I order the same order every time, carne asada fries and mention specifically for here so they dont put it in a to go dish and end up with soggy fries. My visit was Friday night around 7 pm, upon my order being called out I mentioned...

that I had specifically asked to have my fries for "here" not "to go", and the young lady mentioned thats how it comes out no matter how you order it. I explained thats not true they come on a plate when you order for here, she did offer to plate them for me, but I told her it wasn't necessary the damage was done the fries are already soggy. So I ate my soggy fries disappointed in my car. The fries were okay, would have been much better if they weren't soggy. Im already paying 18 dollars, it would be nice not to get soggy fries. Thank you.

I also tried the carne asada fries and it was pretty good! I love how the portion was pretty large and they give you a good portion of avocado. I would definitely come back any time I'm craving Mexican food! I would say this place...

Ordered fish tacos, received fish i think, but it was smothered in sauce and was cold. Wanted beer battered fish tacos, not sure what those were at all, they were very odd looking and extremely cold. Just not handled with care at...

If you are fortunate enough to come to Serg's when the university is out of session, everything is good. If you visit on a Tuesday (particularly) when the university is in session, you might as well kiss your Tuesday evening goodbye. This is all well and fine if you grab a few beers (or Jaritos) and hang out while you're waiting. Many people here do seem unbothered, but they're usually in a group and are just chatting. But if you're in a hurry (or just hungry), no amount of advance online ordering can help you. (Yeah, we've tried that too.) Today was especially awesome (not). We placed our order at 659. We walked away clutching our order of 1 burrito and 5 street tacos at nearly 830, even tho the online ordering system said it would be ready at 730, even tho the system told me my order was ready at something like 745. It was not. I was told the system will say an order is ready automatically, even when it isn't. The ladies who interact with the customers are very professional and patient with us, reassuring us our order is coming right up. I have no problem with these folks. I feel like the problem is somehow (I don't know how) with the system. Everybody is grinding so hard back there. They could not possibly work any harder or faster. So this is a bit of a conundrum. Usually the food is amazing. But today, Tuesday, I ordered 5 fish street tacos. They were kind enough to give me 6, probably for my wait. Thank you! But let me tell you this fish was INCREDIBLY overdone, and simply tasteless - which makes the entire taco tasteless. I squeezed the lime over it and added some hot sauce, to no avail.

Having had some AMAZING fish tacos at another place just last week (and having had some pretty great fish tacos here, too), this is a spectacular, flaming fail. We love Serg's so much, particularly the flautas and the Cali burrito....

ask? Well, it's the people. I think given the right number of people to operate efficiently things would be amazing. I came in earlier this month and things were spot on, just as they had always been: same wonderful people, same incredible food. Not today. More often, these days, we think very hard about whether we can withstand the wait before ordering, but today was the first time I really felt compelled to write about the food in this way. Maybe they just have to get their groove on. But I sure hope it happens soon.

Been here twice and I stand by the fact that this is the best Mexican food on Oahu!!! They have a taco Tuesday special where tacos are $3 only except for birria tacos. I was craving birria tacos today, so got 2 birria tacos anyways. It was a bit greasy but absolutely delicious! Best birria tacos on this island by far. The meat falls apart in your mouth. I also tried the carne asada fries and it was pretty good! I love how the portion was pretty large and they give you a good portion of avocado. I would definitely come back any time I'm craving Mexican food! I would say this place beats out even some places in California.

We spent the day on the North Shore and didn't get back into town until around 7:30 PM. Since it's nearly impossible to get through by phone, we ordered DoorDash for pickup. I arrived at the restaurant before the order was ready and was told it would be out shortly, but I wasn't informed that they were out of the chile rellenos. Unfortunately, I didn't check the order until I got home and discovered that my chile rellenos had been replaced with cheese enchiladas instead. While the food is normally great, it was disappointing not to receive what I originally ordered especially since by the time I realized it, the restaurant was minutes from closing and they don't answer the phone. I'll be more mindful next time when ordering online, although it's difficult to call ahead to check item availability since I can never get through by phone.

I wanted to eat Mexican food and My daughter want to eat were pets are allowed so we decided to try Serg's Mexican Kitchen. They have 2 parking areas and 2 separate outside seating areas, we got there and you need to order from the counter and they will call your number when your food is ready for pick up. I had the Burrito with chopped chicken plate which comes with rice and black beans. The burrito was dry not moist and no flavor it did have inside fresh vegetables and guacamole and sour cream, maybe it would be better to order it wet with sauce smothered over it. Left half the plate uneaten. The Serg's nacho had a lot of chopped steak and sour cream and black beans, which also was on the bland side with hardly and taste or flavor. Not sure how the other burrito with steak plate was, there was no comment and looking over there was left overs on the plate. Same with the Famous Flauta nothing said and left overs on the plate.

Serg's is definitely one of my favorite Mexican Restaurants on Oahu. We had the taco salad and flautas. It comes with Mexican rice, beans, their homemade salsa, and we also ordered a side of their chips as well. They have adequate seating outside and price is reasonable also.

Love the decor and Mexican feel of this place. Appreciated the friendly helpful service when the cashier gave us answers to what options are most popular and the cook behind the counter handing me extra sour cream at no charge without hesitation, but a smile. We ordered their Elote, chimichanga with pork, and Flauta with Al pastor. All tasted really good with lots of flavor. Portions are huge as well, so bring an appetite. We left feeling full, happy and satisfied. We also will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family when they are seeking close to authentic Mexican food. Place is located in Manoa, near the Manoa shopping center. Go now if you're hungry!

Menu has tons of options and the staff was really welcoming. Parking can be a little tricky for first timers, I pulled into a full lot then backed out and got parking on the other side. Food came out pretty quick and there's lots of space to eat. Kids enjoyed their food and although, I don't have any complaints, it was more island Mex than authentic taste. The rice and beans were filling, but kids wouldn't touch theirs. It wasn't that bad, but was more of a filler than tasty side. Good portions and pretty good price point too, so I might come back and try the menudo when I'm in the area.

Went back to Sergs and got my usual steak quesadilla order. Always consistently good. Served with quac and sour cream. I always love putting both inside of the quesadilla and adding a little salt. Yum!! It's to this day my favorite thing from Serg's Also Happy hour serves them half off! Believe it's weekdays from 3PM-5pm. Be sure to check it out sometime :)

Ordered a lengua burrito from them from door dash! There were no napkins silverware nor salsa! What kind of Mexican place doesn't give you salsa for their burritos! In San Diego , plenty of salsas red and green are given for tacos and burritos! I can't complain because you don't go to hawaii for Mexican food! But was a let down~ I couldn't enjoy my meal without salsas! The food is descent but definitely does not HIT especially if you are going for the authentic taste! Sad let down! Again no salsas? Seriously?

I would have to say this place has the best Mexican food I have tasted on the Island of Oahu. Meat is perfect, only complaint is that wouldn't put avocado slices in my burrito. Even though in the past they have given me that option. They wouldn't even give them to me on the side. I highly recommend you try this place but watch out for the avocado NAZI!!!! lol read more

A small little place for good Mexican Food. I love Mexican food, and I luckily happened to be passing by when this place first opened. . Serg's can get busy and the parking is very limited. The seating is outdoors but covered. Beverage choices are limited to imported Mexican sodas, and other traditional drinks like horchata; this is a BYOB (bring your own beer) restaurant. Did I mention this place is small? The limited size of this establishment has an effect on their speed when they are busy, orders take a little more time. read more

Awesome Mexican food on the island and I was born and raised in California. The salsa yum! They give large portions and they have free parking. Decent price only draw back is that the dining area is outside. This is the only place that will cure my cravings! read more

Serg's is definitely delicious, reasonably priced and convenient. The flautas are truly amazing, the green sauce didn't taste all that authentic however, but the rice had a true Mexican taste almost like my great-grandmother used to make. I was so excited to see that they serve real Coke a Cola from Mexico, so much better than the stuff we usually drink from the US. We will be going back, but hopefully the cats won't be around the patio area while we eat. read more

I came here looking for a fish taco they were all out of fish so the lady said I had to try the chorizo taco.... Had 2 of those and a chicken taco... Both bangin!!! The horchata was really good... This place has the best Mexican food I have had on the island so far! read more

Sergs was recommended to me by several friends but I was disappointed at the quality of the food. The green sauce was not spicy enough and a bit too citrusy. Did not really compliment the bland chicken enchiladas. The beans were also too salty. Overall not terrible, but I am always turned off by places that don't offer free water! read more

Actually, the food was more than decent. We had the nachos, carnitas and chimichangas. They were all good. Also walked over to the chicken wing place and had a side of buffalo wings. Those were yum too (but they charge 75 cents for a small thing of ranch dressing.... what's up with that?). We saw the flautas being made and had instant 'food envy', but we had already ordered so.... oh well, will have to return to test out the flautas. All in all for the $, it's a good deal. Gotta be in the mood for the 'uber casual' scene with possibilities of kids running amok....but, can bring your own beer/wine/whateva and have a good, cheap meal...so...what's to complain about? read more

This place is so-so. I'm from Southern CA, so I'm definitely spoiled when it comes to good Mexican food. Serg's satisfies my cravings, but is no way comparable to the Mexican food one can get in Los Angeles. That being said, though, the food here is pretty good. Decent prices, good portions- wish they had a better salsa bar though! read more

Good food! Really good, but terrible service ...really makes a difference when you're greeted with a smile or a scowl. We were the first ones here, had to wait a few minutes for food but then an hour for coffee (really?!) ...I've worked in food services a while and it is an easy fix: unlock door , start coffee, open with a smile. read more

Why did we go on Cinco De Mayo??????? Needless to say, this place was rockin and Rollin. Ordered the 3 slopes with beef, pork and chicken. Delicious!! The beef was a tad greasy but the chicken was not. Very tasty. My fiancé ordered the Carne asana burrito. Could've been a little bigger but he is a big eater so the size would've been sufficient for lets say a med sized person. I cannot wait to try more things on the menu. Just never on Cinco De Mayo ever again! We literally waited 45 mins for take out! read more

serg's has always had good food but today i had the steak burrito which was even more flavorful than other days which inspired me to write this review. The burrito was dripping with steak juices and marination which was nothing short of paradise. i'm not sure how this place got 3 stars n change but to me thats just ridiculous. 5 mouth watering stars all the way! read more

I took a bus tour and we stopped here for lunch in summer, 2014. It was really good. Seemed very authentic. I'm from San Diego, so I'm pretty picky about Mexican food. I would go again. Very cheap place, too. Wish I lived nearer to it so I could get take out more often. Not sure if it's gluten free or not. I have to eat gluten free so it's important to me to find places that have lots of choices and have knowledge of their food. I was not as careful back then and forgot to ask. read more

Small window based kitchen with outside seating at plastic picnic benches only. Went on a beautiful and breezy Saturday morning. Great Mexican breakfast menu. Had the chilaquieles con huevos with carne Asada and sunny side up eggs--would highly recommend it! My nephew had ridiculous batch of hot cakes drizzled with an amazing caramel leche sauce. Finished off with some strong Mexican coffee. Ready for the day now. read more

*Attention re: Taco Tuesdays* It starts at 4pm! We ordered steak, pork, chicken and fish tacos. My husband and I agreed they need to season their meat better. Taco meat should be flavorful without anything on it, but it tasted bland, we had to put lots of salsa to give flavor. However, we loved their beans, rice, and the red salsa (smokey flavor). We may come back for Taco Tuesdays, but did not feel $3.75 per taco was what we got - expensive for a street taco.... read more

Serg's food is amazing, fresh and decadent and hits the spot every time. But what makes this fun, clean and decorative location is the staff and ohana feel. They are personable and definitely offer service with a smile. You have to try the enchiladas and the taco salad with breaded fish! To die!!!!! This Manoa treasure is a must! You truly feel like you are in Mexico with the flags, music, lights and table cloths! Can't get enough of this place! read more

Friend got poisoned here. Said the salsa tasted strange, and we tried it and it tasted like the bathroom cleaner they use here. He returned the food and the person at the counter said "Does it taste like soap?" he said yes and she replied "Oh yeah we must have used the wrong bucket" WTF!?!? How do you even make that mistake? Mix up the bathroom cleaning bucket and the salsa bucket?? Maybe store the buckets used for poison separate from the buckets used to make food?? Used to go every Tuesday, but I haven't been back since and don't plan on returning. Be careful if you eat here. read more

This is probably my favorite restaurant, they have excellent cashier she was very helpful and told me what was good to eat and what she recommended. There food was very flavorful and the atmosphere was pleasant and fun to be around. I recommend anyone to come to Sergs and get excellent Mexican food!! read more

Wow. i have eaten in their Manoa outside restaurant a few times, but was blown away this time by their fajita salad. Like eating fajitas without all the work. Heavy meat (i had steak) with red and green sauteed peppers and the works and salad, topped with their cilantro salsa! I could go back today and get another--not a wimpy salad, but hearty like fajitas should be! read more

The breaded and grilled fish taco were great. Skimpy on toppings compared to the surfer-style tacos served up everywhere on the island, but huge chunks of well-prepared fish on delicious corn tortillas. The avocado or arbol salsas really set things off. The chili verde taco was just as good - moist, tender pork in a tangy tomatillo sauce. I was disappointed not to find any cascabel salsa, but did have a tall, icy glass of horchata - Mexican-style sweetened rice milk seasoned with cinnamon. It was great to sit outside at the simple checkerboard tables, listening to salsa and feeling the nice Manoa breeze. Definitely a great place to BYOB and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere. We ran into the owner of Mercado la Raza, who raved about Serg's use of the right ingredients - fresh, corn tortillas and authentic queso fresco. Forgot about the recommendation to order Rajas con queso with corn tortillas, but enjoyed the dish nonetheless. The peppers did seem a touch undercooked, but were still flavorful. read more

Acceptable if you're just dying for Mexican food. The food is alright but when I'm eating it I always tell myself I won't go back because of the price/taste value. I like a deal so it just hurts when it's so mediocre and still pricey for a place that isn't a sit-down restaurant. Mexican food is supposed to be cheap! read more

The only reason I wouldn't give Serg's 5-stars is because I'm not a huge fan of their burritos, but their carne asada tacos and churros are to die for! Always great service too! I'm from Central California where the Mexican food is amazing and it's been hard to find any good Mexican food on the island, but Serg's is as good as it gets! read more

this used to be my favorite mexican place in town but after what happened today all i can say is fuck you sergio arellano. you are an ungrateful son of a bitch and i cant wait for the day this business fails or something sets your arrogant ass straight. do not give this mother fucker a single red cent of your money he does not appreciate it. i have been coming here for a couple of years now and have enjoyed the food for the most part. i came here an average of once a week for mexican food, spending 20-30 dollars a pop thats 100 dollars per month 1200 dollars per year average. i will start with me coming in on saturday ordering wings. they were crispy with a good amount of sauce they came with ranch dressing celery and carrots. i was pleased. i came in with my sons on monday ordered the wings again this time hardly any sauce no ranch no celery no carrots. i thought it was odd no consistency today wednesday called at 12;20 to order wings to take out, no one answered the phone, so i had to come in personally to place the order. after waiting 15 - 20 minutes i got my order,. i drove down the street to my friends house because he was on his lunch break until 1pm. when i got there i opened the box and when i tried the wings they were very mushy and soggy and just nasty like they were not cooked all the way. after a couple of bites i could not eat this shit. i decided to bring them back after my friends break, in the mean time i had to eat something my friend made. when i came back to return the shit they had made, i politely told them about the food and the cunt started asking me why i did not bring it back immediately after i left. i started to tell her why then she left and said im going to get serg. so i thought to myself great i get to meet the man behind the food that i always buy. well this fat fuck comes up in my face trying to intimidate me like i did something wrong to him. well i tried to explain to him what had happened and that i could not waste my lunchtime driving his shitty ass wings all over town that is why i came back an hour later. the cunt started yelling at me and he said he would not do anything about the shit food. i could not believe this motherfucker has such a fucked up attitude to his customers i have a couple of businesses of my own and would never treat any of my customers that way. i am pro small business but nobody treats me that way i dont give a fuck how fat or arrogant you think you are. the thing about it is these wings were like 7 dollars and probably cost him .50 cents to make and he wanted to be an ass to me so it will cost him at least 1200 dollars a year from me alone and everyone i ever come in contact with will know what a fucked up experience i had. and hopefully whomever reads this will realise that their hard earned money is not appreciated........awful service serg you messed with the wrong motherfucker i hope you dont think this post is the only thing i got for you. i think i will get every penny i ever spent with you back one way or another read more

Kinda cool because they have something for everyone. From pasta, to Mexican, to wings. I ordered chicken enchiladas and horchata. My mom got the same thing.. We were literally the only ones there, so the food came out in a decent amount of time. However, the horchata took forever! My boyfriend reminded the girl TWICE within 25 minutes and they kept saying it'll be ready in 5 minutes. Anyway, after a total of 35 minutes since receiving our food (and finishing it by now), the girl came out with one warm horchata. After explaining we ordered two, she looked at us blankly and said okay. We waited another 8 minutes for the second horchata :-))))) Honestly, the food was really good and huge. There is NO reason why the horchata should've taken any more than 5 minutes, I know it's the instant mix. How do I know? Mine wasn't properly mixed at the bottom so I was left with this chunky mess. And it tastes exactly like the mix I buy in the blue package. The reason to giving 3 stars is because they have something for everyone, the food came out fast, and it was delicious. Literally hands down! This is the closest place to home. I can't even begin to explain to you! I am 100% Mexican straight out of Las Vegas with Mexican parents. Obviously I grew up with only Mexican food. I been in Hawaii for 2 years and I don't have no Mexican restaurants or taco stands close to me anymore. Back in Vegas you saw a taco truck in every block or a Mexican restaurant (not to mention my family only cooks Mexican food lol) I came here referred by my friend from back home. Omg I fell in love. This is the closest thing to home. Specially the rice. Love the BYOB awesome! Also the location of the place is awesome. It reminds me of the times I would take family trips down to Mexico in car how it literally feels like a stand outside in Mexico on the street. I will remain a regular and will always come here! Two years ago I would have given this place five stars. As someone from SoCal, now living on Oahu, I miss great tasting Mexican food like only mom and grandma can make. In the past year or so the quality of the food here has declined significantly, but the prices have gone up. They don't even carry the bottled Mexican Coca-Cola that I love anymore! The portions (which used to be enormous) are now tiny in comparison, and often the flavor is lacking. After giving up on the main restaurant, I decided to give their little wing shack a try. Bad idea. I waited forever for potato skins, and when I received them they had obviously come right out of a microwave. If you're going to make the effort to come up to Manoa Valley, hit up the pizza shop next door instead. You'll get something tastier and well worth the money. read more

1) Beans, this place uses black totally wrong! 2) Rice, this place uses medium grain not long, I could live with that 3) Chips n Salsa, this place no chips and the wrong salsa if they had chips this is more of a latin fusion with a chef who learned out of a book or school not a Mexican/Chicano that knows the kitchen very well wasn't raised eating home cooked style(comfort food). 4) Salsas this place had to many- that didn't go with the concept, basically out of the book recipes. the horchata wasn't made traditionally, it's made with real rice and cinnamon not whatever in the hell they used. No chile relleno,tamales, chile verde, huevos rancheros, homemade tortillas, etc.. But it is Hawaii and the people here really don't have reference to compare like the rest of us who know Mexican/Chicano food. . read more

I keep trying to give this place a shot. Every damn time they disappoint. Food orders incorrect, refusal to keep condiments stocked, skimming money off of debit card transactions, and quite possibly the worst service for a damn taco stand (I was unaware there could be bad services at these type of establishments until I frequented this spot) of all time. I implore the owners to try and make service more suitable. Has catering to the masses of college bro douchebags and drunken wino sorority-esque female douchebags really turned this place into a quantity over quality spot? Please. I am begging you. Delicious! A Californian transplant, I crave mexican food! I haven't tried other places on the island yet, but this place I've been to three times in three weeks. It's just really good, the help are friendly, the atmosphere is great, accepts cards, is open late-ish. it's just fantastic. My only gripe is the portion size is, meh, normal. Which for me, fills me up and is perfect but I guess we're spoiled on the mainland because the local mexican food places really serve it up (huge portions for an equivalent price to Serg's). I love this place, but just went today and ordered my favorite dish the steak burrito and lo and behold it's no longer steak in there. But it's the thin meat used for teriyaki instead. I gotta say it's horrible I almost tossed the plate but decided to eat as much as I can get down because it's on the pricey side, But I couldn't finish the plate not for a lack of trying. Dude normally we love this place but I won't eat there again. We ordered it on door dash and tonight within thirty minutes my husband was in the bathroom and I joked and said you can't need to poop within 30 minutes of eating?! He said it's the food. My son has now been up for 3 hours throwing up it's 5am. We all felt great all day and now this. I recently tried the street tacos from Serges Mexican Food and found them to be enjoyable. The tacos had a decent flavor and were filling. However, compared to the street tacos I've had in California, I would say these were just good and not quite as authentic or delicious. Overall, I would recommend Serges for a quick Mexican food fix but for a more authentic experience, you may want to fly to the mainland. read more

The enchilada sauce is tomato sauce and it has a tang that actually works! I saw the Serg's Italian sign on the back door and figured they are working with what they know. The atmosphere feels like south Tucson at El Guero Canelos. It gets busy so I recommend ordering online and picking up. read more
