Sergio came out in late August and gave us a fantastic price for tree removal and two other tree trimming and said he'd be able to come and do the job within 2 weeks. It's mid November and I've been trying to reach Sergio since August getting his assistant only. She told me I was on a waiting list but was elusive as to "when" he would do the job. After more than 2 months I finally was told by this assistant that I wasn't on the list any longer and the job couldn't be completed this year and likely not until spring! A very unprofessional organization. We have root infiltration of our sewer because of this tree and it cannot wait any longer so luckily I was able to find and hire a real professional that's coming in 4 days! Don't waste your time because from what I can tell he gives a great estimate lower than anyone else keeping you on the hook, then picks and chooses which ones he will do! While walking our dogs my Bride saw Sergio's Tree Removal trucks on a job. She came home and told me about them. I immediately went to Yelp to see the reviews. During that process Yelp gave me the option to contact similar services. I contacted several. I had multiple services quote me. Sergio was super friendly and explained everything clearly. He was polite and courteous. Sergio's came in nearly 1/2 what others quoted me at. I asked him if he was bonded and licensed. He immediately produced the paperwork. I felt very comfortable with hiring him. Sergio's Tree Removal did an amazing job at our house. We had several very large trees. His crew worked hard and efficiently. My father and I watched in awe at how quickly they were able to cut down an almost 4 story Ash tree. Many of the trees were dangerous to the house, and enabled critters to get on our roof easily. In one day they cut down 4 good sized trees and trimmed several others. I noticed my neighbor came over and asked their crew for info. An absolute disaster start to finish. This is long but I think it gives you a good sense of why you should never ever hire these guys. I got an estimate in May and scheduled them to come out at their soonest available, July 17th. At the time they said they would work with our HOA to inform everyone who needed to move their cars (parking lot with assigned parking-about 7 cars would have had to be moved) since they know him. I called a week ahead of time to confirm and ask if they had had any issues contacting the guy in charge of our HOA. The woman on the phone says no one has told her anything about that and that's not something they normally do. I said I was told they would and call me back if it's an issue contacting him so I have time to work with everyone myself. They never call back so I assume we're good to go. Saturday rolls around and I sit around all day waiting for them. The office said to expect them at 1 and when they don't show by 2:30 I start calling. No one picks up, no voicemail available, nothing. 4:30 I tried to text the number on the off chance it's a cell phone. I got a response back at 5:30 with oh they don't work after 3, don't know why they didn't show. I said this isn't acceptable I waited all day and no one contacted me. Then I get "oh they came but there was a car in the way" no one contacted me and this could have easily been remedied, or at least I could have been informed. I said I need to know when they are coming to do this job. The office says they'll "swing by" sometime early next week. I said I need to know exactly when or you're going to have the same issue. No response. Monday rolls around and someone rings my doorbell at 7:30 in the morning (waking me up but now we have proof that they are, in fact, capable of ringing doorbells) and there's Sergio's team, complaining that I need to have all these cars moved. I said no, I'm not waking up all these neighbors I've never met at 7:30 especially because I had no notice. So the guy says he's going to call Sergio and holds up his finger in the universal "hold on one second" gesture. I go duck back inside for a minute and come back out and they're just GONE. No explanation. No plan. Just gone. I call and leave a voicemail at the office. I call the other number I have and Sergio picks up, no apologies, no acknowledgment that this isn't okay and just says "do you want this done or not, it doesn't matter to me." Oh and also that the reason why they didn't show up Saturday was that it might rain or the weather or something like that NOT that there was a car in the way. Which, again, should have been communicated. Office calls me back (so they can also make calls). I argue back and forth and say I am available to reschedule Tuesday (today) or Thursday but I need them to take a look at another issue that came up to make sure they can take care of both issues. She says she'll talk to Sergio. Hours go by. I call back in between meetings and ask what's going on and she says "oh I have you down on Tuesday" (news to me) and I ask about them coming by to look at the new issue. She says oh he'll call you when he gets there. I say I'll be in meetings and can't pop out or take calls without notice. She says to just tell her where the new issue is and he'll just look. I tell her I need confirmation before I'll ask my neighbors to move their cars. She agrees. I never heard anything. Sergio has now no-showed me 2 times. Because I really want this done and apparently I still have hope, I prepare and the parking lot is clear on the off chance they actually show. It is now an hour after they said they would be here and I'm looking at 3 times of this terrible place ghosting me. TL;DR: terrible communication, rude, doesn't show up, will absolutely disrespect your time. You shouldn't have to chase people down to give them a substantial amount of money. Go hire someone else who has an ounce of professionalism. It would be worth whatever savings you think they'll give you. read more

They did excellent tree removal work. Safety concious, great cleanup, INSURED, inexpensive, very responsive. Their estimate came in about half of the other 6. Removed 3 forty foot trees and trimmed another. Took 6 hours and charged $1600. Trees were near houses and electrical lines. Left the stumps close to the ground, cut up into 16 inch lengths for firewood. read more

Sergio and his crew just finished removing a 70-75 foot Oak with root rot . They did a fantastic job ! Not only was Sergio honest by telling us the tree was too far gone to save , while others wanted to try and save a completely rotten tree, and wanting over $1000.00 to do so. Sergio removed two 30 foot Ash trees that were diseased due to the Emerald Ash Borer. They had a crew of four and completed the job in record time. Branches went thru the wood chipper and the larger logs were removed from our front yard the very next morning. They were immaculate in their cleaning of the lawn. He had the best price by far when compared to the major tree removal companies. He may not be an Arborist, but he noticed one thing that two other arborists missed. We got 3 estimates to remove a large Maple tree in our front yard. The first two were so high, we decided to forgo the project. Then we got a quote from Sergio's and we were happy with that quote. Yes, they took awhile to get out here, but hey, everyone is busy with outside projects these day! Patience, people! When they did come out, they did an amazing job of taking the tree down, limb by limb. Then the stump, cut and ground out. We were very happy with Sergio's Tree Removal! We have a tree in the yard/alley that had a large branch leaning on the roof of our garage. I believe the branch was 2.5 feet in diameter. The estimate was done the SAME DAY we called them, Sergio recommended we also get the entire tree pruned. The entire meeting process went by quickly and pricing came in slightly less than others. The day of removal, 3 workers showed up with 2 trucks and you barely knew they were there! I had an Ash Tree that an Arborist told me a few years back would die due to the Ash Borer. I called Sergio to get an estimate to remove. Sergio arrived and told that it looks like the tree is actually doing fine. He thinks that the Arborist (can't remember name) that I previously used treated the ground and prevented the tree from dying. Just to make sure, he called an Arborist he worked with (different company than Sergios) to look at it. The Arborist came out and said it looked fine and recommended we treat it for Ash Borers for $90 as it did have a minor infestation. Sergio never charged me a thing. Not only did he lose a $300 job, he prevented me from paying the $300 plus the cost of putting a new tree in. And my existing tree is much bigger than any tree I would have planted. Before the work started my husband also reminded Sergio himself that the stumps will be removed. He agreed. No invoice was sent to us either! We asked when the work would be completed? He started yelling it was done! We live in Evanston and all the quotes came in with a book including the background on each variety of tree in the yard. Sergio came in looked and said "we'll take care of it". These guys do an amazing job. We had trees on the edge of the property near power lines and they ran through them like acrobats. We had a large branch over the swimming pool in a difficult location that they also removed with ease. Scheduling can be a challenge, but the work they do is great & at a reasonable price. I would comment though, the scheduling could have been better. he basically said he would come out the following week to do the job. But he couldn't commit to a specific date or time. I had Sergio's and others come out to give me an estimate to remove a few trees, including one that was rubbing up against the side of my house and was causing my son to need to sleep somewhere besides his room because the noise was so loud. I got a couple quotes and Sergio's was by far the cheapest, so I told them I wanted to move forward with the project and asked them to submit the necessary permit applications and let me know when they could schedule to remove the trees. I have followed up every week since then, which was 7 weeks ago. Sandra kept telling me that it was in the works and she would notify me when they were ready to move forward. When I threatened to take my business elsewhere earlier this week, I received a voicemail from Sandra saying that the permit application had been submitted and she would check in on the status (which never happened). Today, when I met with another tree removal company, I learned that the HOMEOWNER needs to submit the permit to my village and that I need to attach a signed contract (which Sergio's never asked me to sign). So, clearly, Sergio's never submitted a permit application. I am beyond frustrated, as I have now wasted two months in this unnecessarily long process. I was very pleased with our tree removal. The price was very competitive and the removal was professional and clean. Our backyard is small but the team was efficient. They avoided the pipes for our irrigation system but had to cut one of the wires for the outdoor lighting because it was too close to the stump. Scheduling was difficult and I had to wait 1.5-2 months for the actual visit. The actual work of removing the tree and grinding the stump was excellent - men arrived on time, were friendly and efficient, and cleaned up the yard very nicely. Unfortunately it took nearly five months from when I first made the appointment to when the job was complete. Weeks to schedule it and then once the tree was removed I was told the stump would be ground the following day. No call. I called three days later and was told the grinder was broken, would be a week. No calls. I called two weeks later, still broken, we will be in touch. Weeks later no updates of any kind. Finally out of the blue they call and say we'll be there in an hour to grind stump. Before I could even pick up the message they were knocking. Finally we agreed on a day and the stump was ground - the job finished. Good work, but the communication with Sergio's is awful...they don't keep in touch, no apologies of any kind for the ten week delay between the tree being cut and the stump ground. I am in absolute agreement with one reviewer up there who said you must be fool not to call him when you have a tree to remove. We had this beautiful Christmas tree in front of our house that was about 3.5 story high. I was getting compliments all the time and my kids loved it. But it was also animal attraction and neighborhood squirrels loved to nest here as well. What is worse, they started jumping onto our roof and eventually chewed up a big hole. After suffering that impact with one big rain, we took the roof guy's advice and decided the tree had to go. Some members of our family took it personally but as the lady of the house who have been spending $$ each year to keep the tree trimmed in nice shape, i decided to push it forward. Sergio's estimate exceeded my expectations in a good way. Actually i was paying about that much to get it trimmed by professional each year. But sergio's price also included removing the stump. Yesterday his guys showed up and they removed that big tree as well as another small tree we didn't care much about but that was also too close to the roof. They did everything within an hour including 30 min lunch break while they were waiting for another equipment. It was kind of sweet to see them picnicking in our front lawn. They left the job site totally clean and it is almost as if there were no tree there to begin with. The only bad part about the operation is... We were expecting an astronomical quote based on the size of the job, but Sergio was able to do the job in two days at a beyond reasonable price.
