I wanted to squeeze in a pedicure before the holidays kicked off, so I called MV Hair and Nails…read morearound 9 am asking if they had any opening. The kind lady to answered the phone asked how many people and what time worked best for me. I told her that I was thinking 10 am, but if she could get the two of us in at the same time then 1030 would work. I then asked their pricing. She said $30 regular pedicure, $40 gel pedicure. This was a better price than I had been quoted at other salons, so I confirmed the 1030 slot and off we went. The shop is located in a massive former salon right next to AutoZone. When we arrived, there were signs on the door that stated that masks were required to enter. This was fine by me except for the fact that I only had my kids masks in the car . Luckily, I have a small face and made it work. When we went to enter the establishment, the door was locked, but a lady, who I later found out was Loan, quickly shuffled over and welcomed us in. She asked us to be seated while she finished with a client and I browsed through the standard gel polish offerings. We were then seated at the massage chairs and asked to place our feet in the basins while the water warmed up. Mary assisted my guest with their pedicure while Loan worked on my feet. Loan selected massage setting for us both as the remotes were locked in behind the chairs. This was something I hadn't seen before but if you are someone who likes to choose their own settings, it is something to keep in mind. The pedicure session was great. I am super ticklish and she made sure to not be too rough with my feet. The Cherry Berry color looked exactly how I wanted, so I asked for a gel manicure as well since it was $25. This is where things were not so good. My left hand came out perfectly. I chose Autumn Leaves and Champagne Gold, both with glittery sparkles. My right hand left more to be desired. It is now just over 8 days since my visit and the edges around my cuticles have already lifted and chipped off. The gel color doesn't go all the way to the side edges of my nail and it very easy to see the areas where the polish distribution wasn't even. Overall, I would return. The ladies are very sweet and welcoming. I would recommend Loan for pedicures and Mary for manicures.

During the service, the technician used an electric drill to remove my polish and continued drilling my toenails even after the polish was removed. She was also on her phone during portions of my service and appeared distracted. While drilling my right big toenail, I suddenly felt an intense burning pain. I screamed and immediately told her that she had hurt my toe. She later cut my toe with cuticle scissors and used alcohol on the area. Several days later, because I was still experiencing discomfort, I returned to the salon and reported what had happened. I asked to have the polish removed without a drill because I wanted to see the condition of my nails and did not want them subjected to additional drilling. The owner told me this was "impossible." Ultimately, only the polish on my two big toes was removed. I could feel that something was wrong, but at that point I still couldn't see the full extent of the damage. On August 2, I went elsewhere and had the remaining polish professionally and carefully removed without a drill. Once everything was removed, I could clearly see that my right big toenail was separating and my left big toenail was bruised. I have since been evaluated by a doctor and diagnosed with paronychia. I am now taking antibiotics and doing foot soaks twice a day as part of my medical treatment. What is most disappointing is that I went back to the salon and gave them an opportunity to address my concerns before I knew the full extent of the damage. This wasn't simply a manicure or pedicure I didn't like. I was physically hurt during the service, said something immediately when it happened, returned to report the injury, and ultimately required medical care. My husband unknowingly paid $50 plus a $10 tip that day. I certainly never expected that a routine pedicure would result in an infection, medication, ongoing treatment, and concern about the condition of my toenails. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this salon. I hope they take this situation seriously and review their practices regarding electric drills, sanitation, technician attentiveness, and how they respond when a client reports an injury.
