I am autistic and I'm seeking a dentist who recognizes the frustration tolerance challenges and executive function issues that often comes with that- I'm not seeking one who makes it so I need to contact 3 people to get my information in on the phone and if they bully me about just needing to get information in and trying to do it efficiently over the phone, I can only imagine how my dental appointments would've gone and how much they would've disrespected me about how often I brush or floss. I haven't even seen these people and already they were difficult and the receptionist gave me a lot of attitude and instead of saying "we understand and have a good day bye" she said "I agree" when I just said it isn't a good fit at this time. This lady has no business running an office . I usually try to refrain from leaving bad reviews but I have to let people know this happened so others don't experience this. I'm really sad . My therapist recommended them and I can't use them now. If I am spoken to like a 3 year old over the phone, I can only begin to imagine what my in person experience would've been. Not The place for autistic people as they interpret every tone of voice that is a lower tone to be someone upset with them and they make commands like they're training a dog with you. read more

According to my conversation with the technician on Sep 25th, I came to your clinic just for cleaning my teeth, I didn't want to do any extra treatment and x-ray exam anymore because I did the whole oral exam just a few days ago in another clinic. The technician told me she understood and won't charge me. I did pay the charge for my teeth cleaning and left. After three weeks, you posted a bill to me asking for $78 for extra exam. This is not first time your clinic charged us without reminding your patients and got their confirmation in advance. I still remember that your financier invited me to come to your clinic at 12:00 p.m on Oct 1st. She apologized and promised me she will check the insurance balance of mine and my family members in the further. Only after 16 days, it happened it again. $78 is not much money, but as your patient for last over 4 years, you can't treat us like this way. Your clinic called 911 kicking me out, the police man suggested me keep calling Dr.Swart and sending email. And your front desk said to me Dr.Swart will me back at 5.00 p.m. today, but nobody contacted me just leaving me waiting in the cold outside. I will keep calling Dr.Swart and let her explain to me. I had my first appointment at Serene Smiles this past week and it was the best experience I've had at a dentist ever! I had concerns about a cavity that they did indeed confirm almost immediately. Dr. Swart herself did my exam and cleaning and when I asked when the soonest would be that they could do my filling, they asked if I could do it right then! No anxiety about waiting to come back. I have been going to Serene Smiles Dentistry for extensive dental work. I neglected my teeth due to my fear of dentists and no insurance. Great staff and Dentist. Dr Swart has a great touch and did really good work at a reasonable price. I had put off some dental work with the previous owner of the office due to laziness and cost. When I went to my last cleaning Dr Swart said I should get a filling replaced, they gave me a quote that was much less than the previous one and I decided to go for it. Dr. Shah is hands down one of the best dentists I have ever had (and since we move a lot we have had several). His office is centrally located, his staff efficient and friendly. They are patient focused and work well with all ages. He even went out of his way for emergencies. I have always been terrified of the dentist, but Dr. Shah completely understands why that is, and he always goes out of his way to make sure that I am as comfortable as possible and that there is as little discomfort/pain as possible during any of my procedures. He even builds in time into my procedures to stop for a few minutes and let me relax if I start to panic. His staff is always friendly and nice too! The only thing I would suggest changing is his newer hygienist, Donna. She took over for my favorite hygienist, Lynn, when she moved away. In my honest opinion, Donna seems to talk a little too much, which extends the amount of time it takes to complete a routine cleaning. She is VERY nice and tries to make you comfortable, but her talking was beginning to make me a little anxious. And, I didn't leave the office with my teeth feeling as clean as they normally do - she buffed them with the gritty toothpaste only halfway through her scraping any tartar off, so the second round of scraping and deep cleaning of my teeth negated the clean feeling and taste that I had from the toothpaste she used.
