Came here for happy hour because everyone carried on about the oysters and I thought, how good could they be. Let me echo everyone else, the clams and oysters are incredible! The drinks were equally delicious, but wow on the food. One thing I didn't realize, this is a very casual place. Just off the hotel's pool, people are mostly in cover ups. The Serena Margarita is made with Maestro Dobel Diamante Ancho Reyes, Chinola Passion Fruit, Agave, Lime. Nothing special about it. For my second drink I opted for a regular Margarita. My friend enjoyed the Long Island. For food we tried the Serena Classic Caesar. In was indeed classic, featured anchovies and all. I've had a classic caesar in Mexico. This too fell short. Secondly we tried the Oysters Serena - Baked oysters on the half shell with creamed spinach, garlic jalapeno, cilantro butter, and crushed tortilla. They swam in the butter and creamed spinach. Pass! Lastly we went with the Grilled shrimp Tostadas - 1 jumbo shrimp per tostada, 4 tostadas per ordered. Again, a pass, nothing special there. We weren't sure what to expect from what looks like a very cool roof top bar (note it is on the roof but only the second flood). It is located at the Moxy so cool is already present due to the hotel. The ambiance was perfect for Miami - cool garden terrace with many different types of seating. The drinks as expected were good but the food was fantastic. We tried the "chili water" with fish and it was fresh and very tasty and just a little different than ceviche with a some nice heat. We also had the steak huaraches, which were like little Mexican flat breads but on a tortilla instead of crust and pulled high with steak. In addition we had the chicken quesadilla which had a wonderful mixture of cheese and chicken. Also the Uni and crab tostada and Oyster which was my favorite. We went for an early lunch so I can say anything about the service which was fine but there weren't too many customers. No complaints. This is the Mexican I expect in South Beach! This is not a "rooftop bar!" I'd say it's more like a balcony pub as it is located on the second floor of the hotel. The service was great but the food was a little too bland for my taste. The best part of the meal was the chicken quesadilla, and we could've gotten that anywhere. The shrimp on the tostada were huge, but again under seasoned and a bit undercooked for my taste. There was absolutely no alcohol in the piña colada and when asked, the waitress said I could buy a shot (for five dollars). I was excited to come to Serena but my feelings completely changed after being seated. While we didn't have reservations, we were given a table with no issues which I appreciated. Our waiter came and provided us with menus and it was hard to decide what to eat. So we ordered our drinks first and I asked if the bartender could make a cable car and my waiter said yes. I got my drink and it didn't taste like a cable car. The waiter told me the bartender had to look it up which is fine but it wasn't good. I even asked if the bartender would get testy if I sent it back because I know how some of them can be and the waiter told me yes they would. I was going to just suck it up and drink it but I'm paying for it and asked for a mojito instead. For our food, I asked for an omelette but was told the chefs don't make exceptions for people so I went with the scrambled egg with cheese. We were told it comes with home fries and toast and at no point did he disclose all those things were additional. My food comes 25 minutes later and there's bacon on my plate. I let them know that I don't eat pork and from a cultural standpoint, I don't even want it near me. They took the plate and stood by me for 10 minutes going back and forth on what my meal was. Then they tried it give me the plate again without the bacon. I asked if they re-made it and the guy said no they just took the bacon off. I'm like no, I can't eat this because the bacon has touched the eggs and home fries. Then my waiter came over and he said oh no this was re-made just for you. I didn't believe him because how did that happen in under 10 minutes but I was hungry and didn't have the capacity to go back and forth with him. Not once did he apologize nor did a manager come over to try and ease the situation out. Then the bill comes. We see all the additional costs and I'm like wow, go figure. Then we see they charged things differently than it states on the menu. I bring this to the waiter's attention and he's fumbling over his words and comes back with the manager who blames it on their "archaic system". We visited Serena for brunch on a Sunday at noon, and loved our experience. The rooftop is beautiful, very ventilated (which is key in Miami!) and had a great ambiance, with a DJ on the side playing good music throughout. That said, the music makes this place a bit loud, which did not bother us, but if you want to have more pointed conversation it might disturb that. For drinks we got a frozen piña colada and the high tea, which were both very good (only note is that I enjoy more of a pineapple flavor in my piña coladas, which I'd say this one was lacking, as it had more of a coconut flavor). For our main, we got the short rib hash and grilled shrimp tostada. Both were delicious! We especially liked the short rib hash, which had a generous portion making it difficult to finish! Overall we had a lovely experience, and while this may not be a must-visit, you're certainly going to enjoy coming here. read more

This roof is awesome. The atmosphere is beautiful and so much fun. We had great service by Besik who gave us excellent walkthrough of the menu and food recommendations. Started with the Miami parrot (mezcal cocktail) and asked for it spicy. They muddled jalapeño and delivered on the spicy. My husband is trying to get more into mezcal and ordered an old fashioned with mezcal and really enjoyed it. For food we had Oysters Serena to start. These were the best baked oysters I've ever had. The jalapeño cilantro butter and creamed spinach were amazing with the oysters, and then topped with panko. Savory and delicious. Next we tried the Caesar, chicken enchilada and steak huarache. Steak huarache was definitely our favorite here. The steak was cooked perfectly! We did not care for the chicken enchilada. Was pretty dry all around. I found myself needing to scoop as much of the tomato/pico as possible in each bite. It could have used some sauce. Besik recommended the quesadilla with steak (despite not being on menu) and we found ourselves wishing we did that. The caesar salad was good, but was dressed with a variation to the traditional caesar dressing. It had a different flavor and was a little spicy. We asked what it was and the server came back saying it is egg yolk, parmesan and tabasco. So if you prefer the traditional Caesar would probably shy away from this one..but if you enjoy a kick (like we do) and anchovies, give this a try. Came here for lunch with a group of ladies and I wasn't too impressed. Our server was very slow but she made up for it at the end by comping my meal since it came out nothing like I ordered. There's really not much at all to choose from if you're vegan, so I asked if I could do the Butternut Quesadilla but as a Tostada instead. What came out was nothing of that sort. Disappointing experience after seeing the beautiful first picture of Serena on Yelp because it is definitely not what it looks like there... The only thing that would make up for it is the food. We came here on a Monday afternoon, I had made a reservation but when we arrived, there were only 2 tables so I don't think the waitress even checked my reservation. The reservation ended up getting cancelled afterwards on Opentable. It was kinda wet everywhere, probably cause it rained the night before. There were some fans blowing around but definitely didn't keep you cool. We were looking around on Yelp for pictures of food to decide what to order and we decided on the following. Oysters Serena - these were amazing!!! Baked with cream spinach and all the goodies, I definitely enjoyed this one! Cobia Negro Ceviche - this one was great as well! We had to google what Cobia was and it was a type of fish so we decided to try it. Uni & Crab Tostada - also delicious!!! Also came out so picture perfect! Then this is where it started going wrong. We ordered the HUITLACOCHE Quesadilla, with blue corn tortilla. When it came out, it looked more like a taco and it was a regular corn tortilla... We had to ask the waitress to confirm if this is what we ordered becase we were obviously expecting the blue corn tortilla. She also looked confused and brought it back to the kitchen. As you can see from the picture, it just seems like they took out the filling from the first regular corn tortilla and stuffed it into the blue corn tortilla and threw it together onto the plate. Did they think we could not tell a regular corn from a blue color tortilla??? Also it looked more like a taco than a quesadilla.... A table next to us got seated after us AND got their food before us... We waited quite awhile for our food and the kitchen still got it wrong? Not sure what was going on there... Drinks were also just okay. I wanted a virgin Pina Colada but somehow it just ended up being a pineapple/coconut watered down juice. Our waitress was very nice and the food was okay but overall it was definitely not what we had expected. We were expecting all the nice pink flowers on the green wall but there were no flowers. We started off with the verde shrimp ceviche and it was so refreshing. The tangy flavor of the marinade complemented the shrimp, avocado, and cucumber so well. For entrees we ordered the huevos rancheros and chilaquiles. The huevos rancheros sauce was spicy and flavorful and the the verde salsa on the chilaquiles was a nice addition to the meal. Serena Rooftop is the perfect place if you are looking for IG worthy photo backdrops. The views and set up is really nice! We ordered the Shrimp Tostada and the French Toast with a side of bacon. The Shrimp Tostada was visually well put together. It comes with an orange slice, avocado slices, a very slight spread of refried beans at the bottom, and two big 'ol shrimp! The shrimp is dipped in some sort of sauce that compliments the other items on the tostada - it all comes together nicely. I felt like the serving size was on the lighter side. I could have had one more tostada with my order. The French Toast comes with about 4 big slices with fresh strawberries on the side. The strawberries were sooo sweet for it to be early February! I will say, the strawberries with the syrup for the French Toast was a big too sweet for my taste. The side of bacon came with about 4 long strips. I would give this place ten stars if I could! I made a reservation here for the Fourth of July not realizing that although it's a rooftop, it's not at the top of the building. It's located on the second floor of the Moxy Hotel and the building blocked the view of the fireworks. I spoke with the hostess about my desire to see the fireworks and she agreed to try to hold my reservation for 45 minutes so I could head to the rooftop for fireworks. After fireworks I came back down and a table was ready for me! That's when part two of the magic happened...THE FOOD! I ordered the red snapper filet with roasted mushrooms and baby carrots. The snapper had such a crispy skin, but was still flaky. I could've settled for fewer mushrooms but both sides were well seasoned. I had the tarta de camote and I would've ordered a whole one if they were for sale! I had the white sangria which was refreshing! The waitress surprised me with another one and told me to enjoy my evening and invited me to sit at the bar that had swings. I will visit this place every time I visit Miami! What a beautiful rooftop restaurant! Me and my friend made a reservation on a week day and it was pretty empty. It was really hot out so I'm glad they had big fans all over. We were seated quickly and our waitress was so sweet. For drinks I got the Miami Parrot and my friend got the Piña Colada. We both enjoyed it a lot. It was refreshing. First things first... service was perfect. Shout out to our server Antonio. The place looks like a beautiful garden. It wasn't too hot that day, but Miami is warm most the time, they do have fans through out. They have regular tables and tables with couches by the balcony. The bar has swings inside. So after dessert we had another drink at the bar. For dessert we had crepe with cajeta. Ufff! Delicious... it was a 3 way fight over the ice cream. My amazing wife and I had a fantastic Sunday Brunch there, and we loved it so much that we came back for romantic after-dinner drinks at the outdoor bar and lounge. It's oh so trendy stylish sultry and spacious with many different seating options, like comfy couches, fun chairs and swings. It's more laid back and an escape from the noisy cramped places along Ocean Drive. The DJ music was just right - not too loud or clubby. The guac and chips was great and a huge serving. The place overall has a loungey vibe. The food was really delicious and refreshing. My only reason for not giving 5 stars was that the entire restaurant was pretty open and my group got seated right up against the bar in the busiest area which made it a little uncomfortable. Absolutely love this restaurant! Located close to Miami Beach on the roof top of a local chique hotel. Super cute decor, from outdoor furniture with a little antique and classy vibe. I highly recommend trying to make a reservation way ahead in advance because some weekends fill up quickly. When you call the number no one will answer, so I suggest emailing or sending a message on Instagram. We weren't able to get a reservation but we got there around 1130 and was able to get a seat at the bar with the cutest swing chairs. They were able to offer us the lunch menu and brunch menu because we actually were craving the lunch stuff more. The most popular food item is that crab and uni tostada, which if you are ok with eating those you definitely need to try. Each entree runs in the 20s to 30s. For the crab and uni tostada, omg so simple but yet so full of flavor! Definitely worth the money and everything about it, such a good portion of crab in every bite with fresh juices from zest and the little salt seawater from uni. I'm so surprised to see the tostatda stayed crunchy with all that goodness on top. Next we went for the tuna tostada which does come with 2 and perfect for sharing. For something as simple and tuna on a tostada it was just super delicious and well seasoned, naked to the eye. You'll be surprised that something that looks like tuna on a tosatada could be packed with so much flavor. For dessert we had to try the famous churros and hot chocolate, it's super cute. The churros were cooked perfectly and the hot chocolate were the perfect dipping spot to make your item just a little more fun. The vybe is super chilled here and the staff were so nice. This was a pretty dope spot, to say the least. The food was good when it finally arrived. Maybe there was a disconnect between the waitstaff and the kitchen but overall a cool experience. My group of about 13 people were there for brunch during Art Basel but they had plenty of seating available if they did have a rush of people. The only thing that got on my last nerve was whenever food came out of the kitchen, "Anyone's Food not just our group" the runner would sit the food in the walkway and study the receipt for what seemed like 20 minutes before he actually served someone. Also, while the food sat there sometimes it would be the runner and waiters having a discussion about the orders while standing over all of the food. But trust me if you ever end up here if you get just a drink order the "High Tea"! read more

Four stars for a very classy and well serviced lounge/restaurant that is all open air and spacious as well as beautiful. Definitely a different crowd to the usual in South Beach on a Saturday night. It was really difficult to get a ride to and from the area as traffic couldn't turn onto Washington and many of the roads are blocked off in an attempt to reduce crowds. The food here was tasty but not the most flavorful. However my chicken was cooked perfectly. The bartenders at the bar we sat at were great and the view was great. Over all, I'd definitely recommend this spot for the 25+ crowd. It is a bit pricy though. read more
