I cannot express enough how satisfied we are with the exceptional service we received from Nice and Cool! Our gas wall heater suddenly stopped lighting up despite the pilot still being on. We reached out on Yelp at 8pm for quotes and they immediately responded with several back and forth messages to set up an appointment for the next morning. I used Nice and Cool for a new AC/heating system five years ago. I spent somewhere around $20,000. A couple of days ago the motor stopped working and while the part was under warranty, I had to pay $600 for labor, which I thought was very unfair. The unit is only five years old and should not have broken down. My other heating/AC system was over 20 years old when I finally replaced it. I just feel like $600 for labor was excessive and I'm disappointed. I've always had a good relationship with Eli, the owner and have liked them very much. I would rate my overall experience with them as a five star but this time I have to give them a three because they fixed it promptly, which I was very appreciative of, but I felt that the price for labor was excessive. And, by the way, a unit that is less than five years old should not have the motor go out. read more

Bottom line is we are extremely happy with the service and product. We had a complete HVAC replacement. We received four quotes and they were $9,000 cheaper than the highest quote from a Costco contracted installer. The only inconvenience was they said that it would take two days for the work but it took four. With that said, the workers worked a solid four days and did a lot more work that I expected. They took out the old system with all of the exterior ductwork. They were very clean, respectful of being quiet, and were out of the way. The baffling part was I negotiated/haggled a bit to upgrade the equipment and to have extra work done on the roof. He didn't charge me for any of it. We emailed him and brought it to his attention but he refused to accept more. His response was, "I can't sleep if I overcharge people." Too good to be true. read more

This was the third time Eli repaired my AC. He came over within hours of my call and repaired it right away. I live in a townhouse, and my AC unit is on the roof where the homeowners are not allowed to go up, so anyone can tell you whatever they want, and you are at their mercy. So, his honesty is even more appreciated. We're having the historically hottest week in LA, and sure enough, my AC broke on Saturday. Since I have an old dog who doesn't take the heat well, I had to get it fixed asap. I looked for my past records to find his info, but couldn't, and a neighbor recommended Abel from All Temp Mechanical Systems (he's not on Yelp, so here's my attempt to warn consumers). I reached Abel on Saturday, and he came out on the next day, went to the roof and told me I needed a new unit for $5,000! He insisted my unit was 20 years old. I knew it was between 10 and 15 years old, but along with Eli's info, I misplaced the entire file on my AC. After the conman left, I continued my search, and I finally found the whole file in a wrong folder, in which I found Eli's contact info and also that my unit is 12 years old! Worst experience ever. Technicians arrived at end of 2 hour window, blew circuit breaker for whole unit, denied doing that, then they said they couldn't service HVAC because there was no power. They also made up a fake model number for the HVAC unit and said they would not be able to find a new motor because HVAC was too old. Then they left, leaving me with no power! I had to call their boss who made them come back to reboot building circuit breaker. Now that I had power they said they had no time to look at HVAC! Had this company replace a heat exchanger that was under warranty. They told me it would take 3 guys all day and more parts to replace. It took two guys two hours with no additional parts. They sent me an invoice for over $2K (cost of labor for 3 workers and parts). I've emailed and called them many times to let them know they were overcharging me, but no one will return my calls or emails. They just keep sending the same invoice. I even called the HVAC manufacturer, and they said they paid Nice and Cool for the exchanger. Very aggravating experience. Still no resolution. read more

I have 3 gravity heaters and of course when I call someone I don't know, the last thing I want to hear is that the huge gravity heater (over 50 years old) will have to be replaced - and I know it has a new gas valve and the pilot light was on. Our living room faces the sun and gets too hot in the afternoon and needed more cooled air. Their technicians were prompt, curious, and had shoe covering. They used COVID-19 masks for the duration of the work. They spent time adjusting the valves until we were satisfied the two bedrooms were comfortable. Terrible service. I hired Nice &cool to trouble shoot a heating and cooling unit for my customers salon in Santa Monica, ca. The technician stated he could not diagnose or fix the unit until he performed a pressure test. I agreed so we could get the system up and running for the salon customers comfort ( it has been in the upper 90's). I paid over $700 for the system to be pressurized. A few days later the tech returned to check the pressure. He never explained what was wron or what needs to be done to fix. They abound and me completely. The invoice (that I recived after calling weeks later) states they are waiting for the manufacture to quote them a price for the part. I called a Hvac supplier (heating and cooling supply, which these guys use) they had the part in stock in van nuys. These guys obviously just don't care about the customer. They made $700 for a simple hour of work for 1 guy. They are killin it. The service was performed oct 28 2019. I finally received the invoice nov 21 2019. It is now December and I have yet to here from these guys. Eli is proving he didn't care about his customers. Now I am starting to question the technicians honesty and ability. It is possible he is doing this because he doesn't know what he is doing. I will now have to hire another company to retest and FIX the unit. Word of advise, be careful with these guys. read more

I had a "Complete system change out", which included all new ductwork for over thirteen thousand. I caught them on multiple occasions not replacing the ductwork and in some cases, putting duct tape on the old ones. (The last time, I found out by making a repair and opening one of the walls downstairs.) After coming back multiple times to replace ducts that they should have replaced from the beginning, I simply no longer trust them. I'm sure the owner will come here and defend himself by stating that I told him to only replace the ducts in areas that he could access and that I didn't want to pay to open the walls. I know this, because that is the lie that he told American Express when I disputed part of the charge. Why in the world would I thousands on all new plumbing, which requires opening all the walls, then somehow not want all of the ducts replaced? Where is the contract stating that I did not want all new duct work, yet am somehow willing to pay for a complete system change out? To top it off, when I asked him for the permits that he was supposed to have pulled, I found out that he didn't even do that. Thankfully, I was having other work done for the remodel and had permits and inspections that covered this. All of my other contractors were honest and decent, except this one. He should really be ashamed at lying the way that he has. read more
