I stayed here for one night this past week. I have been to Kernville once before but camped. This time we camped one night and stayed here one night. Sequoia lodge had the best reviews and best price for its location right on the water. Lots of other hotels in the area are across the main road on the opposite side of the river and charge more. The girl over the phone and in person was super super nice. She gave us a king suite even though we paid for a queen. We stayed in room 6 which was right in the middle. We would have preferred a room on the water but it was ok since we were coming here to spend most of our time outside on the river. Let me preface this by saying I watch a lot of hotel impossible and Gecko R is fond of ripping off all the sheets looking for stains a la Antony Melchiorri. Our room was very clean and tidy. It was pretty basic but it had a little kitchen area with utensils, plates, fridge, coffee maker, microwave and popcorn! The popcorn was a nice touch but the popcorn container was filthy. Now dont get me wrong I had a lovely stay but there are some things they could improve. Some lightbulbs were out in the bathroom, the wooden tables in kitchen and bathroom were scratched up, shower doors were weird and opened up in two places and their soap sucks. I think for such a small place a little more maintenance care could be done to the rooms. Simple touches that would elevate this place a little more. They were however super friendly and I think this is one of the best places to stay in Kernville. Fill up your cooler with their ice machine, head down the stairs to the river, fish, raft, and then head across the street to the market for some bbq or supplies from the nicest people out here on the river!! We had a wonderful stay at Sequoia Lodge during our trip to Sequoia National Park. We arrived around 10 PM, after the office has already closed, but nevertheless had a smooth check in. (I left a message on their voicemail ahead of time to let them know we'd be arriving late). The Lodge itself is right on the Kern River. Though we didn't have a river view from our room, the river was so close! There's a staircase that leads down to the river - I'd highly recommend taking these stairs down to the Kern. We saw lots of blue birds and got some great shots of the river. There are roughly 15 rooms on the premises, set up like a motel where you park your car in front of your room. The whole place was very clean and well kept! Our room was cute and cozy, perfect for 2 people. It looked like it had been updated in the last 5 years and was very clean. The cabin themed decor really added to the cuteness of this place (They had bass/canoe sheets- how adorable is that?!) The room had all the amenities we needed (tv, heater, free popcorn + popcorn buckets, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator). I would highly recommend this place if you're in the Sequoia area. Oh, one last note, the official entrance to Sequoia National Park is about 3.5 hours from here (Lake Isabella) if you take the scenic route through the park like we did. read more

Beware of this hotel paying for FAKE REVIEWS. I stayed here and I cant understand why this hotel has good reviews. WARNING: They tricked our family into paying an extra $170. Staff is greedy and unfriendly and will try to scam you with strange fees. Also, Wifi doesn't work so hopefully you don't need your phone! EDIT: Debra is even worse that I thought! Just realized she responded to this post and completely LIED about the situation. Sad that businesses are allowed to respond to their Yelp reviews with BS stories. Nice clean place and cute rooms. Good location about two miles out of town so it is quiet. Right on the Kern River... there are stairs that lead ypu down to the small "beach" on the river. Sarge and Debbie, owners, are great people. They have all the local information. When we were there the weather was very hot but the air conditioning was excellent. Will be coming back. read more

I stayed here last night and I was REALLY impressed! For the price, I felt like it offered a lot. We got there fairly late and since it's privately owned and not like your typical hotel, the guy WAITED for us until 10pm!!! He even had the heater going in our room to make sure it was nice and toasty when we got there. People are very friendly here...I love it. The room was also great!!! It had a little kitchenette so you can store your leftovers or water. They also had a microwave, popcorn for a snack, and utensils and plates if you wanted to make/eat anything. They also had CABLE!!!! It felt like I never left home. The remote worked PERFECTLY too! None of that weird, non-sensitive remote you get at all the other hotels. Heater also worked really well. Bathrooms were SUPER clean!!! I didn't feel like there were germs everywhere and felt comfortable with everything. I can't wait to come back for my next trip to Kernville! read more

We planned a day trip to hike around the area then head home but decided to spend the night in lovely Kernville. We found Sequoia Lodge, which is perfectly situated along the river. The lodge is a charming cozy place with very clean and well appointed rooms containing comfortable beds. Diana and her husband are perfect hosts. There's a market right across the street and decks to view the river as well as a well lit path to walk to the rivers edge at night. Diana's husband made us a fire in the pit on the deck where we listened to the river and sipped our wine until bedtime. Diana and her husband are the perfect hosts: respectful, friendly and helpful.we highly recommend this place to a visitor to the area and hope to be back some day soon. read more

I had to up to Lake Isabella because my brother has terminal cancer. I stayed at the Lodge in Kernville for 3 nights (394.00)and was gone all day helping my brother. One day when I returned my room was NOT cleaned and I know for a fact I DID NOT put out my do not disturb sign . I had to ask for towels and I told them I didn't get any service. They apologized. So I was asked after my stay to give a rating. I gave a honest review and did mention I thought the price was different (my fault), I'm on a very fixed income and this was a unexpected expense. What bothered me most was not having my room cleaned. Due to my brothers illness some of our family are going back this weekend so I thought I'd give this place another try. I booked it and I was told I WAS NOT WELCOME and they cancelled our 2 rooms all because of my honest review. They've been very rude and not professional. I have enough stress I don't need to be treated so poorly. read more

I stayed in the riverfront room #17 and it was very nice! Very clean, quiet and a great view!! There's a little deck with some chairs outside and an even larger deck with BBQ'S, tables and chairs to relax in. The river is right in your backyard for fishing or play!! Pretty much flabbergasted, I stayed there about a week ago with my husband and daughter next door to our best friends and their family. After moments of being there we were told our music was to loud while bbq'ing. We agreed with no issue!! Other issues of that sort accrued as well!! At the end of the day my next door neighbor checked out and had a few exchanged words with the manager and after she decide to privately message him with wild accusations!!! Which I will post so everybody could know what she and according to her and the entire no longer want to see is there!! The Sequoia Lodge is not only in a nice, scenic location (30' from the upper Kern River) but also is incredibly hospitable. The grounds are nice with lots of sitting areas with misters, a fish preparing station if you like to fish, bbq's, and easy access to riverside trails. The layout has that old motel feel where you drive right up to your room. The rooms are clean and spacious and have kitchenettes, TVs with DVD players, coffee makers with free coffee, mini fridges, and even a bowl with a free bag of microwave popcorn. Nice touch! The staff is great and knowledgeable of the area. Coming from LA, I'm not used to such genuinely friendly service. read more

Where do I start.... I was looking for a place to take our 8 month old son because he's to small to take tent camping and came across the "Sequoia Lodge". The staff Diana & Amanda were very welcoming, helpful and very friendly. We stated in room #17 which i highly recommend (you have your own balcony and is right above the grilling and relaxing area. Walking distance from the river & the Kern store (literally across the road) which was nice because one day we didn't feel like cooking lunch so we got burgers and fries :) The rooms have A/C, plates & bowls, glass, wine glasses, dish soap, dish scrubber, microwave, paper towels, complementary body was, shampoo & conditioner, towels. The best part they have an ICE MACHINE!!! which was soo nice to have. We will be booking again next year :) we had such a pleasant time as always for this was our 10 year Kern trip :) Thank you Sequia Lodge staff for making our trip Amazing! we shall see you next year! read more

My son and I came up to for a weekend getaway and do some white water rafting on the Kern River. Our stay was awesome and the staff is very friendly and welcoming! Room was clean and the ambience & location are 5 Stars . If you're looking for a resort type setting this isn't for you. If you want a quiet, remote & secluded cabin feel, you should stay here! Also, there is a cute convenient General Store directly across the street with a deli and good food. The root beer float is delicious! read more

We stayed here this last weekend and loved it. The rooms were cozy and comfortable. We were looking for quiet and found it here. It's close enough to Kernville to be convenient, but far enough away to be unhurried. It's right on the Kern River which adds a wonderful background sound and the stars at night are big and bright! This is one my favorite mountain lodges I've stayed at. They provide so much and the room was very spacey. It had a mini kitchen which provides a sink, silverware, plates, microwave and fridge. Very quiet and it is RIGHT next to the river. The couple who own the lodge are extremely welcoming and friendly. If and when we return to Kernville, we hope this lodge has room for us. read more

Fantastic place for chillaxin, a perfect escape to serenity. The room was clean though the dead cockroach in the morning was a turnoff bur not enough to knock off a star. Parking is right there. The place must book fast during tourist season. The best part is the backyard being the Kern River with nice areas to sit and simply do NOTHING! This is my first time getting to really take in the scenery and happy I did. Watch out for the peacocks and wildlife on the road... seriously don't speed on this road. This place is once of those as good as it gets! They are getting more and more reserved.. which doesn't make me happy.. but happy for the owners of the joint. They are located very close to the main part of town. They have an area for you to clean out the fish you caught for the day...some outdoor games.. they are right on the river... and the hosts are very friendly. Hotel is clean, efficient, and well located. Check in was super easy, problem with tv was quickly solved. However having to call 911 due to the women screaming all night, and fighting was frightening, and unpleasant at 12am. I appreciate the fast response of the sheriff, and after they came it was extremely quiet. It caused us to cut our trip short and not stay a second night. So cozy! The rooms are very fancy. Room 17 has a porch and a window facing the river. There are 14 rooms total. Rooms 3-10 are the main hotel area. 1-2 are separated from the main hotel. Rooms 14-17 are the biggest rooms. There is trails to get to the river. The shower pressure is very weak. They sell mugs for sale at the office. The staff are also very nice too. There are 3 or 4 barbecue areas. One area even has a smoker too. In the rooms they provide silverware, cups, a microwave, and a kitchen sink. In the bigger rooms the dining tables have 3-4 chairs. Each room comes with an old fashioned fireplace, and air conditioning. There is a little shack that has a fish cleaning area, and barbecue equipment. Across the street there is a market that sells breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Some days even have good tri tip. This place is just so fun. read more

Staff here was rude, bad wifi, and there were BEDBUGS. Also no refund on the room! Definitely would not recommend this place if you are in the area. Before you read the ridiculous reply from the owner, take a quick look at the BED BUG DIRECTORY online to see this hotels record if you don't believe me. Furthermore, Kern County Environmental Health does an inspection once a year and bed bugs can come in 1 night! What a sad excuse! Also, in response to the lying owner, I did in fact stay there. This was my secod trip up. My son and I couldn't wait to come back. Both Pat & Keith are the best host. They were so informative on severa things. Like the great fishing & hiking spots down to even the hiring a guide to Fly Fish the Kern. Love the rooms. My favorite is room 1 which is larger with a bigger kitchen The other room 16 was smaller but had an awesome view of the river. The whole atosphere here is AWESOME. Love this place!!!! My husband and I went there for my birthday one year..We keep going back! We took our oldest and his wife the last time we went. They loved it too. Love the peaceful sounds of the river, having breakfast on the patio. Fishing not even 50 ft from your door, Great place! They are the best. 5 star all the way! Anything you needed was there at the lodge! Our hostess even went tubing with us one day, showed us the good spots! GREAT TIME was had by all ! There is a little store across the street has everything from fishing lures, beer, drinks, munchies, a little sit down cafe with a few tables, great homemade food! LOVE ~ LOVE ~ LOVE ~ this place ! A great quiet little motel perfect to get away from the rest of the world. My son and I stayed for 3 nights to enjoy the Kern River. Simple accommodations, clean and kept up beautiful grounds. Flowers are lovely! Only one issue was the barbecue propane tanks closest to us were either empty or another nonfunctional. Manager Cathy was on it and showed us another that we could cook on to accomplish the meal. Housekeeping crew was pleasant and accommodating. read more

This place is really cool. We stayed here for only one night as we were passing through, but we will definitely be back as we found a little gem here! It is very cozy and clean and the owner was very nice and helpful. The decor is great (love the "wood burning" stove in the room!), and you step outside and overlook the river, with neat little walking trails down to the beach. This would make a great rendezvous point for a family reunion or similar based on it's layout. I saw most people bring their own coolers to BBQ right there on your patio. We stayed 2 days. Enjoyed the "hang out" spots the hotel had, decks down by the river. Clean and comfortable rooms. Has tiny fridge and microwave. Cupboards are stocked with cups plates silverware, etc. Great views of sky at night. A little on the expensive side @ 279.00 for two nights. Do not book through hotel.com, you can bet a better deal by calling the hotel directly, and pay cash and get a better deal. We would stay there again. read more

I have been staying at the sequoia lodge since I was little. Every year my entire family packs up and we stay here for a few days. Growing up the Sequoia Lodge has always been my favorite place. It was a slight change when the place got new management/owners, but the lodge is just the same. Staying at the lodge has always been my favorite part of the summer. I cannot imagine how there are bad reviews on here. I have never had any issues that people talk about. There was one year (when they changed management) that our reservation was lost, but fortunately the staff was able to book us all five rooms. read more

We were welcomed by Sarge and his adorable puppy Bell. Beautiful lodge. Decorated so cute with fishing decor. They had the air conditioning blasting for us already, which was nice. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were amazing. Sarge and his wife were very friendly and accommodating- there wasn't a blow dryer in the room, we called and they ran us down one to use. I needed to borrow a pair of scissors, and asked for a couple of bandaids, they said no problem. We love it here! Gorgeous property too. read more
