I would like to give a big shout-out to skincare consultant Quinn Monroe. I walked in on a Saturday early afternoon and was wandering around. I happened to see someone receiving a mini facial and thought I should take advantage of that. This is the first time I decided to try a mini facial after being a VIB Rouge for many years. I was at the skincare studio and was immediately greeted by Quinn. I asked about the mini facial service and despite the fact that he was in the middle of something, he immediately agreed to help me and asked me to wait a few minutes. After a few minutes, he started the process by asking me about my skincare concerns and quickly had an idea of what to grab for this mini facial. He brought back a couple interesting items and surprisingly I have not tried any of those yet and some of them I would never have picked up myself. He brought back a cleanser, a peel, a mask, a toner, a serum, a moisturizer and sunscreen mist. The whole process was extremely relaxing and informative. I learned so much from Quinn and chatting with him was just a pleasant experience. At first, I thought it would be a super quick and he would just use a couple products on me. However, it was more like a luxurious facial to me. The application technique was on point and the whole process was so professional to me. It was also a knowledge sharing session and he shared a lot of his knowledge about skincare, the products and how to pick the right products for myself. He was very patient, easy to talk to and friendly. I got quite a few samples of the products we used today and I am excited to try them out as they seemed to be something I have been looking for. Seriously, this is probably one of the best if not the best experience I have at Sephora. Quinn demonstrated what perfect customer service means. I totally understand retail is a difficult job and it gets very tiring having to deal with so many customers (and sometimes mean ones) every day. I have been shopping at Sephora for their skin care products for quite some time. I got a VIB 20% off coupon in the mail and decided to expand into their makeup line. The staff here are really friendly. There was a particular girl, Monique that was EXTREMELY helpful. I had a little list, and she showed me where each of the products were on my list. She also assisted me in choosing concealer colors. Only thing I am unhappy about is that because this store is smaller then the HUGE on downtown, they tend to run out of stock on "popular" items. I wanted to pick up DIOR lash plumping serum with the 20% off coupon, and of course they didn't have it in stock. They also don't carry the Shisheido or LORAC lines here. They may have just the most popular cleanser from Shisheido. read more

I've been here less than a handful of times, and finally after my last visit, I'm not going to return here. ~The Good: I remember my first visit here I was helped by Madi, and she was a delight to be helped by. I came in to find a concealer and she was very knowledgeable. While Madi was helping me, another customer had interrupted her and asked for help, but Madi politely told the customer that she'd be right with her after she was done helping me. She had shown me YSL's Touche Eclat #3 and MUFE's full cover concealer #7/8, but they were out of shade 7/8 (which I wanted to buy). Madi had apologized to me for the product being out (after she had shown me the shade), and she seemed to really feel bad about it and it didn't bother me at all. I ended up getting YSL's Touche Eclat. ~The BAD: Let me continue from the story above... Madi had gone to help the other customer while I went to go and pay for my product. Whoever rang me up was completely rude! I had simply asked if the YSL had a brush (sorry, I'm no makeup guru) and she gave me this irritated/"duh" look and said yeah. The girl who rang me up previously was the same girl who helped my mom the 2nd (and the last) time I came to visit this store. She approached us and asked if we needed help, my mom asked about a certain type of concealer. The girl didn't really understand what my mom was trying to ask, so she kept tilting her head out of confusion then finally had this irritated look because while she was trying to figure out what my mom asked, she was talking in a VERY soft mumbly voice and my mom had asked her to repeat herself. Then, she finally started to point to a display (same girl as Sarah M?). She was trying to point to a display ACROSS from the store! As if we knew what in the world she was pointing to let alone what she was saying because her voice was just so soft and mumbly. I really didn't understand why she couldn't just walk us to there since it could've been done in half the time. read more

We dealt with several staff members when we visited this sephora location. Each staff member was very knowledgeable, helpful, polite and professional. I was really impressed. I normally go to another chain store for various "beauty" supplies. I think that will change. I was pretty impressed by the level of customer service at this store. They even made a sample take home container of a lotion so that I could try that product out before purchasing. read more

Today's experience was really lovely (and looking back our prior trips have been great too) I went in looking for some help with my skin after pregnancy, I had specific product qualities in mind. Store was busy and I waited 2-3 minutes for someone to ask if I needed help. Within a minute someone started assisting me. She was focused on me and not distracted the entire time. Associate recommended products that were pricy (after I said that function was my main concern) and I was curious to read the online reviewed (I am mainly online shopper) - and this is what made me very happy - key features of the products she recommended are exactly the things I was looking for. I've been traveling lately and have been dealing with my skin freaking out because of it! I have never experienced any sort of skin issues or blemishes until now. I went in to find a skin care regime that can help me deal with this problem, and to make it more tricky, I have suffered from very sensitive skin my entire life. I was directed to Nichole who was was without a doubt amazing! Helpful, informative, was not rude or pushy in the slightest. As much as I dislike coming to this location, it's usually the only location that has available appointments. Not to brag but I spend a lot of money at Sephora but for some reason every time I go there and interact with one of the sales reps they leave a bad taste in my mouth. I came recently for a eyebrow tutorial to go from caterpillars to sheik and the sales person asked if I was VIB. I replied, "yes" and they proceeded with "Are you really?" I didn't think that was professional at all and that's not how you treat your customers. I will happily do my own make up before I be treated like that again. read more

I had a completely different experience with the associate named Hallie. She helped me out with a fragrance when I went in there, I wanted something hot, hip and new and she sold me on the new Juicy Couture Noir and even let me in on a tip that there's gonna be a new launch soon of something new! I understand how some of the reviews say the girls aren't always so happy but I understand it because it's primarily women shopping in that store and let's face it, women are hard to please. Hallie even made me samples of some of the fragrances that she thought I might like for the winter season :) I am a little confused though because she has dark brown hair and not Blonde hair, and when I asked about the new Drybar line she did tell me that she recommended for color treated hair (I have been harder on my hair than I have been on my diet ;)) to try the overnight repair serum from Alterna(?) and mentioned that she had purple hair for a few months before the brown, so I think the other reviewer might have been referring to someone else? All together, she was incredibly sweet and so was the other girl that walked me around the store, Sabrina was her name, and she had on some rockin glitter on her eyes! The only reason I dock 1 star is because when I walked in I was greeted by Hallie in the very right hand corner of the store and she explained how she couldn't leave her position and had to flag someone down to cover her... it seems silly how poor the communication was between the sales associates and it felt like there weren't enough employees in the store to help out every customer. Either way, it's a great location, and I like all the employees, besides the short coverage and being out of stock of a lot of things, they have a good system. I noticed that some of the people this Sephora hired are really rude. When this Sephora first opened everyone who was working there was really nice, but now almost all of them are super rude (except for the 2 guys who helped me, super nice). I hate the feeling when you walk in and all they do is look at you, instead of staring why don't you try to make it less awkward and at least give me a decent acknowledgment. I can understand if you hate your job or your having a bad day but don't take out on people who didn't do crap to you, suck it up. Usually, I go to one of their downtown locations, but today I was in Daly City and thought I'd stop in for some goodies. I have been a Sephora customer for a long time, and to put it nicely, I tend to get the 500 point perk every time I shop. Today, I came in, picked up a few items, and decided to sniff around a bit for a new eyeliner. I picked one out, but unfortunately, the display counter was such a mess that I couldn't track it down. After enough hunting, I realized it wasn't out. SO, after trying to catch the eye of an employee for what seemed like forever, I decided to open the stock drawer and see if my eyeliner happened to be up top. Maybe it's not orthodox, but I wasn't going to wait hours to find out if my eyeliner was in. A salesgirl came running over and asked in a nasty tone "CAN I HELP YOU" as she nearly shut the drawer on my fingers. I told her what I was looking for. Instead of searching for it, this is what I got: "Oh, I think I like, just looked for that for another customer. We're out." Maybe you should have asked for the shade I was looking for first. Stonestown Sephora: chasing away loyal customers, one at a time. Dear Sephora, I have patronized your stores from Hawaii to Boston for almost ten years but my experience today has made me no longer a loyal customer. You offer a wonderful selection of products from all over the world and have a great return policy but your employees should not be irritated and making their customers feel bad about themselves (especially in a beauty product store). I share with you the following experience: I went to Sephora to look for a new foundation as I have recently gotten a rather dark tan (blame the european sun). I was perusing through the different brands when one of the sales girls (she neglected to tell me her name) asked me if I needed help (pretty standard for Sephora). I asked her if she could help me find a new foundation as my current one was having shelf life stability issues and was a couple of shades lighter than my newly tanned self. She asked me what type of coverage I was looking for, what aspects was I looking for in a foundation and if I wanted to match my face or my neck. Valid questions...except they were asked in a slightly irritated tone of voice, like she was not happy that I had asked for help (as if she had expected me to simply say no thanks, I'm fine). After she selected a foundation and color, she gave me makeup remover cloths to take off my current foundation. As I was taking off my makeup, moisturizing, and priming, the whole time she appeared to be in a hurry / rush or distracted by something. After she put the foundation on, I wasn't competely happy with it so she had me go outside the store and look at my face under natural light. However, after taking me outside the store, she simply walked off without saying a word to me. I overheard another employee talking to her, but I couldn't hear what was being said. I wasn't sure where she went or if I was supposed to follow so I waited outside. A minute or so later she came back, visibly irritated and said, "well, are you coming back inside or what?" I should have left then and there as I was starting to feel really uncomfortable, but I stupidly went back inside. She asked me how I liked the foundation and I told her it didn't quite look right (as it had a redish tint and looked quite obvious that I was wearing foundation - despite the fact I had told her I wanted a natural look.) Then she asked me a couple of questions about what I liked and didn't like about a foundation and went off to look for another one. After she applied it, she asked me how I liked it. I told her I wasn't quite sure as I liked the color / look / blend with my skin tone but didn't know how it would hold up in my day-to-day routine. Then the following occurred: Sephora beauty consultant (SBC): "well I think you don't really know what you're looking for. I think you want something with full coverage." Me: "No, I know I want something with medium coverage because full coverage looks quite fake to me. I really like my current foundation, I just don't like it's short shelf life." SBC: "foundation is only going to look as good as the skin under it." Me: ... (I may not have flawless skin but my current foundation makes my face look flawless) I said I'd have to think about it and left the store after this. If Sephora were to one day go bankrupt, I would attribute a portion of the blame to the employees at the Stonestown Galleria. It is true what they say about customer service - one bad experience negates all the rest.Nordstrom, not you, got the $100 I spent on products today. This Sephora consistently has the worst customer service I have ever experienced, anywhere. Most recently, I had two small returns from a Sephora Inside JCP store. One of the managers - older, blonde woman with a pixie cut - is always rude, and unfortunately I had the displeasure of having her assist me with these returns. For the first return, I had my physical receipt in hand, and she insisted that she could only give me store credit for the return, even though it was clear I had paid with my American Express. I had to remind her of Sephora's return policy, and though she fought back that "it was the computer, not her," she finally gave me the credit back correctly. For the second return, I had my SIJCP receipt on my phone. "Oh, this one will DEFINITELY need to be a merchandise voucher!" I asked her why, and she claimed it was because she couldn't scan the receipt. I used to work at an SIJCP store back in the day, and I know that the only information that the bar code gives is already printed on the receipt - associate number, store number, date/time of purchase, etc, and JCP & Sephora stores can't scan each other's receipts anyway, so she was trying to play me. I pointed this out to her and she asked for my ID. I thought she was processing the return normally, only to see the computer print out a WARNING for RETURNING WITHOUT A RECEIPT! She had processed my return as a "return without a receipt" instead of an "SIJCP return," when I clearly had my receipt. "It's just what the computer is spittin' back at me!" Really, lady? I am so offended to have been treated like this, and to have had my information manipulated into Sephora's third party retailer to track people who *actually* return without receipts. I contacted customer service, who put me in touch with the store director. However, based on her email, I don't think she really understood what happened. She offered me a free makeover (useless, since I am already VIB Rouge...) and some samples, which I turned down. I instead requested to be removed from the third party retailer this associate manipulated my information into, and never heard back. Thank you, Sephora Stonestown, for encouraging this VIB Rouge to take her shopping a few doors down to Nordstrom instead. read more

I'm not a person to complain about customer service because I work in retail as well and I know how hard it is. But my encounter today with the cashier (dyed blonde curly hair) was very disappointing. Not once did she smile at me and when I wanted to do an exchange on a gift without receipt, she questioned me more than once about whether I purchased it at Sephora. Next, she takes my driver license and swipes it. She then tells me 'your card did not swipe. Do you have another?' In a tone that was accusing me of a fake id. I told her no I don't have an additional driver license and she tells me very rudely 'I need to talk to LP to see if I can manually input it.' She then looks at the ID and stares at me for one minute as if I am not the person on the ID. I find it uncomfortable. She finishes the exchange and does not tell me how many points I have or if I would like to get a sample. I have never felt so uncomfortable shopping at Sephora in my life and I definitely will not step into that Sephora again. I am beyond upset and disappointed with Sephoras service and I am not planning on stepping into that store ever again. read more

Rude rude rude. The girl was giving me attitude cuz I wanted to return something my friend gave me as a gift. Usually it's no questions asked, checks your id, gives you the store credit. This girl, however, was giving me really suspicious glares like I stole it or something. She should not assume things because I didn't steal it. She was like, "You don't have the receipt? Well...let me ask my manager..." I said, "I usually just get store credit right?" She's like, "Well, I dunno...*calls in her manager*..let me ask...one sec." Visited here last night with my cousin. Felt as if we were being followed the ENTIRE time by a gentleman in gray attire (maybe manager) that started out manning the door. I am a 40 year old woman, and I felt as if i was a teen-ager being watched by them. They were keeping an eye on me the whole time I was shopping. There was even a time when one of the sales person was talking into her ear mic and right as she passes by me, she talks in her mic and says "no that was her cell phone". The customer service here is usually a hit or a miss. Whether the store is extremely packed or completely empty, I am usually not greeted when I walk into the store like I have experienced at other Sephoras (shoutout to Sephora in Burlingame for always holding it down!). I often come here out of convenience. If I am in the area or already shopping at the mall, I would come to this store to purchase some of my skincare and makeup items. Other than that, I would make my way out to the usual Sephora store I go to because they are ALWAYS helpful and provide great customer service. It's usually hard to track someone who works here to help you at this location though, and when I do track someone down to ask for a sample or anything, it feels as if they don't want to help or give out samples. When I'm checking out/returning an item, I always feel rushed through the transaction (whether it's busy or not) and don't receive samples or anything from the Beauty Advisors like I do at other locations. I even received a judgemental look from one of the sale associates that was helping me because I returned an item and it wasn't until she added my beauty insider card to see I was VIB Rouge that her attitude changed drastically throughout the rest of the transaction. Despite the lack in customer service in this location, this specific location has a variety of brands that are offered in the location that some locations might not have (such as Givenchy, Estee Lauder, etc). They also have SK II brands, but do not have them out on their displays. Representatives from other brands usually come out here as well and they are always helpful and knowledgeable about the products. read more

My experience was great from start to finish! My sales associate Daniel was super helpful and patient with all of my questions.

I'm giving this place a two star because of the environment in this location. The product variety is great but the staff here is a hit or miss with their customer service. I come in here often, luckily already with a list or idea of what to buy. As a VIB rouge I would expect at least a welcome or any kind of acknowledgement that I have stepped into the store. I've come to the store multiple times whether it is busy from wall to wall and even when there's more workers than there are customers. More than half the time I never get greeted. The reason why I am finally leaving a review is because I just had about enough when I was given the wrong sample but labeled the one that I wanted. How are you going to give someone an "eye cream" and ask "here's your origins moisturizer". Thinking I heard her wrong I asked again if it was the eye cream she gave me and of course she said yes as she was walking away. I wasn't convinced and looked at the eye cream in it's original packaging, it's pink. The sample she gave me was clearly white. I had gone to another associate who wasn't any help either. He said it was another eye cream.. At that point i hit my boiling point. What if I had put that "moisturizer" in my eye!? Who lies to you like that. These people seriously hate their job. The only people that actually have helped me were either representatives of specific brands or managers. I recently went back to the store for the VIB 20% promotion. Again no greeting. Mind you I wait nearly 30 minutes for an actual greeting. More than an hour in the store. Still no greeting. At the register the associate was so stoic! No smile. I then nicely asked for a gift receipt which I knew he forgot to print out because he had finished my transaction and asked if I wanted it for the item I didn't want the gift receipt for. There's more to the story but I am just fed up with this kind of service and hope it changes. Oh and I never get offered samples at this location! What do you see me as a free loader!? i stopped in looking for a new full coverage liquid makeup. Because I tan so often and then loose my tan, its hard to have the right color makeup that matches. So i decided to get color matched. i was looking like a lost puppy until Heather came and helped me. She offered to put it on my face so that I can see how it looked. She chose Nars and put it on me and helped me find my shade. She was super nice. After I was done I went around the store to look for something else and she came up to me and gave me a free full size sample of Ojin shampoo/conditional, a promo Sephora was having. Awesome!! I love makeup and I myself is a makeup artist. I came to this Sephora to use my gift card. The sales associates here weren't attentive at all. First of, they did not greet you as you walked in that's the number one key to great customer service greeting and smiling. Secondly, when I tried asking for help from this girl standing by the door (who was supposedly greeting customers) was completely day dreaming. I had to say excuse me like three times! Another sales associate I asked help from was doing makeup on someone else. I nicely asked to borrow a makeup brush and was completely ignored by him! I knew he heard me, and I know how it's like to be bothered or asked for help from other customers while helping someone else. But it's doesn't hurt to answer a question for just five seconds or find out what it is they need help on. They can always just point them to the right direction or to another associate. As far as the store it's nice and clean I would shop there again, but I wouldn't bother trying to get help from anyone there. Out of all the employee's there, I only found ONE employee to be helpful and nice. I wish I remembered her name. Other than that don't expect nice, outgoing, employees to be helping you at this Sephora location. They all seemed dull and unaware of what customer service meant. read more

I was very disappointed by the customer service here. I walked in looking for a foundation ready to spend whatever. I purposely talked about how I was looking for foundation with my mother out loud and walked around but I obviously needed help. There was more than enough staff available to help but not one person approached us. There was one employee literally standing in a corner doing nothing and did not approach us. I will not be back. Let start by saying that Jessica is a doll. She embodies the essence of great customer service. The store manager, however, definitely needs an attitude adjustment. This particular store always seems understaffed whenever I come in, which is fine, but it's doubly unpleasant to wait a long time to speak to someone and also deal with a grumpy staff. I came in to get shade matched for a foundation I'd been using for a long time but my current shade was too light for me. Anyway, I waited about 10 minutes and when the manager freed up, I asked her to shade match me. She seemed a little annoyed by the request because she didnt say anything, just simple walked over to grab the shade she thought would fit. She then used her fingers to swipe the pressed foundation and applied it on my neck. I'm not an expert or anything but typically, you use a brush; that is why you wear a brush belt. We agreed on a shade but couldn't find any stock on the display so she went to the under stock to look around. Finally she grabbed one with a slightly different packaging than the rest, opened it to examine and then handed it to me ensuring that it's fine. I then went home and before I could use it, I'd noticed that the product had expired over a year ago. So... What was it that she was examining? I don't mind waiting and I understand that people have bad days, but I've returned to this location many times after (because I live 10 mins away) and she always seems to have the same sour attitude. So disappointed in this Sephora's customer service. Only pro is how surprisingly stocked they are.. I came in just to browse and saw that they had a KVD liquid lip that is sold out at my local Sephoras, so I definitely had to pick that up. Now cons.. Had my boyfriend stay in line for me while I was browsing through all the little cute travel sized items they had around the line.. I was looking for the small version of the UD de-slick finishing spray but didn't see it so I tracked down an employee to see if she could help. All she said was "it should be there in line on the right hand side" and didn't even walk me over when I clearly told her I didn't see it and that it wasn't there. Lazy much? Because I came in on a Monday and the store was damn near dead. Also, we waited in line forever.. Poor girl working the registers asked for back up but didn't get any til maybe 20 minutes later. Customer behind us had even complained. I don't blame her though because waiting 30 mins in line on a slow Monday is unacceptable. And to top it off, the liquid lippie I bought had been USED. Sephora in stonetown they are sucks. The workers always sucks there When u are gonna buy a lot the stuff. they will take care of u very well. But when u just buy one or two things. Or u are ask them questions about the things u are gonna buy. They don't even want to answer u. Tonight I tried to ask about the toner.I walked around in the skincare area.is no one there.then I brought that stuff walked to ask a Indian worker. Then I didn't speak out yet.she said"about skin care questions u could go to that area .there have people to tell u." I saw her got a big order from a lady. That's why she don't even want to answer your questions and listen to ur questions first.she just want u to shut up and stay away from her and her bug order customer. I didn't listen to her.I stay there wait for the workers next to her. I I didn't ask anything to another worker.I just pay. Then she shut up. If I'm ur store manager or just a regular saler. No matter big order or little order. I will take care of both. Because I know ur not just work for ur basic payments. The Sephora headquarters should visit this location. Yes, they do have good selections here, but the staff. They carry fake smiles and sarcasm a lot. Unlike the branch in Powell, the girls here don't stop and take a minute to help you. IF they think you're not a great make up enthusiast, they answer you quickly and leave. read more
