My family picked this restaurant for dinner tonight because we thought that we finally had a good restaurant to dine at on our side of town. As it is right now, Luckies Thai was the only place for us to get an excellent meal, and it still is. Serial Grillers is disappointing and could have possibly made me ill. I'm writing this at 0300 am after eating there at 8 pm and my gut is hurting and I'm nauseated. I sensed something was off when the food did not come out at what I thought was an appropriate temperature. But let me start from the top. When we entered the restaurant, we thought everything looked okay. People were dining and it wasn't too busy. It was Tuesday night around 8 pm. We looked at the food menu and then looked up at the Beer Board hanging over the register. Upon ordering, we find out that the Beer Board was outdated and had none of the options we requested off the board. The girl at the register said it hasn't been updated but that she had a paper beer menu we could look at. So we read it, and guess what, that too was outdated. She apologized and laughed at little (nervous laugh) and made some suggestions based on our likes. We went with it and sat down to wait for our food. If you can't maintain your Beer Board then take it down. Many places with large beer selections use a chalk board or none at all. Just as long as we can set the spouts. We picked a corner in the restaura bynt where there appeared to be a large party that was just finishing up. We took a seat and started drinking our beers. My beer was warm. Ugh! We're not in Germany. Most of us want cold refreshing beer. When our food arrived, we were missing some items and one of our items was wrong. Also, the food was not hot. I couldn't even say it was warm. The tater tots were bland and cold with no color. We asked for no chipotle mayo, but there is was all over the food. The pastrami sandwich was over the top salty, almost inedible. The food was just horrible. Even more concerning was what we saw after the large party left. The tables were cleared and reset, but they were never wiped down. NEVER. We sat there watching the baseball game for about an hour and none one ever took a wet towel to any of those tables. It was disgusting. We could see the old food and filth from where we were sitting. We want to have a good place to eat on our side of town. Many have tried to make it in the very spot this restaurant currently is and they have not survived. It's unfortunate, but unless Serial Grillers steps up their game, we won't see them here for too long. Hire more people. Train them regularly. Keep up your Beer Board or remove it. Make food safety and cleanliness your first priority. Get our orders right. We want you to stay, but not at the expense of our health. read more

Three of us went to Serial Griilers for dinner recently. This was our first visit. I found it a little chaotic, but definitely see the appeal of the fast-paced upbeat atmosphere. The person who took our orders made a rather big blunder and included a 4th meal with our order. (I thought my total bill was too high, but due to how busy the order counter was, and how long we all were waiting, I had simply paid the total. ) When the wait staff brought 4 meals to our table of 3 we discovered the error. Our wait person was bewildered, had no idea how to fix it, so we said we would just take it home and she bagged it up for us. I ordered a Leatherface burger with avocado. First I'll say the meat itself was cooked perfectly, but they were way too generous with the condiments so I ended up trying to scrape some off. Though the menu offers "avocado," it's not slices of avocado but rather an avocado spread that doesn't have much flavor, so I tried to scrape that off as well after paying extra for it. Dinner companions had a Boston Strangler cheesesteak and a Taking Lives panini. They said each were very good and left no crumbs behind! The cheesesteak had tender cubes of beef rib eye, grilled onions, and blue cheese. The Taking Lives panini was spicy (as desired) and grilled perfectly. The table shared both onion rings and fries which were both very good. Value was average. Portions were adequate. We aren't beer drinkers, but they have an extensive beverage list that most diners appeared to enjoy. We may be back, but may do takeout instead of dine-in. The beef is flavorful and tender. I recommend asking them to go light on condiments and skip the "avocado." This rating was a little difficult because the quality of the food itself was good, but the overuse of condiments obscured this. I would rate the food quality 4 to 4.5. Service, however, was closer to a 2. There should be more than 1 person taking orders in a restaurant this size, and that person shouldn't be doing beer tastings. They have a separate register for beer orders (and no one in line when we were there). There should be a read-back of orders to ensure accuracy (at which point I would have caught there were more than 3 meals), and servers should know what to do when they discover errors have occurred. read more

I ordered the Dexter and my wife ordered the Sub Zero. Both were delicious and came with quickly. We also ordered the 39 and 15 draft beers which were great as well. Staff is polite and informative. Order your food up from and then sit. Combat veterans: this place has 3 exits. So if you're like me and like to have your back to the wall it may be a little difficult for you. Other than that no crowds, not crazy loud and football. 41/2 stars! Wife wasn't particularly impressed with the coleslaw but the potato salad rocked my world. GO BLUE! read more

Good experience overall. Parking is ok (old Chuys location on Houghton). Bathrooms were clean. Environment is simple. Menu is fun to look over. Grab a menu as you walk in and it's self seating. Food was nice. Tried a cold tuna sandwich "kiss the girls" with French fries . read more

I visited this place during lunch time, if you never been to a serial grillers, it's a stand in line and order your meal, grab a number and food will be brought to you by the waitress. I order the Philly Cheese Steak, it was really good but on the small size. From looking around their specialty is their hamburgers. And not just any hamburgers, we are talking huge three patties monster type burgers. Maybe next time it's hamburger time. read more

WHO DOES THIS!!!?! SO, my husband and I went yesterday because of the GREAT reviews and its new in our area, always willing to give the locals a shot. When we showed up, our good friends show up at the same time and sat next to us at the bar. Great start....got the menu, not too many options but not to little options, good sign. Beer menu HUGE....for me too many options and overwhelming. Big menus will slow your business down because looking through too many options. I felt like I had just read a short novel when I was done. Atleast there is variety for the beer connoisseurs. Good thing my friend pointed out that they have PBR for $2.50 to $3.00 ( somehow over looked that part) on tap which is way cheaper then the craft beers and lighter for those who cant handle the richness of the crafts. The prices were somewhat decent but now days you cant expect deals anymore. They charge a lot for fountain drinks but alot of business do this now. Restaurants make a huge profit off of fountain drinks it almost costs the 15 cents a glass this is why Mc Donalds charges only a $1 for their sodas. We saw the hamburgers being served and they looked fantastic. SO after 20 minutes of trying to figure out what we wanted my husband got a cheeseburger the Red John. I wasn't too hungry so I wanted to order to go. This is where the "Who DOES THIS!" come in but ill get back to that. My friends had the wings, salad and cheese steak. I was a bit leery about my friend ordering the cheese steak because I have had that same thing at a different location and it had hardly any meat on it and I wanted to warn him but I thought maybe it was just a bad cook who made mine. Actually, when I had that sandwich at that time my daughter had one too and I remember her sandwich had hardly any meat on it as well. Anyways, My husbands cheeseburger was really good, potato salad was good but small, maybe two bites and came already enclosed in a small clear container. My friends boyfriend ordered the steak sandwich which was embarrassing! It looked like small pieces of steak-ums, barely a handful and I dont see how SG dont see this? I should have warned him, and the look on his face...I started to say something and he said, we'll critique this later. Apparently they do go by portion control, which I get...but really? Go to Lukes or Kenny Ds and see what a real sandwich looks and taste like for the same price. This was one reason I skipped over the sandwich part because the chances of having a half ass sandwich, my gut feeling was right. My other friend had the salad and wings. The salad was kinda wimpy to, I think she got the small to be fair but for 6 dollars after seeing it? The wings look ok, good price for wings no question but she really didn't say much about the wings and shes a big wing person. She said they weren't crispy but soggy and that's a hard thing to get now a days are crispy wings. SO, I go to place my order TO GO, I ordered the Red John because my husbands looked amazing. As I ordered I said Id have the potato salad over the coleslaw, WHICH COMES WITH THE MEALS. Then she say, it will be a dollar charge for the potato salad because its "TOGO".. HUH? I didnt say anything at first because I was confused, I by default rationalized common sense... thinking maybe I misunderstood her thinking I was paying for the to go box, plastic forks and knives, and the bag...that makes more sense right? HA! I asked my husband, did that really happen and he said, it sounded like thats what she said. So I asked her one more time if I heard correctly and she said yes. She said she thought it was odd too but thats their rules. I said "So, I have to pay extra, for this small container of potato salad that COMES WITH THE MEAL??, just for it to leave the building?" Its not like they were charging me for the container the salad was in because everybody gets their premade potato salad in a to-go cup with a lid? lol! someone help me out here. WHy is this even a question and why am I wasting brain cells trying to rationalize this lol! I was thinking I should just have them bring it to me, take a bite and then ask for a to-go box. By the way, they brought my friend a togo box to take her wings home and when they brought my hamburger wrapped in foil in a paper sack with my tiny potato salad in a togo cup with a lid which is how they serve it at table side too? So, does this mean, if I eat in and just want a cheeseburger, I could ask them to comp me a dollar for the potato salad because I dont want it? I also heard that they charge for condiments but not sure because we didnt get any and it could be something they did at one time...but, who does that too. SO, this being said, I think they arent very smart business wise being cheap. If we go we will stay safe and stick with the burgers and the PBR. We were so hoping for a nice place near home. We sat at the bar and the first thing that I felt was odd is that the girl asked if we'd be running a tab and asked for a credit card before we ordered anything. Then not one domestic beer. I can appreciate that people like craft beers, maybe have one or two domestic options. My husband specifically asked for no onions.... comes out full of onions. Then when the girl gave my husband the bill she said " whenever you're ready Freddy". I felt that was odd...... but it did make me think we would have enjoyed a meal at Freddy's much more. read more

I've heard about this place for a long time - from food truck, to midtown location, to expansions. Finally decided to try this place out to see if we might become regulars. Since moving to the Vail area, I've learned how sparse the food scene is when you're looking for good, local eats. We went on a Saturday night and this place was absolutely bonkers with people. My group of five snuck a table, filled up on a few drinks from the extensive beer/cider menu and perused the menu. Plenty of burgers, sandwiches, and other foods to choose from which makes this place family and group friendly. The food took a while to come out, but I think that's to be expected when there's a line out the door. I tried the honey garlic wings, the Leatherface burger, and the Manhunter sandwich. The flavor of the wings is VERY good. I just wish the wings were a bit bigger though you do get 8 of them. The burger was solid; the patty a bit thin, but you can upgrade the amount of meat if you desire. I likely would on a return trip. The sandwich was decent, but I wouldn't get it again. It was a bit bland. The tater tots are crispy and yummy, especially dipped in the honey garlic sauce from the wings. I wouldn't go back specifically for the food, but I will go back when I want to go out nearby the house and relax with good drinks and good company. It might help to think of this place like a brewery - long list of beers to choose from and decent food to keep you full. read more

Serial Grillers is quickly becoming one of our favorite places to eat in the SE/Rita Ranch area of Tucson. Over the course of several visits, we've had a couple different types of pizza, a burger, a cheesesteak & wings, & everything we've tried has been delicious. Their staff is very helpful & friendly, too. We also enjoyed when they had reps from Dragoon Brewery there offerings samples of their locally crafted beer. I'm honestly very disappointed in the service today. I called in an order for pickup (after being on the road for 8 hours straight). I was told that my order would be ready in 15 minutes. About 20 minutes later we arrived and our food wasn't even started. Thee were very few customers there. You could see employees playing and joking in the kitchen. The girl at the front asked if the pick up order was ready...the cook says "oh yeah...be right up" and you could see him make it. When it came up the pizza was wrong. Hubby was too agitated and hungry to say anything. And the entire time we were there (roughly 20 minutes) there was an older woman waiting for her order and a few hamburgers sitting on the warming counter untouched... I'm sure one of the few customers at the tables was going to get a cold dinner. I'm really not sure if we'll be back after this. As good as the food is, the service today was terrible. Came in and had the Psycho sandwich - what a great mix of flavors. Not messy, great kick from the peppers, steak was excellently seasoned. The food was not disappointing, though the service... I suppose they solely rely on the food to sell itself. Most of the night crew on this lovely Saturday evening seemed miserable. Maybe they either one, don't want to be there or management is lacking in motivating them on how to be friendly. One girl did a drive by when dropping the food. "Here's your wings" and kept it moving, which were incorrect. God forgive me for telling her so... thought for a quick second I was the one that made the error for goodness sake. I won't return. They have paninis and a vast variety of cheese steak sandwiches. My favorite was the California cheese steak. It's a twist on a California burrito with fries and pico on top. There are no words to describe this sandwich. Delish is all I can say. As for the beers, there are so so so many on tap. I love sour beers, and they have a good variety on tap. Each one exquisite. The atmosphere is modern and spacious. Looks clean and crisp inside. This place is local with numerous locations. I love local places, and this one tops them all. Check them out. My only concern is the maintenance of their bathrooms they are in poor condition, they not cleaned the 10 times I been there. Overall 100% better than Chuys that occupied the space before. I really wish they served a couple domestic beers for the ones like my husband that don't like the other beers. And having some liquor would be nice too. I had a personal pizza that was great and my husband had a burger he was really happy with. Great place to eat. The hamburgers and pizza are great. I would recommend the food to anyone!Only drawback to the one in rita ranch is sometimes 3 or 4 people waiting in line and still only one cashier. Sometimes one cashier will leave and another comes up and you're in limbo as to where to go. Love there to be 2 cashiers to always take care of the customer and keep the line moving even if there's only a few people in the line. Just want to reiterate how great the food is! read more

I took my son to lunch and spent $32 there. I ordered a water. Didnt see water on soda machine so filled it with soda. Wandering waitress came over and chastised me " did we not give you a soda cup"? I said "no i wanted water but didnt see it up there" so she said " it says water and it has a little arrow pointing down". Wow. Thanks for making a customer feel like an idiot. Great food but miserable seating. Our guests were asking to leave as soon as food was eaten. Only one of us could read the small strange fonts on menu and poor lighting didn't help. Tucson is a town filled with Seniors and we sure weren't taken into consideration in this place. read more
