My fiance and I were visiting from down south. We called the night before to set up an appointment for the following morning. They accommodated us and were very professional. The atmosphere was very nice, and as soon as we got there (we were a little early) they immediately took us to our room I got Swedish and my fiance got a deep tissue. Jennifer and Monica were our masseuses. Both were excellent. My swedish was a medium pressure, but there were spots where they amped up some pressure to get some nasty knots out. I loved it! Walked out super relaxed. The deep tissue according to my fiance was great pressure. She loosened up his upper back a lot, which is what he asked them to focus on. Opted for 90 min hot stone massage with Amy. First 30 min started with a dry massage that was pretty uncomfortable.. eventually oil was applied and used which made things a bit better. Pressure was fine, but the technique was subpar. What was done to one half of the body was not done to the other. Non parallel or structured technique was used. Usually, masseuses do not leave limbs just hanging out in the cold once they're done working on an area, but I kept finding myself having to tuck myself in to keep warm. I've never had a hot stone massage before and so I'm not sure if it's normal to use only 6 stones? When she was going over my back with the stones it was not comfortable at all and also very rough and rushed. Two were eventually placed in the palm of my hand, two at my lower back and two to massage me legs. Overall, the stone part of the massage was only 5 minutes at most. Again -- I believe technique to be the issue. Once face side up, she tried to massage my upper back/shoulder area dry... again. Painful. Scalp massage was nice. I did not like how she was trying to bend my body like a glow stick trying to be cracked. Bring cash for tip or be prepared to tip at pre-fixed prices ranging from $15-$100. Maybe I just did not get an experienced masseuse, but I will not be returning. read more

This is my second time going to Serenity Spa, specifically with Monica. I came across this spa through yelp when searching for somewhere to go for a prenatal massage. Monica's name came up several times so I decided to book with her! She does a great job, I'm so glad I found her! Most recently, I went in at 36 weeks pregnant with really bad sciatica pain. I booked a 90 minute prenatal massage and it was heavenly. Monica made sure that I was comfortable the entire time (not only with the heated blanket temp, laying down, but also with the massage pressure). It even included hot stones- so relaxing! I was extremely comfortable and cozy the entire time. A few days later and I'm noticing that my back pain isn't nearly as bad as it was before I visited Monica. I definitely plan to book another massage with her before baby arrives. Unpleasant Couple's Massage Experience I recently booked a couple's massage at this spa and had an extremely disappointing encounter. 1 therapist started 10 minutes late, and my girlfriend had to wait a few minutes more because her therapist was running late as well. To make matters worse, the therapists never bothered to inquire about our massage preferences. From the beginning the massage was rough, the therapist did not use enough oil to massage, and surprisingly the massage ended earlier than expected. Adding to the frustration, when we were walking out, the front office exerted pressure on me to tip an $40. Do not get me wrong, I am not against tipping, however I am against businesses who put pressure on customers to tip. In my personal opinion I strongly discourage others from choosing this spa. Update. The owner of this location has called me numerous times and has 5 texted me since 10am. asking me "I want to know what makes you unhappy." I'm nearly 5 months pregnant and have been struggling with a sore neck, left hip area, and foot. I booked a 90 minute prenatal massage with Monica and she was amazing! She wasn't afraid to get in there and massage my prego, hard to reach sore spots (hip/round ligament)- which isn't always the case with masseuses. She is also a great communicator and helped me feel safe letting her know if the pressure was a little too much or a little too light. It was important for her to find my perfect pressure and I really appreciated that. My body feels calm and light compared to this morning.
