Their customer service is horrible. Very judgmental and unhelpful. Most of the makeup on the shelves are messed up and not where they are supposed to be. Testers are missing as well. Products are dirty from other products. Women at the cashiers were especially rude and clearly weren't doing their jobs at all. Just side eyes and attitude from this store. It was my birthday going this last weekend with a couple girls and I came across this LOVELY make up artist named Alyssa that showed me the highlighter she was wearing that was blindingly beautiful! (I bought it of course) she showed me the new Charolette Tillberry foundation that packaging was a little different than the other that I loved as well!!! I also got the most gorgeous shade of the Fenti lipgloss that is somewhat 3 dimensional and lots of items and a perfume I adore that she helped me find a lot! I went to Ulta in Modesto to get a haircut and all over color. Before my appointment we talked about the colors they had and that highlights would look better. I wasn't told that the cost would go from 78 to 120. My total bill was $206.! For highlights that was supposed to be red but look orange and a trim. I will never go back there. While I was explaining to the girl at checkout that I have to put some on my credit card and the other on my debit card she was sort of just brushing me off! And had the nerve to ask if I wanted to leave a tip. I said no, I didn't have it now! Unbelievable! I have a tip for them. I went in to pick up some makeup necessities before a trip and noticed the salon was open. As I was already looking to get my haircut and don't currently have a stylist I decided to give the stylists at Ulta a chance. I couldn't be happier with my results. All of the ladies and gentlemen who work there were super friendly and knowledgeable and the prices were very reasonable! Went in to buy mascara. I'm really not loyal to anyone company. I approached Tiffany, she talking to another associate explaining about some companies product. She said I will be right with you. She came over me we discussed product. She said she preferred a certain brand. I said I had used that before. She said she personally preferred the brand I talked about. She talked so much about being cheating on to even triggering topics of SA etc., took so long, burnt my sides off, dyed my hair patchy and uneven and had the audacity to lie and say my hair must have been dyed or had some "chemicals" on it before she ruined my hair. I had not washed my hair for 2-3 days before my appointment as well, I do not put any chemicals of any kind on my hair. Money down the drain and I am still disputing the charge. Avoid NANCY V. I had a pick up order here i parked in the designated parking spot and then decided to buy some products while my daughter waited for the associate to arrive. I come back to my car and see this note that was placed on my windshield by an associate. This is incredibly unprofessional and speaks volumes of the staff that' is employed at the store. Deeper critical thinking skills/ exploring alternatives as to why a car might be parked there were not present. Quite frankly this makes me feel uncomfortable and almost threatened. The lengths this individual went to place this on my car does not sit right with me. It could have simply been addressed in store. It's a slap in the face because all I was doing was purchasing even more items on top of what was previously ordered in the pick up order. I'd like to mention this occurred around 6 pm there were several other empty curbside pickup spots. I have vision problems with one eye but am well within my legal limits to drive and conduce a vehicle . Its's so sad to see such ableist comments made by Ulta employees. read more

I have been to Ulta Hair Salon in Modesto, CA, two times only and this will be my last time going. I went thinking I would get a great job as I expect a specialist. I decided to book with Nancy as she was an expert and I did not want to waste time on my hair. I got to the store at 11 for my appointment just to sit with Nancy to figure out what to do with my hai for almost 30 minutes. I showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted, and Nancy was trying to convince me to do a complete color correction I understand my hair needed a change, but I have been to other hair salons for a touch-up and was never given a problem. At this point, I knew she was trying to make her money in any way possible. After almost 45 minutes confirming my hair process, let me remind yo I had chosen partial highlights and a treatment. That is all I wanted. I even stated I wanted my hair a honey-blonde color and guess, what? My hair is completely dark and brown. Nancy said, to not worry as my hair would get lighter but the highlights you can not see. I then got my receipt and when to walk to the cashier to check out. When I was about to pay, I saw on the ticket I was being charged for the "full highlights," which I did NOT get. I immediately asked to speak to a manager. I am writing this review so that others do not try to be taken advantage of. I understand business is business but one thing you do not try to do is scam off people. I will never go back and pretty upset about this experience. I took a chance on Ulta just to be disappointed and ripped off. Nancy is a scammer and the manager was unhelpful. Do not waste your money or time going here!! Go to Paris Salon or somewhere more professional. read more

I like this Ulta okay. I appreciate when they shout "WELCOME" real loud at you just in case you're a secret shopper. This location is kept up okay. Some other Ulta stores are dirtier. I blame the white plastic shelving they use for colorful and messy makeup powders and creams. They are getting more and more brands in the stores. Sephora has more of the luxury brands, but Ulta carries the drugstore brands. I like the young guy with the dyed hair. I don't know if he still works there, but I've had him as a cashier probably 4x and he is always super nice and makes an effort to provide good customer service. Sign up for their free rewards program if you're going to shop there more than once, because you can earn $ rewards off eventually. You just give them your phone number on future shopping trips. Honestly, their rewards program is easier than Sephora. Just remember to tell the cashier to apply your $3 off or whatever. Also, check the website in case there's a coupon. They allow you to show the coupon on your cell phone, no printing needed. read more
