Honestly this restaurant ended up being plan B since Barcelona was sooo crowded. When I entered I noticed that there was a pretty chill vibe. Since we were waiting for seats at another restaurant we decided to kick it off with a few drinks. I got the sangria because you can never go wrong with that, right? Wrong! This sangria tasted like water, not even a slightest bit of a zest of a lemon, orange or whatever. And they didn't even add a fruit garnish, talk about disappointed. I ended up taking it to the head since we got notification that our seat was available at plan A. I will say... What tasted like colored water hit me a teeny tiny bit. I knew that would be my only drink since I made the wrong decision to drive to 14th. No Bueno. Long story short, plan A was going to take way too long in regard to ordering food (and people were going to leave early) so we stayed here. Luckily my friend put us on the list as soon as she arrived and after an hour or so of waiting, we were accommodated. I believe there was 10 of us and the staff made it work. By the time we sat down I was starving. I was going to go with the grilled salmon but I chose something a bit more traditional to the restaurant. I chose the carbonara and it was sooo good. Our waiter brought out Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes to jazz it up. I love red pepper flakes and learned quickly that all red pepper flakes are not created equal. Good thing for me I added the right combo of cheese to pepper and because the dish made me full I still have half for my Saturday morning breakfast! Since we were celebrating a birthday, the birthday girl ordered tiramisu and that absolutely tasted like heaven. I actually wanted to order my own but I remembered this place called the gym and my goal of looking good naked (TMI). I can definitely see myself making a quick trip just to enjoy that treat alone. There was someone at the table that ordered the grilled asparagus and it was really good as well. The only thing that got a bad review was the Alfredo, someone stated that it was really bland. All in all I had a great time and I can totes see myself coming back... Particularly on a Sunday or Monday for their extended Happy Hour specials as well as that tiramisu lol. read more

Had a delicious pasta carbonara for dinner here. Good combination of flavors, not too oily, and a great portion size. The pasta was a bit more al dente than I would prefer, though. And the bread is served cold, which I was surprised by. We were seated outside as we were told every table was reserved inside, but the restaurant remained fairly empty the entire time we sat outside. Not sure why that was, but I was a little off put by that. read more

Meh - pretty average Italian place on 14th but with so many other great ones to choose from, about the only good thing this place has going for it is the ease of getting a last minute reservation or even a table by walking in. Their cocktail list was sad and the one we did try tasted like whiskey and coke - yuck. The red sangria was okay, but I've had much better. The bread balls were unique to any Italian place I've ever gone too and the ones that weren't burnt were kind of addictive. We also had the caprese salad (basic af) and the fried calamari and zucchini which was also exactly what you'd expect. I had the ravioli Della nonna for my entree, which was very buttery but pretty good. The best part was the dessert, a slice of tiramisu that was actually not half bad. Come on Sette. This isn't DuPont where you've got very little competition. This is 14th Street, where Ghibellina, Lupo Verde, and Etto are a stones throw away and you've also got competition from Piola and Declaration in the pizza category. At our first (and likely last) visit to your 14th Street location, our entrees came out in ten minutes and our appetizers were forgotten completely. We never received bread. The aggressive "table clearing" (which in this review is a euphemism for attempted snatching of food we were still eating) was out of control. My fish was overcooked and under seasoned and my boyfriend's eggplant was not eggplant at all... It was chicken. All of this for the bargain price of $100 plus. NOPE. Two stars for outdoor seating on 14th and reasonably priced wine. read more

My experience at this restaurant was extremely unsatisfactory. For starters, I came with a party of 8 around 12pm. There were several tables available and we were told that we needed a reservation. After an unnecessary wait (not long) we were seated. There was a spider in one of our silverware rolls and when we told the waitress Carla about it, she offered no apology nor acknowledged it. Carla also has a bad habit of reaching over people's food. The food was mediocre and for $15 the portion of pasta was very small. Also, the water they served to our table was taken from a large bin full of ice water and scooped out using a plastic to-go container and poured into a pitcher. Very unsanitary!! read more

Happy Hour review only: I really enjoy this restaurant's Happy Hour. It's until 8pm and has some delicious food options all ranging from 4-8 bucks. Rail liquor, sangria, and white/red wine cost 5 dollars during happy hour. Let's be real--we were here for the bottomless mimosas, which were great! They were, of course, mostly juice, but refills were quick and aplenty and we left totally smashed. Stopped by this restaurant for a late brunch on Sunday with friends. We started with drinks - of the drinks we had I would say the apple cider mimosa was definitely my favorite! They also have bottomless mimosas for 2 hrs $15 just to put that out there. Next we ordered our meals, I had the breakfast tart and my friend had an omelet. It took a little while than usual, but eventually our food made its way from the kitchen. The presentation of both plates was confusing. The tart I ordered was really cup made of phyllo dough with mozzarella, basil, avocado, and tomato scooped inside of it. Reminiscent to the texture of bruschetta. Not what I was expecting at all, with two eggs over easy on the side. The meal was good, just not what I was expecting and not something I would consciously order again. The presentation of the omelet was also a little odd, the salad was served on top of the eggs, but I noticed once the salad was gone the omelet below was not visually appealing. Good experience overall, but not an experience that has me dying to go back. read more

Came in to grab a quick to-go lunch and Karla was the waitress behind the bar. Her service was greatly impersonal. My first time coming and I was skeptical to go since the previous reviews indicated poor service but food was great. She never asked if I'd been there before and thank goodness I have some sort of idea what I wanted. We struggled to identify that fettuccine already was what I wanted and she was just rushed to put my order in. I decided to go with shrimp and she replied "oh you want chicken"? Which showed me she really wasn't paying attention. Had it not been across the street from my meeting place, I wouldn't have gone. I'm sure I won't go back. I have been to Sette several times and I have always had a great experience. The food and the service is always great which is why me and my partner frequent this spot in our neighborhood. In saying that, I was very bothered to see this man from Uber Eats speak so disrespectfully to Karla who always takes excellent care of us, and as we see, takes care of so many. That is terrible. I hope Uber eats is aware of this inappropriate behavior that could possibly reflect on this restaurant and/or Karla who has taken such great care of us for years. read more

To be honest, we only came to Sette Osteria while waiting for an outdoor table at Barcelona next door. However, I was surprised to find a great Happy Hour selection of beer and wine. We sat at the bar and had two glasses of red with the mixed olives. The olives were great, not too salty and accompanied by a great mix of pickled garlic and beans, and the bartender was kind enough to serve us fresh bread from the hearth they have barside. I will definitely have to come back for the full ensemble! read more

Showed up at 2:00 PM on a Thursday with only a few patrons dining. Waitress was quick to get us drinks but forgot our bread, our calamari appetizer and then got us the wrong sandwich. When we asked and she finally got our sandwich right (chicken parmigiana), it was basically a panini with a slice of gray chicken and mozzarella. Fries were also soft and far from crispy. The arugula salad with beets and caramelized walnuts lacked flavor and was also a miss. Not horrible but not worth two stars. read more

Sette on 14th has become one of our favorite places to go for any occasion...brunch, happy hour, dinner...it's a solid go-to! Happy hour is awesome with tons of options plus very affordable food. If I could give it zero stars, I would. The waitress was extremely rude and unfriendly. We wanted something light to eat and ordered off the kid menu for small portions. She said it's for kids only and she had an attitude, so we said we weren't going to order. We tried to tip her and she said "you don't have to" and just walked away. So terrible. read more

I ordered the "Sette Brunch Tart" that was a phyllo pastry stuffed tomatoes, avocado, scallions, etc., inside, and then supposedly topped with eggs and bacon. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I definitely was not anticipating the half-dollar sized tart I received. I'm not joking about the size, it was smaller than my palm. It tasted okay, but was tiny. The eggs were definitely not on the top -- they were on the side and nothing special. The bacon was fine, nothing special, definitely not crisp. When I go to brunch, I want to come away full and happy. I was still hungry when we left, despite having a mimosa and a bloody mary (which was too tomato-y and not spicy enough). The server was nice and the decor was fine, but I was very disappointed in the small portions and generally bland food. I would not go there again. read more

My mother came to town to see me and it is extremely unfortunate how bad our experience was here. First they seat us in the back where we are promptly forgotten. Their menus are old and dirty and the entire place feels gross. Their places are even old and tired. The food was basically inedible and was not as advertised on the menu at all. Came here for a late brunch on Sunday. We were seated right away and were able to sit outside which was nice. We ordered the focaccia bread basket to share as a starter which was delicious. I ordered the salmon and bagel platter off the brunch menu which was nothing special. The cream cheese had a very funky smell and taste and was starting to go bad which was disappointing and ruined the rest of my meal. I pointed it out to our server who was very nice about this but didn't even offer to take it off our check which was frustrating. Service and food were just ok, nothing special. I would recommend this place for the food, but poor service made a return trip less than likely. Pros: The food is good/decent Italian--nothing too special, but good. Atmosphere was good, and it's in a great spot on 14th. The bussing staff was great! Never an empty water glass and quickly cleared plates. Unfortunately, that's the only staff I could regard as competent. We as a party of 3 were there 7 pm Friday prior to the dinner rush, and it was not busy when we got there. From the get go, it was pretty poor service from all staff but the bussers: - Hostess never seated us, she just made a gesture in the direction where our table was (which wasn't within our view) - the bussing staff was on point, immediately came to fill our waters, but after 15-20 minutes of no sign of a server I had to flag down a manager to put in our drink order - The waitress finally showed up to deliver the drinks, but that was it, and she quickly left without taking our dinner order or even asking if we needed more time to look at the menu (we didn't). - We had to flag the manager again (he was pretty aloof for having already been called over once) after 10 more minutes of no sign of the waitress for our food order. - After 30 minutes of no food arriving, I had to flag our waitress again to ask where the food was. She didn't offer an apology. She just left to go to check on it with the kitchen. - Looking over at the kitchen, I saw two meals thrown out in the midst of their cooking process. - After about an hour and a half, we've got our food. We made sure to finish quickly, and of course, we had to flag the waiter to get the check which was actually serviced in sub 5 mins. If you're looking for a relaxed, easy meal, don't come. read more

First of all, any restaurant that offers free, warm garlic parmesan bread already wins in my book. I ordered the cavatelli with Italian sausage and my boyfriend had the pumpkin ravioli. His portion definitely could have been bigger for the price, but I was happy with mine. Both were incredible - the ravioli was probably the best I've ever had and the pumpkin wasn't overwhelming. My pasta was fresh and the sausage was rich and flavorful. I didn't need to add anything to it (and I'm usually guilty of dousing any pasta dish in red pepper flakes and cheese). I'd absolutely recommend this place if you're craving good Italian. read more

This place doesn't seem busy during the week, however it was busy on Friday night. We had dinner. My guest had cod over polenta....very good. I had Bolognese with homemade pasta.....so good. Meatballs are gross.....sorry guys. they are too uniform in size and neutral in flavor to be homemade. They reminded me of frozen or store bought. Also, they should be bigger. Tiramisu was just ok. should be sweeter with more espresso. Pistachio gelato was old, freezer burned and flavorless. Advise customers that olives have pits. This place could be so much better, however they don't seem to have their act together. Wait service was horrendous. So much so, that the manager was aware of it and was serving stuff. Homemade pasta is awesome.....but it won't carry your restaurant. Get to work guys. read more
