FOOD: 3.5/5 I adore Serg's. I've had several things on their menu from tacos, burritos, nachos, flautas, chips, enchiladas. Just WOW. My personal favorite are Al Pastor and Carne Asada tacos. On Taco Tuesday, it's even more of a killer deal ($2 tacos yes please). I will say that I'm not a huge fan of their rice, but the beans are on point. I would say that their food is good for local Hawaii Mexican food, but doesn't quite compare to some of the stuff I've tried SERVICE: 4/5 The service is always solid. The people who work here are friendly, kind, and helpful. They pick up the phone and never rush you when you're placing your order. LOCATION: 4/5 It's in the heart of Manoa. If you blink, you'll miss it though. I love how it's in a community. That's the draw to this location. There's ample parking, too. I ordered through ubereats first time trying this place, reviews looked good so I thought I'd give it a try. Carne asada plate was really tough and chewy and very bland, quesadillas were greasy, the fried Oreos are overly battered and taste like old frying oil. Upping from 4 to 5 stars. I've tried all the rest, and come to the conclusion Serg's has the best Mexican food on Oahu. Today was my first time trying their vegan burrito. I didn't have to explain myself, they cooked it up quick and yummy. Even the refried beans didn't have the queso fresca on it, although would have still eaten it cuz I'm not a fanatic. But I appreciated their attention to detail. Inside the burrito were sautéed veggies, lots of guacamole, and I believe rice. I had expected beans, but that's ok cuz they were on the side. It was rolled super tight though. The rice and salsa were also perfect. As usual, portions were huge, although my burrito was $12 Everyone else's food in my group looked good too. If I'm ever in the area, I always hit them up. Got lucky no crowds no wait on a Saturday for lunch. Also had parking too. Maybe cuz Boston's pizza next door is closed. As always excellent food very good portion. My gripe is ordering 2 dishes at about $30 and being charged a credit card fee without prior knowledge. Why do you charge a credit card fee? Is all your business in cash? Second gripe is being charged for salsa. 1 salsa should be included with each dish, at the customers request to prevent wastage. If the customer wants 4, then charge. 1 salsa should be included. As much as I have been coming for 1 years or so I found the nickel and diming unpleasant and the cashier hwrself matter of fact about it as if it is normal to charge a credit card fee without informing a customer. read more

Ordered the taquitos, rice, and elote. Waited forever for my food just to get cooked tortillas with barely any chicken. I've been to Serg's many times in the past but it has never been this bad. The rice was at least good but the elote was cold. Very disappointed. I understand it was dinner and was busy but I still paid for quality food. Reconsider coming here at dinner time because you may not get quality food. read more

Used to really like this place but the last few times have been really disappointing. Tonight decided to give it another chance and we waited over an hour and a half for our food and all of it came out at different times. Food was just ok too. I'm not even convinced it would have come out if I wasn't standing by the counter pressuring them. Unlikely that we will be back. It's too bad because I love Mexican and live nearby. read more

Such a quaint cute little restaurant, right in the heart of historic Manoa Town. Their menu here is exactly what you would expect to see a fabulous Mexican restaurant and honestly even then some. Hands-down one of my favorite if not favorite of all time Mexican restaurants we have here on Oahu. The service is always super fast and I find that their prices are definitely on point for the amount of food that you're getting. I always feel like everything that comes out of their kitchen is fresh and I've never worried about the quality of food that I'm eating. Their outdoor seating area is very well covered for those rainy Manoa Valley days but also they have a great take-out menu if you choose to enjoy at home. There is lots of free parking available both in their parking lot and around the restaurant as well. For us we always know this will be a quick and delicious spot when you're craving Mexican food... there's not really any other spots like this in Honolulu. Would definitely recommend anybody visiting our locals in the area who have never checked it out. read more

What a nice surprise to find this cute place nearby home ... the lady at the counter was very patient and helpful in explaining everything and making sure we were all set up ! The music was lively and patrons in line all seemed to be regulars. We tried the different tacos with baked fish, breaded fish, steak and several sides of salsa & guacamole! 8.5/10 Steak nachos and the chicken flauta were good. Too much beans on the nachos though, made them soggy and a bit too heavy. Overall the flauta was a hit. The diced white onions and green sauce on the side are a perfect combo with the fried light taste of the flauta. The flavor reminded me of an indian taco. Very delicious, big portions, and pretty quick. Save some money by going to eat there instead of using third party delivery apps. I would definitely eat here again! read more

The tacos here are the BEST on the Island!!! Tripas and Lengua tacos are mouthwateringly delicioso and my favorite ones to eat. My other favorite plates here are the Carnita Flauta and Shrimp Enchiladas. The staff is super friendly and the location in Manoa is very convenient to go to, with plenty seating and parking. I try to come here at least two to three times a week because of the tacos, but I've been eating here for many years and used to frequent their other location in Waimanalo until they closed it. This place is def the mom & pop type of Mexican restaurant you've been looking for (: Hands down the best horchata I have ever drank! It was more water-based and not as milky as I am used to. They use REAL sugar is it was definitely so addicting. Like cotton candy good! I can't wait to go back! Dude the tacos were good!! ESP the chicharron one! Didn't expect it to be like that! It's like when I found out about the fried chicken skins at pitch in Kakaako. AMAZING! I had the soft version because the lovely cashier suggested it and its by far an amazing experience. Serg's Mexican Kitchen always win! Having a cilantro allergy and loving Mexican food, I often get my orders cancelled by other Mexican restaurant when I express that I have a minor allergy. Serg's always accommodate and make sure there's no cilantro in my plate. They're also kind enough to put the pico de Gallo and guacamole in a separate container for my mom to enjoy. With COVID, the only option is takeout. They have lively Mexican music playing over the speaker to create the perfect ambiance. We ordered and within ten minutes we got our food. Skyrea was such a bright shining star in my day!! We had such a genuinely lovely interaction before I ordered. I know how it can be when you ask someone how their day is and they just start ordering instead of replying to your question. Or when somebody asks you how you're doing but you know they don't really care. Skyrea was great and deserves a raise for those spectacular customer service skills!! I ordered the gordito, not really knowing what to expect. It came out pretty quickly, just about 5 mins. It was a thicker tortilla that had a nice fry on it, and it seemed to be made of a mixture of corn and flour, but I'm not 100% sure. I got lengua, and it had a good amount of lettuce onions, cilantro and cheese. It came with an avocado sauce that was just the right amount of spice for me, mild! I wish I had picked up a packet of salt, because I'm a salt freak, but the sauce made up for it. The lengua was soft and delicious, could use more flavor. I'm sure you can eat this with your hands, but Skyrea told me it could be kinda messy, and I'm so glad I got utensils. This is one of the best Mexican food places on Island and I don't make it out enough! It was a pretty good reminder that I should come back and try some new things. read more

I had been to Serg's before when I was an undergrad for Taco Tuesday but it had been YEARS since I returned... so I was pleasantly surprised to find myself back and NOT on a Tuesday for tacos. Instead, I returned for a massive chorizo breakfast burrito that came with a side of rice and beans. DELICIOUS. Flavorful. Hefty amount of chorizo and eggs. Generous serving of rice and beans. I was FULL. I lasted all through the Maunawili Falls hike on that meal and didn't even eat a lot for dinner. That should tell you something about how filling that is...... A star goes to the quesadilla so without that this would be 2 stars. The menu has different prices than the actual prices. The service was just okay. The food here is always amazing, but the way they work the kitchen isn't as much. Today I ordered 3 chimichangas(1chicken,2birria) the chicken and the first birria one were rly good but the other LITERALLY CAME WITHOUT ANY BIRRIA MEAT. This isn't the first time something like this has happen every time we order online AT LEAST one thing comes wrong sometimes missing something or sometimes a COMPLETE different order, we never called to complain because we assumed they were really busy and it was a mistake, but today we decided to drive 20minutes there and back we waited for abt 20-30mins for our food and we drove back home to eat and the other one was literally missing meat which is crazy because we also have to pay EXTRA for the birria meat. We've ordered pickup from here on a few occasions. Nothing amazing, mediocre spectrum, but generally content. No negative discernible event worth mentioning until now. Ordered take-away. Came home and upon discovering, they gave me an incomplete order. Called to verify and the cashier had admitted fault--blamed the printer that generates the order on a separate ticket to deflect her incompetency. I had suggested that they coordinate a delivery service to send my remaining order, but they cannot facilitate such a request. She instead offered me two options: I can redeem an intangible "meal voucher" for my next visit (legit?) or pickup my missing order. I opted for the latter, and precisely instructed her to "throw out" the sitting food, and prepare a fresh meal. If my distance had afforded me convenience, it wouldn't have been an issue. When I arrived, I was quite dubious as my food had been placed distinctly apart from the other awaiting pickups. I was assured that the food was remade, but when inspecting the styrofoam bottom, almost no heat emanated from it. Opening the lid confirmed my suspicions, as the food resembled the cold, soggy, unappealing appearance similar to leftovers. I am disgusted that I am forced to wait even longer now. But it's ok, because I got 1 FREE churro (ordered 3 meals) for this minor inconvenience! Totally not insulting! Additionally, we ordered the Garlic Shrimp Plate--our shrimp was irrefutably different than what others have posted--smaller size (21/25?), no-shell, no-tail. This is a great place in Manoa!! There is ample parking on both sides of the kitchen, and it's right on the main road so you really can't miss it!!! I also appreciate that you can order online through Grubhub for pickup or delivery. You could also call to place an order. My boyfriend and I usually order through Grubhub to pickup. When you arrive for pickup you can go to the window on the right to pick up. Just let them know the name on the order and how the order was placed...phone, Grubhub...and your yumminess is in your hands!!! I have tried a few choices from here and right now my favorite is their taquitos!!! I like this because it's just the 3 taquitos, with the amazing sauce and a salad topped with their pico - which for me is a little on the spicy side. To say that I love Serg's on Taco Tuesday would be an understatement because honestly, what's not to love about THE yummiest $2 tacos in Honolulu? Conveniently located on East Manoa Road, this place is a hit with people of all ages, especially UH Manoa students. I mean, what's not to love? Serg's is a quick walk from UH - 15 minutes max if you cut through Saint Francis in the back, and a less than 10 minute shuttle ride from Varney Circle on the Faculty route. They have a fair amount of parking stalls... and if you can't find parking in their lot, there's plenty of street parking. The food is super yummy. They give generous portion sizes, and everything is decently priced. It's a college kid's dream... cheap and delicious food that is close to campus. My boyfriend decided to opt out of celebrating taco Tuesday this week by ordering a steak picado instead of tacos; I however, decided to celebrate taco Tuesday to its fullest by ordering their carne asada, and grilled fish tacos. Although initially disappointed that my boyfriend didn't get tacos like I did, I instantly forgave him when our food was quickly served and I sampled some of his steak picado - great choice babe! This place is pretty popular and can get crowded during their lunch and dinner rushes, especially on taco Tuesday.
