I booked this place since it wasn't far from the Rodeo. The rodeo was cancelled and rescheduled for another date. I called and talked to the manager Gina and she was nice enough to change my dates of arrival for a one time courtesy. Unfortunately, the rodeo was cancelled in Kernville and rescheduled for another location. I figured I would loose the money might as well take my son on a fishing trip. When we arrived Gina was there to check us in. She is full of energy and super nice. Explained everything and made us feel so welcome. When we got in the room and turned on the light it was still so dark in the room, kitchen and bathroom. I thought there is no way I can do my makeup in here. I didn't bring a hand mirror to take outside to do it. I wondered if it was just this room. It's not, my friend checked in to another room on Saturday and I waited to see what she thought. First thing she said "it's so dark I can't see in here" so I guess all the rooms are like that. What I can see with my blind eyes in the very dim light the room seemed clean and beds were comfortable. If you are coming here to fish there are many places one being Riverside park that I would recommend. The water down by the lodge is full of fishing line left by others. We broke two lines and gave up after two hours. It is very beautiful just to relax down there so it was still enjoyed. There is a fish cleaning station at the lodge if you should catch some. At night Gina gets the fire going on the patio in the rear of lodge. There are chairs and a table if you want kick back. Quiet time is 8pm and pretty much everyone stuck to it on our visit. Make sure to get any supplies you may need in Kernville. Once you drive out here there isn't anyplace to get food or supplies. Looks like the store across the street was closed and for sale.

Right next to the Kern river, you can literally walk down the back and have breakfast, lunch or dinner. There's a bench and large rocks to relax on or dip/swim in the water. The staff was friendly and the hotel room wasn't bad. Expected it to be a bit cleaner during this COVID pandemic. The dishes, coffee maker were not cleaned thoroughly and the shower did have black mold on the edges of it. It was convenient having a small grocery across the street for coffee in the morning and they do serve food. Note: Definitely head to Vons before coming here to stock up on food and necessities which is around 15-20mins down the mountain. One extremely odd moment, before we left we had the TV on a specific DirecTV channel. When we came back it was on a religious channel? SUPER SUPER WEIRD.......

I've been coming here for over 12 years. I love this place. I couldn't get enough of this place two weeks ago. So my friends and I rebooked it again. Kelly and Anthony are the best hosts. They keep this place tidy and no rowdy guests either. Always so peaceful. And thank you two for making sure we were well taken care of. We arrived late and Kelly kept and eye that we were still coming. She has our room set at a comfortable temperature and the lights on since it was getting dark out when we arrived. Thank you again. We will be back soon

    Stars by the river

Robin and Jeremiah were amazing hosts, I kept bothering them for coffee and creamer since I like my coffee with both, and they were both sweet. Robin answered all of my questions which i felt bad because I would call her multiple times during the day lol had a great time at the lodge, it was very quiet and the sound of the river was very calming since I live in Los Angeles. The room was cute with the kitchenette, the walls are thin so you can hear your neighbor but it isn't much of a bother. Room comes with AC and Heater, it was really cold so we used the heater, no cooking is allowed inside the room but they have 4 gas grills and 2 charcoal grills plus a fireplace! We used the grills through out the whole stay. It seemed that my wife and I were the only ones using the grill since the other tenants were out and about. PLEASE LOOK AT HOW BEAUTIFUL THE SKIES ARE AT NIGHT!!! I loved staying here; it was my first time but it won't be my last! ALSO it is dog friendly :)

Awesome little lodge! Cute and comfortable rooms, they did an amazing job of making our entire group feel at home! The little BBQ areas are great for hanging out with friends, there's direct river access and a convenient store/deli right across the street. Can't wait to come back.

UPDATE: Aug 19-21, 2020 Me and my boyfriend came back for another stay and fishing trip! Another wonderful trip, with the best service from our new favorite - Sequoia Lodge! I cannot tell you how much we now love it here. The views are beautiful, and a small walk to fish and swim in the Kern River out back! You can also drive up Mountain Hwy 99 to find more fishing spots along the pull offs in the road & to the Johnsondale bridge (30 minutes away). Love love love this place! Can't wait for our next trip :) ~~~~~ I stayed here July 10-12 in a King room with my boyfriend, and we loved every moment of it. From the second we checked in, we received amazing and friendly service at the front office. Our room had its own parking space out front - a mini fridge, microwave, dishes & cabinet space in the kitchen/dining area - a TV that had Direct TV/HBO, as well as the comfiest King bed ever. Just a short walk down the stairs at the back of the property and you are riverfront! There is a perfect calm in the river out back to swim, fish, or just sit and enjoy tine with friends & family! The lodge has its own fish cleaning station for those lucky enough to catch some fish! This was the perfect little getaway at the cutest place. I cannot wait to come back and stay for my next fishing trip in Kern

My husband and I spontaneously decided to head to the area for a much needed mini getaway and luckily they had vacancy. The rates were very fair. The room was clean, the queen sized bed was comfortable, and we appreciated that they had a coffee maker. Our room had an AC and heater unit along with a ceiling fan. They have BBQ grills for guest use. We grilled some burgers our first night and enjoyed eating outside in one of the patio areas. Everyone that I interacted with on their team was super friendly. And let's not forget that the Kern River is literally a 1 minute walk from the lodge! My husband went fishing and while he didn't catch anything he had a great time. This is such a wonderful place to relax and recharge. We'll definitely be back.

From the scenic road to the fishing decor on the walls, Sequoia Lodge will definitely be an amazing start to your parks adventure.. Great views great staff and the property is so well maintained. Enjoyed everything about our visit

Nice old school motel on the Kern river with kitchenettes (which we definitely didn''t need LOL). They put us in the back of the property, which was fine with us.... no traffic noise off the street and close to the river with a good view.

    Never again

We arrived around 7 PM and didn't see an employee even though the office was open. And a sign was on the door saying the employee is on the property if missing. Yet an envelope was sticking to the door with a singular key and my name on it. This isn't welcoming and it's not a good image particularly since 7 PM is not late. I actually never interacted with the office manager as far as I'm aware because the individual was similarly absent when I checked out in the morning. I find it very interesting that if you look at the signage in one of the photos below that they're expected check-in time is 3 PM and no sooner yet you won't see an employee there at 7 PM. Does this mean the employee only works four hours per day? Here is what you should know: there is a very bizarre, almost compulsive attention to detail that makes me feel uneasy. In multiple places around the property, one of them in the room, threatening you with all the charges you will get if you 'act out'. The is also a grotesque professional sign on the gate of the pool discussing diarrhea, which made me not want to use it. This is truly excessive. Overall, very average place with an average rate.

As with Riverview Lodge. Then she snooped around Expedia and found some availability. Woo hoo! We've stayed in Kernville a few times already, and with the proximity to Frandy Campgrounds and places to eat and the grocery store, super duper close. We arrived the day before festivities began (Thursday) and got situated. It's a first come, first served parking situation. And if you got the rooms closer to the river, you can utilize the paved driveway and head on down. She booked a double queen room. Our bed was so comfy, it was easy to fall asleep. The AC blows so much cold air (don't mind the noise from it). But, since we picked the bed closest to the AC unit, I think hubby unplugged it the second night & we propped the window next to us for a fresh breeze. Since my friend checked us in, she told us coffee's available in the morning. I don't recall her telling me what times coffee is served. So, on the second day- I lazily walked into the coffee area at 6am and was disappointed there was nothing. Then, I walked into at 6:30am and the coffee pots with a variety of flavored creamers were available. When I went back for coffee around 10am- everything was put away. Womp womp womp. *Some friendly advice- perhaps staff can post a note in the coffee room what time coffee hours are. That way it gives customers a chance to plan ahead. It's a no frills property. You get a TV with cable (we watched MTV the entire time). Strong water pressure in the bathroom sink and shower. Toiletries you'd expect from Motel 6. So, if you're dead set on something specific, bring your own. There was a fake flower vase set on one of the tables in the room and a fake flower arrangement in the bathroom. Both have a thick blanket of dust on them, that if you knocked into it or slightly touched it- thick dust bunnies just cascade. At this point, just throw away the fake flowers. It would suck if a customer has allergies. I'm sure something can be found at the dollar store in Lake Isabella. Good sized mini fridge and microwave available. And the chairs placed outside your front door, are a great way to just chill in the shade and inhale that fresh air. Along the river, Riverview Lodge has an area with fire pits and logs you can burn. I saw corn hole boards propped up behind one of the cabins closest to the water.

It is rustic, old-fashioned, and outdated, in need of updating. Locks are turnkey. Extremely clean, but very basic. It was odd to have a refrigerator, microwave, dishes, and cups, but no silverware/cutlery. No coffee muffin, etc. We arrived around 6 PM and nobody was in the office, but our key was stuck with Scotch tape to the door with our name. Only got to enjoy the swimming pool for about 20 minutes, unfortunately, because it closes early as soon as the outside lights come on. There is a bizarre attention to detail-- almost OCD characteristic-- highly specific signs all over the place as posted below. Summary: for $250 a night it's reasonable. But nothing special. I would've liked to have interacted with an employee and I really think the sign on the pool is grotesque and should be removed.
