have a finished makeover. How rude! Very bold of her, considering the fact that she knew I was given the session because of her own poor behavior. Eventually, my makeup was completed, but it looked absolutely terrible. The lipstick looked like clown makeup. The color was an atrocious shade of super bright red that didn't look right on me at all. The eye makeup was not great either. I removed it instantly upon leaving the store. Overall, I had a bad experience here (bad enough that I would take the time to write such a thorough complaint) and would NOT recommend this store to anyone. Not only is the customer service bad, but the makeup artists don't do a good job. Take your business elsewhere; it's not worth spending your money here. read more

Great service, and oh, the samples! I got 3 generous helpings of $100 face creams to try. The selection here is just what this area needed... mercier, nars, bare minerals, ojon, fresh, etc. I love that you can try out just about anything in that place. It's well stocked with disposable brushes and makeup remover. Some Sephoras (ahem, Pleasanton) are like one giant petri dish. Not so here- it's still shiny and new. Enjoy! read more

Make-up heaven! This place has everything you could possibly need (makeup wise). They carry numerous brands and they even have a section for perfume/cologne and hair products. Since most people have been inside a Sephora, this review is for the service. They have a friendly staff. I'm always greeted when I walk in and ask every so often if I need assistance. I have been to this Sephora many times. Benefits are that it's relatively empty for a Sephora and you can get service quickly. Skin care is well staffed and I have always received thoughtful tips. Today I have to give a shout out to Cheryl, who gave me the most incredible service!! Very helpful and allowed me to exchange my unwanted gloss, find and test the correct color, and find wonderful eye shadow samples from Bare Minerals. I got home smiling ear to ear!!! I'd rather go to Ulta! Came here the other day to get my mom her Bare Essentials make up. All the ladies in my fam love BE. But I usually make my purchases online or at Ulta cause I'm not a big fan of this particular Sephora's customer service. They aren't really rude, just something about them irritates me! Like they seem bothered by your presence in your store. I guess cause a few times I've gone in with my kids. Came in to purchase under-eye concealer and foundation. I was helped by Sam and she did a GREAT job but she accidentally spilled most of a bottle of Urban Decay's new foundation down my leg and in/on my new purse!!! She was so apologetic and tried to clean everything up. It was her intention to comp me the concealer and foundation but they didn't end up having any more of that shade. Sam color matched me again with the Bare Minerals Serum and took care of that. I left my info with her so we could discuss replacing my purse with a different manager. Two days later they purchased the purse again from Macy's and let me know it was being shipped. I just got it in the mail today along with a few samples, so nice! Lori helped me out Tuesday afternoon. She was very nice, super helpful. I was looking for new make up because I am in a wedding this weekend. I needed some foundation that had full coverage. She helped me find something that worked for me. Also, helped me find bronzer, under eye concealer and some new brushes. Best makeup store in town! I defintely am a fan of Spehora. This is the once place that carries all your beauty needs from makeup & skincare to fragrance & hair products. The options for foundations, blush, lipstick, tools, etc. is endless! The foundation IQ machine is something specific to Sephora that is great! It finds your exact shade of foundation in all the many brands in store. They also have a rewards program that adds up the money you spend and you get great free samples of items. I did have a bad experience once where I was recommended and tried on a Dior foundation. It must have been a lighting in the store because when I got home and applied the foundation the next day, it looked terrible. It didn't match my skin at all! I will admit I have never been a make-up addict, but slowly this store is feeding a new habit. I was first introduced to Sephora when I was shopping for a new foundation. My first experience was great and I received the best service even though there was a promo going on and the line wrapped around the store. They allow you to take samples of foundation, if you ask, which is helpful! I don't know if a foundation works for me until I've used it for about a week (I am prone to breakouts), and the color always looks different in true light. For me this is a huge plus as it has saved me dozens of trips to return purchased products. Another perk... their return policy!!! Most MUA's are fairly knowledgeable of products and can generally give great recommendations of brands and colors that work for you. Warning: DO NOT ENTER SEPHORA if you're on a budget and have a penchant for high-quality, glossy-packaged items that make you feel prettier just by looking at them. You'll fail, miserably, to not stand in line with at least one lone item. And, of course, after standing in said line for anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 seconds, you'll make it up to the counter with a rueful smile and present the cashier with 1 - 5 more little items you picked up from the 'helpful' rows of cute, mini stuff right in your eye-line. Don't be foolish enough to think you can actually resist any of it! The samples are fantastic. In fact, one day when the wait in line was long, a Sephora employee went around and gave every single person a sample of a NARS highlighter as an apology. I've also been given, on two different occasions, more than the maximum three samples I'm allotted as a Sephora card holder, and all of the samples are very generous! All I've yet to do here is get my make-up professionally done, which I may do come graduation this May. I have no idea if the women here have the credentials that the MAC counter girls do, but perhaps I'll report back later! read more

This Sephora is the best location in the valley. They usually have what Im looking for in stock & the girls are nice & willing to help you, unlike Sacramento or Stockton locations. As nice as they are though, some don't have much knowledge about actual skin, makeup, technique or application but they do make up for it in personality & great attitudes. Dont get me wrong, Im not expecting award wining makeup artist at a mall so I know that going in but the girls here seem willing to try EVERYTHING until they get it right so that in & of itself makes it worth the trip. TIP: If youre looking for a info on a certain brand item, I'd call & ask when that brand will have a demo or rep in the store & then head over at that time because its just impossible for any ONE person to know everything about every brand & the best chances are going to be with the brand reps. read more

I just want to start out saying that Jane the skin care associate is AWESOME & AMAZING. I went in about 2 weeks ago for the umpteenth time trying to find a matching foundation for my olive skin tone. Every other time I've gone in there the cosmetics ladies DO NOT spend more than 5 minutes with me. It's so frustrating. I've had to go back to return my items every time because they did not work for my skin/skin tone. But Jane,wonderful Jane, spent almost an hour with me. Answered all my questions. Matched my skin. Gave me LOTS of tips, recommended great products that ACTUALLY worked for my skin. If you are a woman past your 20's & is NOT looking for that new "contoured" look & want actual skin care & make up advice,go see Jane. She is wonderful. She is very knowledgable. I will give them 1 star since 0 is not an option. So yesterday my friend and both of our sisters decided to head into the main sephora after class. Gosh, I've never felt so uncomfortable trying on makeup. These girls were literally following us around and kept their eyes on us the whole time as if we were going to steal something. Afterwards, we went to the Sephora inside of JCpenney to purchase the item that I wanted we went back to the main sephora since the jcpenney sephora didn't have the perfume I wanted a sample of. Ghetto Tony girl tells her crew "they're back" like really how unprofessional is that. She just confirmed my suspicions. Regardless of how many people have stolen stuff there it is not cool for anyone to stereotype or follow people around the store like fat lady tony did along with the other girls. we have money to pay and we did pay for all of our merchandise. Patty however inside of jcpenney was so helpful she even helped me order a Anastasia brush I was looking for and Corina at the other sephora couldn't do that for me?! That goes to show they have no type customer service skills. These girls need to be re trained or should not be allowed to work in a place where customer service is key. Btw I did get a perfume sample from Corina which was only 1 sprit since she only filled the perfume sample bottle about 1/4 if that. What kind of ish is that?
