We were new homeowners and had only moved in for less than a month when our AC unit went out. It…read morewas an ancient unit that certainly needed replacement, but when we called The Right Choice, they arrived with the pushiest, sleaziest salesman you could imagine. He immediately insisted (more like demanded) that we needed new ducts as well as a new system. When I told him that we wanted a unit with a higher SEER rating for energy efficiency and lower electric bills, he dismissed my suggestion as if I was stupid for even asking about it. My guess is that they have some sort of deal with Goodman, because that is the brand that they forced on us. What was the grand total you ask? Over $20,000. And that was 8 years ago! Not only did they NOT replace all of the ducts (like they said they would) their installation was the most Mickey Mouse-looking trash I have ever seen. They must have put at least 5 pounds of mastic tape around the unit to try and seal it up and it still leaked cold air after a week of use. These are scam artists masquerading as professionals. Even after that ordeal was over, they would call us constantly, year after year, telling us we needed to pay for a tech to come out and service our system. Besides hosing off our compressor unit with our own garden hose, the only thing their tech ever did was aggressively try to sell us on more services. They never once opened up the unit to clean the coils. They never once topped off the coolant. They never even cleaned out the condensate pipe. 8 years later and I am paying the price with outrageous cooling bills, a leaky unit that is more mastic than air conditioner, and a clogged condensate line that I had to clean out myself (it took about 5 minutes once I had the right tool). Do not let these people into your home. There is a reason that you see so many one-star reviews among the four and five-star ones. Do not disregard those reviews (they are real people). This company will take advantage of anybody who is not particularly knowledgeable about HVAC. They are pushy and rude; they will try to sell you products and services that you do not need. They will continue to harass you with phone calls for years afterwards. Stay away. Stay far, far away.

It felt high, so I got a few other opinions. Express quoted 600-800 but I really appreciated how genuine the owner was about the work scope, so we had them take a look. it ended up being 780 plus tax so 835, which is outside of the quote but not unreasonable. and obviously 50% cheaper than the first company. They offered to install a new part for my non-working gravity heater the next day at $3,700.00 and orally guaranteed it for 10 years with the promise of a fix for two years after the installation if anything went wrong. Shivering, I happily accepted the word of the technician. I am repenting in leisure. When the work was done, and the technician, Zack, told me that, if I wrote a good review on Yelp, they would pay me $25.00----in the form of a gift certificate to eBay, Amazon or an online company of my choice---I got a different idea about all those great reviews. The heater stopped working 6 months later. Fishing out the invoice, I saw there was no written proof of a guarantee. I took the tech at his word and hadn't checked. Again, I was cold! When, after many calls and an email, David dispatched a second tech from Express to assess the problem, he told me that water was dripping on the new part and that the water had ruined it. He charged me $80.00 for coming out, saying the failure was my fault. None of this was written down. The technician said he could get me another part for $3,700 or install a different heating system for $15,000. Either way, he said, the $80 would be applied. Now the nickel drops. The dawn breaks, and I hire an inspector to tell me whether there is a leaking pipe that I need to repair. The inspector told me there was nothing leaking on the new part, in fact there were no water pipes anywhere near the furnace, only gas pipes. He also said that the technician had installed a red bypass wire, a temporary fix at best. So this review. To alert others. 1. Ask for a written guarantee. 2. Use a credit card so you have recourse. 3. Read the invoice before you sign. 4. Ask to see a photo of the area. 5. Do the opposite of what I did. I'm still cold. P.S. to Cassandra, business mananger, who left a note after this review. This is not a mistake. My invoice number is 4623 and I saw Zack on November 4, 2024. I saw the second technician May 30, 2025. My 22…read moreyear-old HVAC died in the dead of summer, and after working with another service provider I called Express A/C for a second opinion and quote to either repair or replace the unit. They inquired about what the issue was, and I appreciated their willingness to hear the journey I had the previous week with the other service provider and the issues the system had. Zach came out the next day and was so informative and honest. He looked at my HVAC unit and we decided it'd be best to replace it. Within 30 minutes of him arriving, I had a very reasonable quote for a high-quality unit. I have become so wary of home service providers trying to rip me off. Zach and Express A/C did not rip me off at all, and instead gave me a price that hit the mark of what I thought was a reasonable price, if not under - especially given the prices of things right now. It is always so refreshing to come across a service provider like Express A/C that has integrity, high-quality service/experience, and reasonable pricing.
