Went here Sunday asked for menus they kept pushing buffet. The service was awful. The food was the worst. We ordered chef special fried rice , chicken noodles and chicken curry. The chef special was the worst. It was dried rice with leather like beef pieces and my wife thought the food had a smell where it may have gone bad. We did not eat the chef special. The chicken noodles were little better but not by much and chicken curry felt like diced tomatoes thrown in with Shan masala and chicken pieces that were any thing but thighs, legs or Brest of chicken. We were at this place two years ago and had chicken tikka and it seemed it was left over from previous day. we wanted to give them another chance and we regretted that decision. This is the worst place to go to. I have complained about this place to BBB for over charging as well as old food serving but no result because these people don't care. The very same day, I complained to the owner's wife at the front, she literally yelled at us. She has no manners what so ever. Zero customer service and worst behavior. I would never go there and suggest people to stay away unless you like to get stomach ache and get nothing but disappointment and frustration because they don't care. The Best Indian food on Devon ... Tried almost all the restaurants on Devon. The owner/chef doesn't talk a lot But lets his food does the talking The portions are Huge.The quality of ingredients-super. I am eating the food prepared by Aslam since his days as part-owner/chef of Usmania. Kheer ,Frontier Chicken and Chole are my staple entries ...I tried almost all, including Chinese dishes. Over the years I think the taste and quality remains the same. Restaurants without liquor license has already cut their revenues in half .. We had our wedding catered from here. I've never regretted anything more. We had taste tested twice here, however what was delivered was nothing like what was served to us in the restaurant. It was so spicy, most of our guests where barely able to eat it and at the end of the day we had a lot we had to discard. What made the experience even worse is the service and attitude received from them. We paid for waiters and delivery (separately). Waiters brought the food, set up half of it in the buffet line, the rest set up by my family as they watched. Then on top of it all, they had no serving utensils that were provided. So my father during my wedding had to run out to buy them. Owner claimed it was in a tray... that not the waiters put out nor we saw. The waiters left shortly after all food was put out. When I argued with Serena after the wedding, they stated that, waiters were just there to set up the food. Uhh, please look up the definition. Refused to refund us any money. So many other things went wrong in this one experience. Just a total nightmare. Save yourself the money and go somewhere else. read more

I had lunch at the restaurant with my sister and two of my friends last Sunday. The variety and the quality for food were impressive. Each item was very tasty. We all enjoyed the buffet; also, the the fresh naan and puri at the table. Three of us had been here before and could hardly wait to introduce this food to our friend. Service was excellent! Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place. The service was bad, took 15 minutes for someone to come and take our order. The orange chicken was very bland and had no flavor. The chilli chicken smelled and tasted like spoiled meat! We had to throw the entree out as it was not edible. I'd rather discard it than to risk getting sick. I got food poisoning from eating the buffet on Sunday. The chicken was all I ate that day. And it didn't even taste good.

This place is not consistent which makes me not order or eat from here. I had a great experience when I first ate here. I order the second time and the food was absolutely horrible. So I called it a night and decided to let it go since my first experience was great. However i gave them another chance and they blew it again. I ordered biryani and it barely had any spices in it and i had to find the meat in it. Overall the place is near but the customer service sucks ! The waiters are not professional. One time I went with my friends and the food took an hour so I asked how longer it would take .. This is the reply I got " I don't know. And I am you have to wait " I was not happy to hear that. I don't eat on Devon because I am fortunate enough to have home cooked Pakistani meals, but the buffet offerings at Serena are a great deal. Great value with pretty good food, clean restaurant and polite servers. The fried chicken and halwa puri will keep me coming back here. read more

I keep coming back to Serena. It seems odd to me that there are so many bad reviews here. If I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd say it's the competition. But it happens. Anyway, I am a VERY picky eater. I find most desi restaurants deeply unsatisfying. Not Serena. It is VERY rare for me to find a good chicken karahi. Most Indian restaurants serve me chicken curry when I order karahi. Only the Pakistani restaurants even approximate a proper karahi and Serena is one of the rare ones that does a good job. Weekend brunch is wonderful. Tandoori (which I usually don't like much) is really good. Biryani is very good. The prices I'm not a huge fan of, but at least they give you something on the side. I am beginning to wonder about fake reviews on Yelp. I keep finding rave reviews about rubbish restaurants, and a ton of people trashing good places. read more

Honestly the best lamb chops I have ever ate, they are marinated perfectly and cooked at just the perfect temperature. It matters because alot of the lamb chops I have tried either smell, or are just uncooked. If you want to have an authentic taste of Pakistan most DEFENETLY recommend this place. read more

Interesting place, I wanted to check out some other restaurants on Devon Ave so we came here. They serve Indian, Pakistani, and Chinese food, so that's an interesting combination right there. However our waiter said on Wednesdays they don't serve Chinese. The food was good I got Nehari, plain rice and Garlic naan and my friend ordered Aloo Palak. We were both satisfied we thought the food was fine. The place was quiet and clean however I can only give them 3 stars because our service was pretty slow for a place that wasn't really that packed. We went here on the last day of Ramadan only because our first choice was out of food and closing (Sabri Nihari). The atmosphere was nice and everything was clean. They took our order and was on the table pretty quickly. My only complaint was that the chicken karhai that we ordered was just barely warm. However, we were starving and devoured it. They didn't give much chicken and the curry was very little. So, we told the waiter, thinking he would add a couple pieces of chicken and curry and bring it out to our table. He brought us a plate of curry. Which we gladly sopped up with the remainder of our naans. Cost $19. not bad but I would have like the food to be hotter when served. Food delicious, amazing, this was my 9th trip to Sarena and also i had a party for 125 people there. every one Loved the food. I am a fan for there kheer. I think best Kheer on Devon also in all my friends they all Love Chicken karhai. they are doing a good Job. Also i like what at the owners wife is always there and always smiling. Anyways Good Luck to these guys for doing a good job. I know it takes a little longer to do get the food but thats why you get fresh quality food. taste great. I had BBQ platter with Lamb chops cooked to perfection,melting in mouth kind, Seekh Kebab,they tasted superb just like back home in Pakistan,juicy,freshly bbqed & plain delicious & malai kebab,again awesome & fresh.The naans were soft,milky,hot,puffed up & buttered... The brought us Sooji halwa & fries complementarily. The Nehari was in competetion with Sabris. The environment was good. It's seems like some of the dishes are leftovers from last day Iftar. We went yesterday to try there Iftar buffet and it was a huge mistake. Seekh kabab were dry and seems like they used lot of fillers in meet like basan and potatoes. And especially don't try this place if you like your food mild. Every single item has extra does of green chilled and red paprika. My kids won't able to eat with yogurt because they love spices it was really really hot , fruit chat was mess too with tone of chat masala , I am fan of spices but they used 3 times more making dish a disaster. I went to this place with my family yesterday for the second time. We got the red chicken which had way too much food coloring. The food coloring stained the hands and it wasn't coming off. My son got an allergic reaction from eating that chicken because of the excessive amount of food coloring. He got blisters on his tongue and this happened the second time we ate here. I thought the first time it was from something else but we figured it was from the chicken that he ate since the blisters appeared the next day. I think they need a new chef. We came in to eat while on vacation in Chicago, we usually love eating authentic Indian food but for some reason the food here was far from it. We have been to Serena about four times, not including the couple of times we could not get a spot, because of it being totally full! The Chinese and Pakistani food was very good! Finally there is a restaurant on Devon, nice decor, excellent service, especially from the nice lady at the counter, who actually asks how your experience was before you leave. This cannot be said of some of the totally obnoxious subarban and Devon big name restaurant owners who seem to think they have done us a favor tolerating the business we keep giving them! We wanted to try a new place for buffet on Devon Ave last week. Serena was able to take our reservation over the phone (it gets full on weekends). Snack items were bland. Dinner items were fine. The Nihari, was good. Dessert was something unusal that they labeled doodh dulari, basically falooda noodles with gulab jamun! The gulab jamun tasted good though. They had one Chinese item, which was manchurian, it was good. Chai was good. Staff was inattentive, as is expected in a buffet. But the layout was very inconvenient - to get to plates or move around. It was very over-crowded meaning you can not move out of your chair once you are in, without asking the people around other tables to move out of the way (and they move in an inch). The restroom were clean and the interior decor was better than most places on Devon Ave. I might go back to try ala carte on a less busier day. Their Indo/Chinese menu seemed worth another try. read more
