Rude staff watching as we pack up
    jeniel s.

Campsite is lovely! Staff is very rude. On our last day there, a staff member, Jordan, came by and threatened to put our fire out while we were trying to make breakfast. The campsite stoves are not marked and we did not know we were using the wrong fire pit. We used the last of our wood in that pit, and it was already lit. We then had to pack up because he threatened to charge us for another campsite. We were charged for another night, even though we were completely out by checkout! Very unprofessional! Tried to contact the general manager about the issue, but no response yet.

Tanzy enjoying the Babbling Brook :-)

The last time I was here to spend the night it was in the summer and it was complete chaos. Tons of people walking right through our Campground without care, 12 year old girls swimming in their underwear could not get my friends boys to come back to the campground. I did come back for a day trip yesterday and it was a completely different story. It's better to go when it's not crowded, it's the beginning of April now. Completely quiet, it was absolutely beautiful. We sat in a camp spot and had lunch and watched the rafters and kayakers go down the creek. It was a great day :-)

This was our first time at this camp ground. It is wonderful. We camped in R-29 for 4 days. Full hook ups. Riverfront. Nice big tree to shade the motorhome. There is a short walk to the river to swim. Water was absolutely wonderful, clean and everyone was friendly. The staff escorted us to our site and even took our trash for us to the dumpster. We were very impressed with this place. We were about an hour away from the state parks and took full advantage. We spent the entire day in the giant forest and got to see and experience so many awesome things. We will be back!

We had a great experience at this beautiful and very staff friendly campground! We had a big group rent several tent spots in the river could not have asked for a better location. The river is perfect for big and small kids to play in. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, they even delivered our ice and fire wood to our camping spot! We had a great time and will definitely be returning.

I would like to give 5 stars to this campsite for being great in terms of location and scenic enviroment. Since it's right on the river and in close proximity to the entrance to Sequoia National Park, it makes it one of the best camping and lodging choices. On the other hand, I would like to give 3 stars for my overall cabin experience. Our family stayed in so called Deluxe Cabin. Well, it was far from being deluxe. It was more of a motel style cabin since it had a lot of motel features (common walls with the other two cabins to the left and right, room set up, from the pros it had bed sheets, blankets and towels, also a set of bathroom necessities). The room had a kitchenette. There was a basic set of dishes (4 of each kind), utensils and pots. So here what I found disappointing: the tray that held the utensils was too big to fit in one drawer (there was only one drawer in the kitchenette) and was placed in the cupboard; there was no cooking space on the kitchen counter since the microwave took some space on the left from the sink and the sink was next to the stove on the right; our refridgerator (it was of a good camping size) had a door opening towards the wall and not towards the kitchenette space (this way it was quite uncomfortable, the door should have been secured opening the other way); there was a table enough for 4 people but in order to use it for all 4 of us we had to pull it out from the alcove and thus it took third of the kitchenette space reducing the walking space between itself and the stove to about 2 feet; the only coffee machine was similar to Keurig coffee maker and there were only 2 decaf coffee pods (more were available for a fee at the office). Also, in the bathroom the light switch was behind the door, it seemed located in the wrong and inconvenient place. My expectations were higher for this place and I am writing this review not to complain but so the others, who will be renting these Deluxe Cabins, would know what to expect.

This time we entered through the Visalia side and planned to see Crystal Cave & go for the Stargazing experience in the evening. Sequoia is a beautiful park. We spent all day in the park. Our Cave tour was at 3pm and our Stargazing was at the lodge at 9pm. They had a separate line at the entrance for guests who prepurchase or had NP passes which was nice and cut down entrance times. Though we only visited a small section of the park on this trip it was all beautiful. We drove around, visited Crystal Cave (advanced tickets required), The General Sherman Tree, Stargazing Night Talk at the Lodge, as well as the general store. We saw some of the biggest trees we have ever encountered. Walked many different trails, saw a beautiful sunset, and spent an hour watching stars with an astronomer who pointed out many constellations and provided insight on them. Overall it was an incredible experience, and I can't wait to be able to explore more at a later date.

However, Horse Creek was a good introduction to the camping world. At $20 a night, you get your own campsite that can fit up to 8-10 people. We were able to fit about 4 tents. The ground was flat enough to set up camp, and the grounds to eat and chill were spacious enough. As for the bathrooms, the showers are fairly clean and the toilets aren't too shabby either. It seemed like they were cleaned on a daily basis. As for entertainment, the campsite is right near the lake so every morning I woke up to the beautiful sight of nature - the sunset was pretty as well. The lake wasn't too dirty, although I would recommend water shoes. Also, the main office has friendly staff to answer any questions. Ultimately, if you want a campground that's at the bottom of the mountain (it's only 10-12 miles away from the entrance of the Sequoia National Park) that's clean and family-friendly, this place is extremely solid. I highly recommend it.

The sites are RIGHT on the shore of the lake. In fact, the site we reserved was UNDER WATER when we arrived in early May. They're not joking when they say the whole campground is closed in the summer months due to flooding. Thankfully they only allow half the sites to be reserved and they moved us to an open spot, right at the front. It also gave us an easy spot to fish from the shore in the mornings and evenings. I'm glad we chose this campground when finding a weekend getaway. I heard it gets crowded inside the main campgrounds in Sequoia Park. Sites are well spaced out. Each spot had either a canopy or a tree for shade. Of course theres a fire pit too. The bathrooms were sufficient. 1 shower inside, with hot water. The local general store is within a 5 minute drive to get firewood and supplies and Kaweah Marina is close by too to rent a patio boat to enjoy the day on the lake. They will close the gate entrance at 9pm sharp. But you can park in the dirt lot or next to the gate over night. The exit is open all night, but its got those 1 way spike strips... exit only.

You can hear the cars but the traffic noise dies down to almost zero at night. There is restaurant/bar across the street which we found enjoyable especially since it was super hot outside! It had good food and drink. Price: It was very reasonably priced though you have to pay additional money for more than more car which it is due on arrival because you can't pay online for it. Staff/Facilities: The camp manager was very nice and welcoming. The bathroom and showers were clean and maintained. (Hot water too in shower!) Our campground was in the center next to others but we weren't disturbed. I included a camp map to help others with choosing a good spot. I would recommend 7/8 as they are in the back away from everything. Also, there is no potable water and while there is a camp store, it was closed when we were there. There are fire pits at each campsite. Overall, we had a good experience and this is a solid choice if you can't stay in the park. Just be prepared for some driving once you get in the park.
