It's my second visit to Dr Baek's dental office and I had a tooth extracted and site prepped for a dental implant, followed by a dental cleaning. I was anxious about the procedure since it's basically minor surgery with sutures, bone grafts and whatnot, but he and the rest of his team really put me at ease. He gave me plenty of numbing agent and I didn't really feel anything except my jaws were getting sore from keeping my mouth open lol. Overall I think it took less than 30 minutes for the first procedure. Dr Baek was really professional and kept asking if I was ok. The teeth cleaning was smooth and easy too. The dental hygienist was confident, informative and and also good at communicating. I was very pleased with her work and will schedule a follow up in 6 months. The best thing about the office was the dental assistants and hygienist did a very good job of sucking out excess saliva and liquids during each procedure. As long as I can remember, I always felt like I was choking on my spit at every dentist I've ever been to but this place does a good job of keeping me from gagging. Overall a really great and smooth procedure. The implant procedure will take about 3 months total. I will follow up with more feedback if anything changes. This review is for Dr. Baek's front office staff, who I spoke with over the phone regarding my mother's treatment. They were following up with me after receiving notification from the endodontist we had been referred to that her treatment was complete and she would need to get a dental crown. While on the phone, I asked her about their office policy, which the endodontist told me had prevented them from getting my mother's x-rays from Dr. Baek, which resulted in additional costs. At the time, I hadn't contacted Dr. Baek's office about it, but thought it really strange that they would not share the X-rays with a provider to whom they had referred us. When I brought it up during the call, the front office woman became really irate, stating that it was not her job to contact us to let us know that they would only release X-rays to the patient and that if we had called to request it, they would have released it to us. She said it was part of the HIPAA release forms that we had signed when we first registered with the office, which is not the point of why I brought this up. I was trying to convey that I would have appreciated it as part of their customer service to try and help out the patient as much as possible, rather than having them accrue unnecessary costs like this. Her absolute disdain at the thought of having to provide any "customer service," which apparently is NOT her job at all, was really the last straw. While switching between Korean and English, she also started using really disrespectful phrases, calling me "you" in the familiar form in Korean. I'm sure Dr. Baek is a fine dentist but there are similarly skilled dentists in the area, with far better staff who I can work with for my mother's dental needs. read more

So the previous review was written while I was still upset with the staff (less than 1 hour from incident). I should be fair and state how things were handled afterward. 5 star because things were handled professionally and efficiently. This review is NOT about Dr. Baek's professional dentist skill. The Dr. Baek called me back after that day's work hour. (I did asked for a conversation with doctor earlier, but due to his busy schedule, he wasn't able to come to the phone. Doctor is super nice and the staff are friendly. Especially Tom, who is in charge of new/current patients, he remembers your name and make sure to remind you via phone few days prior to the appt. They used to be in a small office in Beach blvd, but relocated to much newer, bigger building on Beach blvd. It is a sky blue/white colored 4 story building and they have free parking for customers. Also their chair have massage capabilities, so it is a super comfy luxurious chair. Best of of, Dr Baek greets you and cares about you as an patient and a person. He makes sure your insurance covers you and researches the best way for you to get covered instead of paying out of pocket. Who does that these days?!?!?! Man huge respect to Dr Baek and his staff. I'm so GLAD my former boss recommended me to go here for wisdom teeth procedures. I mentioned to him that I was searching for a orthodontist with expertise. I came to Baek's office and it was a Outstanding experience! I went in for 1 session to start removing my wisdom teeth on my right side, it was quick and easy. We discussed my X-ray teeth exams and he recommended to do the left side first so I agreed with him ( my pain tolerance is very low) sadly. However he numbed me with injection right away, (DID NOT HURT) he very gentle. Then proceeded to do the procedure and take out the wisdom teeth. I appreciated that he warned me when we would apply pressure at certain times and also warned me when he would get more aggressive when pulling the teeth! I was provided gauze and a small bag with some supplies and was out the door. This entire process took about 15min ! I even recommend my bestie to come thru here since it was such a great experience. read more

Went here for the first time last Saturday and I was so impressed! I've been going to a doctor in Newport Beach who is wonderful but just too far and isn't open weekends... Dr. Seung H Baek IS OPEN WEEKENDS! This makes it super convenient for me as I work FT and didn't want to take any days off. I live on Beach and always drove by the array of dentists, doctors, spas so was surprised it was on that strip. = PARKING = What I did was turn right AFTER seeing the office and go towards the back, like you're about to go into an alleyway, make a right and you should see his own private parking lot! I was able to figure it out without any help... so hopefully it won't be too hard for you either. = TECHNOLOGY = The office is gorgeous! Check out the photos I took, I'm in love. Also, the dentist assistant was super friendly and nice. The receptionist was quiet but was probably busy with so much work. I filled out some paperwork and I was in and out of the office in 1 hour! I got my normal teeth cleaning done and checkup. The technology here is AMAZING and super high-tech! seriously, I went to my other dentist 5 months ago, and seeing all this equipment made it seem like I hadn't seen a dentist in 10 years. They had this cool machine that did almost a 360 scan of my head O_O" and the dentist had a toothbrush looking machine that takes photos of your teeth and the inside of your mouth! My favorite part is that as that assistant is doing your x-rays, you can see the images in real time on their big TV screen. = THE DOCTOR = The doctor was super friendly and very patient. He explained to me that I needed some procedures done (hopefully I won't need a root canal!) and when I asked him if he could send me the photos so that I can see what my other dentist might think, he was very friendly and sent me those pictures! Also, the doctor actually spent the first 15 minutes cleaning my teeth, which is something I don't really experience a lot. Normally the dental assistant does that and the doctor sees me at the very end to go over any problems or issues. After the 15 minutes, the dental assistant took over. The only con I have is that I wish the teeth cleaning took more time, as I normally have about a 45 minute teeth cleaning session and a 15-20 session with my dentist. But, I think since I had some issues, we spent most of the time talking so my teeth cleaning was quicker than normal? Even so, I'll be back! You'll love your experience here! read more

Anybody who loves going to the dentist is either lying or crazy. Not me. It's never fun. But Dr. Baek's bedside manner and experience make him a great dentist to make your primary provider. My family has been coming here for years and he always brings a warmth to the way he speaks to us. It's like he is family and really cares about how we are doing and our overall dental health. This is an update to my last review. Tom called me back and explained the reason for the delay. I was able to schedule my appointment in a prompt fashion. The reason for the delay was due to Covid and their limited hours of operation causing a lapse in their phone system. Dr Baek is a very meticulous, checking in with his patients throughout the treatment process and a wonderful bedside manner to round it all up. I have been coming to Dr. Baek's office for several months now and I could not be happier to have him as my dentist. I have had my share of dental horror stories, as well as dentists who have tried to scam me into procedures that I didn't need. Because of this, I was very hesitant to come here at first and wanted to avoid going to any dentists as much as possible, but I'm so happy that I did because I have found a dentist that I can finally trust. Dr. Baek is very friendly, professional, kind, and knowledgeable at his practice. He ensures that I understand what is going on, and he takes the time to explain everything very thoroughly. He even answers all the questions that I have (and I have a lot..) and goes above and beyond. He has never pressured me to agree to any procedure (as have other dentists from my past) and I know that I can trust him because of that. Tom, the office manager, is also helpful and informs me of what my insurance options are and gives me a breakdown of how I can maximize my insurance benefits so my wallet can be happy. Tom is courteous and welcoming each time I come into the office, as is Dr. Baek and the other dental assistants there. In conclusion, I am SO glad that I can call Dr. Baek my dentist and I HIGHLY recommend him to everyone! Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet! I've been going to Dr. Baek for the past two years, and I don't regret it! They recently moved to a new location, which is really nice. The only downside is the parking. There are barely any parking spots, but I think they don't book appointments that exceed the number of parking spots. Dr. Baek is not pushy with any type of service. He will let you know the best options, and makes you feel so comfortable. During procedures, he's very gentle and is concerned about his patients. He always checks up on how I feel every few minutes. Made an appointment for X-ray and cleaning. Had to wait almost 15 minutes while the dentist talked to his friend/patient in Korean at the counter. After the X-ray and "consultation" which he tried to get me to have periodontal scaling (to which I refused), he then said he and his staff had to go to lunch "because it is by law" hence I'd have to come back if I wanted cleaning. When I went to pay, the front desk tried to talk me into doing the scaling again since "the insurance will pay for it". Went to another dentist for a second opinion. She told me periodontal scaling was not necessary. However, I did need to come back for regular cleaning every 3 months for a year (4 cleanings instead of the usual recommended twice a year). Though I had to pay for the extra 2 cleanings myself, I didn't have to endure the horrid, painful scaling. Well worth the time, energy, and HASSLE. I do not trust this dentist nor the too many, all perfect reviews which prompted me to make the appointment in the first place. read more

BAEK and his staff on Yelp (thanks to all the review below) and have finally found a dentist i think i will enjoy going to... found out i have 5 cavities (GROSS! I KNOW) and im going to be getting some cosmetic crown done so i can finally smile with all the confidence in the world! So, if your looking for a dentist that will seriously educate you, and put your thoughts first before his- Dr. Baek is the man! 4 words - I LOVE DR BAEK (counting # of words on hand....)!!! He can tell you, my teeth/grill needed much TLC. Considering the fact that I've always hated the dentist, I did everything possible to avoid visits to the dentist. I was successful enough to avoid doing so for about 14 yrs! 1st checkup w/ Dr Baek resulted in Dr Baek hitting what you could call a dentistry gold mine. I had 10 cavities to fill, 1 root canal, and needed all 4 wisdom teeth taken out. Like I said, I hated the dentist and could already taste the nastiness about to enter inside my carnivorous mouth. This time it was different, first off, he has assistants that are probably the most courteous people you'll ever meet and secondly, the guy has a massage chair built into the seat where he "operates" on you. You literally forget that you're at a dentist's appt. I'm a wuss when it comes to tolerance of pain in the mouth, but honestly, I hardly felt a thing. I actually look forward to my checkups as not only do I get great service and care, but I can actually conversate with Dr Baek and catch up and see how he's been. So I needed a root canal for the first time and was terrified after hearing horror stories from friends and family. Dr. Baek and his staff assured me I was in good hands. Also, I was recommended by another patient of his who spoke highly of him and his office so I was a little more at ease. Honestly, I haven't laughed at the dentist this much in my life! I had some problems with previous dental work I received from a former family dentist. So I've been searching for a new dentist for quite sometime... been to dentists who were recommended by friends and family, and all of them didn't seem like a good doctor. I found Dr Baek through Yelp as a last resort and yes I was skeptical at first. But I have to say he is a great doctor! I give myself a pat on the back for it, lol. Do not go here!! I had a root canal in Dec 2013, and then my crown fell out several months later. I went back in, and the dr. simply re cemented the crown in. My crown fell out AGAIN just a couple days ago and I decided to try another dentist- she examined me and said the tissue around the root canal doesn't look good. Then, after 2 x-rays, she tells me I have a cavity there (which explains why I have discomfort around that tooth- which should NOT be the case if I've had a root canal!) because the previous dentist did not fit/place the crown properly and that the tooth cannot be saved. :( so now, in my 30s, I will be getting a tooth extraction and dental implants. I really wanted to like this office/ the staff is nice, the location is convenient, the equipment is state of the art- but ultimately, the workmanship is shoddy. Notice that other yelp reviews praise the massage chair, but really say nothing about the doctor's expertise! read more

The best dentist ever!! I got over my fears of the dentist from this dentist right here!! You seriously can't even feel his needle pokes like most dental places. Super nice and attentive. I've been with Dr. Baek for about 5 years now and I would not go anywhere else. Let's face it. Going to the dentist is not really a pleasant experience neither is it something to look forward to. I previously went to another dentist based on the sterling reviews from Yelp but I was unfortunately mislead. I knew I was in dire need of a crown, that I know for sure. The first initial consult was just that - an initial introductory consult. That's where I got to know the dentist and the office staff, they took x-rays of my mouth and told me what's there and what's not and what should be there and all that. I was informed that I needed two root canals (yikes) and crowns for each of them. Not really the news I was looking forward to. He explained in detail what is done during a root canal and why we need to do it. I scheduled several appointments for the root canal and the crown. Each appointments took about an hour, sometimes less than an hour to complete. I was worried. I've never had a root canal done before and I've heard how painful it could be. Again, I was misinformed. Dr. Baek was so gentle and was so considerate about my well-being. He kept on checking on whether I was ok and he was very polite in doing so. His dental assistants were friendly and they definitely know what they are doing. Tom, the office manager was excellent. He informed me of my dental insurance benefits and was courteous and polite all the way. The relationship that the dentist has established with his staff is commendable and admirable. Not many businesses or offices have the kind of relationship I have witnessed at this establishment. I found out that they have a team lunch every Tuesdays and Saturdays. Again, something that I truly admire and no wonder the employees are all so happy and very pleasant to deal with. I truly recommend this office for all your dental needs. Seriously. I don't know why it's taken me so long to write a review for Dr. B! My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Baek for a little over a year, I believe. I've been to so many dentists and never enjoyed the experience. I actually like going to the dentist now, haha! Dr. Baek is so gentle and caring and has a great office staff to boot! I had my first root canal a few weeks ago and I was so worked up over how painful it was going to be and a little freaked out. It was all for nothing! Honestly, I hardly felt a thing and Dr. B let me know exactly what he was doing and was super gentle. I didn't have any pain during or after the procedure :) As far as billing and insurance go, he and his office manager(?) Tom, will absolutely maximize your benefits and I even got a refund check from the last year when my insurance paid more than what was estimated. He also doesn't push any procedures on you. He will let you know exactly what he thinks needs to be done and why (and show you graphic pictures on the monitor, eew!) and in order of importance. His equipment is up to date and he even has massaging dental chairs and an espresso machine in the waiting area. Alright, this is embarrassing for me to say, but I have avoided going to the dentist for OVER 15 years, partially due to childhood trauma from a horrible dentist office, and the lack of insurance. I needed a dentist bad, and I knew that my teeth were not in good shape. So what did I do? Yelp. I did a lot of research on multiple dentists offices, read reviews, and even asked friends about the dentists they used. I got a few recommendations, but I couldn't get over the reviews left for Dr Baek. They were all fantastic. It couldn't be true right? So I decided to make an appointment and see for myself. But before I even made the appointment, I emailed Dr Baek and explained to him my predicament and my horrible past history with dentists. He emailed me back on his day off and assured me that he could empathize with me and that he would make the visit as low key, and stress free, as possible. So I bit the bullet and made an appointment online. I was a nervous wreck. I was panicking. On the day of the appointment, I was greeted by Tom, the office manager, who was very professional and cordial. Then Dr Baek walked out from the back and remembered who I was from the email. He greeted me with a warm smile, a firm handshake, and told me that this was just a day where he is going to talk to me about the condition of my teeth and treatment plans. I took panoramic xrays of my teeth, then some more xrays to specific areas of my teeth. The assistants there are also very nice and professional. After the xrays, Dr Baek asked me about symptoms or pain I was feeling in my teeth. He then proceeded to look around my mouth just to get a visual of everything. He didn't smirk, he didn't look down me, he didn't pass any judgement, he always maintained a very professional attitude, while still being friendly. So while you sit in the "chair" which massages your back by the way, you have a huge flat screen television in front of you with digital photos of your teeth, xrays, and treatment plans. He explains thoroughly about what procedures should be done first out of urgency, and things that could be done at a later time(due to financial constraints). He makes recommendations, but doesn't force anything on you. Everything is in your control and all the choices are up to you. How awesome is that? He will answer any questions you may have and spends however much time he needs to explain everything to you. So after that initial visit, I needed to get 2 root canals and crowns asap, and other stuff done like fillings and such at a later time, if I wanted. I went back into the lobby with Tom, and he explained everything I needed to know regarding my insurance and payments. He broke it down and printed it out for me. Their prices were very fair and I made my next appointment to begin the root canal a few days later. So now I'm at a few days later, I go back to get my first root canal done. I walk in, and since the first visit, everyone is still very professional and cordial with you. I again meet Dr Baek, he has that warm smile, he shakes my hand, and tells me that it will be a painless procedure. And guess what? I literally felt nothing! What the?!?! You know how everyone says that root canals are painful? Well, they were wrong, because the only unpleasant thing about this last visit, was having to open my mouth for 45 minutes. Dr Baek made sure during the whole treatment, that I was ok, by asking me every ten minutes or so if I was. Before the procedure, he also explains EXACTLY what he plans to do so there are no surprises. He also will tell you during the procedure what I might feel or hear(i.e. slight pressure, drilling sounds, water, etc...) before each part. How awesome is that? Don't get me wrong, I was still a nervous wreck, but the way Dr Baek runs his practice, is all about the patient. You are his first priority. I am so glad I found this dentistry and I feel a lot less nervous about going back for my next visits! I have already started recommending him to my friends and family and I even got my girlfriend to go to his office for a check-up! This is the most enjoyable and least stressful experience that I have had visiting the dentist. Dr. Baek gave me a quick and thorough diagnosis of the things that needed fixing I had and gave me concise and thorough time line and treatment plan to alleviate these problems. Each treatment that I had was comfortable and pleasant and the staff made every visit enjoyable. My first time here and it was a good experience! I was the last appointment on a Saturday evening which is great for me since I work a full time job during the weekdays so it worked with my schedule. I was able to book the appointment two days before too! I came for my basic dental check up and was surprised by how much cleaner my teeth looked at the end! Dr. Baek is on the best dentists out there! He helped me replace some of my broken fillings and repaired some chipped teeth. I was comfortable during the entire procedure and he was always checking to make sure I was OK during the appointment. The fillings were done with the white composite resins and he did a great cosmetic job because I couldn't tell where he fixed the teeth because they were so well blended in. He told me that some of my teeth which were damaged may end up needing root canals if the damage was deep. It's been a few years now since the procedure and I've not had a root canal yet. I saw a previous reviewer which stated that they were told by Dr. Baek they would need a lot of root canals. Dr. Baek has always been honest and kind with me and I have never ever felt pressured to do any sort of unnecessary work. I've known him for a long time now and although I don't live in California anymore, I heartily recommended my parents to go see him because they've had some poor experiences recently and I know they will be very well taken care of by Dr. Baek. So, I'm stuck in traffic off of Beach Blvd., on my way to Fullerton to go have some dinner with a friend. As, I'm waiting there burning fuel, I think to myself, "When was the last time I had a dental checkup?" Its been almost two years! Yikes!! For some of you, you may classify me as an "ODB".... LoL. I may be in my younger thirties, but I ain't that dirty :) Anyways, as this thought comes across my mind, I realize that my teeth have been bothering me lately. They've been sensitive to both hot and cold temperatures; additionally, I've had some increasing sensitivity to a couple of my teeth. Fearing some cavities, I finally decided to go get my teeth checked out. So, again there I was- sitting in traffic, thinking where I could go to get my teeth checked out. No exaggeration, sitting there stuck in traffic... I look up and I see this sign of the road, and it was Dr. Baek's!! LoL, so after dinner with my friend, the next day, I call up and make an appointment for that following Friday. Now, having spent several years in the military, I've grown accustomed to military healthcare and the extreme polarities that any one individual may receive in the quality of treatment. HOWEVER, let me say this, Dr. Baek and his office staff are the utmost professional and friendly staff I have ever had the experience to patron with. My experience started with my initial call and how quickly Dr. Baek's staff were able to accommodate to MY schedule and needs. I was scheduled that same week- even though I had called late Tuesday afternoon! After, I came in for the checkup, I was delighted to see the office decor tailored for patients in the waiting room. A nice TV, along with pleasant reading material, and even an espresso machine(!) passed the short waiting time. As a first-time patient, a new file was set up for me and I had been seated to take x-rays almost the second I turned in my new-paperwork. After the friendly, assistant had taken all of my x-rays, I was led to another room to wait for the Doctor. Have you ever waited for your dentist or doctor in the examining room for 10-20 minutes after waiting in the waiting area for like 25 minutes? Well, NOT here. As soon, as I was seated in the examination room. Dr. Baek came in immediately and began to make me feel at ease with his kind and friendly demeanor. I knew that this Doctor had MY interests at heart. Additionally, I knew that he WASN'T trying to upsale me or convince me to receive services that I didn't really need- like some other dentists had done in the past. He simply told me things like they were and explained things to me in a manner in which I knew would make sense. Furthermore, the use of state-of-the-art equipment in this office, allowed ME to physically visualize everything that Dr. Baek was talking about. There wasn't any guess-work or any need for explanation from what Dr. Baek was talking about. I could see it for myself on the TV screen, sitting right there on the examination chair! Having undergone extensive dental treatments in the past, including wisdom teeth extraction, orthodontic surgery and correction (braces); I can honestly say that Dr. Baek's office is the BEST of the BEST! His professionalism, dedication to his craft, and bedside manner are all truly what separates him from all of the other dentists that I have ever gone to. I would base the 5 stars on this alone, but you add a great location (a couple of miles from the 91 and 5 freeways), friendly and well-trained staff, awesome equipment, and all around great patient support; honestly, "Why would I go anywhere else?" I mean, I live in Long Beach, and I make this 30-45 minute (in traffic) to see Dr. Baek all the time now. I've found his service to be so incredible, I've already referred my mom, my fiancee, and my sister, including any friends that I know that need dental work. Trust me, go here to receive the quality of services that you need and you will come away with a new appreciation for what real dental care is supposed to be like. read more

Dr. Baek and his entire staff were very courteous and friendly. All of my options were clearly explained in a detailed and concise manner. My appointment was at 9am and I was out of there within 45 minutes. Awesome! His office was very clean and his equipment was state of the art. I especially enjoyed when he showed my Xrays on the LCD TV in the exam room while I was sitting on the massage chair. I felt very comfortable and would definitely recommend his office to anyone. read more

I'm pretty simple when it comes to doctor/dental appointments. I am okay with needles, drills, etc. and don't mind putting up with the dentist/assistant scraping at my teeth with that little hook instrument that they use because I figure it's all part of the cleaning. That being said, I was actually very impressed with my routine check up. Maybe I'm living under a rock but my visit was SUPER. The tool used was a machine-thing (yes, that's the proper name. LOL JK NO IT'S NOT) that literally took like 5 minutes. At first I was confused and wasn't sure if my teeth were cleaned or if that was just a preliminary clean before getting to the actual cleaning but until I looked in the mirror I was shocked at how clean my teeth where without ANY pain or discomfort. Seriously. All plaque, stains--GONE! It felt like a light buzz on my teeth. None of this constant uncomfortable scrapping and hearing that 'nails to a chalkboard' sound. Then my teeth were polished and I was good to go. Also Dr. Baek went over my teeth xrays and explaining to me the overall health with my teeth which I've only had one other dentist do with me many years ago so it was good to be informed and up-to-date. Also the office is actually pretty warm and inviting instead of feeling like I'm in a clinic. It's just a better modern feel. Some people may not care, but I DOOO. Parking is available off of Artesia Blvd (you make a quick turn into this alley way where you park BEHIND the dentist office). read more
