This was right near my house and I thought it would be a nice little spot for a blowout before going out. Nope. The most glaring indicator of the one star was the bad blow out. The wash was sub par, the stylist was rude, curt and overall unpleasant and I was treated as a chore more than a customer. The blowout was something I could have done at home in 5 minutes. I went to the one in CT. And I was highly disappointed and not impressed. I walked in and they said they didn't have my appointment! The guy that does my hair. He so cocky doesn't know what the hell he is doing. First he started out with washing my hair with super hot water. So we didn't get off on the right foot. He blow dries horribly, one would think he blew on it from his own mouth for an hour!!! . Then I asked are you gonna straighten that? He said yes. And with a luke warm straightening iron with no comb while ironing my hair. I can hear it breaking off!! He had broken off so much hair with the straightening iron he had to blow dry his chair off!! O M G!!! I nearly choked him! It was so darn thick and huge it was horrible. I couldn't believe I had to drive to westchester like that. He then had looked so proud of the damage he had done. He had the balls excuse my french to say I looked great. I'm like great?? On what planet? The planet of the apes maybe!!! Anyway, I was shocked!!! I was horrified. I walked out of there with my hair in a bun. I am never going there again. Please people save your money and HAIR!! And stay away from a Moroccan guy he so cocky, he thinks he can do hair, he's gorgeous but he can't do hair!!!!! The only thing he can do is stand there and watch others do hair and look pretty. Was gonna try the one in Rye, not even gonna waste my time! As for the pricing, The blow dry would have been fine if it would have been done correctly not like a wild animal. But i needed the iron because Mr. Morocco lacked skills and it wasn't disclosed to me that because of his sh&tty blow drying skills he learned in a small village in casa blanca that i would be charged an extra 20 bucks for iron that wasn't even turned on, i was outraged! Anyway, buyer beware!! Also the place looks like a real dump, just because it's in a ritzy neighborhood doesn't mean anything. They don't offer you not even a glass of water. And its nothing special. I went to the one in Greenwich. It was awful. The front desk and lady who did my hair were unbelievably rude and not very presentable. I walked in with a "pass" from the owner from the sidewalk sales this summer, I didn't know what it was for and after much back and forth, it was ripped up in front of me by the front desk!! The actual blow dry (and shampooing) was painful. She was tearing and pulling at my hair violently! Then had the nerve to trash my haircut (all while having some conversation with the front desk attendant). The final result was nothing $40 worth, for that amount of money I would probably just go across the street to the new blow dry bar that opened up. This place is awful. read more

I was nervous about the bad reviews but had a very good experience myself. I will definitely go back. I think the name is deceiving - there is nothing luxurious or plush about it, but its is efficient and they do a very good job. It was easy to make an appt online and lots of available spots. I showed up 5 mins early and they took me right away. Whole process took less than 30 mins which was nice. If you are looking to be pampered, this is not the spot. Vlora the receptionist is very very warm, welcoming and professional and keeps customers coming back. The shampooers have room for improvement..a proper deep clean wash for optimum blowout is a real skill and the feeling is there is a lack of experience across the group. The stylists for the most part are terrific but there is a bit of attitude making customers feel like they are being made fun of. Many women have talked about this. Hopefully the owners will take this review as a real effort to be honest for improvement. Update: I had an exceptionally bad experience yet again, the wash is so terrible that soap did not even touch my scalp, just the hair shaft and rinse with the hand held, so so strange; the too cool for school attitude is also intolerable, my stylist was sighing and just giving off such a strange vibe like she really did not want to work there. The hair sectioning was so off and too much on a single brush that my hair was actually flatter than if I just did a quick wash and dry at home. There is no substitute for good simple technique on wash and blowout and a warm kind attitude is everything. So disappointed. read more

I had my first appointment this weekend on my birthday and loved it. It's normal to feel a bit shy or nervous when you walk into a new salon for the first time with no makeup on and your hair a mess, and everyone there is beautiful and done up - but they treated me like I rolled out of bed gorgeous (even though I know that wasn't true!) Super friendly staff, no pressure sales, even though I did buy a package I hadn't planned on. $40 for the blow out, which included the wash and it lasted two days. I would recommend. read more

Went for a blow out with my sister. The place was tiny, packed, but not a big deal. They took us right away. The wash was the worst I have ever gotten. While sitting in the chair, the receptionist and other stylists were being VERY loud and dancing!! Not respectful of their customers at all. Completely ruined the atmosphere and my ability to relax. I've never witnessed such behavior in a salon! The blow out came out ok - but it was nothing I couldn't have done on myself. I'll give them another try but only when I'm a little too lazy to dry my own hair. If I have an event to go to, I think I'll take the long drive down to NYC and try another place out. I was in town for a wedding last weekend and my friend made an appointment here for both of us to get a blow out. What a disappointment! We were taken back right away but the experience went downhill from there. I don't typically do much with my hair so I was hoping the stylist could help recommend something to do for this wedding. She wasn't interested at all in talking or helping me. She was fairly rough with her round brush, didn't put any product in my hair, and then complained to me that my hair wasn't holding any curls. Thankfully, the style I left with stayed in place long enough to get through some wedding photos 6 hours later. My friend's experience was also lackluster. Her stylist was a little more chatty and helpful, and even used some product. She put my friend's long hair in pincurls. The stylist told her to leave with her hair pinned up and not take them out until right before our event. My friend walked out of the salon looking like she stepped out of the 1960s with her hair still in curlers! She did as she was told but her curls were completely gone by the end of the 90 minute wedding ceremony. Lastly, the front desk told us they had charged the credit card used to hold the reservation (without asking!) and only took tips in cash (they wouldn't add it to the credit card) so we had to walk down the street to the bank. I should have just skipped the tip since I wasn't all that pleased. read more

I don't know about the negative reviews from years ago, but I have been here twice and I'm hooked. My hair is naturally wavy/curly and it is a real pain in the neck to blow it out myself. One day I drove by this place and on a whim decided to let someone else try to tame my wild hair. It came our real nice. I just went again last night; and walked in with frizzy wild hair and walk out will soft smooth hair with beautiful style. I plan on going back to purchase a package of 10 blow dry sessions so I when I am in the mood to treat myself I have it already paid and I can go. I will agree that it is a very small place and where you get your hair washed is sort of awkward...but I really don't give a damn...hair looks great and that is all that matters. read more

One Star is WAY too generous... HORRIBLE!!! Extremely rude and unprofessional management. If I book with a specific stylist, I want to see THAT stylist! Also, maybe they didn't realize yet but it's almost summer which means higher temperatures. There NEEDS to be air conditioning. It is way too hot to be under the blow dryer for a half hour in general and when its 70 + degrees it is now a matter of health and safety. Your customers nor your stylists should not be passing out in your small salon with no air flow. ... and besides that.. Does anyone's hair look lovely after sweating under a blow dryer for 20 minutes or more? Cause I know mine doesn't. Went here for a quick blowout today and was literally the fastest blowout ever! It came out how I wanted, with lots of volume and wave at the end, something I can't do on my own unless I use a big curling iron (which damages my hair). Went to the one in Scarsdale last week and really wanted to love this place. I was super excited that they had opened one close to where I live. The shop is really cute and the staff is very friendly. I asked for a blow out with a lot of volume and big waves. When I left my hair looked like I had done the blow out myself. I was really disappointed. I ended up going home to tease the top and add some extra body with the curling iron. I have tried twice to make appointments at Plushblow, without success. Once I did it by phone and the staff later called me to say they needed to change it because they decided to go home early. Today I booked a 6:30 appointment on Yelp and got a confirmation. I then got a call at 4:40 asking me if I could come at 5 instead because "it was a slow day and they sent the stylists home." If you're in a service business you need to be open when customers get out of work. If you confirm an appointment it is bad business to cancel 10 minutes later because you don't feel like sticking around. I will never use their services. It says a blowout is 60 minutes for $40 but it's more like 15 minutes. For $40, the stylist insulted me and told me that I needed a hair cut. My hair is easy and straight but it did need a haircut admittedly. However, I don't need her to charge me $40 to tell me that she couldn't do anything with my hair. A respectful stylist would have offered suggestions as to how to make it look nice. I was there getting my hair done for a funeral and left feeling terrible. I am appalled and disgusted by how crude and vulgar the staff was here. First of all, the amount of fog and smoke upon entering the salon is in and of itself a health hazard and a possible OCHA/health violation. The place is so small that you cannot get your hair washed comfortably without someone hitting your legs when passing by. My stylist (whom I will refrain from naming) was texting on her phone while doing my hair. This was extremely rude and unprofessional. The stylists talk to each other during services as if it were a sorority. I was most disgusted by a stylist who took a curling iron and pretended it was a penis, proceeding to "give it a hand job". I thought it would be a nice treat to have my hair blown out for a event. Previous blow outs have involved product to give me volume and hold so the blow out would last me a couple days at least. This was essentially blow drying my hair. I wasted $40 to blow dry my hair. The first indication that I was getting ripped off was the "stylist" didn't apply any product to my hair. I have fine, virgin (unprocessed) hair and it doesn't hold without product. I think the use of product would be glaring obvious to a real stylist. I hope the business tries to defend how they can charge to blow dry hair with out use of products. They had plenty for sale (of their own brand) on the shelves! Second, I said I wanted a blowout with the ends curled under (usually achieved with a brush) and she started clipping my hair in circles which gave me waves. Third, I have side swept bangs and she didn't blow them, but just combed them so they stuck straight out from my face. I had to tell her that was unacceptable. Went for the first time the other day and it really was not enjoyable. The sink hurt my neck, the staff wasn't very friendly and the lady that was doing my hair was not gentle and made the experience very uncomfortable. She pulled really hard and made me put my head at awkward angles so she could reach part of my hair. I have had my hair blown out many times before, and my hair isn't even that hard to blow-dry, and it has never been that difficult. What a great concept that came to Westchester from NYC. A Blow Dry Bar for Hair blowouts and styling. Genius! Unfortunately this one that opened is amateur at best. I so wanted this to be a great Rye destination but it has failed miserably. They are unprofessional, unorganized and dirty. The manager is the owner's mother and she does not know how to treat customers. They claim you can book an appointment on the phone with a particular stylist, then when you get there they say that is not their policy and try to put you with someone else. They always run late, they don't treat their customer's well while waiting and the manager is horrific. The stylists are fine, but to be honest you get a better atmosphere and treatment by going to one of the local salons instead. It's not that much cheaper and definitely not worth the bargain. If I am getting my hair done I like to feel pampered not like a herd of cows moving through. Also space is small and dirty. read more

I am so baffled at the terrible customer service of Plushblow. I walked in about 4 weeks ago inquiring about setting up blowdrys for my bridal party in July. The lady behind the desk seemed like she didn't know what to do, but took my info. and assured me that someone would be emailing me/calling me with details that day. A week went by and nothing. I tried calling by looking up their phone number online, but of course, their number is incorrect on their website. I opted to email them, but their email did not work and it bounced back. I finally got their right number, and spoke to one of their managers. She wasn't the friendliest of managers, considering how annoyed I was that I have been trying to book my bridal party for 3 weeks at this point. She too took my info and assured me that someone would call me that day. It has now been a week since that phone call, and I still have not heard back. I can't understand that a small town boutique would not understand that value of bringing in a bridal party and business of 9 women. I have managed a much larger operation and would never let one customer go ignored for 4 weeks. It is truly embarrassing, considering that are a small time operation - they should pride themselves on connecting and building relationship with their customers.
