After our washer overflowed and flooded the first floor of our home Servpro handled everything from drying up the house, removing baseboard and drywall and making sure everything was dry before they could have their third party contractor come in to rebuild and paint. My house was put back together in about 2 weeks and looks like nothing ever happened. Any concerns I had were always addressed. There was an issue with the painters tape when brought up from my wood floors as it took off the varnish. But Servpro brought in their best floor guy and let me tell you he worked his magic and I couldn't be happier with his work. I can't tell their was ever an issue. They took 10 days longer than estimated to complete the job of contents cleaning. They had me waiting for 6 business days in a row for my "final" delivery only to receive partial loads of my "cleaned" contents. Most of it was clean but there was one load that clearly wasn't. They completely lost the special screws to a crib they took apart. They scratched our dining room table, a wardrobe, a shoe cabinet and the crib. They didn't use any newsprint when they packed my kitchen, literally stacking all of my fragile ceramics and glassware in boxes and sealing them up with some blue painters tape that was among my belongings. I'd say they broke or chipped about 30 percent of my fragile kitchen stuff. The boxes they used were recycled from a another job and smelled like smoke, making my house smell like it until I could get rid of them. When they said they were done, after the supposed LAST load I went back to my old place and saw trash piled up, including their old lunch along with a shattered lightbulb, various items still mounted on the wall and a large tv sitting in the middle of the living room. Done? Eh, no. I withheld my second payment until the job was done. They got sloppy at the end and ripped things with screws directly out of the wall instead of unscrewing them. This caused the plaster to pull outward and crack in over a half dozen places. But then after they were paid and after the job was really done I was doing a final walk though of my old place for the landlord and found a BROKEN WINDOW that they covered up. I knew they did it because it was a second floor window with a child safety device that was forced open from the inside. I would have accepted it as an accident with an apology but they took obvious steps to cover it up by removing the glass and safety device and then CLOSING the shade to cover it up. That was cowardly. The entire time i was kissing Tony's butt (he had my stuff) and being patient ... so I know it wasn't my attitude that made the job difficult. I would wait without complaint and be cool about the problems. I did crack and vented to the poor office manager. The owner was nice. She brought me some cough drops and a care package as an apology. I told her I wouldn't yelp about it but then i saw the BROKEN WINDOW and decided that was just too much to keep quiet about. This was a seriously awful experience. Starting with the owner Edwin and followed by each one of his guys working in my home...Raul, Johnny, German and i know one or two others have worked tirelessly to get my home back to its predamaged conditions! These guys all helped me under very stressful conditions due to a faulty roof that caused major water damage to the inside of my home while I was out of state dealing with a surgery for my young son. My entire floors, walls and ceilings were damaged and through it all this team saw to it that the repairs and the work was done efficiently, professionally and expeditiously. I am in awe of how well I was treated and how wonderfull their services have been. I will return to a home that I truly believe is in much better conditions than the home I left during the repairs due to their hard work and dedication. Second they are trying to put a lean on our house because they are waiting for a check from our MORTGAGE company. We have nothing to do with it and they want to put a lean on our house! Please do not use ServPro of Studio City. I had extensive water damage from the condo upstairs. I called Servpro of studio city. Big, big mistake. I had difficulty with the workers staying around and working. They insisted that they had to take my belongings to storage and that they would pack. There was enough room to store it in undamaged areas of the condo, but they insisted. I did not get my furniture and belongings back for over one year. I was without all my belongings for all of that time. They originally said it would be less than three weeks. I had one plate and one pot. The owner who was completely rude and unprofessional was holding my belongings hostage. I had to pay more money to retrieve my stuff and then they just brought back the boxes and left them for me to unpack. They also did a very bad job of restoring the condo and walked out in the middle of the restoration. They would say they were coming to work and never show. This went on for weeks into months. I finally had to hire another contractor to redo and complete the job. Servpro ended up, because they had all my belongings, getting all of the money the insurance paid. The owner refused to give back my belongings unless I paid him all the money the insurance paid and they walked out on the project. He threatened a lien against my condo. They not only didn't finish but the work was very unprofessional. It had to be redone. Please do not use Servpro of studio city for your project. I also contacted corporate and they would not help. I used ServPro of Studio City (aka ServPro Alan Reed) to clean up and mitigate smoke damage to my house from the recent fires. They did a great job. They were responsive, professional, and extremely thorough. The first thing they did was set up filters in every room to eliminate the horrible smell of the smoke. Then they sent a crew to my house to clean up and remove all the ash. It took a couple of days but when they were finished the house looked like it did before the smoke damage. I want to give a special "shout out" to Kat Lund, who did a super job, coordinated everything, and was a pleasure to work with. I don't think the work would have gotten done as quickly and smoothly as it did without her efforts. I also want to compliment David who supervised the crew, identified all the damage, was on the job the entire time to make sure everything got done properly, and did a great job. Their fee was reasonable and approved in total by my insurance company. The bottom line is that I would recommend them highly and was very, very pleased with their work. read more

Wow! I cannot believe how hit and miss the reviews are for Servpro. My only thought is that since Servpro is a national company, some of these reviews may be for another franchise. But I can only report my experience and in short, I wish I could leave more than 5 stars. After a horrible day at work, I get a call from my roommates saying the toilet is overflowing with sewage. I race home to find that most of the water had been cleaned up, but I could smell sewage and see "particles" all over the floor. The carpet had been soaked through and there was a small pond in my living room. Water had seeped through the 2 walls of the bathroom into my dining room and garage. Not knowing I had any resources to call on, my roommate and I mopped up the water and I rented a carpet extractor from Home Depot. I extracted about 20 gallons of water, but realized that there was so much more water that had seeped through to the padding that I would never be able to extract. My friend called and told me she had a similar problem previously and told me she called her insurance. This never even crossed my mind! So I call SafeCo and they start a claim and call ServPro for an appointment. It's now 5pm on Tuesday. They said that ServPro will have someone call me within an hour and have an emergency crew at my house within 4 hours. I'm stunned. Raul from ServPro calls me around 6pm and is the friendliest guy I've ever had the pleasure of speaking with. He was so apologetic for the hassle I endured (probably protocol for his line of work, but still nice to hear) and very thorough with explaining how he would be handling the situation. He was upfront about the fact that since my flood was sewage and not just water, anything that water touch would have to be removed. By 7pm Raul and Fernando show up and start working. Fernando took about 5 minutes to rip up about 200 sq ft of my carpet and I could immediately see how far the water had leaked from the carpet padding. It was MUCH further out than I had thought. The guys ripped up the padding and the baseboards, set up dehumidifiers and air sanitizers. Raul repeated several times that everything would have to be sanitized (which I thoroughly appreciate and will give me so much peace of mind after my living room was literally filled with feces). What surprised me was that he told me the bottom 2 ft of my walls would have to be demolished and that the studs would be sanitized!! Talk about efficient! Both guys were extremely pleasant to work with and, as a customer, what I appreciated was that they talked me through everything they were going to do before they did it. Having never experienced a "loss" before, Raul talked me through what to expect with my insurance company and how the chain of communication will be between myself, ServPro, and SafeCo moving forward. It really helped to know what I would be responsible for and what he could handle directly with my insurance. I was concerned that my insurance was referring a large company to do the restoration for me because I assumed the insurance company was getting a kick back from another large company that would just treat me like another customer number, but I was very shocked with the level of attentiveness and concern Raul and Fernando had for my home. Can't speak for the other employees of ServPro, but Raul and Fernando are the best employees you can hire to be the representatives of your business! I had a water leak upstairs which soaked my carpeting and drywall on downstairs ceiling. The came out soon enough but sent out a bunch of 20 yr. old kids that only knew how to destroy what was left of my carpeting. Instead of pulling the carpet back by the wet areas these numbskulls cut big swatches out in the middle of my hallway and bedrooms then put 6 fans under the carpet for days. Also they cut through my alarm wires under the carpet and left it. They also broke my stained baseboards wherever they removed it. All in all they did more damage than good. The workers are basic laborers that don't know much of anything. Best to use your own company/contractor than have Servpro incompetents come out. Don't know which branch of Servpro came out but it makes no difference. Their workers are not qualified to do much more than sweep floors and plug in fans. Honest review here.I would not use anybody from Servpro even for free. Can't be sure what area or branch came out but they all have mostly unqualified employees. read more
