When I ordered a drink from the campus pop up, I was late to picking up my order on a hot day. Most of the ice melted, and they offered to top off my ice which was nice. I love to patronize Tea and Boba establishments. And I would prefer to give each one a perfect score or a Five-star rating but it doesn't always work out that way from my experience. First look, Sequel Tea's menu offerings look delicious. But both the Korean Banana, and Oolong Tea with Cream Top were pretty bland and nothing to write home about so to speak. One of my fave Tea flavor is Oolong and I know what it should taste like if prepared properly. Best boba in SLO and probably the Central California area. I will be sure to visit whenever im in SLO. They pride themselves in the robust flavor and quality of their cold brew teas and it's no joke, and I'm one that want good tea in my milk teas. I am glad I was able to go to their grand opening for their permanent spot at the SLO Public Market. Their earl grey milk tea is the best earl grey I've had anywhere. Usually earl grey just isn't flavorful enough in milk teas to hit the spot for me, but Sequel nails it. In my opinion, their Jasmine is the best tea in their menu- it's the perfect amount of floral taste and has never been over brewed for me so never bitterness. I feel like just ordering tea by itself from a boba place is not worth the money but I would pay for just the Jasmine tea here. I've also tried various other drinks of theirs including the Korean banana milk; they make it with real banana as I can feel the mashed banana and taste. They pride themselves in having no artificial sweeteners. Sequel is still young as a business as of the writing of this review and they are always happy to hear customer feedback, staff is always nice too. I wish they can bring back their lactose free milk option in addition to having alternative milk like oat milk, because as a lactose intolerant person myself, I think the lactose free milk achieves the same creaminess as whole milk, and it just works better for milk teas than oat milk or almond milk. I go here often and every time I do, I'm greeted with wonderful service and a really great boba drink. The boba texture and the flavors are always perfect and tasty, and I also appreciate that they have rotating menus of new flavors or drink types which are always very creative and yummy. I've worked with them for catering purposes and so have a couple of friends and they communicated so well, and the process was very easy. They are very flexible as well. Everyone is so nice and each time I went, the lines were so long (for a good reason)! The boba was cooked well. It was not too soft and has a strong brown sugar taste! If you're a matcha fan, try the horchata matcha! Easily my favorite boba drink I've had on the central coast. It was very matcha forward, just a warning. The cinnamon added just the right amount of spice and makes for an interesting combination. The boba was cooked just the way I like it, a little softer but gives way to more chewiness later on. I found about the shop at the farmers market and the Korean banana milk was super fresh and not too sweet! I have never had matcha before and wanted to try it so I went to the public market location. I just recently got their house milk tea with boba which wasn't bad! I would definitely try asking for it with light ice as after a few sips it started to just taste like water. the boba definitely added to the sweetness but I wouldn't recommend the house tea as a first choice. My favorite is their roasted oolong milk tea, because it's good with plant-based milk (they offer lactose-free and oat milk as alternatives) and isn't too sweet. The crème brûlée drink is a fun treat but it is on the heavier side. Since they're a pop-up shop, their menu is more limited right now but the options they do have are 10/10! The BOBA PEARLS are a perfect chewy texture! The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful as well so it's always a great experience.
